However, the causal dynamics between MDD and dyslipidaemia remain elusive.Aims To comprehensively disentangle the genetic causality between MDD and various phenotypes of blood lipids, thereby facilitating the advancement of management strategies for these conditions. Methods We conducted a two-sample univariable Mendelian randomisation (MR) analysis using different models, including the inverse variance weighted (IVW) method and causal analysis using the summary effect (CAUSE) estimates, as well as a multivariable MR analysis. This analysis used summary statistics from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of MDD and five lipid traits: low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol and triglycerides (TG), encompassing 5 237 893 individuals of European and East Asian ancestries. For MDD, a total of 598 701 individuals were included, with 500 199 individuals of European ancestry (Ncase=170 756, Ncontrol=329 443) and 98 502 of East Asian ancestry (Ncase=12 588, Ncontrol=85 914). Lipid data were collected from 4 639 192 individuals through the Global Lipids Genetics Consortium (European, N=4 096 085;East Asian, N=543 107). Next, we used the two-step MR to explore the mediating factors between MDD and TG, and the risk factors affecting TG through MDD. Finally, we conducted a GWAS meta-analysis and enrichment analysis. Results In univariable MR, we observed a negative causal effect of low-density lipoprotein on MDD in both European populations (IVW: odds ratio (OR): 0.972, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.947 to 0.998, p=0.037) and East Asian populations (IVW: OR: 0.928, 95% CI 0.864 to 0.997, p=0.042). Additionally, we identified a bidirectional causal relationship between TG and MDD, with TG having a causal effect on MDD (IVW: OR: 1.052, 95% CI 1.020 to 1.085, p=0.001) and MDD having a causal effect on TG (IVW: OR: 1.075, 95% CI 1.047 to 1.104, p<0.001). Multivariable MR analysis further supported the role of TG in MDD (OR: 1.205, 95% CI 1.034 to 1.405, p=0.017). CAUSE estimates indicated that the causal model of MDD on TG provided a better fit than the sharing model (p=0.003), while the association of TG on MDD was more likely due to horizontal correlated pleiotropy than causality. Mediation analyses revealed that waist-hip ratio (WHR) mediated 69% of the total causal effect of MDD on TG, while other identified risk factors exhibited lower mediating proportions either mediated through MDD (≤17%) or originating from MDD (≤29%). The GWAS meta-analysis highlighted potential pathways related to lipid processes and nucleosome assembling, with significant cell types identified in brain regions and liver tissues. Conclusions The findings indicate that genetic proxies of MDD are associated with elevated levels of TG, with WHR serving as a clinical indicator of the association. This suggests that interventions targeting WHR may be effective in reducing TG levels in patients with MDD.展开更多

We presumed that this therapy would be effective for dysphagia after bulbar paralysis in patients with brainstem infarction. Sixty-four patients with dysphagia following brainstem infarction were recruited and divided into a medulla oblongata infarction group(n = 22), a midbrain and pons infarction group(n = 16), and a multiple cerebral infarction group(n = 26) according to their magnetic resonance imaging results. All patients received Tongguan Liqiao acupuncture for 28 days. The main acupoints were Neiguan(PC6), Renzhong(DU26), Sanyinjiao(SP6), Fengchi(GB20), Wangu(GB12), and Yifeng(SJ17). Furthermore, the posterior pharyngeal wall was pricked. Before and after treatment, patient swallowing functions were evaluated with the Kubota Water Test, Fujishima Ichiro Rating Scale, and the Standard Swallowing Assessment. The Barthel Index was also used to evaluate their quality of life. Results showed that after 28 days of treatment, scores on the Kubota Water Test and Standard Swallowing Assessment had decreased, but scores on the Fujishima Ichiro Rating Scale and Barthel Index had increased in each group. The total efficacy rate was 92.2% after treatment, and was most obvious in patients with medulla oblongata infarction(95.9%). These findings suggest that Tongguan Liqiao acupuncture therapy can repair the connection of upper motor neurons to the medulla oblongata motor nucleus, promote the recovery of brainstem infarction, and improve patient's swallowing ability and quality of life.展开更多

Materials and Methods: This study included 37 nonsyndromic isolated cleft palate and 39 age and gender matched non-clefts. Twenty-six cephalometric measurements were employed to evaluate the facial morphology. Independent samples T test and Mann- Whitney U were used for comparison. Significant difference was defined at 95% level. Results: Data from this study showed patients with unoperated isolated cleft palate have a reduced maxillary sagittal length (ANS-PMP, A-PMP, P〈0.05), a smaller ANB angle (ANB, P〈0.05) and a retrusive ANS point (S-N-ANS, P〈0.05; Ba-N-ANS, P〈0.05). Measurements descripted position of maxilla (S-Ptm, P〉0.05), depth of bony pharynx (Ba-PMP, P〉0.05), anterior and posterior maxillary height (N-ANS, P〉0.05; R-PMP, P〉0.05) and mandible morphology (including linear measurements and angle measurements) did not show any significant difference between case and control groups. Conclusions: Patients with isolated cleft palate were characterized by maxillary retrusion. Mandible morphology and cranial basal morphology in isolated cleft palate showed no significant difference with nonclefts. Patients with isolated cleft palate are more vulnerable to cross bite than nonclefts. Intrinsic deficiencies did detrimental effect on maxilla sagittal length, but did no detrimental effect on maxilla position, mandible size and position.展开更多

METHODS: Freshly collected hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tumor tissues were incubated with a mixture of neuraminidase and recombinant αl,3-galactosyltrans- ferase (αI,3GT) to synthesize α-Gal epitopes on car- bohydrate chains of the glycoproteins of tumor mem- branes. The subsequent incubation of the processed membranes in the presence of human natural anti-Gal IgG resulted in the effective phagocytosis to the tumor membrane by DCs. Eighteen patients aged 38-78 years with stage 111 primary HCC were randomly chosen for the study; 9 patients served as controls, and 9 patients were enrolled in the study group.RESULTS: The evaluation demonstrated that the pro- cedure was safe; no serious side effects or autoimmune diseases were observed. The therapy significantly pro- longed the survival of treated patients as compared with the controls (17.1 ± 2.01 mo vs 10.1 ±4.5 mo, P = 0.00121). After treatment, all patients in the study group had positive delayed hypersensitivity and robust systemic cytotoxicity in response to tumor lysate as measured by interferon-y-expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells using enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot assay. They also displayed increased numbers of CD8-, CD45RO- and CD56-positive cells in the peripheral blood and decreased α-fetoprotein level in the se- rum. CONCLUSION: This new tumor-specific immunotherapy is safe, effective and has a great potential for the treat- ment of tumors.展开更多

METHODS: Randomized 70 Sprague-Dawley rats into sham(n = 10) and operation(n = 60) groups, then established the HF rat by ligating the left anterior descending branch of the coronary artery. We randomly divided the operation group rats into the model, ONSMP [including low(L), medium(M), and high(H) dose], and enalapril groups. After the 4-week drug intervention, echocardiography examines the cardiac function and calculates the ratios of the whole/left heart to the rat's body weight. Finally, we observed the degree of myocardial fibrosis by pathological sections, determined myocardium collagen(COL) Ⅰ and COL Ⅲ content by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, detected the m RNA levels of COL Ⅰ, COL Ⅲ, α-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA), and c-Fos proto-oncogene(c-Fos) by universal real-time, and detected the protein expression of p-RAS, p-RAF, p-MEK1/2, p-ERK1/2, p-ETS-like-1 transcription factor(p-ELK1), p-c-Fos, α-SMA, COL Ⅰ, and COL Ⅲ by Western blot. RESULTS: ONSMP can effectively improve HF rat's cardiac function, decrease cardiac organ coefficient, COL volume fraction, and COL Ⅰ/Ⅲ content, down-regulate the m RNA of COL Ⅰ/Ⅲ, α-SMA and c-Fos, and the protein of p-RAS, p-RAF, p-MEK1/2, p-ERK1/2, p-ELK1, c-Fos, COL Ⅰ/Ⅲ, and α-SMA. CONCLUSIONS: ONSMP can effectively reduce myocardial fibrosis in HF rats, and the mechanism may be related to the inhibition of the RAS/RAF/MEK/ERK signaling pathway.展开更多

For patients of acupuncture group, Neiguan (PC 6), Ximen (PC 4), Tanzhong (CV 17), Xinshu (BL 15), Jueyinshu (BL 14) and Geshu (BL 17) were punctured, twice daily, with 30 days being a therapeutic course. In medication group, patients were asked to take Capoten 25 mg (t.i.d.). The left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and its fractional shortening (FS) of the minor axis were used as the indexes for assessing the therapeutic effect and detected by using a color ultrasonic Doppler apparatus. Results: After one course of treatment, of the each 30 cases of acupuncture and medication groups, 13 (43.3%) and 16 (53.3%) had marked improvement, 16 (53.3%) and 14 (46.7%) had improvement, and 1 (3.3%) and 0 had no any effect respectively. No significant difference was found between two groups in the therapeutic effect. It shows acupuncture therapy can improve myocardial contraction function. Conclusion: Acupuncture has a similar effect in enhancing the systolic function of the myocardium.展开更多

The infection in human is rare worldwide, but prevalence in some areas in Inner Mongolia, China reaches 70%-90%. Hemoplasmas have been implicated but not proven to be involved in the formation of atherosclerosis. To determine whether there is a causal relationship, the effect of hemoplasmas infection on the development of atherosclerosis was assessed in the low density lipoprotein receptor knockout ldlr-/- mouse. Methods The 4- week-old ldlr-/- mice were inoculated with human hemoplasmas. Atherosclerotic lesions were measured with perfusion staining and aortic root sectioning. The levels of complements were quantified using ELISA. Results Atheroma formation was accelerated over a 26-week period in the infected ldlr-/- mice compared with the uninfected ldlr-/- control mice. The acceleration of atherosclerosis was slowed down by tetracycline administration. Histological analysis of the atheromatous plaques showed larger and thicker lesions in infected mice than in control mice. Membrane attack complex (MAC), C5b-9, was present in the aortas of the infected mice, which suggests that the pathogen may activate complements and cause inflammation on endothelium, thus accelerate the development of atherosclerosis. Conclusions These data demonstrate that the zoonosis, hemoplasma infection, can accelerate atherosclerotic lesion formation in the ldlr-/- mice. The study provides the first report of a murine model for studying the causative role of hemoplasmas infection in the development of atherosclerosis.展开更多

A large number of existing and newly published studies have demonstrated the analgesic effect of electroacupuncture(EA) in complete Freund's adjuvant(CFA) rat model, necessitating a new and comprehensive review. To evaluate the curative effect of EA on thermal hyperalgesia in CFA rats, and to explore parameters that influence treatment effects, studies of EA treatment on thermal hyperalgesia of CFA rat model were identified from nine databases up to June 17, 2017. Outcome measure was heat pain threshold. All the data were analyzed using Stata 14.0/MP software. 26 studies identified included 801 rats. The quality score of the studies ranged from 3 to 6, with a mean of 4.08. The effect of EA group was improvement in outcome compared with CFA group. In subgroup analyses, frequency 2, 100, 2/100 or 20-100 Hz. acupoint Huántiào(环跳GB30),Kūnlún(昆仑 BL60) +Xuánzhōng(悬钟 GB39), Zúsānlī(足三里 ST36) +BL60 or ST36+Sānyīnjiāo(三阴交SP6), retention time 20 or 30 min, treatment time for post-CFA injection immediately, the same day as CFA injection, post-CFA injection 24 or 48 h and interval 24 or 48 h all can improve the effect on CFA rat heat pain threshold. These results show that there is positive effective of EA in CFA-induced pain, different parameters have different effects on EA treatment of CFA heat hyperalgesia, however, because of the number of eligible researches and the high risk of bias, the evidence supporting this conclusion is limited.展开更多

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is a complex disease and one of the most frequent arrhythmias, especially in elderly patients. Multiple mechanisms are involved including interaction between the autonomic nervous system (ANS), electrophysiological properties of the atria, and vulnerability for AF. Cardiac overload increases the incidence of AF. In lone AF the triggers are in the pulmonary veins. AF caused by underlying disease has different mechanism. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with activity of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). Reduction in renal nor-adrenaline spillover could be achieved after renal sympathetic denervation (RSD). Methods: 1) Establish of atrial fibrillation model;2) Ventricular rate analysis of AF;3) Statistical analysis. Results: 1) The establishment of atrial fibrillation model;2) Inducibility and duration of AF;3) The changes of AERP dispersion. Conclusion: Left RSN-S shortened left atrial ERP, increased ERP dispersion, but did not change right atrial ERP. Bilateral RSN-A produced significant prolongation in both atrial ERP, but did not affect ERP dispersion. The on time of RD effect is at 4 hrs after RD procedure and the RD effect on AF will last for 20 hrs after RD procedure.展开更多

Method The entire aortas from C57BL/6, ldlr-/- and apoE-/- mice were stained with Sudan IV using either in vivo perfusion or traditional in vitro enface staining techniques. Histological sections of aortic root and hearts were embedded in tissue freezing medium and cut with a cryostat, then stained with Oil Red O. The calculated aortic root area based on the aortic root circumference was used to reduce measurement errors. Results The in vitro en face staining can stain all fat, which include the adventitial tissue around aorta. However the in vivo perfusion staining can specifically stain the fatty deposition inside of aorta. Both entire aorta and aortic root section staining showed that there was a highly significant increase in fatty deposition in the aortas of the genetic modified mice. Although all mice genetic background was same, the apoE-/- mice had larger atherosclerotic lesions than ldlr-/- mice. Conclusions The new in vivo peffusion method is more accurate than the in vitro en face method. The combination of these macro and microscopic techniques overcomes the shortcomings of the earlier published methods which are generally limited to the measurement of fatty red staining areas only, neglecting non-specific adventitial fat staining around aorta and aortic root section tissue distortion.展开更多

文摘Oxidative stress and inflammation are closely interrelated processes that are pivotal to the impaired wound healing associated with diabetes.Chronic hyperglycemia in diabetic patients induces excessive reactive oxygen species(ROS)production, which triggers heightened inflammatory responses. The resulting inflammation exacerbates oxidative damage, delays wound closure, and intensifies tissue injury, thereby creating a detrimental cycle that disrupts normal wound healing.Recent research has increasingly focused on the therapeutic potential of natural products in modulating oxidative stress and inflammation to enhance diabetic wound healing.Natural compounds, such as polyphenols, flavonoids, and terpenoids, have demonstrated significant efficacy in reducing oxidative damage and modulating inflammatory pathways. These bioactive agents exhibit potent antioxidant activity by scavenging ROS and enhancing endogenous antioxidant defenses while concurrently inhibiting the release of proinflammatory cytokines.Additionally, natural therapies have been shown to promote angiogenesis, enhance collagen synthesis, and improve fibroblast function, further facilitating wound repair. This review provides insights into the complex interplay between oxidative stress and inflammation in diabetic wound healing and evaluates the therapeutic potential of natural products as adjunctive treatments.Further clinical investigations are essential to validate the efficacy and safety of these natural interventions for diabetic wound management.

文摘Background Numerous studies have consistently demonstrated that a considerable proportion of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) frequently exhibit pronounced dyslipidaemia. This suggests that interventions targeting WHR may be effective in reducing TG levels in patients with MDD.

文摘Tongguan Liqiao acupuncture therapy has been shown to effectively treat dysphagia after stroke-based pseudobulbar paralysis. These findings suggest that Tongguan Liqiao acupuncture therapy can repair the connection of upper motor neurons to the medulla oblongata motor nucleus, promote the recovery of brainstem infarction, and improve patient's swallowing ability and quality of life.
文摘Objective: To address the effect of intrinsic factors on craniofacial growth by analyzing the craniofacial morphology of unoperated isolated cleft palate in Chinese adult. Intrinsic deficiencies did detrimental effect on maxilla sagittal length, but did no detrimental effect on maxilla position, mandible size and position.

文摘AIM: To evaluate the safety and clinical efficacy of a new immunotherapy using both α-Gal epitope-pulsed dendritic cells (DCs) and cytokine-induced killer cells. CONCLUSION: This new tumor-specific immunotherapy is safe, effective and has a great potential for the treat- ment of tumors.

文摘OBJECTIVE: Exploring the effect of Optimized New Shengmai powder(优化新生脉散方, ONSMP) on myocardial fibrosis in heart failure(HF) based on rat sarcoma(RAS)/rapidly accelerated fibrosarcoma(RAF)/mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase(MEK)/extracellular regulated protein kinases(ERK) signaling pathway. CONCLUSIONS: ONSMP can effectively reduce myocardial fibrosis in HF rats, and the mechanism may be related to the inhibition of the RAS/RAF/MEK/ERK signaling pathway.
文摘Objective: To observe the effect of acupuncture therapy on the function of myocardial contraction in symptomless cardiac failure patients. Methods: A total of 60 cases of symptomless cardiac insufficiency inpatients were randomly divided into medication and acupuncture groups, with 30 cases in each group. Conclusion: Acupuncture has a similar effect in enhancing the systolic function of the myocardium.
文摘Because their endocrine system is not yet developmentally mature, adolescent girls are prone to dysfunctional uterine bleeding caused by insufficiency of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. The view of modern medicine is mainly aimed at the secretory function of sex hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone. However,it causes distress to patients because of the susceptibility of their treatment to endocrine system disorders.Traditional Chinese medicine considers the damage to the function of the Conception Vessel and Thoroughfare Vessel as the key to the disease. In this way,we guide the use of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture and achieve good results. The pathogenesis and management of functional uterine bleeding in adolescence are discussed from two medical perspectives in this article.

文摘Hemotrophic mycoplasmas (hemoplasmas) infection is an uncommon zoonosis. The study provides the first report of a murine model for studying the causative role of hemoplasmas infection in the development of atherosclerosis.

文摘Pain is a global problem and has been found sensitive to acupuncture. These results show that there is positive effective of EA in CFA-induced pain, different parameters have different effects on EA treatment of CFA heat hyperalgesia, however, because of the number of eligible researches and the high risk of bias, the evidence supporting this conclusion is limited.
文摘Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of renal sympathetic nerve stimulation (RSN-S) and ablation (RSN-A) on atrial effective refractory period (ERP) and AF in normal canine heart. The on time of RD effect is at 4 hrs after RD procedure and the RD effect on AF will last for 20 hrs after RD procedure.
文摘Objective:To investigate the expression of serum thymidine kinase 1(TK1)in malignant tumors and its relationship with common tumor markers.Methods:195 cancer patients in the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of traditional Chinese medicine were selected as the subjects. The serum TK1 concentration was measured by enzyme-linked immune-electrotransfer blot and the correlation between TK1 concentration and some biological parameters of tumor patients were analyzed retrospectively. Results:The positive rate of serum TK1 in patients with tumor stage IV was higher than that in other stages(29.9%>16.4%,P=0.029<0.05).The positive rate of serum TK1 in patients with carbohydrate antigen 199(CA199)positive was higher than the negative(43.5%>19.6%,P=0.036<0.05).There was a positive correlation between serum TK1 and CA199(r=0.244,P=0.043<0.05).Conclusion:The expression of TK1 in serum is related to the proliferation of tumor cells. It is consistent with the concentration of CA199,which can be used as a combined choice for the study of digestive tract tumors, especially pancreatic cancer markers.

文摘Objectives To develop a simple, accurate and reproducible method, which combines macro and histopathological techniques for determining the degree of lipid deposition in genetically modified mice. The combination of these macro and microscopic techniques overcomes the shortcomings of the earlier published methods which are generally limited to the measurement of fatty red staining areas only, neglecting non-specific adventitial fat staining around aorta and aortic root section tissue distortion.
