The conversion process of chitin,one of the abundant biomass resources on the earth,not only follows the principles of green chemistry,but also has significant value in industrial applications.However,it is a great ch...The conversion process of chitin,one of the abundant biomass resources on the earth,not only follows the principles of green chemistry,but also has significant value in industrial applications.However,it is a great challenge to directly convert insoluble and rigid structured chitin to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF).To address this issue,we developed a green conversion process combining pretreatment and catalytic system.Chitin was first pretreated by hexafluoro isopropanol(HFIP),which somewhat disrupted the hydrogen bonding network within the chitin structure.Subsequently,formic acid(FA)and silicotungstic acid(STA)synergistically catalyzed the conversion to HMF in a biphasic system of 2-methyltetrahydrofuran(2-Me-THF)/H2O,and high yields(40.2%)HMF was obtained under the optimism conditions.The product distribution was analyzed by HPLC-MS and the co-catalysis of FA with STA was evidenced.A dual-function catalytic system with both Lewis and Br?nsted acids was created,the catalytic system that significantly improved the efficiency of complex tandem catalytic reactions with chitin.Based on the experimental results,a possible pathway for chitin conversion was deduced,providing a new catalytic idea for the efficient conversion of chitin to HMF.展开更多

Oysters are of the most economically important bivalves worldwide.It has high nutritional value and is regarded as a good source of proteins,lipids,glycogen,and amino acids.C.gigas and C.angulata are allopatric congen...Oysters are of the most economically important bivalves worldwide.It has high nutritional value and is regarded as a good source of proteins,lipids,glycogen,and amino acids.C.gigas and C.angulata are allopatric congeneric dominant oysters that are widely cultivated in the northern and southern coast of China,and have shown remarkable differentiation in the nutritional content.Interspecific hybridization and backcross of the two species are effective ways to improve the nutritional quality of the oyster.Sixteen progenies were constructed based on a 4×4 diallel crosses among broodstock of C.gigas(G),C.angulata(A)and their hybrids GA(H)and AG(R).The glycogen,fatty acids,and amino acids performance of these progenies were evaluated in 22 months after fertilization.The glycogen content of AA was significantly lower than that of the other 15 progenies(P<0.05),while only the GH progeny was significantly higher than the GG(P<0.05),with a heterosis value of 21.06%.The backcross progenies GR exhibited significantly higher saturated fatty acids,eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA),and polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs)content than those of GG(P<0.05),and did not show significant differences from AA.The AA showed significantly higher content of total amino acids(TAAs)than GG(P<0.05).The AH progeny displayed significantly higher taurine(Tau)content than GG(P<0.05),and the heterosis value was 27.88%.Therefore,the backcross breeding was shown an effective way to improve the glycogen,fatty acids,and TAAs of GG,and the glycogen of AA.This study provided useful information to characterize the benefits of backcrossing in nutritional quality,which will facilitate the production of differentiated products and increase the efficiency of the oyster industry.展开更多
The mechanisms underlying sex determination and differentiation have long intrigued researchers in the fields of development and evolutionary biology.The roughskin sculpin(Trachidermus fasciatus Heckel),displaying sex...The mechanisms underlying sex determination and differentiation have long intrigued researchers in the fields of development and evolutionary biology.The roughskin sculpin(Trachidermus fasciatus Heckel),displaying sexual dimorphism,provides an ideal model for studying the mechanisms.However,both genetic and genomic information concerning sex determination and differentiation,such as gonadal transcriptome data in roughskin sculpin,are lacking.Here,we present the first gonadal transcriptomes of roughskin sculpin and identify sex-related genes.We identified 8531 differentially expressed genes(DEGs),among them 4065 were upregulated in the ovary and 4466 upregulated in the testis.Several sex-related gene ontology(GO)terms were enriched in ovary-biased genes,including“binding of sperm to zona pellucida”,“egg coat formation”,“positive regulation of acrosome reaction”,“cell division”,and“cell cycle”,while the GO terms such as“spermatogenesis”,“sperm axoneme assembly”,“cilium assembly”,“cilium movement”,and“cilium movement involved in cell motility”were enriched in testis-biased genes.Moreover,six KEGG pathways were significantly enriched in the ovary,whereas only one was enriched in the testis.Of these DEGs,40 sex-related genes were identified,which including 26 testis-biased genes(such as Dmrtb 1,Gsdf,Sox 9 b,Wnt 4 b,Tcp 11 l 2,and Efhb),and 14 ovary-biased genes(such as Cyp 19 a 1 a,Foxh 1,Foxr 1,Gdf 3,Hsd 17 b 12,and Igf 2 bp 3).This gonadal transcript dataset would broaden our understanding of sex determination and differentiation mechanisms in roughskin sculpin,expand the genomic database,support future studies on sex-related gene functions,and facilitate molecular biology research into roughskin sculpin.展开更多
The function of exogenous alanine(Ala)in regulating biomass accumulation,lipid production,photosynthesis,and respiration in Chlorella pyrenoidosa was studied.Result shows that the supplementation of Ala increased C.py...The function of exogenous alanine(Ala)in regulating biomass accumulation,lipid production,photosynthesis,and respiration in Chlorella pyrenoidosa was studied.Result shows that the supplementation of Ala increased C.pyrenoidosa biomass and lipid production in an 8-d batch culture.The concentration of 10 mmol/L of Ala was optimum and increased the microalgal cell biomass and lipid content by 39.3%and 21.4%,respectively,compared with that in the control(0-mmol/L Ala).Ala supplementation reduced photosynthetic activity while boosting respiratory activity and pyruvate levels,indicating that C.pyrenoidosa used exogenous Ala for biomass accumulation through the respiratory metabolic process.The accelerated respiratory metabolism due to Ala supplementation elevated the substrate pool and improved the lipogenic gene expression,promoting lipid production at last.This study provided a novel method for increasing biomass accumulation and lipid production and elucidated the role of Ala in regulating lipid production.展开更多
The subtropical North and South Pacific Meridional Modes(NPMM and SPMM)are well known precursors of El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO).However,relationship between them is not constant.In the early 1980,the relat...The subtropical North and South Pacific Meridional Modes(NPMM and SPMM)are well known precursors of El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO).However,relationship between them is not constant.In the early 1980,the relationship experienced an interdecadal transition.Changes in this connection can be attributed mainly to the phase change of the Pacific decadal oscillation(PDO).During the positive phase of PDO,a shallower thermocline in the central Pacific is responsible for the stronger trade wind charging(TWC)mechanism,which leads to a stronger equatorial subsurface temperature evolution.This dynamic process strengthens the connection between NPMM and ENSO.Associated with the negative phase of PDO,a shallower thermocline over southeastern Pacific allows an enhanced wind-evaporation-SST(WES)feedback,strengthening the connection between SPMM and ENSO.Using 35 Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6)models,we examined the NPMM/SPMM performance and its connection with ENSO in the historical runs.The great majority of CMIP6 models can reproduce the pattern of NPMM and SPMM well,but they reveal discrepant ENSO and NPMM/SPMM relationship.The intermodal uncertainty for the connection of NPMM-ENSO is due to different TWC mechanism.A stronger TWC mechanism will enhance NPMM forcing.For SPMM,few models can simulate a good relationship with ENSO.The intermodel spread in the relationship of SPMM and ENSO owing to SST bias in the southeastern Pacific,as WES feedback is stronger when the southeastern Pacific is warmer.展开更多
Alginate oligosaccharides(AOS)and fucoidan are two important bioactive carbohydrate which that can be prepared from brown seaweeds.We investigated a novel enzyme-assisted one-pot method on AOS and fucoidan extraction ...Alginate oligosaccharides(AOS)and fucoidan are two important bioactive carbohydrate which that can be prepared from brown seaweeds.We investigated a novel enzyme-assisted one-pot method on AOS and fucoidan extraction from Lessonia trabeculata,and found that the optimum extraction procedure was:first,using 10-g/L Na_(2)CO_(3) solution to digest the seaweeds for 2 h at 80℃ with the material-liquid ratio 1:20(g/mL),and then adding 4.0%fucoidan cleavage enzyme for reaction for 12 h at 45℃.The yield of AOS and fucoidan was 21.36%and 14.40%,respectively,which was higher than those using traditional methods.The degree of polymerization of AOS was determined to be 3-5,confirming the results through thin layer chromatography(TLC)and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry(ESI-MS).The ratio of guluronic acid to mannuronic acid in AOS was found to be 1.97.Through anion-exchange column chromatography,four sulfated polysaccharide fractions(F0.5,F1.0,F1.5,and F2.0)were successfully isolated from fucoidan.Chemical analysis revealed that fucoidan and F0.5 were heteropolysaccharides,consisting mainly of mannuronic acid,fucose,and xylose,while the other fractions were predominantly composed of fucose and galactose.The sulfate group content increased from 8.74% to 18.76%,while the uronic acid content decreased from 23.79% to 5.58%across the fractions.All fractions of fucoidan exhibited significant antioxidant activity in various tests.There was a positive correlation between the sulfate content and the ability to scavenge superoxide radicals.Additionally,both AOS and the fucoidan fractions showed immunostimulation activity and were nontoxic to RAW264.7 cells.These results indicate that the novel enzyme-assisted one-pot method is a green and efficient approach for the extraction of fucoidan and alginate oligosaccharides from brown seaweeds.It has potential applications in the processing industry of brown seaweeds.展开更多
Coastal tidal creeks are important channels for exchanges of material and energy between sea and land,and play an important role in the ecological protection of tidal flats.Although tidal creeks have evolved different...Coastal tidal creeks are important channels for exchanges of material and energy between sea and land,and play an important role in the ecological protection of tidal flats.Although tidal creeks have evolved differently in various regions,the evolutionary process of tidal creeks in the Huanghe(Yellow)River delta of China,one of the most active deltas worldwide,is not entirely clear.Therefore,the evolution of tidal creeks in the delta from 1981 to 2021 was investigated by quantitatively analysing the tidal creeks and developing a standard for dividing their evolution periods.Visual interpretation and supervised classification methods were applied to the Landsat images to extract the tidal creek network,and 17 groups of tidal creek systems were selected.Results indicate that Creek S 1 was the most developed creek for having 113 tidal creeks totaling 65.8 km in length,while Creek E 3 had the fastest growth rate for having average annual increase of 1.9 km.Meanwhile,the level of tidal creeks increased,the average and median lengths of tidal creeks increased,and the number of tidal creeks decreased since 1981.The evolution of the tidal creek system could be divided into four stages,namely,rising,developing,stabilizing,and degrading.Analyses of a representative tidal creek show that there was no degenerated tidal creek during the rising period,with an increase in the number of 50 and a length increase of 57.9 km between 1981 and 1989.The proportion of new tidal creeks in the developing period was more than 50%and the new tidal creeks in the stabilizing period were equal to the degraded tidal creeks.Extinct tidal creeks were greater than 50%during the degrading period.There was no fixed order of tidal creek evolution in each period,and there may be a skip in evolution.Our findings provided a reference for studying the evolution of tidal creeks.展开更多
China’s Bohai Bay has experienced large-scale land reclamation since 2000.These reclamation projects create a nearshore ecological imbalance and shift sediment transport by changing the tidal current.However,these ti...China’s Bohai Bay has experienced large-scale land reclamation since 2000.These reclamation projects create a nearshore ecological imbalance and shift sediment transport by changing the tidal current.However,these tidal current changes are not comprehensively understood.In this paper,the coastline changes in Bohai Bay due to reclamation are investigated and the responses of the tidal current are calculated through numerical methods.The results show that the coastline length of the bay increases by more than 500 km from 2000 to 2015 with the largest reclamation rate of 150.9 km^(2)/a.Consequently,the current velocity changes with an uneven distribution near the reclamation due to construction masking and dike protrusion.The tidal symmetry also changes in most nearshore areas,with opposite variations in the current velocity at peak flood and ebb tide.In addition,the tide direction deflects to bypass the reclamation and is usually consistent with the coastline.Harmonic analysis of the dominant M2 tidal constituent shows that the range of the reciprocating current is widely extended.The total influence of the reclamation can reach the-8-m isobaths in Bohai Bay.Changes in the tidal current are the main causes of water environment deterioration.Therefore,the arrangement and structural optimization of reclamation projects should be considered in the future.展开更多
Although the microbial diversity of the Indian Ocean has been extensively investigated,little is known about the community composition of microbes in the Southern Indian Ocean.In the present study,we divided 60 water ...Although the microbial diversity of the Indian Ocean has been extensively investigated,little is known about the community composition of microbes in the Southern Indian Ocean.In the present study,we divided 60 water column samples on the Ninety-East Ridge(NER)into fi ve water masses according to the temperature-salinity curves.We presented,for the fi rst time,a full description of the microbial biodiversity on NER through high-throughput amplicon sequencing approach,including bacteria,archaea,and fungi.We found that bacteria exhibited higher richness and diversity than archaea and fungi across the water masses on NER.More importantly,each water mass on NER featured distinct prokaryotic microbial communities,as indicated by the results of non-metric multidimensional scaling.In contrast,fungi were eurybathic across the water masses.Redundancy analysis results demonstrated that environmental factors might play a pivotal role in the formation and stability of prokaryotic communities in each water mass,especially that of archaea.In addition,indicator species might be used as fi ngerprints to identify corresponding water masses on NER.These results provide new insights into the vertical distribution,structure,and diversity of microorganisms on NER from the perspective of water mass.展开更多
Magnetotactic bacteria(MTB)intact cells have been applied in magnetic hyperthermia therapy of tumor,showing great efficiency in heating for tumor cell inhibition.However,the detailed magnetic hyperthermia properties a...Magnetotactic bacteria(MTB)intact cells have been applied in magnetic hyperthermia therapy of tumor,showing great efficiency in heating for tumor cell inhibition.However,the detailed magnetic hyperthermia properties and optimum heat production conditions of MTB cells are still poorly understood due to lack of standard measuring equipment.The specific absorption rate(SAR)of MTB cells is often measured by home-made equipment at a limited frequency and magnetic field amplitude.In this study,we have used a commercial standard system to implement a comprehensive study of the hyperthermic response of Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense MSR-1 strain under 7 frequencies of 144-764 kHz,and 8 field amplitudes between 10 and 45 kA/m.The measurement results prove that the SAR of MTB cells increases with magnetic field frequency and amplitude within a certain range.In combination with the magnetic measurements,it is determined that the magnetic hyperthermia mechanism of MTB mainly follows the principle of hysteresis loss,and the heat efficiency of MTB cells in alternating magnetic field are mainly aff ected by three parameters of hysteresis loop,saturation magnetisation,saturation remanent magnetisation,and coercivity.Thus when we culture MTB in LA-2 medium containing sodium nitrate as source of nitrogen,the SAR of MTB LA-2 cells with magnetosomes arranged in chains can be as high as 4925.6 W/g(in this work,all SARs are calculated with iron mass)under 764 kHz and 30 kA/m,which is 7.5 times than current commercial magnetic particles within similar size range.展开更多
The content and distribution pattern of rare earth elements(REEs)in surface sediments from the Eastern and Western Pacifi c Ocean,the Northern and Southern Atlantic Ocean,and the Southwestern Indian Ocean were explore...The content and distribution pattern of rare earth elements(REEs)in surface sediments from the Eastern and Western Pacifi c Ocean,the Northern and Southern Atlantic Ocean,and the Southwestern Indian Ocean were explored and the resources and geochemical characteristics of REEs in deep-ocean sediments from diff erent oceans were studied.The total REE abundances(ΣREE)in the diff erent oceans ranged as follows:Eastern Pacifi c,56.88–500.02μg/g;Western Pacifi c,290.68–439.94μg/g;Northern Atlantic,55.33–154.90μg/g;Southern Atlantic,40.83–69.30μg/g;and Southwestern Indian Ocean,20.24–64.76μg/g.Their corresponding LREE(La-Eu)/HREE(Gd-Lu)average values were 5.18,5.86,9.01,5.21,and 4.59,which indicated that the light REEs were all evidently enriched.δEu andδCe showed slight Eu-negative anomalies and signifi cant Ce-positive anomalies in all sediments.Although the contents of REEs in the sediments varied among the diff erent oceans,the distribution patterns of REEs were similar,and the correlation coeffi cient was greater than 0.9290.In the Eastern Pacifi c sediments,ΣREE showed a signifi cantly positive correlation with Co,Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo and a weak correlation with Fe.In the Western Pacifi c and Southern Atlantic sediments,ΣREE presented no obvious correlation and a weakly negative correlation with Co,Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo and Fe,respectively.ΣREE in the Southwestern Indian Ocean sediments positively correlated with Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo,Fe,and had a weakly negative correlation with Co.展开更多
Since coastal areas have highly dynamic nature and are one of the most beneficial regions of civilizations,it is of great significance to understand their characteristics and behavior.Changes in shorelines in the form...Since coastal areas have highly dynamic nature and are one of the most beneficial regions of civilizations,it is of great significance to understand their characteristics and behavior.Changes in shorelines in the form of accretion and erosion can leave devastating effects on businesses and cities located along the shore.In this study,we statistically calculated the tendency of shoreline changes by processing and analyzing historical satellite images of Boushehr Province,Iran.Results show that these shores have experienced both sedimentation and erosion in the past 30 years.Net shoreline movement presents more than 350 m of erosion and 650 m of accretion,which are corresponded to change rates of almost 12 and 22 m/a,respectively.Statistics of shoreline changes are calculated from regression methods including end point rate,linear regression rate,weighted linear regression,and least median of squares.The best-performed method is applied to predict the shoreline position in 2050 and 2100.Potential locations of excessive changes are identified for the predicted shorelines,which should be dealt with properly.展开更多
Phenol is a common industrial chemical produced and transported worldwide largely.Therefore,accidental spillage of phenol in the ocean causes an increasing concern.Microalgae are promising to remove phenol from marine...Phenol is a common industrial chemical produced and transported worldwide largely.Therefore,accidental spillage of phenol in the ocean causes an increasing concern.Microalgae are promising to remove phenol from marine waters.However,temperature and light intensity are two main factors that markedly influence biodegradation in marine environments.In this study,a marine golden alga Isochrysis galbana is selected to research the removal of phenol under different temperatures(10-30℃)and light intensities(0-240μmol/(m^2·s)).The results show that the most suitable temperature and light intensity for phenol removal are 20℃and 180μmol/(m2·s),respectively,and 100 mg/L of phenol can be completely removed by microalga in 24 h at these conditions.I.galbana can also remove phenol under dark and low-temperature conditions.The removal of phenol by I.galbana at diverse temperatures and light intensities conform to first-order kinetics,and the process under dark conditions conform to zero-order kinetics.Thus,I.galbana can be used in the in-situ bioremediation of polluted seawater by phenol.展开更多
Sediment grain size in the deltaic environment of the Luanhe River(LR),Liaoning,China,contains sediment transport pathway information useful in elucidating the shoreline change and fluvialmarine interaction.In this st...Sediment grain size in the deltaic environment of the Luanhe River(LR),Liaoning,China,contains sediment transport pathway information useful in elucidating the shoreline change and fluvialmarine interaction.In this study,we utilized numerical partitioning of the sedimentary components and geostatistical grain size trend analysis(GSTA)to define the sediment transport pattern in the Luanhe River delta(LRD)and interpolated the sediment transport pattern using content changes of end numbers(EM).EM1(the mean grain size 7.12Ф,fine silt),EM2(2.37Ф,fine sand),and EM3(1.27Ф,medium sand)components were identified by the numerical partitioning by GSTA.Kriging interpolation method was used to interpolate the parameters of the grain size for the regular grid,and the interpolation radius was 0.015 decimal degree.We chose 0.09 decimal degree as the characteristic distance for GSTA in the semivariogram model using the geostatistical method.The FB(-)case(finer,better sorted and more negatively skewed)was adopted in GSTA for its satisfaction in the Global Moran’s I test.The result of the GSTA shows that the sediments in the south barriers(SBs)were transported to the southwest of the study area.The sediments in the north,in the SE direction of sediment transport trend from the river mouth,indicated that the sediments in the north of the study area were transported from the LR to the northern beaches,and to the south and east of the study area.The sediment transport trend that simplified by GSTA as the FB(-)case was approved by the content changes of sedimentary components(i.e.EM1,EM2,and EM3).In addition,the turbulent jet diffusion pattern indicated that the coarse sediments(EM3)were delivered by LR during the flood season,and the EM2 and EM1 were from wave and tide,respectively.展开更多
Data from satellite altimetry and in situ observations together with the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) reanalysis data were used to investigate the mechanism and formation of an anticyclonic eddy in the northe...Data from satellite altimetry and in situ observations together with the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) reanalysis data were used to investigate the mechanism and formation of an anticyclonic eddy in the northeastern South China Sea (SCS). Analysis of water mass using cruise data indicated that the water captured in the eddy diff ers from those in the SCS, the Kuroshio intrusion, and the eddy-forming region. Data from sea surface height (SSH) and sea level anomaly (SLA) indicate that the eddy formed due both to the Kuroshio intrusion and the local circulation in the SCS. The Kuroshio intrusion is present at the start of the eddy growth (March 5-9) before Kuroshio leaps the Luzon Strait. The eddy then becomes larger and stronger in the absence of the Kuroshio intrusion. From the eddy budget of the HYCOM reanalysis data, the formation of the eddy goes in three steps. By the third step, the eddy had become aff ected by variations of local SCS circulation, which is more strongly than in the fi rst step in which it is aff ected more by the Kuroshio intrusion. The variability of the temperature and salinity inside the eddy provide a support to this conclusion. The water in the SCS intruded into the eddy from the southeast, which decrease the salinity gradually in the southern part of the eddy during the growth period.展开更多

Colored layers in five lakes at various stages of separation from the sea were investigated using optical microscopy, spectrophotometry, spectrofluorimetry, and photobiology. The upper greenish colored layer located in the aerobic strata of all lakes near the compensation depth of 1% light penetration contains green algae. In the chemocline, another layer, brightly green, red or pink, is dominated by mixotrophic flagellates. Despite the very low light intensities and the presence of H 2 S, active photosynthesis by these algae appears to be occurring, as indicated by high values of the maximum quantum yield of primary photochemistry, electron transport activity, photosynthetic activity of photosystem II, the fraction of active centers, and low values of heat dissipation. In the reduced zone of the chemocline, a dense green or brown suspension of anoxygenic phototrophs(green sulfur bacteria) is located.展开更多

In this study, miRNAs and their target gene candidates were computationally identified from shrimp Penaeu s monodon and then experimentally validated. Using 39 908 expressed sequence tags(ESTs) and 21 124 genome survey sequences(GSSs) of P. monodon(pmo) as reference dataset, a comprehensive approach based on inter-species homolog search was employed to investigate the candidate miRNAs(i.e. pmo-miRNA). A total of eight miRNAs belonging to 7 families were computationally identified and five out of them were subsequently validated by PCR and sequencing. Of these, pmo-miR-4961a, pmo-miR-4961b, pmo-miR-4979 and pmo-miR-3819 were first identified from shrimps. Both the mature pmo-miRNAs and the corresponding precursors were conserved among different species. Based on perfect or near-perfect match to the target region, the target gene candidates of pmomiRNAs were predicted from 10 331 mRNA sequences of P. monodon. A total of 20 genes were predicted as the targets of pmo-miR-4961a, pmo-miR-4961b, pmo-miR-4979 and pmo-miR-6492. Experimental validation by dual luciferase reporter assay confi rmed the targeting between 3 pmo-miRNAs and one or two of their target genes, especially the pmo-miR-4979 which could significantly down-regulate the expression of target gene(JR226772). This study updates the miRNAs and their targets in P. monodon and lays a solid foundation for future RNAi study.展开更多
Internal solitary waves(ISWs)are an essential dynamic process in the ocean due to their large amplitude and long propagation distance.Traditional satellite observations provide only twodimensional observations of ocea...Internal solitary waves(ISWs)are an essential dynamic process in the ocean due to their large amplitude and long propagation distance.Traditional satellite observations provide only twodimensional observations of ocean signatures induced by ISWs.The Surface Water and Ocean Topography(SWOT)satellite has drawn significant attention due to its high resolution and threedimensional observation capabilities.SWOT can generate high-precision three-dimensional sea surface topography,capture sea surface undulations,and reveal ISW-related surface oscillations,thus offering a new perspective for studying ISWs.We collected 43 SWOT observations with clear ISW signatures in the Lombok Strait from August 2023 to June 2024.Based on collected data,the ISW imaging characteristics and distributions were analyzed,and the ISW-related sea level anomaly(SLA)data were measured by the SWOT to calculate the ISW amplitude and reveal the amplitude variations during the propagation along the wave crest.The ISW amplitudes generally range between 10 and 100 m,with most ISW amplitudes between 20 and 40 m.By analyzing two consecutive generated ISW packets,we identified the spreading effect along ISW wave crests,which manifests as ISW amplitude decrease with increase in propagation distance,and the amplitude distribution is non-uniform along the wave crest.Further analysis of the propagation paths of the maximum amplitude of ISW moving northward through the Lombok Strait revealed that these maxima are predominantly oriented in northeast direction.Finally,the relationship between the amplitude of ISW and the resulting SLA was analyzed.The Pearson correlation coefficient between these two variables is as high as 0.90,which suggests a strong positive correlation between amplitude and SLA.Furthermore,this relationship is closely related to the water depth,indicating that the three-dimensional sea surface observations provided by SWOT offer crucial observational data for the inversion of amplitudes of ISW.展开更多
Sea surface temperature(SST)is an important ocean variable affecting climate change.It plays an important role in the interactions between the ocean and the atmosphere,and it also has an effect on the transport of hea...Sea surface temperature(SST)is an important ocean variable affecting climate change.It plays an important role in the interactions between the ocean and the atmosphere,and it also has an effect on the transport of heat,freshwater,and carbon.Therefore,accurate SST prediction is necessary for understanding climate change and protecting ocean ecosystems.In this study,we proposed a hybrid model to predict SST in the tropical Pacific Ocean based on two single deep-learning models.Results indicate that the proposed hybrid model shows superior prediction accuracy at all lead times compared to the single model.Specifically,during El Niño periods,the root mean square error,mean absolute error,and Pearson correlation coefficient of the hybrid model forecasts were approximately 0.54℃,0.40℃,and 0.98,respectively,while during La Niña periods,these metrics were 0.55℃,0.39℃,and 0.98,respectively.Notably,the hybrid model was able to capture the spatial distribution of SSTs during the El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)events more accurately relative to a single model.Moreover,the prediction results of the hybrid model in different ocean regions exhibited lower prediction errors and higher correlations.The ablation experiments showed that sea surface wind(SSW)had different effects on SST at different times.By combining SST and SSW data,the model can make more-accurate predictions under different climatic conditions.The proposed hybrid model is able to predict SSTs quickly and accurately with better robustness during ENSO.展开更多

文摘The conversion process of chitin,one of the abundant biomass resources on the earth,not only follows the principles of green chemistry,but also has significant value in industrial applications.However,it is a great challenge to directly convert insoluble and rigid structured chitin to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF).To address this issue,we developed a green conversion process combining pretreatment and catalytic system.Chitin was first pretreated by hexafluoro isopropanol(HFIP),which somewhat disrupted the hydrogen bonding network within the chitin structure.Subsequently,formic acid(FA)and silicotungstic acid(STA)synergistically catalyzed the conversion to HMF in a biphasic system of 2-methyltetrahydrofuran(2-Me-THF)/H2O,and high yields(40.2%)HMF was obtained under the optimism conditions.The product distribution was analyzed by HPLC-MS and the co-catalysis of FA with STA was evidenced.A dual-function catalytic system with both Lewis and Br?nsted acids was created,the catalytic system that significantly improved the efficiency of complex tandem catalytic reactions with chitin.Based on the experimental results,a possible pathway for chitin conversion was deduced,providing a new catalytic idea for the efficient conversion of chitin to HMF.

文摘Three new free-living marine nematodes belong to the order Enoplida from the Yellow Sea,China are described.The first new species,Halanonchus gracilis sp.nov.is characterized by inner labial sensilla papillose,outer labial setae and cephalic setae thick,with thin tips;oval amphideal fovea located posterior to buccal cavity;males possessing midventral row of 10-12 papilliform pharyngeal supplements and 13-15 unequal papilliform precloacal supplements;spicules almost straight,0.85-1.0 cloacal body diameter long;gubernaculum rod-shaped.The main difference between the described species and other known species within the genus is that precloacal supplements are unequal,6-7 posterior supplements smaller and closer,the rest 7-8 proximal supplements larger and far away.The genus Halanonchus is the first record from the Chinese sea area.The second new species,Micoletzkyia oxycephalata sp.nov.is characterized by very sharp-pointed anterior part of body,paired spicules unequal and precloacal supplement situated anterior to proximal end of spicules.This new species can be easily distinguished from all other known species of Micoletzkyia by outstanding body shape,unequal spicules,stick shaped gubernaculum without apophysis,and the position of precloacal supplement.The third new species,Wieseria zhangi sp.nov.is characterized by slender body with a clavate tail;large amphideal fovea oblong,double contour with a manubrium basally,situated posterior to cephalic setae;spicules short,slightly arcuated,not cephalated proximally,without internal stripe and ventral alae;gubernaculum rodlike,without apophysis;a short midventral spine positioned 11-12μm anterior to the cloaca.Updated keys to species of three genera Halanonchus,Micoletzkyia,and Wieseria are also given.

文摘Oysters are of the most economically important bivalves worldwide.It has high nutritional value and is regarded as a good source of proteins,lipids,glycogen,and amino acids.C.gigas and C.angulata are allopatric congeneric dominant oysters that are widely cultivated in the northern and southern coast of China,and have shown remarkable differentiation in the nutritional content.Interspecific hybridization and backcross of the two species are effective ways to improve the nutritional quality of the oyster.Sixteen progenies were constructed based on a 4×4 diallel crosses among broodstock of C.gigas(G),C.angulata(A)and their hybrids GA(H)and AG(R).The glycogen,fatty acids,and amino acids performance of these progenies were evaluated in 22 months after fertilization.The glycogen content of AA was significantly lower than that of the other 15 progenies(P<0.05),while only the GH progeny was significantly higher than the GG(P<0.05),with a heterosis value of 21.06%.The backcross progenies GR exhibited significantly higher saturated fatty acids,eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA),and polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs)content than those of GG(P<0.05),and did not show significant differences from AA.The AA showed significantly higher content of total amino acids(TAAs)than GG(P<0.05).The AH progeny displayed significantly higher taurine(Tau)content than GG(P<0.05),and the heterosis value was 27.88%.Therefore,the backcross breeding was shown an effective way to improve the glycogen,fatty acids,and TAAs of GG,and the glycogen of AA.This study provided useful information to characterize the benefits of backcrossing in nutritional quality,which will facilitate the production of differentiated products and increase the efficiency of the oyster industry.

文摘The mechanisms underlying sex determination and differentiation have long intrigued researchers in the fields of development and evolutionary biology.The roughskin sculpin(Trachidermus fasciatus Heckel),displaying sexual dimorphism,provides an ideal model for studying the mechanisms.However,both genetic and genomic information concerning sex determination and differentiation,such as gonadal transcriptome data in roughskin sculpin,are lacking.Here,we present the first gonadal transcriptomes of roughskin sculpin and identify sex-related genes.We identified 8531 differentially expressed genes(DEGs),among them 4065 were upregulated in the ovary and 4466 upregulated in the testis.Several sex-related gene ontology(GO)terms were enriched in ovary-biased genes,including“binding of sperm to zona pellucida”,“egg coat formation”,“positive regulation of acrosome reaction”,“cell division”,and“cell cycle”,while the GO terms such as“spermatogenesis”,“sperm axoneme assembly”,“cilium assembly”,“cilium movement”,and“cilium movement involved in cell motility”were enriched in testis-biased genes.Moreover,six KEGG pathways were significantly enriched in the ovary,whereas only one was enriched in the testis.Of these DEGs,40 sex-related genes were identified,which including 26 testis-biased genes(such as Dmrtb 1,Gsdf,Sox 9 b,Wnt 4 b,Tcp 11 l 2,and Efhb),and 14 ovary-biased genes(such as Cyp 19 a 1 a,Foxh 1,Foxr 1,Gdf 3,Hsd 17 b 12,and Igf 2 bp 3).This gonadal transcript dataset would broaden our understanding of sex determination and differentiation mechanisms in roughskin sculpin,expand the genomic database,support future studies on sex-related gene functions,and facilitate molecular biology research into roughskin sculpin.

文摘The function of exogenous alanine(Ala)in regulating biomass accumulation,lipid production,photosynthesis,and respiration in Chlorella pyrenoidosa was studied.Result shows that the supplementation of Ala increased C.pyrenoidosa biomass and lipid production in an 8-d batch culture.The concentration of 10 mmol/L of Ala was optimum and increased the microalgal cell biomass and lipid content by 39.3%and 21.4%,respectively,compared with that in the control(0-mmol/L Ala).Ala supplementation reduced photosynthetic activity while boosting respiratory activity and pyruvate levels,indicating that C.pyrenoidosa used exogenous Ala for biomass accumulation through the respiratory metabolic process.The accelerated respiratory metabolism due to Ala supplementation elevated the substrate pool and improved the lipogenic gene expression,promoting lipid production at last.This study provided a novel method for increasing biomass accumulation and lipid production and elucidated the role of Ala in regulating lipid production.

文摘The subtropical North and South Pacific Meridional Modes(NPMM and SPMM)are well known precursors of El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO).However,relationship between them is not constant.In the early 1980,the relationship experienced an interdecadal transition.Changes in this connection can be attributed mainly to the phase change of the Pacific decadal oscillation(PDO).During the positive phase of PDO,a shallower thermocline in the central Pacific is responsible for the stronger trade wind charging(TWC)mechanism,which leads to a stronger equatorial subsurface temperature evolution.This dynamic process strengthens the connection between NPMM and ENSO.Associated with the negative phase of PDO,a shallower thermocline over southeastern Pacific allows an enhanced wind-evaporation-SST(WES)feedback,strengthening the connection between SPMM and ENSO.Using 35 Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6)models,we examined the NPMM/SPMM performance and its connection with ENSO in the historical runs.The great majority of CMIP6 models can reproduce the pattern of NPMM and SPMM well,but they reveal discrepant ENSO and NPMM/SPMM relationship.The intermodal uncertainty for the connection of NPMM-ENSO is due to different TWC mechanism.A stronger TWC mechanism will enhance NPMM forcing.For SPMM,few models can simulate a good relationship with ENSO.The intermodel spread in the relationship of SPMM and ENSO owing to SST bias in the southeastern Pacific,as WES feedback is stronger when the southeastern Pacific is warmer.

文摘Alginate oligosaccharides(AOS)and fucoidan are two important bioactive carbohydrate which that can be prepared from brown seaweeds.We investigated a novel enzyme-assisted one-pot method on AOS and fucoidan extraction from Lessonia trabeculata,and found that the optimum extraction procedure was:first,using 10-g/L Na_(2)CO_(3) solution to digest the seaweeds for 2 h at 80℃ with the material-liquid ratio 1:20(g/mL),and then adding 4.0%fucoidan cleavage enzyme for reaction for 12 h at 45℃.The yield of AOS and fucoidan was 21.36%and 14.40%,respectively,which was higher than those using traditional methods.The degree of polymerization of AOS was determined to be 3-5,confirming the results through thin layer chromatography(TLC)and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry(ESI-MS).The ratio of guluronic acid to mannuronic acid in AOS was found to be 1.97.Through anion-exchange column chromatography,four sulfated polysaccharide fractions(F0.5,F1.0,F1.5,and F2.0)were successfully isolated from fucoidan.Chemical analysis revealed that fucoidan and F0.5 were heteropolysaccharides,consisting mainly of mannuronic acid,fucose,and xylose,while the other fractions were predominantly composed of fucose and galactose.The sulfate group content increased from 8.74% to 18.76%,while the uronic acid content decreased from 23.79% to 5.58%across the fractions.All fractions of fucoidan exhibited significant antioxidant activity in various tests.There was a positive correlation between the sulfate content and the ability to scavenge superoxide radicals.Additionally,both AOS and the fucoidan fractions showed immunostimulation activity and were nontoxic to RAW264.7 cells.These results indicate that the novel enzyme-assisted one-pot method is a green and efficient approach for the extraction of fucoidan and alginate oligosaccharides from brown seaweeds.It has potential applications in the processing industry of brown seaweeds.

文摘Coastal tidal creeks are important channels for exchanges of material and energy between sea and land,and play an important role in the ecological protection of tidal flats.Although tidal creeks have evolved differently in various regions,the evolutionary process of tidal creeks in the Huanghe(Yellow)River delta of China,one of the most active deltas worldwide,is not entirely clear.Therefore,the evolution of tidal creeks in the delta from 1981 to 2021 was investigated by quantitatively analysing the tidal creeks and developing a standard for dividing their evolution periods.Visual interpretation and supervised classification methods were applied to the Landsat images to extract the tidal creek network,and 17 groups of tidal creek systems were selected.Results indicate that Creek S 1 was the most developed creek for having 113 tidal creeks totaling 65.8 km in length,while Creek E 3 had the fastest growth rate for having average annual increase of 1.9 km.Meanwhile,the level of tidal creeks increased,the average and median lengths of tidal creeks increased,and the number of tidal creeks decreased since 1981.The evolution of the tidal creek system could be divided into four stages,namely,rising,developing,stabilizing,and degrading.Analyses of a representative tidal creek show that there was no degenerated tidal creek during the rising period,with an increase in the number of 50 and a length increase of 57.9 km between 1981 and 1989.The proportion of new tidal creeks in the developing period was more than 50%and the new tidal creeks in the stabilizing period were equal to the degraded tidal creeks.Extinct tidal creeks were greater than 50%during the degrading period.There was no fixed order of tidal creek evolution in each period,and there may be a skip in evolution.Our findings provided a reference for studying the evolution of tidal creeks.

文摘China’s Bohai Bay has experienced large-scale land reclamation since 2000.These reclamation projects create a nearshore ecological imbalance and shift sediment transport by changing the tidal current.However,these tidal current changes are not comprehensively understood.In this paper,the coastline changes in Bohai Bay due to reclamation are investigated and the responses of the tidal current are calculated through numerical methods.The results show that the coastline length of the bay increases by more than 500 km from 2000 to 2015 with the largest reclamation rate of 150.9 km^(2)/a.Consequently,the current velocity changes with an uneven distribution near the reclamation due to construction masking and dike protrusion.The tidal symmetry also changes in most nearshore areas,with opposite variations in the current velocity at peak flood and ebb tide.In addition,the tide direction deflects to bypass the reclamation and is usually consistent with the coastline.Harmonic analysis of the dominant M2 tidal constituent shows that the range of the reciprocating current is widely extended.The total influence of the reclamation can reach the-8-m isobaths in Bohai Bay.Changes in the tidal current are the main causes of water environment deterioration.Therefore,the arrangement and structural optimization of reclamation projects should be considered in the future.

文摘Although the microbial diversity of the Indian Ocean has been extensively investigated,little is known about the community composition of microbes in the Southern Indian Ocean.In the present study,we divided 60 water column samples on the Ninety-East Ridge(NER)into fi ve water masses according to the temperature-salinity curves.We presented,for the fi rst time,a full description of the microbial biodiversity on NER through high-throughput amplicon sequencing approach,including bacteria,archaea,and fungi.We found that bacteria exhibited higher richness and diversity than archaea and fungi across the water masses on NER.More importantly,each water mass on NER featured distinct prokaryotic microbial communities,as indicated by the results of non-metric multidimensional scaling.In contrast,fungi were eurybathic across the water masses.Redundancy analysis results demonstrated that environmental factors might play a pivotal role in the formation and stability of prokaryotic communities in each water mass,especially that of archaea.In addition,indicator species might be used as fi ngerprints to identify corresponding water masses on NER.These results provide new insights into the vertical distribution,structure,and diversity of microorganisms on NER from the perspective of water mass.

文摘Magnetotactic bacteria(MTB)intact cells have been applied in magnetic hyperthermia therapy of tumor,showing great efficiency in heating for tumor cell inhibition.However,the detailed magnetic hyperthermia properties and optimum heat production conditions of MTB cells are still poorly understood due to lack of standard measuring equipment.The specific absorption rate(SAR)of MTB cells is often measured by home-made equipment at a limited frequency and magnetic field amplitude.In this study,we have used a commercial standard system to implement a comprehensive study of the hyperthermic response of Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense MSR-1 strain under 7 frequencies of 144-764 kHz,and 8 field amplitudes between 10 and 45 kA/m.The measurement results prove that the SAR of MTB cells increases with magnetic field frequency and amplitude within a certain range.In combination with the magnetic measurements,it is determined that the magnetic hyperthermia mechanism of MTB mainly follows the principle of hysteresis loss,and the heat efficiency of MTB cells in alternating magnetic field are mainly aff ected by three parameters of hysteresis loop,saturation magnetisation,saturation remanent magnetisation,and coercivity.Thus when we culture MTB in LA-2 medium containing sodium nitrate as source of nitrogen,the SAR of MTB LA-2 cells with magnetosomes arranged in chains can be as high as 4925.6 W/g(in this work,all SARs are calculated with iron mass)under 764 kHz and 30 kA/m,which is 7.5 times than current commercial magnetic particles within similar size range.

文摘The content and distribution pattern of rare earth elements(REEs)in surface sediments from the Eastern and Western Pacifi c Ocean,the Northern and Southern Atlantic Ocean,and the Southwestern Indian Ocean were explored and the resources and geochemical characteristics of REEs in deep-ocean sediments from diff erent oceans were studied.The total REE abundances(ΣREE)in the diff erent oceans ranged as follows:Eastern Pacifi c,56.88–500.02μg/g;Western Pacifi c,290.68–439.94μg/g;Northern Atlantic,55.33–154.90μg/g;Southern Atlantic,40.83–69.30μg/g;and Southwestern Indian Ocean,20.24–64.76μg/g.Their corresponding LREE(La-Eu)/HREE(Gd-Lu)average values were 5.18,5.86,9.01,5.21,and 4.59,which indicated that the light REEs were all evidently enriched.δEu andδCe showed slight Eu-negative anomalies and signifi cant Ce-positive anomalies in all sediments.Although the contents of REEs in the sediments varied among the diff erent oceans,the distribution patterns of REEs were similar,and the correlation coeffi cient was greater than 0.9290.In the Eastern Pacifi c sediments,ΣREE showed a signifi cantly positive correlation with Co,Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo and a weak correlation with Fe.In the Western Pacifi c and Southern Atlantic sediments,ΣREE presented no obvious correlation and a weakly negative correlation with Co,Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo and Fe,respectively.ΣREE in the Southwestern Indian Ocean sediments positively correlated with Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo,Fe,and had a weakly negative correlation with Co.
文摘Since coastal areas have highly dynamic nature and are one of the most beneficial regions of civilizations,it is of great significance to understand their characteristics and behavior.Changes in shorelines in the form of accretion and erosion can leave devastating effects on businesses and cities located along the shore.In this study,we statistically calculated the tendency of shoreline changes by processing and analyzing historical satellite images of Boushehr Province,Iran.Results show that these shores have experienced both sedimentation and erosion in the past 30 years.Net shoreline movement presents more than 350 m of erosion and 650 m of accretion,which are corresponded to change rates of almost 12 and 22 m/a,respectively.Statistics of shoreline changes are calculated from regression methods including end point rate,linear regression rate,weighted linear regression,and least median of squares.The best-performed method is applied to predict the shoreline position in 2050 and 2100.Potential locations of excessive changes are identified for the predicted shorelines,which should be dealt with properly.

文摘Phenol is a common industrial chemical produced and transported worldwide largely.Therefore,accidental spillage of phenol in the ocean causes an increasing concern.Microalgae are promising to remove phenol from marine waters.However,temperature and light intensity are two main factors that markedly influence biodegradation in marine environments.In this study,a marine golden alga Isochrysis galbana is selected to research the removal of phenol under different temperatures(10-30℃)and light intensities(0-240μmol/(m^2·s)).The results show that the most suitable temperature and light intensity for phenol removal are 20℃and 180μmol/(m2·s),respectively,and 100 mg/L of phenol can be completely removed by microalga in 24 h at these conditions.I.galbana can also remove phenol under dark and low-temperature conditions.The removal of phenol by I.galbana at diverse temperatures and light intensities conform to first-order kinetics,and the process under dark conditions conform to zero-order kinetics.Thus,I.galbana can be used in the in-situ bioremediation of polluted seawater by phenol.

文摘Sediment grain size in the deltaic environment of the Luanhe River(LR),Liaoning,China,contains sediment transport pathway information useful in elucidating the shoreline change and fluvialmarine interaction.In this study,we utilized numerical partitioning of the sedimentary components and geostatistical grain size trend analysis(GSTA)to define the sediment transport pattern in the Luanhe River delta(LRD)and interpolated the sediment transport pattern using content changes of end numbers(EM).EM1(the mean grain size 7.12Ф,fine silt),EM2(2.37Ф,fine sand),and EM3(1.27Ф,medium sand)components were identified by the numerical partitioning by GSTA.Kriging interpolation method was used to interpolate the parameters of the grain size for the regular grid,and the interpolation radius was 0.015 decimal degree.We chose 0.09 decimal degree as the characteristic distance for GSTA in the semivariogram model using the geostatistical method.The FB(-)case(finer,better sorted and more negatively skewed)was adopted in GSTA for its satisfaction in the Global Moran’s I test.The result of the GSTA shows that the sediments in the south barriers(SBs)were transported to the southwest of the study area.The sediments in the north,in the SE direction of sediment transport trend from the river mouth,indicated that the sediments in the north of the study area were transported from the LR to the northern beaches,and to the south and east of the study area.The sediment transport trend that simplified by GSTA as the FB(-)case was approved by the content changes of sedimentary components(i.e.EM1,EM2,and EM3).In addition,the turbulent jet diffusion pattern indicated that the coarse sediments(EM3)were delivered by LR during the flood season,and the EM2 and EM1 were from wave and tide,respectively.

文摘Data from satellite altimetry and in situ observations together with the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) reanalysis data were used to investigate the mechanism and formation of an anticyclonic eddy in the northeastern South China Sea (SCS). Analysis of water mass using cruise data indicated that the water captured in the eddy diff ers from those in the SCS, the Kuroshio intrusion, and the eddy-forming region. Data from sea surface height (SSH) and sea level anomaly (SLA) indicate that the eddy formed due both to the Kuroshio intrusion and the local circulation in the SCS. The Kuroshio intrusion is present at the start of the eddy growth (March 5-9) before Kuroshio leaps the Luzon Strait. The eddy then becomes larger and stronger in the absence of the Kuroshio intrusion. From the eddy budget of the HYCOM reanalysis data, the formation of the eddy goes in three steps. By the third step, the eddy had become aff ected by variations of local SCS circulation, which is more strongly than in the fi rst step in which it is aff ected more by the Kuroshio intrusion. The variability of the temperature and salinity inside the eddy provide a support to this conclusion. The water in the SCS intruded into the eddy from the southeast, which decrease the salinity gradually in the southern part of the eddy during the growth period.

文摘An unusual feature of the saline stratified lakes that were formed due to ongoing postglacial uplift on the White Sea coast is the presence of several differently colored thin layers in the zone with sharp gradients. Colored layers in five lakes at various stages of separation from the sea were investigated using optical microscopy, spectrophotometry, spectrofluorimetry, and photobiology. The upper greenish colored layer located in the aerobic strata of all lakes near the compensation depth of 1% light penetration contains green algae. In the chemocline, another layer, brightly green, red or pink, is dominated by mixotrophic flagellates. Despite the very low light intensities and the presence of H 2 S, active photosynthesis by these algae appears to be occurring, as indicated by high values of the maximum quantum yield of primary photochemistry, electron transport activity, photosynthetic activity of photosystem II, the fraction of active centers, and low values of heat dissipation. In the reduced zone of the chemocline, a dense green or brown suspension of anoxygenic phototrophs(green sulfur bacteria) is located.

文摘Study on shrimp miRNAs was limited and just 7 mature miRNA sequences of Marsupenaeus japonicus are deposited in mir Base database. In this study, miRNAs and their target gene candidates were computationally identified from shrimp Penaeu s monodon and then experimentally validated. Using 39 908 expressed sequence tags(ESTs) and 21 124 genome survey sequences(GSSs) of P. monodon(pmo) as reference dataset, a comprehensive approach based on inter-species homolog search was employed to investigate the candidate miRNAs(i.e. pmo-miRNA). A total of eight miRNAs belonging to 7 families were computationally identified and five out of them were subsequently validated by PCR and sequencing. Of these, pmo-miR-4961a, pmo-miR-4961b, pmo-miR-4979 and pmo-miR-3819 were first identified from shrimps. Both the mature pmo-miRNAs and the corresponding precursors were conserved among different species. Based on perfect or near-perfect match to the target region, the target gene candidates of pmomiRNAs were predicted from 10 331 mRNA sequences of P. monodon. A total of 20 genes were predicted as the targets of pmo-miR-4961a, pmo-miR-4961b, pmo-miR-4979 and pmo-miR-6492. Experimental validation by dual luciferase reporter assay confi rmed the targeting between 3 pmo-miRNAs and one or two of their target genes, especially the pmo-miR-4979 which could significantly down-regulate the expression of target gene(JR226772). This study updates the miRNAs and their targets in P. monodon and lays a solid foundation for future RNAi study.

文摘Internal solitary waves(ISWs)are an essential dynamic process in the ocean due to their large amplitude and long propagation distance.Traditional satellite observations provide only twodimensional observations of ocean signatures induced by ISWs.The Surface Water and Ocean Topography(SWOT)satellite has drawn significant attention due to its high resolution and threedimensional observation capabilities.SWOT can generate high-precision three-dimensional sea surface topography,capture sea surface undulations,and reveal ISW-related surface oscillations,thus offering a new perspective for studying ISWs.We collected 43 SWOT observations with clear ISW signatures in the Lombok Strait from August 2023 to June 2024.Based on collected data,the ISW imaging characteristics and distributions were analyzed,and the ISW-related sea level anomaly(SLA)data were measured by the SWOT to calculate the ISW amplitude and reveal the amplitude variations during the propagation along the wave crest.The ISW amplitudes generally range between 10 and 100 m,with most ISW amplitudes between 20 and 40 m.By analyzing two consecutive generated ISW packets,we identified the spreading effect along ISW wave crests,which manifests as ISW amplitude decrease with increase in propagation distance,and the amplitude distribution is non-uniform along the wave crest.Further analysis of the propagation paths of the maximum amplitude of ISW moving northward through the Lombok Strait revealed that these maxima are predominantly oriented in northeast direction.Finally,the relationship between the amplitude of ISW and the resulting SLA was analyzed.The Pearson correlation coefficient between these two variables is as high as 0.90,which suggests a strong positive correlation between amplitude and SLA.Furthermore,this relationship is closely related to the water depth,indicating that the three-dimensional sea surface observations provided by SWOT offer crucial observational data for the inversion of amplitudes of ISW.

文摘Sea surface temperature(SST)is an important ocean variable affecting climate change.It plays an important role in the interactions between the ocean and the atmosphere,and it also has an effect on the transport of heat,freshwater,and carbon.Therefore,accurate SST prediction is necessary for understanding climate change and protecting ocean ecosystems.In this study,we proposed a hybrid model to predict SST in the tropical Pacific Ocean based on two single deep-learning models.Results indicate that the proposed hybrid model shows superior prediction accuracy at all lead times compared to the single model.Specifically,during El Niño periods,the root mean square error,mean absolute error,and Pearson correlation coefficient of the hybrid model forecasts were approximately 0.54℃,0.40℃,and 0.98,respectively,while during La Niña periods,these metrics were 0.55℃,0.39℃,and 0.98,respectively.Notably,the hybrid model was able to capture the spatial distribution of SSTs during the El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)events more accurately relative to a single model.Moreover,the prediction results of the hybrid model in different ocean regions exhibited lower prediction errors and higher correlations.The ablation experiments showed that sea surface wind(SSW)had different effects on SST at different times.By combining SST and SSW data,the model can make more-accurate predictions under different climatic conditions.The proposed hybrid model is able to predict SSTs quickly and accurately with better robustness during ENSO.
