Objective: To investigate the effect of exercise training on endothelins (ET-1), nitrogen monoxide (NO) and calcitonin-gene-related peptide (CGRP) blood concentration in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) after CABG/PTCA, and explore the relationship between cardiac rehabilitation exercise training and cardiovascular endothelial function. Methods: A total of 66 patients with CAD after PTCA/CABG were enrolled in the study. They were randomly divided into rehabilitation exercise training group and conventional care group. The patients of exercise training group got 12 weeks of exercise training and conventional care. The exercise program provided supervised conditioning for patients in rehabilitation department. The conventional group only had conventional care. The Plasm ET-1, CGRP and NO concentrations were examined at baseline and after 12 weeks of treatment from all patients. Results: After exercise training the ET-1 level decreased, NO and CGRP level increased (P<0. 05 all) in exercise training group. There were significantly differences (P<0. 05) in ET-1 ,NO and CGRP level between exercise training group and conventional care group after 12 weeks. The ET-1, NO and CGRP levels were no significantly differences (P>0. 05) after 12 weeks care in conventional care group. Conclusion: The rehabilitation exercise training can improve endothelium function in patient with CAD.
