The year 2024 marked the 40th anniversary of Advances in Atmospheric Sciences(AAS),as well as the centenary of the Chinese Meteorological Society(CMS).The inaugural issue of AAS was published in 1984,initially being sponsored primarily by Chinese National Committee for the International Association of Meteorological and Atmospheric Sciences(IAMAS)and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.In 2006,Springer became AAS’s international publisher.Then,in 2015,the CMS joined in sponsoring AAS,and in the same year,AAS also became an affiliated journal of the IAMAS.These milestone events helped broaden the reach of AAS,culminating in the journal establishing itself as a truly international journal supporting the advancement of the atmospheric sciences. 展开更多

Downregulation of the inwardly rectifying potassium channel Kir4.1 is a key step for inducing retinal Müller cell activation and interaction with other glial cells,which is involved in retinal ganglion cell apoptosis in glaucoma.Modulation of Kir4.1 expression in Müller cells may therefore be a potential strategy for attenuating retinal ganglion cell damage in glaucoma.In this study,we identified seven predicted phosphorylation sites in Kir4.1 and constructed lentiviral expression systems expressing Kir4.1 mutated at each site to prevent phosphorylation.Following this,we treated Müller glial cells in vitro and in vivo with the m Glu R I agonist DHPG to induce Kir4.1 or Kir4.1 Tyr^(9)Asp overexpression.We found that both Kir4.1 and Kir4.1 Tyr^(9)Asp overexpression inhibited activation of Müller glial cells.Subsequently,we established a rat model of chronic ocular hypertension by injecting microbeads into the anterior chamber and overexpressed Kir4.1 or Kir4.1 Tyr^(9)Asp in the eye,and observed similar results in Müller cells in vivo as those seen in vitro.Both Kir4.1 and Kir4.1 Tyr^(9)Asp overexpression inhibited Müller cell activation,regulated the balance of Bax/Bcl-2,and reduced the m RNA and protein levels of pro-inflammatory factors,including interleukin-1βand tumor necrosis factor-α.Furthermore,we investigated the regulatory effects of Kir4.1 and Kir4.1 Tyr^(9)Asp overexpression on the release of pro-inflammatory factors in a co-culture system of Müller glial cells and microglia.In this co-culture system,we observed elevated adenosine triphosphate concentrations in activated Müller cells,increased levels of translocator protein(a marker of microglial activation),and elevated interleukin-1βm RNA and protein levels in microglia induced by activated Müller cells.These changes could be reversed by Kir4.1 and Kir4.1 Tyr^(9)Asp overexpression in Müller cells.Kir4.1 overexpression,but not Kir4.1 Tyr^(9)Asp overexpression,reduced the number of proliferative and migratory microglia induced by activated Müller cells.Collectively,these results suggest that the tyrosine residue at position nine in Kir4.1 may serve as a functional modulation site in the retina in an experimental model of glaucoma.Kir4.1 and Kir4.1 Tyr^(9)Asp overexpression attenuated Müller cell activation,reduced ATP/P2X receptor–mediated interactions between glial cells,inhibited microglial activation,and decreased the synthesis and release of pro-inflammatory factors,consequently ameliorating retinal ganglion cell apoptosis in glaucoma. 展开更多

Low-intensity transcranial ultrasound neuromodulation promotes neuronal regeneration:A new hope for noninvasive treatment of neurodegenerative diseases 被引量:1

Neurodegenerative diseases,which are characterized by progressive neuronal loss and the lack of disease-modifying therapies,are becoming a major global health challenge.The existing neuromodulation techniques,such as ... Neurodegenerative diseases,which are characterized by progressive neuronal loss and the lack of disease-modifying therapies,are becoming a major global health challenge.The existing neuromodulation techniques,such as deep brain stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation,show limitations such as invasiveness,restricted cortical targeting,and irreversible tissue effects.In this context,low-intensity transcranial ultrasound has emerged as a promising noninvasive alternative that can penetrate deep into the brain and modulate neuroplasticity.This review comprehensively assesses the therapeutic mechanisms,efficacy,and translational potential of low-intensity transcranial ultrasound in treating neurodegenerative diseases,with emphasis on its role in promoting neuronal regeneration,modulating neuroinflammation,and enhancing functional recovery.We summarize the findings of previous studies and systematically illustrate the potential of low-intensity transcranial ultrasound in regulating cell death mechanisms,enhancing neural repair and regeneration,and alleviating symptoms associated with neurodegenerative diseases.Preclinical findings indicate that low-intensity transcranial ultrasound can enhance the release of neurotrophic factors(e.g.,brain-derived neurotrophic factor),promote autophagy to clear protein aggregates,modulate microglial activation,and temporarily open the blood-brain barrier to facilitate targeted drug delivery.Existing clinical trial data show that low-intensity transcranial ultrasound can reduce amyloid-βplaques,improve motor and cognitive deficits,and promote remyelination in various disease models.Early clinical trials suggest that low-intensity transcranial ultrasound may enhance cognitive scores in Alzheimer’s disease and alleviate motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease,all while demonstrating a favorable safety profile.Past studies support the notion that by integrating safety,precision,and reversibility,low-intensity transcranial ultrasound can transform the treatment landscape for neurodegenerative disease.However,more advancements are necessary for future clinical application of low-intensity transcranial ultrasound,including optimizing parameters such as frequency,intensity,and duty cycle;considering individual anatomical differences;and confirming long-term efficacy.We believe establishing standardized protocols,conducting larger trials,and investigating the underlying mechanisms to clarify dose-response relationships and refine personalized application strategies are essential in this regard.Future research should focus on translating preclinical findings into clinical practice,addressing technical challenges,and exploring combination therapies with pharmacological or gene interventions. 展开更多

Cryptorhynchus lapathi L.,a globally distributed wood-boring pest,significantly threatens poplar(Populus spp.)and willow(Salix spp.)trees.Entomopathogenic fungi(EPFs),particularly Beauveria bassiana(Bals.-Criv.)Vuilla,play a crucial role in integrated pest management because of their broad-spectrum insecticidal properties.This study clarifies the pathogenic mechanisms of B.bassiana CFCC81428 treatment and its oil-based formulation against male and female C.lapathi adults,alongside their impacts on cumulative mortality,enzyme activity and nutrient metabolism.The results indicated that the oil-based formulation significantly enhanced B.bassiana pathogenicity,achieving cumulative mortality rates of 91.7%and 83.8%for male and female adults,respectively,with LT50 values of 7.9 and 8.7 d,markedly outperforming the B.bassiana treatment.Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the oil-based formulation improved spore adhesion to the insects'cuticle,accelerated spore germination and hyphal growth,and significantly improved cuticular penetration efficiency.Within the host,the activities of detoxification enzymes(GST and CarE)were upregulated,whereas the activities of catalase and peroxidase enzymes were suppressed.Superoxide dismutase activity remained elevated throughout most of the observation time points.Polyphenol oxidase activity significantly increased between 24 and120 h postinfection,indicating its critical role in preventing B.bassiana invasion.The infection also triggered substantial shifts in the host's nutrient metabolism,with time-dependent changes observed in carbohydrates,free fatty acids,and soluble proteins.The oil-based formulation exacerbated the depletion of these nutrients,ultimately leading to metabolic collapse.This study indicates that the oil-based formulation optimizes spore germination conditions and accelerates infection,thereby significantly increasing B.bassiana pathogenicity in C.lapathi males,whereas female adults exhibited stronger physiological and metabolic responses,providing new insights for the application of B.bassiana in the biological control of pests. 展开更多

Diabetic retinopathy is a prominent cause of blindness in adults,with early retinal ganglion cell loss contributing to visual dysfunction or blindness.In the brain,defects inγ-aminobutyric acid synaptic transmission are associated with pathophysiological and neurodegenerative disorders,whereas glucagon-like peptide-1 has demonstrated neuroprotective effects.However,it is not yet clear whether diabetes causes alterations in inhibitory input to retinal ganglion cells and whether and how glucagon-like peptide-1 protects against neurodegeneration in the diabetic retina through regulating inhibitory synaptic transmission to retinal ganglion cells.In the present study,we used the patch-clamp technique to recordγ-aminobutyric acid subtype A receptor-mediated miniature inhibitory postsynaptic currents in retinal ganglion cells from streptozotocin-induced diabetes model rats.We found that early diabetes(4 weeks of hyperglycemia)decreased the frequency of GABAergic miniature inhibitory postsynaptic currents in retinal ganglion cells without altering their amplitude,suggesting a reduction in the spontaneous release ofγ-aminobutyric acid to retinal ganglion cells.Topical administration of glucagon-like peptide-1 eyedrops over a period of 2 weeks effectively countered the hyperglycemia-induced downregulation of GABAergic mIPSC frequency,subsequently enhancing the survival of retinal ganglion cells.Concurrently,the protective effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 on retinal ganglion cells in diabetic rats were eliminated by topical administration of exendin-9-39,a specific glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor antagonist,or SR95531,a specific antagonist of theγ-aminobutyric acid subtype A receptor.Furthermore,extracellular perfusion of glucagon-like peptide-1 was found to elevate the frequencies of GABAergic miniature inhibitory postsynaptic currents in both ON-and OFF-type retinal ganglion cells.This elevation was shown to be mediated by activation of the phosphatidylinositol-phospholipase C/inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor/Ca2+/protein kinase C signaling pathway downstream of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor activation.Moreover,multielectrode array recordings revealed that glucagon-like peptide-1 functionally augmented the photoresponses of ON-type retinal ganglion cells.Optomotor response tests demonstrated that diabetic rats exhibited reductions in visual acuity and contrast sensitivity that were significantly ameliorated by topical administration of glucagon-like peptide-1.These results suggest that glucagon-like peptide-1 facilitates the release ofγ-aminobutyric acid onto retinal ganglion cells through the activation of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor,leading to the de-excitation of retinal ganglion cell circuits and the inhibition of excitotoxic processes associated with diabetic retinopathy.Collectively,our findings indicate that theγ-aminobutyric acid system has potential as a therapeutic target for mitigating early-stage diabetic retinopathy.Furthermore,the topical administration of glucagon-like peptide-1 eyedrops represents a non-invasive and effective treatment approach for managing early-stage diabetic retinopathy. 展开更多

Objective:To investigate the effect of Catalpa ovata fruit extract(COFE)on muscle growth and exercise performance in C2C12 myoblasts and mice.Me t h o d s:Cel l viabi l i ty was determined through a 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay.Myogenic differentiation was observed using Giemsa staining.COFE was administered to mice orally at 50 and 200 mg/kg for 10 weeks.Muscular strength was evaluated using the whole-limb grip strength assay.The expression levels of myogenesis-and energy metabolism-related proteins in vitro and in vivo were determined using Western blotting.Results:COFE significantly improved myoblast-to-myotube differentiation in C2C12 myoblasts.It also increased the expression of myogenesis determination protein 1 and myogenin compared with the control group.Moreover,the expression levels of glucose transporter type 4(Glut4)and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma coactivator 1-alpha(PGC-1α)were significantly elevated in the presence of COFE in C2C12 myoblasts.COFE also markedly increased phosphorylation of AMP-activated protein kinase,which regulates Glut4 and PGC-1αexpression levels in C2C12 myoblasts.Mice treated with COFE showed improved grip strength.Myogenesis-and energy metabolism-related protein levels in muscle tissue were significantly increased in COFE-administered mice.Conclusions:COFE treatment improves exercise performance by controlling myogenesis and energy metabolism in skeletal muscle.COFE has the potential to be used as an effective natural agent for enhancing muscular strength. 展开更多

Cerebral ischemia restricts cerebral blood flow(CBF),leading to unstable hemodynamics.Past studies of ischemia mainly focused on cortical CBF reduction.However,its impact on hemodynamic changes,especially temporal varying characteristics,remains poorly understood.Here,we collected cortical resting-state CBF in rats with left carotid artery blockage during occlusion–reperfusion,and measured the temporal variability and changes in laterality using a novel state-space method.This method was also applied to stroke EEG datasets to validate its effectiveness.After arterial occlusion,the left marginal motor,sensory,auditory,and visual cortices exhibited severe temporal variability impairments.The laterality analysis indicated that affected left regions showed inferior unilateral mean,inter-hemispheric transition probability,time fraction,and laterality duration,while the right side had a higher laterality time fraction and duration.These impairments recovered partially following blood flow restoration.Besides,the ischemic state-space metrics were positively correlated with the pre-occlusion baseline appearance.Stroke patients exhibited impaired temporal variability in the affected ischemic hemisphere.The state-space analysis revealed damaged CBF temporal variability during cerebral ischemia and predicted baseline-ischemia connections. 展开更多

Automatic Recognition Algorithm of Pavement Defects Based on S3M and SDI Modules Using UAV-Collected Road Images

With the rapid development of transportation infrastructure,ensuring road safety through timely and accurate highway inspection has become increasingly critical.Traditional manual inspection methods are not only time-consuming and labor-intensive,but they also struggle to provide consistent,high-precision detection and realtime monitoring of pavement surface defects.To overcome these limitations,we propose an Automatic Recognition of PavementDefect(ARPD)algorithm,which leverages unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-based aerial imagery to automate the inspection process.The ARPD framework incorporates a backbone network based on the Selective State Space Model(S3M),which is designed to capture long-range temporal dependencies.This enables effective modeling of dynamic correlations among redundant and often repetitive structures commonly found in road imagery.Furthermore,a neck structure based on Semantics and Detail Infusion(SDI)is introduced to guide cross-scale feature fusion.The SDI module enhances the integration of low-level spatial details with high-level semantic cues,thereby improving feature expressiveness and defect localization accuracy.Experimental evaluations demonstrate that theARPDalgorithm achieves a mean average precision(mAP)of 86.1%on a custom-labeled pavement defect dataset,outperforming the state-of-the-art YOLOv11 segmentation model.The algorithm also maintains strong generalization ability on public datasets.These results confirm that ARPD is well-suited for diverse real-world applications in intelligent,large-scale highway defect monitoring and maintenance planning. 展开更多

Balanced Evolution of the Vertical Tilt of Simulated Tropical Cyclone Vortices in a Sheared Environment

The development of a vertically aligned vortex is crucial for tropical cyclone(TC)intensification,especially in the presence of environmental vertical wind shear(VWS).In comparison with previous studies,this study provides more rigorous evidence supporting the role of balanced dynamics in the evolution of vortex tilt by using the potential vorticity(PV)inversion method.Based on two idealized simulations of TCs subjected to nearly constant easterly shear of approximately 6 m s^(–1) and 10 m s^(–1),we demonstrate that the wavenumber-1 circulations directly responsible for vortex tilt evolution are predominantly captured by the balanced component,characterized by vortex Rossby waves.Furthermore,the adiabatic lifting resulting from the balanced response of the shear-tilted vortex contributes to enhanced convection in the TC inner core.As an air parcel undergoes cyclonic rotation,it ascends on the right side of the tilt vector,which increases relative humidity,leads to saturation,and drives the development of convective asymmetries,with maximum upward motion aligned with the tilt direction.This study suggests that the response of TC vortices to the environmental VWS involves complex interactions between vortex tilt,asymmetries in TC structure,and convection,all of which can largely be understood within the framework of balanced dynamics. 展开更多

Nanophase iron particles(np-Fe^(0))have multiple formation mechanisms in lunar soil,which are mostly related to meteorite and micro meteorite impacts.Thermal modification of the impact is critical.Metal oxides have unique chemical and physical properties that allow np-Fe^(0) to form at a lower initial reaction temperature.Through the insitu heating experiment of ilmenite in the Chang'e-5 sample,it was found that ilmenite can form np-Fe^(0) at 400℃under high vacuum(10-6 Pa).This fills in the missing information on the lowest measured temperature at which ilmenite forms np-Fe^(0).At 400-800℃,only np-Fe^(0) and vesicles were formed without new Ti-rich minerals.At the same time,thermodynamic calculations showed that decomposition of ilmenite occurs in two stages.The experiments correspond to the initial stage of ilmenite thermal decomposition under high vacuum.The study explains the thermal decomposition reaction of ilmenite in a vacuum environment,provides a reference for the minimum measured temperature required for the formation of np-Fe^(0),and further improves the formation mechanism of np-Fe^(0). 展开更多

Metal-support interaction(MSI) is crucial for fine-tuning the active-site structure of supported catalysts and enhancing performance.Here,we present an ammonia-directed reactive gas-metal-support interaction(RGMSI),in which NH_(3) reduces ZnO and assembles an anti-perovskite Ni_(3)ZnN structure with interstitial nitrogen,significantly boosting hydrogenation efficiency.Nitrogen incorporation expands the lattice parameter,increasing the(111) lattice spacing from 2.04Å in Ni to 2.18Å in Ni_(3)ZnN,with an extended Ni-Ni interatomic distance from 2.49Å to 2.65Å.Additionally,Ni-N coordination shifts the d-band center downward and induces electron deficiency in Ni via charge transfer.These modifications optimize reactant adsorption on the tailored Ni_(3)ZnN structure compared to Ni,leading to a remarkable increase in 1,3-butadiene hydrogenation selectivity from 30.0 % to 92.9 %,along with an enhanced TOF from 0.067 s^(-1) to 0.079 s^(-1).These findings highlight RGMSI as a versatile and effective strategy for designing supported metal catalysts,offering new insights into selective hydrogenation catalysis. 展开更多

As one of the major volatile components in extraterrestrial materials,nitrogen(N_(2))isotopes serve not only as tracers for the formation and evolution of the solar system,but also play a critical role in assessing planetary habitability and the search for extraterrestrial life.The integrated measurement of N_(2)and argon(Ar)isotopes by using noble gas mass spectrometry represents a state-of-the-art technique for such investigations.To support the growing demands of planetary science research in China,we have developed a high-efficiency,high-precision method for the integrated analysis of N_(2)and Ar isotopes.This was achieved by enhancing gas extraction and purification systems and integrating them with a static noble gas mass spectrometer.This method enables integrated N_(2)-Ar isotope measurements on submilligram samples,significantly improving sample utilization and reducing the impact of sample heterogeneity on volatile analysis.The system integrates CO_(2)laser heating,a modular two-stage Zr-Al getter pump,and a CuO furnace-based purification process,effectively reducing background levels(N_(2)blank as low as 0.35×10^(−6)cubic centimeters at standard temperature and pressure[ccSTP]).Analytical precision is ensured through calibration with atmospheric air and CO corrections.To validate the reliability of the method,we performed N_(2)-Ar isotope analyses on the Allende carbonaceous chondrite,one of the most extensively studied meteorites internationally.The measured N_(2)concentrations range from 19.2 to 29.8 ppm,withδ15N values between−44.8‰and−33.0‰.Concentrations of 40Ar,36Ar,and 38Ar are(12.5-21.1)×10^(−6)ccSTP/g,(90.9-150.3)×10^(−9)ccSTP/g,and(19.2-30.7)×10^(−9)ccSTP/g,respectively.These values correspond to cosmic-ray exposure ages of 4.5-5.7 Ma,consistent with previous reports.Step-heating experiments further reveal distinct release patterns of N and Ar isotopes,as well as their associations with specific mineral phases in the meteorite.In summary,the combined N_(2)-Ar isotopic system offers significant advantages for tracing volatile sources in extraterrestrial materials and will provide essential analytical support for upcoming Chinese planetary missions,such as Tianwen-2. 展开更多

This study traces the development of the Shanghai Typhoon Model(SHTM)from a traditional physics-based regional model toward a data-driven,machine-learning typhoon forecasting system.After upgrading its initial and boundary conditions,SHTM now leverages large-scale constraints from machine-learning weather prediction(MLWP)models,resulting in an ML–physics hybrid framework.During Typhoon Danas(2025),the hybrid SHTM achieves substantially lower track errors than both the advanced ECMWF Integrated Forecasting System(IFS)and leading MLWP models such as PanGu and FuXi.Furthermore,the hybrid SHTM consistently maintains mean track errors below 200 km up to a forecast lead time of 108 hours,representing a significant advancement in forecast accuracy.In addition,this study highlights the technical roadmap for transitioning from a physics-based typhoon model to a fully data-driven ML typhoon forecast system.It also emphasizes that advances in the physical modeling framework provide a critical foundation for further improving the performance of future data-driven ML typhoon models. 展开更多

The pseudo-two-dimensional(P2D)model plays an important role in exploring physicochemical mechanisms,predicting the state of health,and improving the fast charge capability for Li-ion batteries(LIBs).However,the fast charge leads to the lithium concentration gradient in the solid and electrolyte phases and the non-uniform electrochemical reaction at the solid/electrolyte interface.In order to decouple charge transfer reactions in LIBs under dynamic conditions,understanding the spatio-temporal resolution of the P2D model is urgently required.Till now,the study of this aspect is still insufficient.This work studies the spatio-temporal resolution for dynamic/static electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(DEIS/SEIS)on multiple scales.In detail,DEIS and SEIS with spatio-temporal resolutions are used to decouple charge transfer reactions in LIBs based on the numerical solution of the P2D model in the frequency domain.The calculated results indicate that decoupling solid diffusion requires a high spatial resolution along the r-direction in particles,decoupling electrolyte diffusion and interfacial transfer reaction requires a high spatial resolution along the x-direction,and decoupling charge transfer reactions in LIBs at an extremely low state of charge(SOC)requires an extremely high temporal resolution along the t-direction.Finally,the optimal range of spatio-temporal resolutions for DEIS/SEIS is derived,and the method to decouple charge transfer reactions with spatio-temporal resolutions is developed. 展开更多

This paper proposes an equivalent modeling method for photovoltaic(PV)power stations via a particle swarm optimization(PSO)K-means clustering(KMC)algorithm with passive filter parameter clustering to address the complexities,simulation time cost and convergence problems of detailed PV power station models.First,the amplitude–frequency curves of different filter parameters are analyzed.Based on the results,a grouping parameter set for characterizing the external filter characteristics is established.These parameters are further defined as clustering parameters.A single PV inverter model is then established as a prerequisite foundation.The proposed equivalent method combines the global search capability of PSO with the rapid convergence of KMC,effectively overcoming the tendency of KMC to become trapped in local optima.This approach enhances both clustering accuracy and numerical stability when determining equivalence for PV inverter units.Using the proposed clustering method,both a detailed PV power station model and an equivalent model are developed and compared.Simulation and hardwarein-loop(HIL)results based on the equivalent model verify that the equivalent method accurately represents the dynamic characteristics of PVpower stations and adapts well to different operating conditions.The proposed equivalent modeling method provides an effective analysis tool for future renewable energy integration research. 展开更多

The capability of synthetic cytokinin mimics for in vitro regeneration of plants

Among plant hormones,cytokinins have been extensively studied for over a century due to their central roles in regulating plant development,physiology,and environmental responses.In this study,we chemically synthesized several Cytokinin-Active ingreDients(CADs)and evaluated their effects on the in vitro regeneration of Sansevieria trifasciata and seedling growth of Nicotiana tabacum,comparing their activities with established cytokinins,kinetin and zeatin.Our results show that CADs promote cell division and shoot proliferation in S.trifasciata,with the highest shoot numbers per explant observed at CAD-A(0.9 mg L^(-1)),cycle-iP(0.1 mg L^(-1)),and zeatin(0.3 mg L^(-1)),all significantly different from kinetin(0.3 mg L^(-1))—the previously suggested cytokinin for in vitro shoot proliferation in this plant.CAD-A and CAD-B at 0.9 mg L^(-1)increased leaf number by approximately 4.5,significantly outperforming kinetin at 0.3 mg L^(-1).In tobacco seedlings,CAD-B at 0.3 mg L^(-1)significantly enhanced root number(7.3)comparable to kinetin(6.7)at the same concentration.Overall seedling height increased more than two-fold under both CAD-B and kinetin treatments compared to control plants.The bioactivity of CADs under in vitro conditions closely parallels that of kinetin,supporting their potential as effective cytokinin mimetics.Collectively,these results indicate that synthesized CADs can serve as potent alternatives to natural cytokinins for plant tissue culture and developmental studies,with promising applications in propagation and regeneration protocols. 展开更多

Interaction between Müller cells and microglia aggravates neuroinflammation,resulting in retinal ganglion cell(RGC)death in glaucoma.Here,we investigated how tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)produced by activated microglia mediates the crosstalk between Müller cells and microglia and impacts RGC injury in a chronic ocular hypertension(COH)glaucoma model.In COH retinas,elevated TNF-αinduced the activation of Müller cells and microglia,and recruited microglia to the ganglion cell layer.Co-culture with Müller cells enhanced TNF-α-induced microglial activation,migration,and proliferation.Both in vivo and in vitro experiments confirmed that chemokine C-C motif ligand 2(CCL2),primarily released from Müller cells,mediated the TNF-α-induced effects on microglia in COH retinas.Knockdown of CCL2 attenuated RGC damage and vision loss.Our results demonstrate that TNF-αreleased from microglia induces the secretion of CCL2 from Müller cells,thus inducing microglial activation and migration,exacerbating retinal neuroinflammation and RGC injury in glaucoma. 展开更多

Different from previous attention on the austenization temperature or dwelling time of PH13-8Mo stainless steels,the effect of the cooling rate on the hierarchical microstructure and mechanical properties was revealed.For all of water,oil,air and furnace cooling,there is almost-complete martensite with the favorable hardenability.The increase in cooling rate mainly increases the density of dislocation and residual strain in the as-solution annealed matrix.After aging treatment,the cooling rate dominates the ratio of high-angle grain boundaries(HAGBs)instead of the size of martensite blocks.The ratio of HAGBs continuously increases with the decreased cooling rate,while the width of blocks maintains 2.40-2.49μm.Meanwhile,more reversed austenite distributes at the martensite sub-grain boundaries.By comparison,the increased rate of water cooling contributes to a favorable precipitation of NiAl with fine size and dispersive distribution caused by more accumulated internal defects of vacancies and dislocations.With the decrease of cooling rate,NiAl precipitates exhibits a similar diameter of~7 nm while a larger inter-particle distance of~22 nm.In the case of low cooling rate(oil,air and furnace),the stable precipitation strengthening effect contributes to a high yield strength of~1.3 GPa and ultimate tensile strength of~1.4 GPa.The high-ratio HAGBs,reversed austenite and NiAl precipitates with larger-interparticle distance synergistically improve the impact toughness(V-notched Charpy impact energy of 100-110 J). 展开更多

Pelagic appendicularians,known for their rapid bloom capability,are important secondary producers and play essential roles in marine ecosystems.To assess the environmental adaptation of the most common appendicularian species Oikopleura dioica in Jiaozhou Bay,Shandong,China,its annual variations in abundance and body size were investigated monthly at 12 stations in 2011,and the relationship between somatic growth and gonadal development was compared with previously published laboratory data.Oikopleura dioica exhibited distinct seasonal abundance patterns,peaking in summer and autumn,particularly in the inner bay,reflecting its adaptation to the eutrophic conditions and high food availability.Compared to laboratory results,O.dioica in Jiaozhou Bay exhibited shorter body lengths,smaller gonad volumes,and earlier maturation at reduced body sizes,despite high natural chlorophyll-a concentration,suggesting that factors beyond food availability,such as resource competition and environmental stressors,may limit its growth in natural settings.Correlation analysis indicated that the somatic growth of natural O.dioica was primarily influenced by temperature,while gonadal development was related to chlorophyll-a concentration,and its population abundance was linked to food availability and the abundance of other zooplankton,such as copepods and jellyfish.It was suggested that the growth and recruitment of O.dioica were constrained by resource limitations in natural environments,further exacerbated by interactions with other zooplankton,including predation and competition.This study provides valuable data on the mechanisms underlying bio-environmental interactions and their spatiotemporal variations,offering critical insights into the ecological roles of appendicularians in marine ecosystems. 展开更多
