BACKGROUND Lung cancer is a common disease with high mortality, and psychological support is very important in the diagnosis and treatment of postoperative patients with cancer pain.AIM To explore the application effect of the narrative nursing method in postoperative lung cancer patients in the intensive care unit.METHODS A total of 120 patients diagnosed with lung cancer and experiencing cancer-related pain were randomly allocated into two groups:an observation group and a control group, each consisting of 60 cases. The control group was given routine analgesic and psychological care, while the research group applied the five-step narrative nursing method based on routine care, comparing the visual analogue scale scores, sleep status, anxiety and depression status, and quality of life of the two groups of patients before and after the intervention.RESULTS The pain scores, anxiety scores, and depression scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group after the intervention using the narrative nursing method, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Using narrative nursing methods to intervene in patients with lung cancer combined with cancerous pain can help patients to correctly recognize their disease, adjust their mentality, establish confidence, alleviate patients'subjective pain feelings, and improve their adverse emotions. 展开更多

We demonstrate a 10. 7Gb/s-line-rate L-band wavelength-division-multiplexer (WDM) loop transmission over a 1890-kin standard single-mode fibre (SSMF) with a 100-km amplifier spacing as well as non-return-to-zero ... We demonstrate a 10. 7Gb/s-line-rate L-band wavelength-division-multiplexer (WDM) loop transmission over a 1890-kin standard single-mode fibre (SSMF) with a 100-km amplifier spacing as well as non-return-to-zero (NRZ) format. The dispersion compensating fibre (DCF) plus chirped tibre Bragg grating (CFBG) is employed for hybrid inline dispersion compensation. The power penalty of each channel is less than 3 dB after three-loop transmission. The experimental results show that high-performance CFBGs can be successfully used in ultra-long haul (〉 1000km) WDM systems. We also point out that the all-CFBG compensation scheme is not suitable for re-circulating loop transmissions. 展开更多

Background In recent years, the preparation of transparent glass in the visible region has led to the development of radiation shielding materials with measuring structure and optical properties. Also, the study on the interaction of neutron radiation with matter is important in the field of radiation protection.Purpose Preparation of transparent calcium and bismuth borate oxide glasses containing Nb^(5+)ions can be used as a neutron radiation shield and determine refractive index with different methods for this glass. Methods Niobium bismuth borate glasses with composition 60B_(2)O_(3)–20CaO–(20−x)Bi_(2)O_(3)–xNb_(2)O_(5),where(x is in mol%,0≤x≤10),have been prepared using conventional melt-quenching technique;the structure of each sample was studied by XRD,FTIR,and UV spectra chart analysis. Results XRD and FTIR showed that all glass samples were highly homogeneous and had structured with short-rangeorder/amorphous solids. The refractive index of each sample was estimated by charts of UV–Vis and FTIR,in addition to an empirical method, and we obtained values very close to each other. The refractive index values are relatively high,so this glass can be used in nonlinear studies as well as luminescence characterization. The macroscopic fast neutron removal cross sections(R/ρ)have calculated, for all samples, and the highest value was in sample containing 2.5%niobium pentoxide. Conclusion Bismuth borate glass containing a few niobium pentoxide can be used as a protective shield of neutrons. 展开更多

Treatment of severe Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19)is challenging. We performed a phase 2 trial to assess the efficacy andsafety of human umbilical cord-mesenchymal stem cells(UC-MScs)to treat severe coViD-19 patients with lung damage, based onour phase 1 data.In this randomized,double-blind,and placebo-controlled trial,we recruited 101 severe coVID-19 patients withlung damage. They were randomly assigned at a 2:1 ratio to receive either UC-MSCs(4×10^(7)cells per infusion)or placebo on day 0,3,and 6.The primary endpoint was an altered proportion of whole lung lesion volumes from baseline to day 28.Other imagingoutcomes,6-minute walk test(6-MWT),maximum vital capacity, diffusing capacity, and adverse events were recorded and analyzed. In all,100 COVID-19 patients were finally received either UC-MSCs in=65)or placebo(n=35).UC-MSCs administrationexerted numerical improvement in whole lung lesion volume from baseline to day 28 compared with the placebo(the mediandifference was-13.31%,95%Cl-29.14%,2.13%,P=0.08).UC-MSCs significanty reduced the proportions of solid componentlesion volume compared with the placebo(median difference:-15.45%;95%CI-30.82%,-0.39%;P=0.043).The 6-MWT showedan increased distance in patients treated with UC-MSCs(difference:27.00 m;95%CI 0.00,57.00;P=0.057).The incidence of adverseevents was similar in the two groups. These results suggest that UC-MSCs treatment is a safe and potentially effective therapeuticapproach for COVID-19 patients with lung damage.A phase 3 trial is required to evaluate effects on reducing mortality andpreventing long-term pulmonary disability. 展开更多

Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a highly contagious disease and a serious threat to human health.COVID-19 can cause multiple organ dysfunction, such as respiratory and circulatory failure, liver and kidney injury, disseminated intravascular coagulation, and thromboembolism, and even death. The World Health Organization reports that the mortality rate of severe-type COVID-19 is over 50%.Currently,the number of severe cases worldwide has increased rapidly, but the experience in the treatment of infected patients is still limited.Given the lack of specific antiviral drugs,multi-organ function support treatment is important for patients with COVID-19.To improve the cure rate and reduce the mortality of patients with severe-and critical-type COVID-19,this paper summarizes the experience of organ function support in patients with severe-and criticaltype COVID-19 in Optical Valley Branch of Tongji Hospital,Wuhan,China. This paper systematically summarizes the procedures of functional support therapies for multiple organs and systems, including respiratory, circulatory, renal, hepatic, and hematological systems, among patients with severe-and critical-type COVID-19.This paper provides a clinical reference and a new strategy for the optimal treatment of COVID-19 worldwide. 展开更多
