Wave velocities and anisotropy of rocks:Implication for origin of low velocity zone of the Qinling Orogenic Belt,China

Structure and composition of Earth are fundamental importance in exploring the dynamic evolution of the crust and mantle.The Qinling Orogenic Belt(QOB)is located between the North China plate and the South China Plate,and is one of the main orogenic belts in China.To explore the composition and origin of anisotropy and the low wave velocity zone of the QOB,ten rock samples(gneiss and schist)were collected from the five sites of the QOB and the P-and S-wave velocities of these samples were measured under 0.6 to 2.0 GPa and 100 to 550℃.The wave velocities increase with increasing pressure and decreasing temperature.The V_(P)and V_(S)of the schist and gneiss match the velocity of the middle and lower crust of the QOB,indicating that schist and gneiss are important component of the QOB.All the schist and gneiss samples exhibit obvious seismic anisotropy with 1.64%-17.42%for V_(S)and 2.93%-14.78%for V_(P)under conditions of crust and upper mantle.The CPO/LPO and layering distribution of mica in rock samples are the main reasons for this anisotropy.The V_(S)structures below the five sampled sites from seismic ambient noise tomography were built to explore the effect of schist and gneiss on the composition and structure of the QOB.The results indicate that orientation-arranged gneiss and schist driven by the tectonic stresses might be a new origin of the character of V_(P)/V_(S),seismic anisotropy,and the low velocity zone in the QOB. 展开更多

In this paper, we propose a parallel computing technique for content-based image retrieval (CBIR) system. This technique is mainly used for single node with multi-core processor, which is different from those based on cluster or network computing architecture. Due to its specific applications (such as medical image processing) and the harsh terms of hardware resource requirement, the CBIR system has been prevented from being widely used. With the increasing volume of the image database, the widespread use of multi-core processors, and the requirement of the retrieval accuracy and speed, we need to achieve a retrieval strategy which is based on multi-core processor to make the retrieval faster and more convenient than before. Experimental results demonstrate that this parallel architecture can significantly improve the performance of retrieval system. In addition, we also propose an efficient parallel technique with the combinations of the cluster and the multi-core techniques, which is supposed to gear to the new trend of the cloud computing. 展开更多

The viscoelastic material is assumed to obey a three-dimensional fractional derivative constitutive relation. ne quasi-static behavior of the viscoelastic Timoshenko beam under step loading is analyzed and the analytical solution is obtained. The influence of material parameters on the deflection is investigated. The dynamical response of the viscoelastic Timoshenko beam subjected to a periodic excitation is studied by means of mode shape functions. Precise integration methods to solve structural dynamic responses and the corresponding time integration formula are composed of two parts: the multiplication of an exponential matrix with a vector and the integration term. The second term can be solved by the series solution. Two hybrid granularity parallel algorithms are designed, that is, the exponential matrix and the first term are computed by the fine-grained parallel algorithra and the second term is computed by the coarse-grained parallel algorithm. Numerical examples show that these two hybrid granularity parallel algorithms obtain higher speedup and parallel efficiency than two existing parallel algorithms. 展开更多

A new numerical method for the fractional integral that only stores part history data is presented, and its discretization error is estimated. The method can be used to solve the integro_differential equation including fractional integral or fractional derivative in a long history. The difficulty of storing all history data is overcome and the error can be controlled. As application,motion equations governing the dynamical behavior of a viscoelastic Timoshenko beam with fractional derivative constitutive relation are given. The dynamical response of the beam subjected to a periodic excitation is studied by using the separation variables method. Then the new numerical method is used to solve a class of weakly singular Volterra integro_differential equations which are applied to describe the dynamical behavior of viscoelastic beams with fractional derivative constitutive relations. The analytical and unmerical results are compared. It is found that they are very close. 展开更多
