With the rapid development of transportation and information technology, the space-time distance of tourism is greatly shortened, and the transaction costs and information acquisition costs are significantly reduced, which makes the development of transportation, information communication and tourism industry present six changes:transportation is changing from"traditional"to"modern";information communication has been changed from"one-way"to"multi-way";tourism frequency changes from"single"to"multiple";tourism utility changes from"experience"to"functionality";inter-regional relations is changing from"competition"to"cooperation";travel time is changing from"statutory holidays"to"weekends".This paper believes that under these new changes, the deepening of the tourism cooperation among five provinces and regions of Southwest China will form a new growth point of tourism industry, and an empirical analysis is made. The paper innovatively puts forward the definition of"functional tourism",which provides theoretical support for the government to increase investments in provincial capital cities, areas with convenient transportation and functional tourism destinations.
