From October 27 to October 30, 2015, experts demonstration conference on Guidance of Clinical Practice of Acupuncture （Draft） was held by World Health Organization （WHO） in Guangzhou, China, which was attended by ...From October 27 to October 30, 2015, experts demonstration conference on Guidance of Clinical Practice of Acupuncture （Draft） was held by World Health Organization （WHO） in Guangzhou, China, which was attended by 31 acupuncture experts from 12 countries, including US, Canada, France, etc., and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions. At the conference, the draft of Guidance of Clinical Practice of Acupuncture and clinical practice standardization of acupuncture were discussed. ZHANG Qi, the Director of Traditional Medicine Collaborating Center of WHO, said that government of each country began to attach importance to the quality, safety and effectiveness of traditional remedies services, such as acupuncture and moxibustion. In order to solve these problems, WHO began to make preparations to develop basic standards of clinical practice of acupuncture. The development of guidance of clinical practice can not only guarantee the clinical quality and safety of acupuncture therapy to some extent, but also provide some technical support to the developers of policies and laws and regulations. However, there are still many technical challenges in how to develop a uniform clinical standard for traditional Chinese medicine, which pays great attention to individualized treatment. At the conference, discussion was conducted in the aspects of personnel requirements and basic process of acupuncture therapy, major acupuncture schemes, infrastructures and conditions of acupuncture therapy.展开更多

More than ten acupuncture-moxibustion clinical and scientific experts, as well as editors of acupuncture-moxibustion journals attended the symposium which was presided over by Professor LIU Bao-yan, the editor-in-chief of Chinese Acupuncture ＆ Moxibustion. After a heated discussion, the experts agreed that it is unquestioned that dry needling is a part of acupuncture-moxibustion since the instrument used is acupuncture instrument, the acupoint stimulated is Ashi point （阿是穴） in traditional Chinese acupuncture theory, and the manipulation adopted is acupuncture manipulation which is similar to some current acupuncture therapies in China.
