Further evidence of the fast-moving global trend towards total control of yarn quality comes with the news that Uster Technologies has now delivered 1.5 million of its USTER QUANTUM yarn clearers.

Most of the cotton produced is being traded and exported as a commodity in an international market. The quality of cotton, however, is highly variable, making it difficult to determine its commercial value or price. Cotton classification provides objective assessment of cotton quality and it is the basis for determining the cotton price. Though manual cotton classification is still commonly used in establishing the cotton price, instrument cotton classifi- cation is rapidly spreading in the cotton industry. InternationalOrganization such as the Task Force on Commercial Standard- ization of Instrument Testing of Cotton (CSITC) operated under the authority of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) are actively promoting instruments to replace manual cotton classification worldwide. The USTER_ HVI has been the key instrument in the successful implementation of every existing instrument classing project, and will continue to be in the future.展开更多

A nonlinear viscoelastic model has been proposed to describe the tensile behavior of soybean protein yarns. The model is composed of a Maxwell element, a linear spring and a nonlinear spring. The tensile properties of soybean protein yam are analyzed. The stress-strain curves of the yams are fitted. The average breaking tenacity and specific work of rupture are calculated using the average breaking strain. Comparisons indicate that theoretical predictions conform the experimental results very well.展开更多
