摘要
本文采用中国1999-2005年间31个省市高等教育的面板数据,就各省高等教育对区域经济增长关系作实证研究。结果表明,自高校扩招以来,超过一半地区的高校对当地经济发展不但没有起到良好的推动作用,反而在一定程度上阻滞了当地经济发展。这说明扩招这一高等教育体制改革并没有带来区域经济的全面增长,而是因地而异,同时也说明高校在改革过程中,过于注重高校规模扩张,忽视了高校的内涵建设。
This study explores the contribution of a region’s higher education to its economic growth, using panel data of 31 provinces from 1999 to 2005. The study discovers that for over half of all provinces since the 1999 enrolment expansion, higher education has not promoted but instead slowed down its regional economy. This means that higher education reform through expansion results in regionally varied results, instead of uniform economic growth. Moreover, during the expansion, many higher education institutions have not paid sufficient effect to quality development.
