It is shown that, the model can reasonably simulate the annual cycle and interannual variability of sea surface temperature (SST) in the tropical Pacif- ic, as well as the seasonal phase-locking of the ENSO. The model also captures two prerequisites for the E1 Nino onset, i.e., a westerly anomaly and a warm SST anomaly in the equatorial western Pacific. Owing to too strong forcing from an extratropical meridional wind, however, the westerly anomaly in this region is largely overestimated. Moreover, the simulated thermocline is much shallower with a weaker slope. As a result, the warm SST anomaly from the western Pacific propagates eastward more quickly, leading to a faster develop- ment of an E1 Nino. During the decay stage, owing to a stronger E1Nino in the model, the secondary Gill-type response of the tropical atmosphere to the eastern Pacific warming is much stronger, thereby resulting in a persistent easterly anomaly in the western Pacific. Meanwhile, a cold anomaly in the warm pool appears as a result of a lifted thermocline via Ekman pumping. Finally, an E1 Nino decays into a La Nina through their interactions. In addition, the shorter period and larger amplitude of the ENSO in the model can be attribut- ed to a shallower thermocline in the equatorial Pacific, which speeds up the zonal redistribution of a heat content in the upper ocean.展开更多

文摘This paper proposes an equivalent modeling method for photovoltaic(PV)power stations via a particle swarm optimization(PSO)K-means clustering(KMC)algorithm with passive filter parameter clustering to address the complexities, simulation time cost and convergence problems of detailed PV power station models.First, the amplitude–frequency curves of different filter parameters are analyzed.Based on the results,a grouping parameter set for characterizing the external filter characteristics is established. These parameters are further defined as clustering parameters.A single PV inverter model is then established as a prerequisite foundation. The proposed equivalent method combines the global search capability of PSO with the rapid convergence of KMC,effectively overcoming the tendency of KMC to become trapped in local optima. This approach enhances both clustering accuracy and numerical stability when determining equivalence for PV inverter units.Using the proposed clustering method, both a detailed PV power station model and an equivalent model are developed and compared.Simulation and hardwarein-loop(HIL)results based on the equivalent model verify that the equivalent method accurately represents the dynamic characteristics of PVpower stations and adapts well to different operating conditions. The proposed equivalent modeling method provides an effective analysis tool for future renewable energy integration research.

文摘The development of ZnO-based composites with high charge separation and effective inhibition of toxic by-products is admirable for effective photocatalysis of nitrogen oxides(NO_(x))oxidation.In this study, carbon quan-tum dots(CQDs)/ZnO hollow microspheres, synthesized through a rapid microwave-assisted method, achievedover a 30-fold higher NO_(x) removal efficiency compared to ZnO,with complete inhibition of NO_(2) by-products andgood durability. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was ascribed to the unique role of CQDs,as revealed byin-situ photoelectric techniques. Results demonstrated that the electron directional migration from ZnO to CQDsat the composite interface accounts for the enhanced charge separation.Active free radicals for NO_(x) oxidationwere identified, and in-situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy analysis elucidated theconversion pathways of NO_(x) oxidation under visible light irradiation. This work sheds light on the mechanismsof electron transfer and charge separation at the composite interface, offering guidance for designing superiorZnO-based photocatalysts for complete NO_(x) removal.
文摘Experimental therapies targeting immune and stromal cells, such as mast cells,cancer-associated fibroblasts, dendritic cells, and tumor endothelial cells,in the treatment of gastrointestinal solid tumors pose new and complex surgical and medico-legal challenges. These innovative treatments require that informed consent not be limited to simple acceptance of the medical procedure, but instead reflect a true relational and cognitive process grounded in understanding, free choice, and the ability to revoke consent at any time.In particular,it is essential that the patient understands the experimental nature of the therapy, its development stage, potential benefits and risks,as well as the implications for their health and personal dignity. In the case of stromal cell-based treatments, which may exert complex immunomodulatory effects or activate angiogenic pathways that are not yet fully understood, patients must be made fully aware that they are participating in a non-standardized therapy whose outcomes, whether beneficial or harmful, cannot yet be predicted with certainty. This requires particularly careful medical communication, using simple yet scientifically accurate explanations delivered in appropriate language, along with a final verification of the patient’s actual understanding.

文摘Based on reanalysis data from 1979 to 2021,this study explores the spatial distribution of the Southern Indian Ocean Dipole(SIOD)and its individual and synergistic effects with the El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)on summer precipitation in China. The inverse phase spatial distribution of sea surface temperature anomalies(SSTAs)in the southwest and northeast of the southern Indian Ocean is defined as the SIOD.Positive SIOD events(positive SSTAs in the southwest, negative SSTAs in the northeast)are associated with La Niña events(Central Pacific(CP)type),while negative SIOD events(negative SSTAs in the southwest, positive SSTAs in the northeast)are associated with El Niño events(Eastern Pacific(EP)type). Both SIOD and ENSO have certain impacts on summer precipitation in China.Precipitation in the Yangtze River basin decreases, while precipitation in southern China increases during pure positive SIOD(P_PSIOD)events.During pure negative SIOD(P_NSIOD)events,the changes in precipitation are exactly the opposite of those during P_PSIOD events, which may be due to differences in the cross-equatorial flow in the southern Indian Ocean, particularly in low-level Australian cross-equatorial flow. When positive SIOD and CP-type La Niña events occur simultaneously(PSIOD+La_Niña),precipitation increases in the Yangtze-Huaihe River basin, while it decreases in northern China. When negative SIOD and EP-type El Niño events occur simultaneously(NSIOD+El_Niño),precipitation in the Yangtze-Huaihe River basin is significantly lower than during P_NSIOD events. This is caused by differences in water vapor originating from the Pacific Ocean during different events.

文摘The electric double layer(EDL)at the electrochemical interface is crucial for ion transport, charge transfer, and surface reactions in aqueous rechargeable zinc batteries(ARZBs).However,Zn anodes routinely encounter persistent dendrite growth and parasitic reactions, driven by the inhomogeneous charge distribution and water-dominated environment within the EDL.Compounding this, classical EDL theory, rooted in meanfield approximations, further fails to resolve molecular-scale interfacial dynamics under battery-operating conditions, limiting mechanistic insights.Herein,we established a multiscale theoretical calculation framework from single molecular characteristics to interfacial ion distribution, revealing the EDL’s structure and interactions between different ions and molecules, which helps us understand the parasitic processes in depth.Simulations demonstrate that water dipole and sulfate ion adsorption at the inner Helmholtz plane drives severe hydrogen evolution and by-product formation.Guided by these insights,we engineered a“water-poor and anion-expelled”EDL using 4,1’,6’-trichlorogalactosucrose(TGS)as an electrolyte additive. As a result,Zn||Zn symmetric cells with TGS exhibited stable cycling for over 4700 h under a current density of 1 mA cm^(−2),while NaV_(3)O_(8)·1.5H_(2)O-based full cells kept 90.4%of the initial specific capacity after 800 cycles at 5 A g^(−1).This work highlights the power of multiscale theoretical frameworks to unravel EDL complexities and guide high-performance ARZB design through integrated theory-experiment approaches.

文摘Safflower is an important oilseed crop that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years because of the clinically valuable flavonoid glycosides in its flower petals. However, the biosynthesis and molecular regulation of these compounds are still elusive due to the lack of a high-quality reference genome and scarce identification of key biosynthetic pathway genes in a medicinal safflower variety. Here we leveraged an integrative multi-omics strategy by combining genomic, comparative genomics, and tissue-specific transcriptome profiling with biochemical analysis to identify uridine diphosphate glycosyltransferases(UGTs)for flavonoid glycoside biosynthesis in safflower. We assembled and annotated a high-quality reference genome of a medicinal safflower variety,‘Yunhong3’.A comprehensive comparative genomic analysis indicated that an evolutionary whole-genome triplication event occurring in safflower contributed to gene amplification of the flavonoid biosynthetic pathway.By combining comparative transcriptome profiling with enzymatic reactions,we identified 11 novel UGTs that could catalyze the conversion of naringenin chalcone and phloretin to the corresponding O-glycosides.Moreover,we outlined the molecular pathway of hydroxysafflor yellow A(HSYA)biosynthesis featured by 17 newly identified UGTs with promising catalytic activity, laying the foundation for the synthetic production of HSYA.Our study reports systemic genome and gene expression information for flavonoid glycoside biosynthesis in medicinal safflower and provides insights into mechanisms regulating HSYA biosynthesis, which would facilitate the genetic improvement and synthetic bioengineering design for producing clinically valuable flavonoid glycosides in safflower.

文摘Laser-induced aerosols, predominantly submicron in size, pose significant environmental and health risks during the decommissioning of nuclear reactors. This study experimentally investigated the removal of laser-generated aerosol particles using a water spray system integrated with an innovative system for pre-injecting electrically charged mist in our facility. To simulate aerosol generation in reactor decommissioning,a high-power laser was used to irradiate various materials(including stainless steel, carbon steel, and concrete),generating aerosol particles that were agglomerated with injected water mist and subsequently scavenged by water spray.Experimental results demonstrate enhanced aerosol removal via aerosol-mist agglomeration, with charged mist significantly improving particle capture by increasing wettability and size. The average improvements for the stainless steel, carbon steel, and concrete were 40%,44%,and 21%,respectively.The results of experiments using charged mist with different polarities(both positive and negative)and different surface coatings reveal that the dominant polarity of aerosols varies with the irradiated materials, influenced by their crystal structure and electron emission properties.Notably, surface coatings such as ZrO_(2)and CeO_(2)were found to possibly alter aerosol charging characteristics, thereby affecting aerosol removal efficiency with charged mist configurations. The innovative aerosol-mist agglomeration approach shows promise in mitigating radiation exposure, ensuring environmental safety, and reducing contaminated water during reactor dismantling. This study contributes critical knowledge for the development of advanced aerosol management strategies for nuclear reactor decommissioning. The understanding obtained in this work is also expected to be useful for various environmental and chemical engineering applications such as gas decontamination, air purification, and pollution control.

文摘On the basis of more than 200-year control run, the performance of the climate system model of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS-ESM-C) in simulating the E1 Nifio-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) cycle is evalu- ated, including the onset, development and decay of the ENSO. In addition, the shorter period and larger amplitude of the ENSO in the model can be attribut- ed to a shallower thermocline in the equatorial Pacific, which speeds up the zonal redistribution of a heat content in the upper ocean.

文摘Lithium-oxygen(Li-O2)batteries are perceived as a promising breakthrough in sustainable electrochemical energy storage, utilizing ambient air as an energy source, eliminating the need for costly cathode materials, and offering the highest theoretical energy density(~3.5 k Wh kg^(-1))among discussed candidates.Contributing to the poor cycle life of currently reported Li-O_(2)cells is singlet oxygen(1O_(2))formation,inducing parasitic reactions, degrading key components, and severely deteriorating cell performance. Here,we harness the chirality-induced spin selectivity effect of chiral cobalt oxide nanosheets(Co_(3)O_(4)NSs)as cathode materials to suppress 1O_(2)in Li-O_(2)batteries for the first time.Operando photoluminescence spectroscopy reveals a 3.7-fold and 3.23-fold reduction in 1O_(2)during discharge and charge, respectively, compared to conventional carbon paperbased cells, consistent with differential electrochemical mass spectrometry results, which indicate a near-theoretical charge-to-O_(2)ratio(2.04 e-/O_(2)).Density functional theory calculations demonstrate that chirality induces a peak shift near the Fermi level, enhancing Co 3d-O 2p hybridization, stabilizing reaction intermediates, and lowering activation barriers for Li_(2)O_(2)formation and decomposition. These findings establish a new strategy for improving the stability and energy efficiency of sustainable Li-O_(2)batteries,abridging the current gap to commercialization.
