Science enables students to seek knowledge and practice relevant scientific processes to provide meaningful solutions or information that can contribute to the development of society. This study aimed to create a science learning activity for senior high school students that integrates learning skills in science such as information retrieval, scientific reading, data representation, scientific writing, and knowledge presentation. The subjects of this study, which was employed through purposive sampling, were Grade 12 STEM students and Science teachers from Batangas’2nd Congressional District-Area II.Documentary analysis was used to analyze the least mastered competencies in earth science, general biology, general chemistry, and general physics. An interview was also used to reinforce the data collection and analysis. The content’s relevancy influences the students’attitudes and interests, the teachers’teaching tactics, and the opportunity to learn collaboratively. The student’s learning skills in science were honed by the learning activities provided by their teacher. However, the students’data representation and knowledge presentation skills must be strengthened.Different pedagogical considerations may be emphasized in developing a learning activity to boost student engagement and achieve a better learning experience. 展开更多

Metaheuristic algorithms are one of the methods used to solve optimization problems and find global or close to optimal solutions at a reasonable computational cost.As with other types of algorithms,in metaheuristic algorithms, one of the methods used to improve performance and achieve results closer to the target result is the hybridization of algorithms. In this study,a hybrid algorithm(HSSJAYA)consisting of salp swarm algorithm(SSA)and jaya algorithm(JAYA)is designed. The speed of achieving the global optimum of SSA,its simplicity, easy hybridization and JAYA’s success in achieving the best solution have given us the idea of creating a powerful hybrid algorithm from these two algorithms. The hybrid algorithm is based on SSA’s leader and follower salp system and JAYA’s best and worst solution part.HSSJAYA works according to the best and worst food source positions. In this way,it is thought that the leader-follower salps will find the best solution to reach the food source. The hybrid algorithm has been tested in 14 unimodal and 21 multimodal benchmark functions. The results were compared with SSA,JAYA,cuckoo search algorithm(CS),firefly algorithm(FFA)and genetic algorithm(GA).As a result,a hybrid algorithm that provided results closer to the desired fitness value in benchmark functions was obtained. In addition, these results were statistically compared using wilcoxon rank sum test with other algorithms.According to the statistical results obtained from the results of the benchmark functions,it was determined that HSSJAYA creates a statistically significant difference in most of the problems compared to other algorithms. 展开更多

Aims: The paper explores the hypothesis that the speed of light c is decreasing over time at rate (dc/dt)=-H? c, H being the Hubble constant. This hypothesis differs from the so-called tired light, in which the velocity c is supposed to vary during the journey of photons in the empty space for some frictional mechanism. In the hypothesis of the author the speed c, during this journey, is assumed constant. In this way the problems of the tired hypothesis are overcome. Methods: The paper links the variation dc/dt with the Hubble constant and infers a value of dc/dt from the difference between the value of the variation of the Earth-Moon distance measured by the Lunar Laser Ranging Experiment and the tidal effect. Results: Under the hypothesis c time varying, we explain: 1) The cosmological redshift. 2) The anomalous acceleration ap ≈ -8 × 10-10 m?sec-2, measured for some spacecrafts. 3) The high redshift of supernovae Ia, which seems to evidence an acceleration of the expansion of the universe. 4) The peripheral motion of stars in galaxies around their rotational centre. 5) The dilation of the light curves observed for supernovae Ia. 展开更多

As is already known, most of the plasma literature is occupied with the plasma instabilities and the inevitable plasma waves, which remain major obstacles to the thermonuclear fusion process. Many experimental data on the plasma waves (growth or damping) and their accompanied theoretical interpretations have been published during the last five decades; lots of them have been identified and justified as well, some not yet. One of these is our previous research on plasma waves, which originated in the early 80's at the Plasma Physics Laboratory of the NCSR "Demokritos". As the wave rising is defined by the growth rate (or the damping on the extinguishment), these important wavy quantities will be studied in detail in the present paper. Three examples are taken from our previous theoretical results, and the first observation reveals that the involved quantities are complicated enough to be studied by themselves. So, the use of suitable approach models, which may interpret the experimental wavy quantities, is the central idea of the present attempt, Furthermore, calculations with a little change of the initial conditions have been repeated in order to determine whether the plasma behaves as a chaotic medium. 展开更多

Aphasia is a higher brain dysfunction that affects the production or comprehension of speech and the ability to read or write. The purpose of this research is to establish support guidelines based on a questionnaire survey and a language activity analysis of rehabilitation training so that volunteers can more easily assist disabled persons with aphasia. The focus of this study was the non-profit community-based intervention group Yokohama Aphasia Partner Group, which consists of members with aphasia, their families, speech-language-and-hearing therapists, psychiatric social workers, and volunteers. The following results were obtained. (1) Members with aphasia participate in the Partner Group because they can meet others with aphasia on a regular basis as well as participate in the aphasia rehabilitation program with the recovery of language functions. In addition to medical treatment, the community-based support, which improves the environment and other life contextual factors, is important for rehabilitation. (2) An individual with aphasia shows different language actions, and so an individually different support system in accordance with language activity is necessary. 展开更多

In a previous article entitled: “Evidences for varying speed of light with time” [1], a series of observational evidence was presented in favor of the hypothesis that the speed of light varies with time according to the relationship dc/dt = -Hc, where H is the Hubble constant which is considered a universal constant. In this paper we propose to elaborate on the observational evidence supporting the hypothesis, and to probe the consequences of this relationship on General Relativity. Also we will provide a theoretical justification of the previous relationship and we will show how from it we can deduce galactic velocity curves. We can deduce the important empirical Tully-Fisher relation linking these curves to the baryonic mass of the galaxy and we can justify the apparent accelerated expansion of the universe without intervening elusive entities such as dark matter and dark energy. 展开更多
