Construction of MMC-CLCC Hybrid DC Transmission System and Its Power Flow Reversal Control Strategy

To enhance power flow regulation in scenarios involving large-scale renewable energy transmission via high-voltage direct current(HVDC)links and multi-infeed DC systems in load-center regions,this paper proposes a hybrid modular multilevel converter–capacitor-commutated line-commutated converter(MMC-CLCC)HVDC transmission system and its corresponding control strategy.First,the system topology is constructed,and a submodule configuration method for the MMC—combining full-bridge submodules(FBSMs)and half-bridge submodules(HBSMs)—is proposed to enable direct power flow reversal.Second,a hierarchical control strategy is introduced,includingMMCvoltage control,CLCC current control,and a coordinationmechanism,along with the derivation of the hybrid system’s power flow reversal characteristics.Third,leveraging the CLCC’s fast current regulation and theMMC’s negative voltage control capability,a coordinated power flow reversal control strategy is developed.Finally,an 800 kV MMC-CLCC hybrid HVDC system is modeled in PSCAD/EMTDC to validate the power flow reversal performance under a high proportion of full-bridge submodule configuration.Results demonstrate that the proposed control strategy enables rapid(1-s transition)and smooth switching of bidirectional power flow without modifying the structure of primary equipment:the transient fluctuation ofDC voltage from the rated value(UdcN)to themaximumreverse voltage(-kUdcN)is less than 5%;the DC current strictly follows the preset characteristic curve with a deviation of≤3%;the active power reverses continuously,and the system maintains stable operation throughout the reversal process. 展开更多

Online Public Opinion Reports consolidate news and social media for timely crisis management by governments and enterprises.While large language models(LLMs)enable automated report generation,this specific domain lacks formal task definitions and corresponding benchmarks.To bridge this gap,we define the Automated Online Public Opinion Report Generation(OPOR-Gen)task and construct OPOR-Bench,an event-centric dataset with 463 crisis events across 108 countries(comprising 8.8 K news articles and 185 K tweets).To evaluate report quality,we propose OPOR-Eval,a novel agent-based framework that simulates human expert evaluation.Validation experiments show OPOR-Eval achieves a high Spearman’s correlation(ρ=0.70)with human judgments,though challenges in temporal reasoning persist.This work establishes an initial foundation for advancing automated public opinion reporting research. 展开更多

Aiming at integrally improving the solidification,homogenization,and hot deformation structures of super austenitic stainless steel,a strategy of feeding the Ce-bearing steel strip into S32654 was proposed in this study.The results revealed that this strategy played three main roles in improving the solidification structure:(i)causing rapid supercooling of the molten steel,(ii)promoting dendrite nucleation through the generation of numerous floating dendrites and Ce-bearing inclusions,and(iii)enhancing compositional supercooling by[Ce].These three roles synergistically refined the solidification structure,reduced Mo segregation,and inhibitedσphase precipitation.During the high-temperature homogenization process,this strategy markedly accelerated the dissolution of theσphase and the uniform distribution of Mo by refining theσphase and reducing the width of the Mo segregation region,thereby significantly shortening the homogenization time.During the hot deformation process,this strategy not only considerably enhanced the degree of dynamic recrystallization(DRX)by promoting discontinuous and continuous DRX but also markedly reduced the strain-induced precipitation tendency of theσphase due to a more uniform distribution of Mo after homogenization.Both benefits jointly improved the hot deformation microstructure without increasing hot-working difficulty. 展开更多

Floating photovoltaic(FPV)technology is emerging as a highly promising approach to accelerate decarbonization of the global economy,due to its higher power generation efficiency and lower land occupation.With the rapid development of FPV technology,the mechanical performance degradation of key components caused by the harsh marine environment has become a pressing issue,as it significantly contributes to failure behavior observed in FPV systems.A comprehensive compilation of the mechanical performance of key components in FPV systems is also currently unavailable.Here,the mechanical behavior of each structural component in FPV systems under harsh marine environments is systematically reviewed.It further emphasizes the synergistic effects of mechanical performance degradation among different components on the overall system.The drop-off rate(v)of normalized elongation at break(EAB)of polymer under the synergistic effect of various environmental factors increases from 7.5×10^(−4)h^(−1)to 21.8×10^(−4)h^(−1)compared with the single environmental stress.Moreover,the development of novel materials and innovative mechanical structures applied in FPV systems to enhance mechanical performance is discussed.The novel flexible PV modules applied in FPV systems minimize the loads acting on the mooring lines by 80%and increase power generation by 5%.Notably,this paper provides a theoretical foundation for developing standards of FPV systems,especially the establishment of standards related to the synergistic effects of the mechanical performance degradation of different key components on FPV systems. 展开更多

To fully exploit the rich characteristic variation laws of an integrated energy system(IES)and further improve the short-term load-forecasting accuracy,a load-forecasting method is proposed for an IES based on LSTM and dynamic similar days with multi-features.Feature expansion was performed to construct a comprehensive load day covering the load and meteorological information with coarse and fine time granularity,far and near time periods.The Gaussian mixture model(GMM)was used to divide the scene of the comprehensive load day,and gray correlation analysis was used to match the scene with the coarse time granularity characteristics of the day to be forecasted.Five typical days with the highest correlation with the day to be predicted in the scene were selected to construct a“dynamic similar day”by weighting.The key features of adjacent days and dynamic similar days were used to forecast multi-loads with fine time granularity using LSTM.Comparing the static features as input and the selection method of similar days based on non-extended single features,the effectiveness of the proposed prediction method was verified. 展开更多

Carrying out green energy transformation,implementing clean energy power replacement and supply,and developing a new power system are some primary driving forces needed to fulfill China’s carbon-peak and carbon-neutral strategic goals.The construction of new power systems in China’s provinces and cities is developing rapidly,and the lack of a typical model promotes the application.The new power system path design should be based on the actual development of the power grid in different regions,energy use characteristics,and other actual needs to carry out the differentiated path design.In this context,this study analyzes the characteristics of the new domestic power system based on the policy background of the new domestic power system,constructs a new model for power system development stage identification,and proposes the overall design of the new power system development path from the power supply,transmission and distribution,and load sides.It also uses the Hebei South Network as an example to explore the development stage of the Hebei South Grid based on actual development needs.Finally,this study designs a novel power system development path for the entire supply and demand chain for the Hebei South Grid to propose ideas for constructing a new power system in China and to help green energy transformation. 展开更多

With the increasing of extreme rainfall frequency, landslides accompanied by mudslides often lead to serious casualties and property damage. On 3rd July 2021, a debris flow occurred in Izu Mountain area, Shizuoka County, Japan, and then resulted in 26 deaths and 131 houses destroyed, where houses were mainly built along the banks of the creek. In order to analyse the landslide state and distribution, a two-dimensional debris flow dynamic model(Massflow) was selected to simulate the process of the landslide-generated debris flow. When the model results are considered together with remote sensing images, the volume distribution of the unstable landslide is also able to be determined. The results show that(1) the affected areas are mainly concentrated at the outfall of the gully and on both sides of the streets.(2) The pore pressure ratio is an important factor affecting the damage range of this debris flow.(3) The increase of the pore pressure ratio in the landslide make the movement distance of debris flow increase significantly. 展开更多

As the intermittency and uncertainty of photovoltaic(PV)power generation poses considerable challenges to the power system operation,accurate PV generation estimates are critical for the distribution operation,maintenance,and demand response program implementation because of the increasing usage of distributed PVs.Currently,most residential PVs are installed behind the meter,with only the net load available to the utilities.Therefore,a method for disaggregating the residential PV generation from the net load data is needed to enhance the grid-edge observability.In this study,an unsupervised PV capacity estimation method based on net metering data is proposed,for estimating the PV capacity in the customer’s premise based on the distribution characteristics of nocturnal and diurnal net load extremes.Then,the PV generation disaggregation method is presented.Based on the analysis of the correlation between the nocturnal and diurnal actual loads and the correlation between the PV capacity and their actual PV generation,the PV generation of customers is estimated by applying linear fitting of multiple typical solar exemplars and then disaggregating them into hourly-resolution power profiles.Finally,the anomalies of disaggregated PV power are calibrated and corrected using the estimated capacity.Experiment results on a real-world hourly dataset involving 260 customers show that the proposed PV capacity estimation method achieves good accuracy because of the advantages of robustness and low complexity.Compared with the state-of-the-art PV disaggregation algorithm,the proposed method exhibits a reduction of over 15%for the mean absolute percentage error and over 20%for the root mean square error. 展开更多

The distribution regularity and personnel injury from the muzzle blast-wave were investigated by both test and numerical simulation. Through the inside firing test, the changes of overpressure and noise have been measured at different measuring points in the thin-wall cover structure with different open widths and shallow covering thickness. The distribution regularity of muzzle shock-wave with different firing port widths is calculated by ANSYS/LSDYNA software. The overpressure distribution curves of muzzle shock-wave inside the structure can be obtained by comparing the test results with the numerical results. Then, the influence of open width and shallow covering thickness is proposed to give a reference to the protective design under the condition of the inside firing with the same cannon caliber. 展开更多

Diamond particle dispersed copper (Cu) matrix composites were fabricated from the powder mixture composed of diamond, pure-Cu and boron (B) by spark plasma sintering (SPS). The composites were consolidated at 1173 K for 600 s by SPS. The reaction between the diamond particle and the Cu matrix in the composite was not confirmed by SEM observation and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The relative packing density of the Cu/diamond composites increased with B addition and attained 93.2% - 95.8% at the B content range between 1.8 vol.% and 13.8 vol.%. The thermal conductivity of the diamond-dispersed Cu composite drastically increased with B addition and reached the maximum value of 689 W/mK at 7.2 vol% B. Numerous transgranular fractures of diamond particles were observed on bending fracture surfaces of Cu-B/diamond composites. This indicates strong bonding between the diamond particle and the Cu matrix in the composite. The coefficient of thermal expansion of the composite falls in the upper line of Kerner’s model. 展开更多

This paper addresses the problem of complex and challenging disturbance localization in the current power system operation environment by proposing a disturbance localization method for power systems based on group sparse representation and entropy weight method.Three different electrical quantities are selected as observations in the compressed sensing algorithm.The entropy weighting method is employed to calculate the weights of different observations based on their relative disturbance levels.Subsequently,by leveraging the topological information of the power system and pre-designing an overcomplete dictionary of disturbances based on the corresponding system parameter variations caused by disturbances,an improved Joint Generalized Orthogonal Matching Pursuit(J-GOMP)algorithm is utilized for reconstruction.The reconstructed sparse vectors are divided into three parts.If at least two parts have consistent node identifiers,the node is identified as the disturbance node.If the node identifiers in all three parts are inconsistent,further analysis is conducted considering the weights to determine the disturbance node.Simulation results based on the IEEE 39-bus system model demonstrate that the proposed method,utilizing electrical quantity information from only 8 measurement points,effectively locates disturbance positions and is applicable to various disturbance types with strong noise resistance. 展开更多

As an essential infrastructure,the rural power grid is vital in promoting agricultural and rural carbon sequestration and improving rural energy electrification.It is necessary to carry out in-depth research on its comprehensive efficiency.Based on the requirements of“double carbon”and rural revitalization strategy for the rural Power Grid,this paper focuses on the modernization and low-carbon transformation of the rural Power Grid.It constructs an input-output index system for the investment efficiency of the rural Power Grid in China under the new situation.It uses the primary data of the rural Power Grid of 30 prefecture-level cities in China from 2019 to 2021 to evaluate the investment efficiency of the rural Power Grid in China through a three-stage DEA model.The empirical results show that:considering the regional differences,the comprehensive efficiency of the rural Power Grid in backward areas is significantly improved;that is,the three-stage DEA method can more objectively evaluate the comprehensive efficiency of the rural Power Grid.In the context of the continued promotion of the rural revitalization strategy,to improve the comprehensive efficiency of the rural Power Grid,it is necessary to improve the technical level of the rural Power Grid further and appropriately expand the scale of investment in the rural Power Grid. 展开更多

Two different kinds of experimental techniques were used to in-situ study the austenite formation during intercritical annealing in C-Mn dual phase steel. The microstructure evolution was observed by confocal laser scanning microscope, and the austenite isothermal and non-isothermal transformation kinetics were studied by dilatometry. The results indicate that banded structure is produced for the reason of composition segregation and the competition between recrystallization and phase transformation. Austenite prefers to nucleate not only at ferrite/ferrite grain boundaries, but also inside the grains of ferrite.Furthermore, the austenitizing process is accomplished mainly via migration of the existing austenite/ferrite interface rather than nucleation of new grains. The incubation process can be divided into two stages which are controlled by carbon and manganese diffusion, respectively. During the incubation process, the nucleation rate of austenite decreases, and austenite growth changes from two-dimensional to one-dimensional. The partitioning coefficient, defined as the ratio of manganese content in the austenite to that in the adjacent ferrite, increases with increasing soaking time. 展开更多

Complete prior statistical information is currently required in the majority of statistical evaluations of complex models. The principle of maximum entropy is often utilized in this context to fill in the missing pieces of available information and is normally claimed to be fair and objective. A rarely discussed aspect is that it relies upon testable information, which is never known but estimated, i.e. results from processing of raw data. The subjective choice of this processing strongly affects the result. Less conventional posterior completion of information is equally accurate but is computationally superior to prior, as much less information enters the analysis. Our recently proposed methods of lean deterministic sampling are examples of very few approaches that actively promote the use of minimal incomplete prior information. The inherited subjective character of maximum entropy distributions and the often critical implications of prior and posterior completion of information are here discussed and illustrated, from a novel perspective of consistency, rationality, computational efficiency and realism. 展开更多

Rice paddy-field microbial fuel cells (RPF-MFCs) are devices that exploit rhizosphere bacteria to generate electricity from soil organic matter, including those excreted from roots. Previous studies have examined factors affecting electric outputs from RPF-MFCs and demonstrated that RPFMFC was able to generate electricity up to 80 mW·m<sup>-2</sup> (based on the projected area of anode). The present study operated RPF-MFCs with different sizes of anodes and cathodes and examined how electrode sizes affected electricity generation. We show that anodes are the limiting factor for electricity generation immediately after commencing the operation, while cathodes become the limiting factor after anode performances are sufficiently increased. RPF-MFC achieved the maximum power density of 140 mW·m<sup>-2</sup> (based on the projected area of anode), when the cathode is sufficiently larger than the anode. Results suggest that the cathode needs to be improved for eliciting the maximum capacity of rhizosphere bacteria for electricity generation in RPF-MFC. 展开更多

Temporal variation in modal properties of a base-isolated building during an earthquake

Temporal variation of dynamical modal properties of a base-isolated building is investigated using earthquake records in the building. A batch processing least-squares estimation method is applied to segment-wise time-series data. To construct an input-output system,an auto-regressive model with exogenous input (ARX) of second-order including a forgetting coefficient as a weighting coefficient is used for the estimation of modal parameters. The fundamental and second natural frequencies and the damping ratios of the fundamental and second natural modes of the base-isolated building are identified in the time domain. The identified results are consistent with the results obtained from the micro-tremor vibration data,forced-vibration test data and earthquake records in the present base-isolated building in the case of taking into account the amplitude-dependency of the isolators and viscous dampers. It is finally pointed out that several factors,e.g.,amplitude dependency of the isolator and damper system and special characteristics of the series-type viscous damper system,may be related complicatedly with the temporal variation in modal properties of the above-mentioned system. 展开更多
