In this paper, an evaluation model of coal dust and gas explosions was constructed based on a fuzzy fault tree by taking the Xingli Coal Mine as a research site to identify the risk factors of coal dust and gas explosions.Furthermore, the hazards associated with such explosions were evaluated for this particular coal mine. After completing an on-site investigation, the fuzzy probabilities of basic events were obtained through expert scoring, and these expert opinions were then aggregated as trapezoidal fuzzy numbers to calculate the degrees of importance of all basic events. Finally, these degrees of importance were sorted. According to the resulting order, the basic events with higher probabilities were determined to identify key hazards in the daily safety management of this particular coal mine. Moreover, effective measures for preventing gas and coal dust explosions were derived. The fuzzy fault tree analysis method is of high significance in the analysis of accidental coal mine explosions and provides theoretical guidance for improving the efficiency of coal mine safety management in a scientific and feasible manner.展开更多

The as-synthesized samples were found to have hexagonal wurtzite coexisted with the intermediate Zn5(OH)sC12·H2O phase, while the single hexagonal phase was facilitated due to the calcinations. The as obtained samples were broadly composed ofnanoflakes while the highly crystalline nanorods were formed due to low temperature annealing of the as-synthesized samples. The crystallite size of the nanoflakes and nanorods (40-90 nm) were extracted from the XRD pattern which was found to be consistent with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra of nanophosphors showed bright red and orange emissions at 618 and 594 nm respectively with efficient broad blue green emis- sion spectrum due to ZnO lattice. Further, a good energy transfer process from ZnO host to Eu3+ was observed in PL emission and excitation spectra of Eu3+ doped ZnO ions. In all, the present nanophosphors were found to have great potentiality for bio-appli- cations.展开更多

Miners in underground mines ...The increasing use of diesel-powered equipment in confined spaces(underground mines) has the potential to over expose underground miners under the threat of diesel particulate matter(DPM). Miners in underground mines can be exposed to DPM concentrations far more than works in other industries. A great number of animal and epidemiological studies have shown that both short-term and long-term DPM exposure have adverse health effect. Based on reviews of related studies, especially some recent evidence, this paper investigated the long and short-term health effects based on animal studies and epidemiological studies. The exposure-response relationship studies were also explored and compared to the current DPM regulation or standards in some countries. This paper found that the DPM health effect studies specifically for miners are not sufficient to draw solid conclusions, and a recommendation limit of DPM concentration can be put in place for better protection of miners from DPM health risk. Current animal studies lack the use of species that have similar lung functions as human for understanding the cancer mode of action in human. And finally, the DPM health hazard will continue to be a challenging topic before the mode of action and reliable exposure-response relationship are established.展开更多

In open pit mining, the complexity of operations, coupled with a highly uncertain and dynamic production environment, limit the accuracy of predictions and force a reactive planning approach to mitigate deviations from original plans. A simulation optimization framework/tool is presented in this paper to account for uncertainties in mining operations for robust short-term production planning and proactive decision making. This framework/tool uses a discrete event simulation model of mine operations, which interacts with a goalprogramming based mine operational optimization tool to develop an uncertainty based short-term schedule. Using scenario analysis, this framework allows the planner to make proactive decisions to achieve the mine's operational and long-term objectives. This paper details the development of simulation and optimization models and presents the implementation of the framework on an iron ore mine case study for verification through scenario analysis.展开更多

文摘Underground carbon sequestration(CS)by solid waste backfill(SWB)offers an effective pathway for collaborative disposal of coal-based solid waste and CO_(2),where the amount of carbon sequestration is an important evaluation parameter. In this study, the concept of whole-process carbon sequestration using coal-based solid waste and CO_(2),including sequential stirring and curing stages, was proposed to evaluate the performance evolution of CS.The results showed that CO_(2) pressure and ambient temperature positively correlated with the CS amount from coal-based SWB.In particular,CO_(2) pressure prevailed in the stirring stage, while the ambient temperature effect was more significant in the curing stage. The CS amounts obtained during the stirring stage alone, the curing stage alone, and two sequential stages ranged from 0.66%–3.10%,3.53%–5.09%,and 5.12%–6.02%,respectively.The functional group and micromorphology analyses revealed that the prevailing mechanism at the CS stirring stage was the stirringdriven gas dissolution-leaching-mineralization reaction, while that at the curing stage was the hydration-driven gas permeation-dissociation-CS reaction. Both were essentially solid-liquid-gas multiphase chemical reactions. The results are instrumental in substantiating the coal-based SWB carbon sequestration evolution patterns and mechanisms and providing data support for waste disposal and carbon emission reduction in the coal industry.

文摘The diversion effect caused by the linked structure in a metro tunnel with cross-passage complicates the impact of longitudinal fire source location on the smoke backflow layering behavior that has not been clarified, despite the fact that the scenario exists in practice.A series of laboratory-scale experiments were conducted in this study to investigate the smoke back-layering length in a model tunnel with cross-passage.The heat release rate, the velocity of longitudinal air flow, and the location of the fire source were all varied. It was found that the behavior of smoke backflow for the fire source located at the upstream of bifurcation point resembles a single-hole tunnel fire.As the fire source’s position shifts downstream from the bifurcation point, the length of smoke back-layering progressively increases.A competitive interaction exists between airflow diversion and smoke diversion during smoke backflow, significantly affecting the smoke back-layering length in the main tunnel. The dimensionless smoke back-layering length model was formulated in a tunnel featuring a cross-passage,taking into account the positions of longitudinal fire sources. The dimensionless smoke back-layering length exhibits a positive correlation with the 17/18 power of total heat release rate Q and a negative correlation with the 5/2 power of longitudinal ventilation velocity V.

文摘Coal mine underground reservoirs help address the severe water imbalance in ecologically fragile mining regions of western China, but evaluating their storage capacity remains challenging due to the coupled effects of gangue deformation, saturation, and goaf geometry. This study investigates the deformation and void evolution of fragmented gangue with varying lithologies, particle sizes, and water contents through an independent-developed testing system and theoretical model.A planar micro-unit model and a three-dimensional spatial structure model are proposed to quantify the storage coefficient and total reservoir capacity of underground water storage structures. These models incorporate the effects of stratified lithologies,saturation-induced softening, and spatially distributed stress conditions. The methodology is applied to the underground reservoir in Chahasu coal mine, and the results show that under increasing stress, storage coefficients decline exponentially, with pronounced differences between single-and double-lithology structures. The storage coefficient in the spatial model demonstrate greater resilience to stress concentration compared to planar models, and further analysis identifies critical thresholds in roof fracture distances and stress-recovery times affecting long-term storage performance. This research provides a comprehensive framework for evaluating underground reservoir storage potential, offering theoretical support and engineering guidance for the sustainable utilization of mine water.

文摘Perovskite oxides are highly promising catalysts for the combustion removal of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)due to their excellent stability, structural flexibility, and compositional versatility. This study presents a novel perovskite oxide that exhibits enhanced catalytic activity and superior durability for toluene combustion at reduced temperatures. This improvement is achieved by phosphorus doping at the B-site of LaCoO_(3-δ)(LC)perovskite oxide, followed by post-synthesis acid etching for a proper time. The resulting catalyst demonstrates increased specific surface area, higher total pore volume, and enhanced oxygen vacancy concentration both in the bulk and on the surface.Additionally, the activity of surface lattice oxygen species is significantly improved, leading to enhanced catalytic performance in toluene combustion.Notably, the optimized catalyst shows an exceptionally low activation energy(E_(a))of 49.3 kJ mol^(-1),with a T90 reduction of over 214℃compared to the phosphorus doped LC and 190℃compared to pristine LC.Phosphorus doping plays a main role in significantly improving the long-term durability, particularly in the presence of CO_(2)and H_(2)O,while acid etching boosts the catalytic activity. This work introduces a rational and innovative strategy for optimizing VOC oxidation by improving the structure and surface chemical states of perovskite catalysts.

文摘In this study, copper extraction from low-grade oxide-sulfide ores was investigated using a leaching method combined with response surface methodology(RSM)to optimize operational conditions and assess leaching kinetics.Given copper's extensive industrial applications, sustainable recovery from low-grade ores is critical.Five key parameters-acid concentration, leaching time, particle size, temperature, and solids percentage-were identified as major influences on copper recovery. The results revealed that leaching time and solids percentage, along with interactions between temperature-time and temperature-solids percentage, had the most significant effects.Optimal conditions for 80% copper recovery while minimizing iron recovery below 3% included an acid concentration of 1.21 mol L^(-1),a leaching time of 108 min,a particle size of 438μm,a temperature of 45℃,and a solids percentage of 18.2%.Leaching kinetics were analyzed using shrinking core models, with the Dickinson model best describing the process, showing an activation energy of 32.63 kJ mol^(-1),indicative of mixed diffusion and chemical reaction control. The final kinetic model effectively predicted the influence of key parameters. These findings highlight the importance of optimizing process variables and selecting suitable kinetic models to enhance extraction efficiency, reduce costs, and improve sustainability in copper recovery.

文摘This study provides new evidence for a significant Neoproterozoic tectono-thermal event in the southern Dharwar Craton, based on U-Pb dating of rutile and monazite from metamorphic rocks of the Sargur Group.Trace element analysis of rutile in garnet-bearing amphibolite,amphibolite,garnet-bearing staurolite-kyanite schist, and grunerite-garnet schist suggests that their protoliths were primarily basaltic rocks, sediments with mafic component, pelitic sediments, and mixed sediments with both mafic and felsic components, respectively.Rutile U-Pb ages of 625±22 Ma(garnet-bearing amphibolite),752±5.1 Ma(amphibolite),836±4 Ma to 663±26 Ma(garnet-bearing staurolite kyanite schist)and 860±13 Ma(grunerite-garnet schist),along with a monazite U-Pb age of 789±4.4 Ma(garnet-bearing staurolite kyanite schist),record a significant Neoproterozoic(860-625 Ma)tectono-thermal event along the southern margin of the western Dharwar Craton. This event is most likely associated with aborted rift-related alkaline magmatism along the northern margin of the Southern Granulite Terrane(SGT)and the southern margin of the Dharwar Craton.Given the lack of direct evidence for the assembly of the Rodinia supercontinent in the Dharwar Craton and SGT,this Neoproterozoic event is unlikely to be related to the breakup of Rodinia.

文摘The Rukwa Rift section of the East Africa Rift System presents a type setting for radiogenic helium accumulation in a petroleum free basin. As a prerequisite for accumulation,a considerable high heat flow anomaly is required from tectonothermal events to drive the release and circulation of radiogenic helium in the continental crust. Here we apply statistical analysis on geochemical data observed in thermal springs and recorded heat flow to account for crustal helium mass balance for each tectonothermal event in the region. Our results demonstrate anomalously high heat flow~64-99 mW/m^(2) with a consistent trend of helium isotopic ratio and fluid chemistry in the Rukwa Rift.Mass balance calculation show that the whole crustal volume underlying the East Africa Helium Pool(EAHP)has a capability of producing radiogenic helium of about 9.9×10^(6) mol/yr(22×10^(-6) mol 4He/m^(2) yr)while the total radiogenic helium flux ranges between~2.39×10^(6) mol/yr and~2.68×10^(9) mol/yr.The Tanzania Craton contributes largely to radiogenic helium releasing up to 50% of the total capacity in the region. The total ^(4)He emission in the Rukwa Rift Basin is about 4.45×10^(5)-5.01×10^(8) mol/yr which is thus equivalent to 19%-21% of the total production capacity in the region. These results imply that the helium accumulation in the EAHP would have started as early as Paleoproterozoic(2.349 Ga).These results provide a qualitative and quantitative insight to assess both helium and geothermal potentiality in the region.

文摘Cemented rockfill(CRF)combines structural support with sustainable reuse of coal-derived solid waste. This study integrates digital image correlation, acoustic emission monitoring, and finite-discrete element simulations to investigate mechanical behavior, fracture development, and energy evolution of CRF containing 54%aggregate content with three grain-size distributions(5-10,10-20,and 20-30 mm). Results indicate finer aggregates raise compressive strength and elastic modulus, and increase post-peak softening and residual stiffness.Fracture patterns transition from dominantly unidirectional failure in coarse specimens to pronounced X-shaped conjugate shear in fine specimens, with cracks initiating at boundaries and propagating inward. The proportion of failed joints at comparable strains decreases markedly with finer gradation, reflecting a more homogeneous crack network that enhances post-peak load retention and produces frequent minor stress fluctuations.Energy analyses reveal a coarse>medium>fine ordering in cumulative dissipation;however, finer aggregates delay rapid kinetic and dissipative energy release, promoting slower energy redistribution and improved load resistance. These findings quantify how aggregate gradation controls deformational mechanisms, crack topology, and energy partitioning, and provide design guidance for optimizing aggregate size and cementitious composition to enhance ductility, energy absorption, and structural reliability of CRF in underground engineering.

文摘Traditional mining in open pit mines often uses explosives, leading to environmental hazards, with flyrock being a critical issue. In detail, excess flying rock beyond the designated explosion area was identified as the primary cause of fatal and non-fatal blasting hazards in open pit mining. Therefore, the accurate and reliable prediction of flyrock becomes crucial for effectively managing and mitigating associated problems. This study used the Light Gradient Boosting Machine(LightGBM)model to predict flyrock in a lead-zinc mine, with promising results. To improve its accuracy,multi-verse optimizer(MVO)and ant lion optimizer(ALO)metaheuristic algorithms were introduced. Results showed MVO-LightGBM outperformed conventional LightGBM.Additionally, decision tree(DT),support vector machine(SVM),and classification and regression tree(CART)models were trained and compared with MVO-LightGBM.The MVO-LightGBM model excelled over DT,SVM,and CART.This study highlights MVO-LightGBM's effectiveness and potential for broader applications.Furthermore,a multiple parametric sensitivity analysis(MPSA)algorithm was employed to specify the sensitivity of parameters.MPSA results indicated that the highest and lowest sensitivities are relevant to blasted rock per hole and spacing with theγ=1752.12 andγ=49.52,respectively.

文摘Aiming at the problem of dynamic instability of hard-brittle jointed rock surrounding in deep tunnel/roadway engineering, combining with the support concepts of"coupling rigidity with flexibility"and"overcoming rigidity by flexibility",the prevention and control method with"rigid-flexible coupling(R-F-C)"was put forward.Through numerical simulation calculation, the impact damage process, acoustic emission(AE)evolution characteristics, and element stress/displacement evolution characteristics of unsupported surrounding rock structure model, rigid supporting surrounding rock structure model,and"R-F-C"supporting surrounding rock structure model under horizontal bidirectional impact loading were compared and analyzed.Based on the theory of stress wave propagation, the dynamic instability catastrophe mechanism of three kinds of supporting structure models induced by horizontal bidirectional impact loading was revealed.Based on the Mohr-Coulomb strength theory, the stress discrimination methods of dynamic catastrophe of surrounding rock induced by horizontal bidirectional impact loading under three kinds of supporting structures were proposed.Combined with the above numerical simulation study, the explosion impact physical and mechanical test of"R-F-C"surrounding rock supporting plate structure was further designed and carried out. Finally, combined with the"conceptual model of ball-cliff potential energy instability",the energy driving theory and energy transformation mechanism of impact-induced rockburst under three kinds of supporting structures were discussed deeply. The research results provided a scientific basis for further promoting the effective application of"R-F-C"supporting structure in the prevention and control of dynamic instability of deep tunnel/roadway surrounding rock.

文摘During the past decade, coal dust and gas explosions have been the most two serious types of disasters in China, threatening the lives of miners and causing significant losses in terms of national property. The fuzzy fault tree analysis method is of high significance in the analysis of accidental coal mine explosions and provides theoretical guidance for improving the efficiency of coal mine safety management in a scientific and feasible manner.
文摘Abstract: Trivalent europium doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Eu3+) nanocrystals were synthesized via room temperature chemical co-pre- cipitation and they were systematically characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. In all, the present nanophosphors were found to have great potentiality for bio-appli- cations.
文摘The increasing use of diesel-powered equipment in confined spaces(underground mines) has the potential to over expose underground miners under the threat of diesel particulate matter(DPM). And finally, the DPM health hazard will continue to be a challenging topic before the mode of action and reliable exposure-response relationship are established.
文摘Work injuries in mines are complex and generally characterized by several factors starting from personal to technical and technical to social characteristics. In this paper, investigation was made through the application of structural equation modeling to study the nature of relationships between the influencing/associating personal factors and work injury and their sequential relationships leading towards work injury occurrences in underground coal mines.Six variables namely, rebelliousness, negative affectivity, job boredom, job dissatisfaction and work injury were considered in this study.Instruments were developed to quantify them through a questionnaire survey.Underground mine workers were randomly selected for the survey.Responses from 300 participants were used for the analysis. The structural model of LISREL was used to estimate the interrelationships amongst the variables. The case study results show that negative affectivity and job boredom induce more job dissatisfaction to the workers whereas risk taking attitude of the individual is positively influenced by job dissatisfaction as well as by rebelliousness characteristics of the individual. Finally, risk taking and job dissatisfaction are having positive significant direct relationship with work injury. The findings of this study clearly reveal that rebelliousness, negative affectivity and job boredom are the three key personal factors influencing work related injuries in mines that need to be addressed properly through effective safety programs.

文摘Accuracy in predictions leads to better planning with a minimum of opportunity lost. This paper details the development of simulation and optimization models and presents the implementation of the framework on an iron ore mine case study for verification through scenario analysis.
