The main aim of this study is to quantitatively predict the extent of landslides using the index of entropy model(IOE), the support vector machine model(SVM) and two hybrid models namely the F-IOE model and the F-SVM model constructed by fractal dimension. First, a total of 179 landslides were identified and landslide inventory map was produced, with 70%(125) of the landslides which was optimized by 10-fold crossvalidation being used for training purpose and the remaining 30%(54) of landslides being used for validation purpose. Subsequently, slope angle, slope aspect, altitude, rainfall, plan curvature, distance to rivers, land use, distance to roads, distance to faults, normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI), lithology, and profile curvature were considered as landslide conditioning factors and all factor layers were resampled to a uniform resolution. Then the information gain ratio of each conditioning factors was evaluated. Next, the fractal dimension for each conditioning factors was calculated and the training dataset was used to build four landslide susceptibility models. In the end, the receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves and three statistical indexes involving positive predictive rate(PPR), negative predictive rate(NPR) and accuracy(ACC) were applied to validate and compare the performance of these four models. The results showed that the F-SVM model had the highest PPR, NPR, ACC and AUC values for training and validation datasets, respectively, followed by the F-IOE model. Finally, it is concluded that the F-SVM model performed best in all models, the hybrid model built by fractal dimension has advantages than original model, and can provide reference for local landslide prevention and decision making.展开更多

Finally, it is concluded that the F-SVM model performed best in all models, the hybrid model built by fractal dimension has advantages than original model, and can provide reference for local landslide prevention and decision making.

文摘This study investigated the variations in summer and winter PM_(2.5)concentrations and chemical composition in urban Xi'an before and during the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.During the pandemic restrictions, summer daytime PM_(2.5)concentrations remained comparable to pre-pandemic levels, while a reduction was noted at nighttime.Conversely, winter experienced a significant increase in both daytime and nighttime PM_(2.5)concentrations.Chemical composition analysis revealed reductions in secondary inorganic ion concentrations but notable increases in crustal matter concentrations during the pandemic restrictions, particularly evident in winter. The reductions in secondary inorganic ion concentrations were likely due to decreased emissions of corresponding anthropogenic precursors in summer, while linked to reductions in transformation efficiencies in winter. The heightened crustal matter concentrations were likely attributed to increased contributions of long-range air mass transport from dusty regions, especially prevalent in winter.Source apportionment using positive matrix factorization analysis provided quantitative insights into the distinct source profiles contributing to PM_(2.5)before and during the pandemic restrictions, with secondary inorganic-rich sources decreasing and dust-related sources increasing during the pandemic restrictions.Additionally, combustion sources, primarily from coal and biomass burning, showed higher contributions during winter. In conclusion, this study underscores the complex interplay between anthropogenic and natural factors influencing PM_(2.5)levels in Xi'an.Efforts to mitigate PM_(2.5)pollution should prioritize reducing anthropogenic emissions and implementing measures to control dust emissions, particularly when dust-related sources significantly contribute to elevated PM_(2.5)concentrations.These findings provide valuable insights into developing effective strategies for addressing the PM_(2.5)pollution problem in Xi'an.

文摘Water-induced disasters in long-distance pipelines are prevalent geological hazards, characterized by their frequency and widespread distribution. The complexity of factors contributing to pipeline damage in practical engineering poses a significant challenge for analysis using solely theoretical models. This study systematically reveals the cross-scale failure mechanism of long-distance pipelines under hydrodynamic impact through the combination of multi-scale experimental representation and theoretical modeling.Employing a combination of macroscopic measurements, advanced material testing of residual samples from failed pipelines, and consideration of operational conditions and environmental factors, the failure modes is systematically analyzed. The findings reveal that under the vibrations induced by water impulses, the pipe material exhibits a pronounced ratchet effect, leading to an 8.92%reduction in elongation at break.Furthermore, the Bauschinger effect is observed, resulting in a 2.95%decrease in yield strength.Cyclic hardening significantly diminishes the impact toughness of the weld by 22.2%.Notably,at high vibration frequencies of approximately 18.98 Hz,the stress concentration in the girth weld near the axial midpoint of the pipe section initiates cracking, ultimately leading to failure under the alternating load generated by the oscillation. This study provides valuable insights into the scientific understanding of pipeline failure mechanisms under water impact, contributing to the development ofmore robust and resilient pipeline systems.

文摘The lack of clarity of how natural vegetation restoration influences soil organic carbon(SOC) content and SOC components in soil aggregate fractions limits the understanding of SOC sequestration and turnover in forest ecosystems. The aim of this study was to explore how natural vegetation restoration affects the SOC content and ratio of SOC components in soil macroaggregates(>250 μm), microaggregates(53–250 μm), and silt and clay(<53 μm) fractions in 30-, 60-, 90-and 120-year-old Liaodong oak(Quercus liaotungensis Koidz.) forests, Shaanxi, China in 2015.And the associated effects of biomasses of leaf litter and different sizes of roots(0–0.5, 0.5–1.0, 1.0–2.0 and >2.0 mm diameter) on SOC components were studied too. Results showed that the contents of high activated carbon(HAC), activated carbon(AC) and inert carbon(IC) in the macroaggregates, microaggregates and silt and clay fractions increased with restoration ages. Moreover, IC content in the microaggregates in topsoil(0–20 cm) rapidly increased;peaking in the 90-year-old restored forest, and was 5.74 times higher than AC content. In deep soil(20–80 cm), IC content was 3.58 times that of AC content.Biomasses of 0.5–1.0 mm diameter roots and leaf litter affected the content of aggregate fractions in topsoil, while the biomass of >2.0 mm diameter roots affected the content of aggregate fractions in deep soil.Across the soil profiles, macroaggregates had the highest capacity for HAC sequestration. The effects of restoration ages on soil aggregate fractions and SOC content were less in deep soil than in topsoil. In conclusion, natural vegetation restoration of Liaodong oak forests improved the contents of SOC, especially IC within topsoil and deep soil. The influence of IC on aggregate stability was greater than the other SOC components, and the aggregate stability was significantly affected by the biomasses of litter, 0.5–1.0 mm diameter roots in topsoil and >2.0 mm diameter roots in deep soil.Natural vegetation restoration of Liaodong oak forests promoted SOC sequestration by soil macroaggregates.

文摘Carbonate concretions are conspicuous in organic-rich shales and are generally related to decomposition of organic matter. The black shales from the Chang 7 Member of the Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation of the southern Ordos Basin host abundant carbonate concretions, which provide a unique record of depositional and early diagenetic conditions of the paleo-lake sediments. However, little attention has been given to the genesis and growth processes of the concretions in these lacustrine petroleum source rocks.New petrographic observations and geochemical analysis show that the concretions are composed of calcite, phosphate fossil fragments,K-NH4-feldspar,quartz,bitumen,and minor Fe-dolomite.Phosphate minerals, mainly carbonate fluorapatite(CFA),show pervasive replacement by calcite, most of which contains phosphorus, ranging in concentration from 0.26 to 2.35 wt%.This suggests that the phosphate minerals are the precursors for concretion growth.Positiveδ13C(+5.6 to+12.4‰V-PDB)signatures and the absence of pyrite indicate that microbial methanogenesis was the dominant driver for concretion growth, rather than bacterial sulfate reduction.Quartz, bitumen, and Fe-dolomite are the last cements that occurred,at deep burial depths and high temperatures. The formation of phosphate minerals might have been induced by upwelling of phosphate-enriched deep water in the Late Triassic paleo-lake,which promoted phytoplankton blooms and further enrichment of organic matter.Extremely slow sedimentation rates of fine-grained detrital minerals, relative to dead organism accumulation, led to the high permeabilities of the organic-rich sediments and rapid concretion growth during shallow burial. The close association of phosphate-bearing carbonate concretions and organic-rich shales reflects that upwelling played a critical role in the formation of the high-quality petroleum source rocks in the Triassic paleo-Ordos lake.

文摘Check-dam construction is an effective and widely used method for sediment trapping in the Yellow River Basin and other places over the world that are prone to severe soil erosion.Quantitative estimations of the dynamic sediment trapped by check dams are necessary for evaluating the effects of check dams and planning the construction of new ones.In this study,we propose a new framework, named soil and water assessment tool(SWAT)–dynamic check dam(DCDam),for modeling the sediment trapped by check dams dynamically,by integrating the widely utilized SWAT model and a newly developed module called DCDam.We then applied this framework to a typical loess watershed, the Yan River Basin,to assess the time-varying effects of check-dam networks over the past 60 years(1957–2016).The DCDam module generated a specific check-dam network to conceptualize the complex connections at each time step(monthly). In addition, the streamflow and sediment load simulated by using the SWAT model were employed to force the sediment routing in the check-dam network. The evaluation results revealed that the SWAT-DCDam framework performed satisfactorily, with an overestimation of 11.50%,in simulating sediment trapped by check dams, when compared with a field survey of the accumulated sediment deposition. For the Yan River Basin, our results indicated that the designed structural parameters of check dams have evolved over the past 60 years, with higher dams(37.14%and 9.22%increase for large dams and medium dams, respectively)but smaller controlled areas(46.03%and 10.56%decrease for large dams and medium dams, respectively)in recent years.Sediment retained by check dams contributed to approximately 15.00%of the total sediment load reduction in the Yan River during 1970–2016.Thus,our developed framework can be a promising tool for evaluating check-dam effects, and this study can provide valuable information and support to decision-making for soil and water conservation and check-dam planning and management.
