摘要
依据美国哲学家格赖斯的会话含义理论,会话如果违反了合作原则,则会产生字面意义之外的会话含义。这一原则运用于小说分析,即如果叙述者(作者)违反了合作原则,同样会产生比文字本身更多的含义,这种含义叫叙述含义。叙述含义具有不可分离性、可推测性、多样性等特点。运用叙述含义分析小说,有助于探讨小说的结构和主题。这种方法从语用学角度为文学分析提供了一个新视角。
One of the results of violating the cooperative principle in conversation is the conversational implication beyond the literal meaning. Similarly, when this occurs to the narrator in stories, narrative implication is produced. Taking the Open Secret by the Canadian writer, Alice Munron as an example, this paper discusses how this violation of cooperative principle produces the narrative implication. Analyzing the narrative implication provides a pragmatic perspective of understanding the structure and theme of the story.
