Soyinka's poetry is, in essence, a matter of 'Slave Narration,' which is full of colonial writers' spirit of revolt, bearing striking features of post-colonialism. Soyinka is a cultural 'baster,' whose poetic works are results of combination of dual cultures from the tradition of modern western poetry and the social and cultural reality of African colonies. Soyinka is in a dilemma in that, while undergoing a cultural revolt, he presents deep disposition of pessimism.
