With the vast territory and abundant solar energy resources in western part of China, more t...It was reported that the total installed capacity of photovoltaic power in China has reached 43.5 GW [1] at the end of 2015. With the vast territory and abundant solar energy resources in western part of China, more than 50 percent of photovoltaic power stations and wind farms were built there. In recent years, influenced by such factors as rapid growth in installed capacity of PV power stations and wind farms, power generation districts far away from power consumption load as well as its mismatch in transmission line, the phenomenon of abandoning solar and wind power has already restricted severely the normal operation of photovoltaic and wind power generation. It has greatly reduced the enthusiasm of the investors and constructors for investing and building power stations. This paper, based on the status in quo of power generation market and power supply in China, analyzes multi-aspect reasons for the phenomenon of abandoning solar and wind power and discusses their solutions.展开更多

Indian paper industry has been showing a positive demand growth unlike Europe and USA,despite couple of issues being confronted by the paper industry such as availability of good quality raw material,scale of operatio...Indian paper industry has been showing a positive demand growth unlike Europe and USA,despite couple of issues being confronted by the paper industry such as availability of good quality raw material,scale of operation,cost reduction and environment.In view of the increasing competition among the domestic and the global players,sustainability,green production gaining significance,there is a growing need to upgrade,develop and adopt appropriate advanced technologies tailer made to the requirement of Indian paper industry.In light of above,UNIDO implemented a project supported by DIPP,Govt.of India aimed towards capacity building of the Nodel Research Institute(CPPRI),Indian paper industry’s associations and Indian paper industry.The present article highlights key findings of various activities carried out under the project such as diagnostic assessment of the paper industry,demonstration of identified technologies,dissemination of the findings among the industries and twinning with the international institutions having relevant expertise and training.展开更多

In order to improve the starved lubrication condition of rolling bearings,three kinds of textures,namely dimple,groove texture,and gradient groove texture,were developed on the guiding surface of thrust ball bearings ...In order to improve the starved lubrication condition of rolling bearings,three kinds of textures,namely dimple,groove texture,and gradient groove texture,were developed on the guiding surface of thrust ball bearings in this study.The results show that gradient groove texture has the one-way self-driving function of liquid droplets.The root mean square(RMS)value of vibration acceleration of gradient groove textured bearing(GGB)decreased by 49.1% and the kurtosis decreased by 24.6% compared with non-textured bearing(NB)due to the directional spreading effect of gradient groove textures on oil.The frequency domain analysis showed that the textures mainly suppressed the medium and high-frequency energy of bearing vibration,and the GGB was reduced the most with 65.3% and 48%,respectively.In addition,whether the grease is sufficiently sheared has a large impact on the oil guiding effect,and the friction torque of GGB could decrease by 10.5% compared with NB in the sufficiently sheared condition.Therefore,the gradient groove texture with oil self-driven effect on the guiding surface of rolling bearing can effectively improve the lubrication condition of the bearing and thus reduce the bearing vibration and friction torque,which has a promising application prospect.展开更多
The impact of forest microhabitats on physiochemical properties of the soil and that of microbial communities on tropical soils remain poorly understood.To elucidate the effect of tropical forest stand on leaf litter ...The impact of forest microhabitats on physiochemical properties of the soil and that of microbial communities on tropical soils remain poorly understood.To elucidate the effect of tropical forest stand on leaf litter and soil microbial communities,we studied enzyme activities,microbial biomass,and diversity in three distinct microhabitats in terms of plant richness,diameter at breast height(DBH),and physiochemical properties of soil and litter,each associated with a different Vanilla sp.In the soil,positive correlations were found between electrical conductivity(EC)and total organic carbon(TOC)with phosphatase activity,and between nitrogen(N)and water-soluble carbon(WSC)content with urease activity(UA).In the litter,the water content was positively correlated with bacterial and fungal biomass,and N and WSC contents were positively correlated with fungal biomass.Positive correlations were found between plant richness and UA in the soil,plant richness and fungal biomass in the soil and litter,and DBH and fungal biomass in the litter.Amplicon sequencing revealed differences between microhabitats in the relative abundance of some fungal and bacterial taxa and in the bacterial community composition of both litter and soil.Bacterial richness and diversity were different between microhabitats,and,in litter samples,they were negatively correlated with DBH and plant richness,respectively.By contrast,none of the soil and litter physiochemical properties were significantly correlated with microbial diversity.Our results show that significant shifts in enzyme activity,microbial biomass,and diversity in the microhabitats were driven by key abiotic and biotic factors depending on the soil or litter sample type.展开更多
