Based on the Petri net models of the systems, this paper proposes, for the first time, the concept of perfect maximal resourcetransition circuits and their saturated states. The concept facilitates the development of system liveness characterization and deadlock avoidance Petri net supervisors. Deadlock is characterized as some perfect maximal resource-transition circuits reaching their saturated states. For a large class of manufacturing systems, which do not contain center resources, the optimal deadlock avoidance Petri net supervisors are presented. For a general manufacturing system, a method is proposed for reducing the system Petri net model so that the reduced model does not contain center resources and, hence, has optimal deadlock avoidance Petri net supervisor. The controlled reduced Petri net model can then be used as the liveness supervisor of the system.展开更多

A quantitative phase field model is used to investigate the microstructure evolution of fusedcoating additive manufacturing, by which to improve the quality of deposition. During the fused-coating process, the molten metal in a crucible flows out of a nozzle and then reaches the substrate. The solidification happens at the moment when the molten metal comes into contact with substrate moving in three-dimensional space. The macroscopic heat transfer model of fused-coating is established to get the temperature field considered as the initial temperature boundary conditions in the phase field model. The numerical and experimental results show that the morphology of grains varies with different solidification environments. Columnar grains are observed during the early period at the bottom of fused-coating layer and the equiaxed grains appear subsequently ahead of the columnar grains. Columnar dendrites phase field simulations about the grains morphology and solute distribution are conducted considering the solidification environments. The simulation results are in good agreement with experimental results.展开更多

文摘Underwater transportation of bubbles and gases has essential applications in manipulating and using gas,but achieving this function at the microscopic level remains a significant challenge. Here,we report a strategy to self-transport gas in water along a laser-induced open superhydrophobic microchannel with a width less than 100μm.The femtosecond laser can directly write superhydrophobic and underwater superaerophilic microgrooves on the polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)surfaces. In water, the single laser-induced microgroove and water medium generate a hollow microchannel. When the microchannel connects two superhydrophobic regions in water, the gas spontaneously travels from the small region to the large area along this hollow microchannel.Gas self-transportation can be extended to laser-drilled microholes through a thin PTFE sheet, which can even achieve anti-buoyancy unidirectional penetration. The gas can overcome the bubble’s buoyance and spontaneously travel downward. The Laplace pressure difference drives the processes of spontaneous gas transportation and unidirectional bubble passage. We believe the property of gas self-transportation in the femtosecond laser-structured open superhydrophobic and underwater superaerophilic microgrooves/microholes has significant potential applications related to manipulating underwater gas.

文摘Chatter has been a primary obstacle to the successful implementation of high speed machining. The frequency response function(FRF) of the tool point is crucial for identification of chatter free cutting conditions. In order to quickly acquire the FRF of the different components combinations of machine tool, the assembly of machine tool was always decomposed into several parts, where the fluted portion of tool, however, was always treated as a uniform beam, and the associated discrepancy was ignored. This paper presents a new method to predict the dynamic response of the machine-spindle-holder-tool assembly using the receptance coupling substructure analysis technique, where the assembly is divided into three parts:machine-spindle,holder and tool shank, and tool's fluted portion.Impact testing is used to measure the receptance of machine-spindle,the Timoshenko beam model is employed to analyze the dynamics of holder and tool shank, and the finite element method(FEM) is used to calculate the receptance of the tool's fluted portion. The approximation of the fluted portion cross section using an equivalent diameter is also addressed. All the individual receptances are coupled by using substructure method. The predicted assembly receptance is experimentally verified for three different tool overhang lengths. The results also show that the equivalent diameter beam model reaches an acceptable accuracy. The proposed approach is helpful to predict the tool point dynamics rapidly in industry.

文摘This paper presents a dual-platform scanner for dental reconstruction based on a three-dimensional(3D)laser-scanning method. The scanner combines translation and rotation platforms to perform a holistic scanning.A hybrid calibration method for laser scanning is proposed to improve convenience and precision. This method includes an integrative method for data collection and a hybrid algorithm for data processing. The integrative method conveniently collects a substantial number of calibrating points with a stepped gauge and a pattern for both the translation and rotation scans. The hybrid algorithm, which consists of a basic model and a compensation network, achieves strong stability with a small degree of errors. The experiments verified the hybrid calibration method and the scanner application for the measurement of dental pieces. Two typical dental pieces were measured, and the experimental results demonstrated the validity of the measurement that was performed using the dual-platform scanner. This method is effective for the 3D reconstruction of dental pieces,as well as that of objects with irregular shapes in engineering fields.

文摘A new wavelet finite element method(WFEM)is constructed in this paper and two elements for bending and free vibration problems of a stiffened plate are analyzed.By means of generalized potential energy function and virtual work principle, the formulations of the bending and free vibration problems of the stiffened plate are derived separately. Then, the scaling functions of the B-spline wavelet on the interval(BSWI)are introduced to discrete the solving field variables instead of conventional polynomial interpolation. Finally, the corresponding two problems can be resolved following the traditional finite element frame. There are some advantages of the constructed elements in structural analysis.Due to the excellent features of the wavelet, such as multi-scale and localization characteristics, and the excellent numerical approximation property of the BSWI,the precise and efficient analysis can be achieved.Besides, transformation matrix is used to translate the meaningless wavelet coefficients into physical space, thus the resolving process is simplified. In order to verify the superiority of the constructed method in stiffened plate analysis, several numerical examples are given in the end.

文摘BACKGROUND Although endoscope-assisted magnetic compression anastomosis has already been reported for colonic anastomosis, there is no report on a single-approach operation using the natural orifice.AIM To design a deformable self-assembled magnetic anastomosis ring(DSAMAR)for colonic anastomosis for use in single-approach operation and evaluate its feasibility and safety through animal experiments.METHODS The animal model for colonic stenosis was prepared by partial colonic ligation in eight beagles. The magnetic compression anastomosis of their colonic stricture was performed by endoscopically assisted transanal implantation of the DSAMAR.The anastomotic specimen, obtained 2 wk after the operation, was observed by both the naked eye and a light microscope.RESULTS The DSAMAR was successfully inserted into the proximal end of colon stenosis through the anus. The DSAMAR of seven dogs was successfully transformed into rings, while that of the remaining dog was removed after the first deformation failed. The rings were successfully retransformed after optimization. All animals underwent colonic anastomosis using the DSAMAR.No device-related or procedure-related adverse events were observed. The colostomy specimens of the experimental dogs were obtained 2 wk after the operation. Both gross and histological observations showed good anastomotic healing.CONCLUSION The DSAMAR is a safe and feasible option for the treatment of colon stenosis. Its specific deformation and selfassembly capability maximize the applicability of the minimally invasive treatment.

文摘The mechanical properties of metal components are determined by the solidification behaviour and microstructure. The simulation results are in good agreement with experimental results.

文摘The repair of osteochondral defects is one of the major clinical challenges in orthopaedics.Well-established osteochondral tissue engineering methods have shown promising results for the early treatment of small defects. However, less success has been achieved for the regeneration of large defects, which is mainly due to the mechanical environment of the joint and the heterogeneous nature of the tissue. In this study,we developed a multi-layered osteochondral scaffold to match the heterogeneous nature of osteochondral tissue by harnessing additive manufacturing technologies and combining the established art laser sintering and material extrusion techniques. The developed scaffold is based on a titanium and polylactic acid matrix-reinforced collagen“sandwich”composite system. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the scaffold were examined, and its safety and efficacy in the repair of large osteochondral defects were tested in an ovine condyle model. The 12-week in vivo evaluation period revealed extensive and significantly higher bone in-growth in the multi-layered scaffold compared with the collagen–HAp scaffold, and the achieved stable mechanical fixation provided strong support to the healing of the overlying cartilage,as demonstrated by hyaline-like cartilage formation. The histological examination showed that the regenerated cartilage in the multi-layer scaffold group was superior to that formed in the control group.Chondrogenic genes such as aggrecan and collagen-II were upregulated in the scaffold and were higher than those in the control group. The findings showed the safety and efficacy of the cell-free“translation-ready”osteochondral scaffold, which has the potential to be used in a one-step surgical procedure for the treatment of large osteochondral defects.

文摘The rapid development of additive manufacturing technology has offered a new avenue for designing and fabricating high wave-absorbing meta structures. In this study, the mechanical properties and broadband absorption performance of Poly-Ether-Ether-Ketone(PEEK)–based electromagnetic wave–absorbing composite materials was investigated. The high-performance polymer PEEK was used as the matrix, and the materials with electromagnetic wave loss, such as reduced graphene oxide,Carbonyl Iron(CI),and Flake CI(FCI),were used as absorbers.Based on the theory of impedance matching,a wave-absorbing structure with a gradual impedance gradient was designed and printed. The test results showed that at the 2.0–18.0 GHz frequency band, the coverage rate of the effective absorption bandwidth was up to 72.0%,the average optimal reflectivity was–18.09 dB,and the wide-angle absorption range was 0°–30°.The advantages of additive manufacturing technology in designing and fabricating wave-absorbing structures are presented, demonstrating that the technology is an effective method for creating broadband absorbing structures.
