It is found that the traveling wave is the essential condition of the directed transport. The current is dominated by the traveling wave and varies nonmonotonically with both the angular frequency and the wavelength. At an optimal angular frequency or wavelength, the current can be optimized. The coupling strength and the free length of the spring can locally modulate the current, especially at small angular frequencies. Moreover, the current decreases rapidly with the increase of the noise intensity, indicating the interference effect of noise on the directed transport.展开更多

Especially, root-knot nematodes cause serious crop losses on them. Due to usage oflnfested seeds, parasitic nematodes are increasing from year to year. In our country, so far, many infested hosts of Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid &White, 1919) Chitwood, 1949 were detected but there is no report on investigation on potato. During this study, adult females of root-knot nematodes were obtained via extracting gals of 133 tuber samples, collected potatoes fields in the Marmara region especially Balikesir, Bilecik, Bursa, Canakkale, Edirne, Istanbul, Kirklareli, Kocaeli, Sakarya and Tekirdag provinces during 2007-2008. During identification the species, second stage larvae were taken into consideration as well as genital preparations of adult females. For the identification classical methods were used together with molecular methods. As result, M. incognita was detected, only species detected among the Meloidogyne genus upon the 10 provinces investigated in Edirne province, Bosna village. This is the first report of the infestation of this species potato and also in Marmara Region.展开更多

Although the known facts of the benefits of F & V on health, information on Saudi society following the advised recommendation whether by WHO or local are still unknown. Aim: This cross-sectional study aims to examine the perception of F & V intake among students at Umm Al-Qura University and to assess if they follow these recommendations of F & V locally and internationally. Method: Students from Umm Al-Qura University participated in this study (n = 98, age between 18 - 55). All data were collected using short online survey via Online survey—Survey Monkey in 2019. Result: 55% students were not aware of these recommendations whereas 45% were aware of WHO recommendation. The majority of students 53% have less than two portions a day of F & V. Only 14% have between two to four portions a day. 32% do not eat any portion of F & V daily. 59%, 14%, 5% of students believe that they should have five, seven, more than seven portions a day for being healthy respectively. Maintaining health, reducing the risk for chronic disease and providing essential vitamins and minerals to the body were all reasons why students believe that they should have F & V everyday by 71%. Busy lifestyle, F & V cost, lack of the awareness about the health benefits, dislike of the taste, some F & V spoiled easily were all factors affecting eating F & V daily. Conclusion: University students need educational and nutritional campaigns to spread the awareness about the health benefits of F & V. Most importantly the ministry of health should support those campaigns to increase students’ awareness and build a healthy society with a good habit.展开更多

However, the documentation of ...Background: Employees’ dissatisfaction is as a result of confrontations of two divergent views, compliance with collective labor agreement and the company’s profitability requirements. However, the documentation of internal and external environmental impacts on the employees is poor. Our objective was to study workers’ origin of dissatisfaction from the negative impact of Fludor Benin SA internal and external environment. Population and methods: It was a cross-sectional study, conducted from 11th September 2013 to 08th January 2014, on Fludor Benin SA employees. Data collection was carried out over ten (10) sessions through administration of Focus Group Discussion modules coupled with psychodrama (FGD-psychodrama) and conducted fortnightly. The module was intended for a group of twelve employees per session. It lasted 2 hours and ended with a game comprising a set of sixteen (16) cards. Each participant’s 16-card deck allowed the “player” to identify the likely origin of his dissatisfaction at work. Results: One hundred and twenty (120) employees were expected, but only ninety-nine (99) had participated in the FGD-psychodrama. The rate of participation was 82.5%. The average age of the employees was 35.4 ± 7.4 years, while sex-ratio was 23.75. Average seniority was 9.3 ± 3.2 years. The employees’ robot profile was: 39 (39.39%) passive employees, 18 (18.19%) disappointed employees, 17 (17.17%) unmotivated employees, 14 (14.14%) dedicated to the company but barely recognized and 11 (11.11%) unhappy employees. The reasons for dissatisfaction originated from matrimonial home 25 (25.25%), workplace 23 (23.23%) and use of drugs 11 (11.11%). Seventy-seven 77 (77.78%) employees were satisfied with the FGD-psychodrama modules. Conclusion: FGD-psychodrama may be an effective tool to restore unhealthy corporate atmosphere, help employees to discern the origin of their dissatisfaction and change their perception about stressful situations prevailing in their workplace.展开更多
Objective:To explore the regulatory mechanism of transient receptor potential melastatin-7(TRPM7)in high glucose-induced renal tubular epithelial cell injury.Methods:The expression of TRPM7 in the serum of diabetic ne...Objective:To explore the regulatory mechanism of transient receptor potential melastatin-7(TRPM7)in high glucose-induced renal tubular epithelial cell injury.Methods:The expression of TRPM7 in the serum of diabetic nephropathy patients and high glucose-induced HK-2 cells was detected by RT-qPCR.Then,the TRPM7 interference vector was constructed,and the downstream high mobility group box 1(HMGB1)/Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)signaling pathway proteins were detected.Next,in addition to interference with TRPM7 expression,overexpression of HMGB1 in high glucose-induced HK-2 cells was performed.Cell activity,apoptosis,oxidative stress levels,and inflammation levels were determined by CCK8,TUNEL,Western blotting,immunofluorescence and related kits.Results:TRPM7 expression was upregulated in the serum of diabetic nephropathy patients and high glucose-induced HK-2 cells.Interference with TRPM7 reduced cell damage,epithelial-mesenchymal transition,oxidative stress,and inflammatory response in high glucose-induced HK-2 cells via inhibiting the HMGB1/TLR4 signaling pathway.However,the effects induced by TRPM7 silencing were abrogated by HMGB1 overexpression.Conclusions:Decreased TRPM7 alleviates high glucose-induced renal tubular epithelial cell injury by inhibiting the HMGB1/TLR4 signaling pathway.Further animal experiments and clinical trials are warranted to verify its effect.展开更多
Changes in seaweed biodiversity reflect ecological changes and management of coastal communities.Calatagan Bay is a tourism,agriculture and aquaculture hotspot fronting the Verde Island Passage,touted to be the global...Changes in seaweed biodiversity reflect ecological changes and management of coastal communities.Calatagan Bay is a tourism,agriculture and aquaculture hotspot fronting the Verde Island Passage,touted to be the global center of marine biodiversity.Detection of stressors through monitoring is the key in the proper management of the area.This study surveyed existing seaweed species of the coast,and contrasted it with reported species in the area together with fluctuations in sea surface temperatures for the past two decades,contrasted with the local knowledge and perspectives of local coast-dwellers.Seaweed along the coast were collected from a representative area of 50 km^2 with species identification based on morphology and pigment.Ten species that were previously unreported were found while fourteen previously reported species were no longer observed.Caulerpa,Kappaphycus and Sargassum,all with known market demands,were the dominant genera.Sea surface temperature data from local weather stations and the NOMADs database indicate significant warming events from June 1998 to present,with peak sea surface temperature at 31.9oC.Focused group discussions with local communities indicate increased incidences of ice-ice disease,and issues with the uncontrolled use of fertilizers of neighboring farms contaminating their coastal fronts.展开更多

Background: The increasing prevalence of colorectal cancer(CRC) in China and the paucity of information about relevant expenditure highlight the necessity of better understanding the financial burden and effect of CRC...Background: The increasing prevalence of colorectal cancer(CRC) in China and the paucity of information about relevant expenditure highlight the necessity of better understanding the financial burden and effect of CRC diagnosis and treatment. We performed a survey to quantify the direct medical and non-medical expenditure as well as the resulting financial burden of CRC patients in China.Methods: We conducted a multicenter, cross-sectional survey in 37 tertiary hospitals in 13 provinces across China between 2012 and 2014. Each enrolled patient was interviewed using a structured questionnaire. All expenditure data were inflated to the 2014 Chinese Yuan(CNY; 1 CNY = 0.163 USD). We quantified the overall expenditure and financial burden and by subgroup(hospital type, age at diagnosis, sex, education, occupation, insurance type, household income, clinical stage, pathologic type, and therapeutic regimen). We then performed generalized linear modeling to determine the factors associated with overall expenditure.Results: A total of 2356 patients with a mean age of 57.4 years were included, 57.1 % of whom were men; 13.9% of patients had stage I cancer; and the average previous-year household income was 54,525 CNY.The overall average direct expenditure per patient was estimated to be 67,408 CNY, and the expenditures for stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ disease were 56,099 CNY, 59,952 CNY, 67,292 CNY, and 82,729 CNY, respectively. Non-medical expenditure accounted for 8.3%of the overall expenditure. The 1-year out-of-pocket expenditure of a newly diagnosed patient was 32,649 CNY, which accounted for 59.9% of their previous-year household income and caused 75.0% of families to suffer an unmanageable financial burden. Univariate analysis showed that financial burden and overall expenditure differed in almost all subgroups(P < 0.05), except for sex. Multivariate analysis showed that patients who were treated in specialized hospitals and those who were diagnosed with adenocarcinoma or diagnosed at a later stage were likely to spend more,whereas those with a lower household income and those who underwent surgery spent less(all P < 0.05).Conclusions: For patients in China, direct expenditure for the diagnosis and treatment of CRC seemed catastrophic,and non-medical expenditure was non-ignorable. The financial burden varied among subgroups, especially among patients with different clinical stages of disease, which suggests that, in China, CRC screening might be cost-effective.展开更多

The medical expenditure for the diagnosis and treatment of esophageal cancer in China has not been fully quantified. This study aimed to examine the medical expenditure of Chinese patients with esophageal cancer and the associated trends.Methods: From 2012 to 2014, a hospital-based multicenter retrospective survey was conducted in 37 hospitals in 13 provinces/municipalities across China as a part of the Cancer Screening Program of Urban China. For each esophageal cancer patient diagnosed between 2002 and 2011, clinical information and expense data were extracted by using structured questionnaires. All expense data were reported in Chinese Yuan(CNY; 1 CNY = 0.155 USD) based on the2011 value and inflated using the year-specific health care consumer price index for China.Results: A total of 14,967 esophageal cancer patients were included in the analysis. It was estimated that the overall average expenditure per patient was 38,666 CNY, and an average annual increase of 6.27% was observed from 2002(25,111 CNY) to 2011(46,124 CNY). The average expenditures were 34,460 CNY for stage Ⅰ,39,302 CNY for stage Ⅱ,40,353 CNY for stage Ⅲ, and 37,432 CNY for stage IV diseases(P < 0.01). The expenditure also differed by the therapy type, which was 38,492 CNY for surgery, 27,933 CNY for radiotherapy, and 27,805 CNY for chemotherapy(P < 0.05).Drugs contributed to 45.02% of the overall expenditure.Conclusions: These conservative estimates suggested that medical expenditures for esophageal cancer in China substantially increased in the last 10 years, treatment for early-stage esophageal cancer costs less than that for advanced cases, and spending on drugs continued to account for a considerable proportion of the overall expenditure.展开更多
Worldwide,infections caused by drug‐resistant pathogens constitute a significant challenge threatening therapeutic efforts.According to the World Health Organization(WHO),antimicrobial resistance(AMR)ranks among the ...Worldwide,infections caused by drug‐resistant pathogens constitute a significant challenge threatening therapeutic efforts.According to the World Health Organization(WHO),antimicrobial resistance(AMR)ranks among the top 10 global public health threats.Organisms with a high rate of multiple host adaptivity,significant genetic diversity(multiple lineages),high virulence factors,and genetic exchange have been isolated from various sources(humans,animals,and the environment)even without exposure to prior antibiotics.Till now,the source of AMR and how resistant clones are selected in the environment remain largely elusive,and potential anthropogenic transmission has been reported in different studies.Various drug‐resistant pathogens,lineages,resistant clones,outbreak clusters,plasmid replicates,and genes that play a critical role in resistance dissemination have been identified.Maintenance of certain multidrug‐resistant(MDR)determinants has also been shown to enhance or support the propagation of MDR.So far,significant advances have been made in understanding the burden of AMR.However,overcoming AMR requires a holistic approach,as there is no single approach with sufficient precision to curb the threat.While strengthening AMR surveillance efforts is essential,as we have shown,there is also a need to intensify efforts to strengthen therapeutic interventions,especially in priority regions such as Africa.Herein,we discussed the burden of AMR and the dissemination of AMR in humans,animals,and the environment(non‐medical drivers).We further delved into the big questions on Africa and discussed how therapeutic interventions involving vaccines and other viable biomaterials could be pivotal in reducing the burden of AMR to the barest minimum.展开更多
Traditional methods for proportioning of high-performance concrete(HPC)have certain shortcomings,such as high costs,usage constraints,and nonlinear relationships.Implementing a strategy to optimize the mixtures of HPC...Traditional methods for proportioning of high-performance concrete(HPC)have certain shortcomings,such as high costs,usage constraints,and nonlinear relationships.Implementing a strategy to optimize the mixtures of HPC can minimize design expenses,time spent,and material wastage in the construction sector.Due to HPC’s exceptional qualities,such as high strength(HS),fluidity and resilience,it has been broadly used in construction projects.In this study,we employed Generalized Regression Neural Network(GRNN),Nonlinear AutoRegressive with exogenous inputs(NARX neural network),and Random Forest(RF)models to estimate the Compressive Strength(CS)of HPC in the first scenario.In contrast,the second scenario involved the development of an ensemble model using the Radial Basis Function Neural Network(RBFNN)to detect inferior performance of standalone model combinations.The output variable was the 28 Days CS in MPa,while the input variables included slump(S),water-binder ratio(W/B)%,water content(W)kg/m^(3),fine aggregate ratio(S/a)%,silica fume(SF)%,and superplasticizer(SP)kg/m^(3).An RF model was developed by using R Studio;GRNN and NARX-NN models were developed by using the MATLAB 2019a toolkit;and the pre-and post-processing of data was carried out by using E-Views 12.0.The results indicate that in the first scenario,the Combination M1 of the RF model outperformed other models,with greater prediction accuracy,yielding a PCC of 0.854 and MAPE of 4.349 during the calibration phase.In the second scenario,the ensemble of RF models surpassed all other models,achieving a PCC of 0.961 and MAPE of 0.952 during the calibration phase.Overall,the proposed models demonstrate significant value in predicting the CS of HPC.展开更多

The interaction energy of vip molecules with MIL-53(A1), which corresponds to the desorption in the thermal active process, was explored using ab-initio calculation. As a result of the difference in the interaction energies of H20 and CH2C12 in MIL-53(A1), the site near the p2-OH groups has two potential wells Both experimentally and computationally, MIL-53 presents the preferential adsorption of CH2C12 than H20.展开更多

Considering a double-headed Brownian motor moving with both translational and rotational degrees of freedom,we investigate the directed transport properties of the system in a traveling-wave potential.It is found that...Considering a double-headed Brownian motor moving with both translational and rotational degrees of freedom,we investigate the directed transport properties of the system in a traveling-wave potential.It is found that the traveling wave provides the essential condition of the directed transport for the system,and at an appropriate angular frequency,the positive current can be optimized.A general current reversal appears by modulating the angular frequency of the traveling wave,noise intensity,external driving force and the rod length.By transforming the dynamical equation in traveling-wave potential into that in a tilted potential,the mechanism of current reversal is analyzed.For both cases of Gaussian and Lévy noises,the currents show similar dependence on the parameters.Moreover,the current in the tilted potential shows a typical stochastic resonance effect.The external driving force has also a resonance-like effect on the current in the tilted potential.But the current in the traveling-wave potential exhibits the reverse behaviors of that in the tilted potential.Besides,the currents obviously depend on the stability index of the Lévy noise under certain conditions.展开更多

An oil-in-water nanoemulsion comprising of aluminium ions encapsulated in a chemically modified starch derivative was prepared,characterised and evaluated for the antimicrobial activity.The nanoemulsion was prepared b...An oil-in-water nanoemulsion comprising of aluminium ions encapsulated in a chemically modified starch derivative was prepared,characterised and evaluated for the antimicrobial activity.The nanoemulsion was prepared by emulsion-coacervation method under ultrasonication conditions.Based on the aluminium oxinate chelate of Al3+ions,Al(ox)3,the encapsulation efficiency(92%)was determined by ultraviolet-visible spectrometry measured at 365 nm,and the subsequent drug loading efficiency was also calculated to be 92%.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the formation of carboxymethyl starch,and the degree of substitution was found to be 0.17 by back-titration,using phenolphthalein as an indicator.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)micrographs revealed spherical nano-droplets with a minimum particle diameter of 7 nm that had coalesced to form nano aggregates of variable diameters.There was also an indication of the formation a larger nano cluster with a length of approximately 215 nm.Freeze-thaw cycles revealed that the nanoemulsion was stable.Disc diffusion method was used to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the synthesized aluminum ion nanoemulsion on selected gram-negative bacteria(E.coli and P.aeruginosa)and gram-positive bacteria(B.subtilis and S.aureus).展开更多

文摘F_1-ATPase, a part of ATP synthase, can synthesize and hydrolyze ATP moleculars in which the centralγ-subunit rotates inside the α_3β_3 cylinder.A stochastic four-state mechanochemical coupling model of F_1-ATPase isstudied with the aid of the master equation.In this model, the ATP hydrolysis and synthesis are dependent on ATP,ADP, and Pi concentrations.The effects of ATP concentration, ADP concentration, and the external torque on theoccupation probability of binding-state, the rotation rate and the diffusion coefficient of F_1-ATPase are investigated.Moreover, the results from this model are compared with experiments.The mechanochemical mechanism F_1-ATPase isqualitatively explained by the model.

文摘Considering an elastically coupled Brownian motors system in a two-dimensional traveling-wave potential, we investigate the effects of the angular frequency of the traveling wave, wavelength, coupling strength, free length of the spring, and the noise intensity on the current of the system. It is found that the traveling wave is the essential condition of the directed transport. The current is dominated by the traveling wave and varies nonmonotonically with both the angular frequency and the wavelength. At an optimal angular frequency or wavelength, the current can be optimized. The coupling strength and the free length of the spring can locally modulate the current, especially at small angular frequencies. Moreover, the current decreases rapidly with the increase of the noise intensity, indicating the interference effect of noise on the directed transport.
文摘Potato is the main material of nutrition comes after the wheat and, is subjected to attacks of different plant parasitic nematodes which cause serious damages in our country. Especially, root-knot nematodes cause serious crop losses on them. Due to usage oflnfested seeds, parasitic nematodes are increasing from year to year. In our country, so far, many infested hosts of Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid &White, 1919) Chitwood, 1949 were detected but there is no report on investigation on potato. During this study, adult females of root-knot nematodes were obtained via extracting gals of 133 tuber samples, collected potatoes fields in the Marmara region especially Balikesir, Bilecik, Bursa, Canakkale, Edirne, Istanbul, Kirklareli, Kocaeli, Sakarya and Tekirdag provinces during 2007-2008. During identification the species, second stage larvae were taken into consideration as well as genital preparations of adult females. For the identification classical methods were used together with molecular methods. As result, M. incognita was detected, only species detected among the Meloidogyne genus upon the 10 provinces investigated in Edirne province, Bosna village. This is the first report of the infestation of this species potato and also in Marmara Region.
文摘Introduction: There is a lack of the awareness in the fruit and vegetable (F & V) recommendation among Saudi society. Although the known facts of the benefits of F & V on health, information on Saudi society following the advised recommendation whether by WHO or local are still unknown. Aim: This cross-sectional study aims to examine the perception of F & V intake among students at Umm Al-Qura University and to assess if they follow these recommendations of F & V locally and internationally. Method: Students from Umm Al-Qura University participated in this study (n = 98, age between 18 - 55). All data were collected using short online survey via Online survey—Survey Monkey in 2019. Result: 55% students were not aware of these recommendations whereas 45% were aware of WHO recommendation. The majority of students 53% have less than two portions a day of F & V. Only 14% have between two to four portions a day. 32% do not eat any portion of F & V daily. 59%, 14%, 5% of students believe that they should have five, seven, more than seven portions a day for being healthy respectively. Maintaining health, reducing the risk for chronic disease and providing essential vitamins and minerals to the body were all reasons why students believe that they should have F & V everyday by 71%. Busy lifestyle, F & V cost, lack of the awareness about the health benefits, dislike of the taste, some F & V spoiled easily were all factors affecting eating F & V daily. Conclusion: University students need educational and nutritional campaigns to spread the awareness about the health benefits of F & V. Most importantly the ministry of health should support those campaigns to increase students’ awareness and build a healthy society with a good habit.
文摘Background: Employees’ dissatisfaction is as a result of confrontations of two divergent views, compliance with collective labor agreement and the company’s profitability requirements. However, the documentation of internal and external environmental impacts on the employees is poor. Our objective was to study workers’ origin of dissatisfaction from the negative impact of Fludor Benin SA internal and external environment. Population and methods: It was a cross-sectional study, conducted from 11th September 2013 to 08th January 2014, on Fludor Benin SA employees. Data collection was carried out over ten (10) sessions through administration of Focus Group Discussion modules coupled with psychodrama (FGD-psychodrama) and conducted fortnightly. The module was intended for a group of twelve employees per session. It lasted 2 hours and ended with a game comprising a set of sixteen (16) cards. Each participant’s 16-card deck allowed the “player” to identify the likely origin of his dissatisfaction at work. Results: One hundred and twenty (120) employees were expected, but only ninety-nine (99) had participated in the FGD-psychodrama. The rate of participation was 82.5%. The average age of the employees was 35.4 ± 7.4 years, while sex-ratio was 23.75. Average seniority was 9.3 ± 3.2 years. The employees’ robot profile was: 39 (39.39%) passive employees, 18 (18.19%) disappointed employees, 17 (17.17%) unmotivated employees, 14 (14.14%) dedicated to the company but barely recognized and 11 (11.11%) unhappy employees. The reasons for dissatisfaction originated from matrimonial home 25 (25.25%), workplace 23 (23.23%) and use of drugs 11 (11.11%). Seventy-seven 77 (77.78%) employees were satisfied with the FGD-psychodrama modules. Conclusion: FGD-psychodrama may be an effective tool to restore unhealthy corporate atmosphere, help employees to discern the origin of their dissatisfaction and change their perception about stressful situations prevailing in their workplace.
文摘Objective:To explore the regulatory mechanism of transient receptor potential melastatin-7(TRPM7)in high glucose-induced renal tubular epithelial cell injury.Methods:The expression of TRPM7 in the serum of diabetic nephropathy patients and high glucose-induced HK-2 cells was detected by RT-qPCR.Then,the TRPM7 interference vector was constructed,and the downstream high mobility group box 1(HMGB1)/Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)signaling pathway proteins were detected.Next,in addition to interference with TRPM7 expression,overexpression of HMGB1 in high glucose-induced HK-2 cells was performed.Cell activity,apoptosis,oxidative stress levels,and inflammation levels were determined by CCK8,TUNEL,Western blotting,immunofluorescence and related kits.Results:TRPM7 expression was upregulated in the serum of diabetic nephropathy patients and high glucose-induced HK-2 cells.Interference with TRPM7 reduced cell damage,epithelial-mesenchymal transition,oxidative stress,and inflammatory response in high glucose-induced HK-2 cells via inhibiting the HMGB1/TLR4 signaling pathway.However,the effects induced by TRPM7 silencing were abrogated by HMGB1 overexpression.Conclusions:Decreased TRPM7 alleviates high glucose-induced renal tubular epithelial cell injury by inhibiting the HMGB1/TLR4 signaling pathway.Further animal experiments and clinical trials are warranted to verify its effect.
文摘Changes in seaweed biodiversity reflect ecological changes and management of coastal communities.Calatagan Bay is a tourism,agriculture and aquaculture hotspot fronting the Verde Island Passage,touted to be the global center of marine biodiversity.Detection of stressors through monitoring is the key in the proper management of the area.This study surveyed existing seaweed species of the coast,and contrasted it with reported species in the area together with fluctuations in sea surface temperatures for the past two decades,contrasted with the local knowledge and perspectives of local coast-dwellers.Seaweed along the coast were collected from a representative area of 50 km^2 with species identification based on morphology and pigment.Ten species that were previously unreported were found while fourteen previously reported species were no longer observed.Caulerpa,Kappaphycus and Sargassum,all with known market demands,were the dominant genera.Sea surface temperature data from local weather stations and the NOMADs database indicate significant warming events from June 1998 to present,with peak sea surface temperature at 31.9oC.Focused group discussions with local communities indicate increased incidences of ice-ice disease,and issues with the uncontrolled use of fertilizers of neighboring farms contaminating their coastal fronts.

文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)are gaining the spotlight in research due to their abundant sources,immune privileges,and ability to proliferate and differentiate.These cells provide invaluable resources for stem cell-based therapy and present therapeutic opportunities in cell/tissue regeneration medicine.A growing evidence suggests that,mitochondria transfer from MSCs could rescue tissue degeneration caused by mitochondria damage.Although this emerging tissue regeneration treatment method brings hope for the treatment of mitochondria dysfunction related diseases,the necessary conditions and underlying mechanisms for mitochondrial transfer remain poorly understood.In this review,a large number of mitochondrial transfer phenomena between MSCs and recipient cells are summarized,with particular emphasis on the conditions and potential mechanisms of mitochondrial transfer from MSCs,so as to provide reference for the clinical application of MSCs transformation in the future.
文摘Objective:Explore the feasibility of the high precision accelerometer for measuring the human respiratory displacement.Methods:A wireless acceleration acquisition system with the low power consumption and the high precision was designed with the high precision acceleration sensor ADXL355 as the core device.Based on the frequency characteristics of the breathing motion and the principle that the displacement can be calculated by the acceleration quadratic integration,two displacement measurement algorithms for the quasi-periodic weak motion are designed.Results:The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is effective.The experimental results show that the designed acquisition system and algorithm can calculate the human respiratory displacement.Conclusion:The high precision accelerometer can be used to measure the human respiratory displacement,which provides a new method for the measurement of the human respiratory displacement.

文摘The concept of“prevention before disease”in Buddhism has deep roots in traditional Indian medicine and has been integrated into Buddhist philosophy.The Buddhist philosophy of“prevention before disease”is based on the cultivation of mindfulness through the practice of meditation.This philosophy has been integrated into modern medicine through the development of mindfulness-based interventions,which have been found to be effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety,depression,and chronic pain.The article also discusses the spread of Buddhist philosophy and its“prevention before disease”concept in different regions of the world and the potential benefits of integrating this philosophy into patient care.Here,we summarized the concept of“Prevention before Disease”in Buddhism and its specific content in Buddhist teachings and discussed its application&dissemination status in modern medicine.

文摘Background: The increasing prevalence of colorectal cancer(CRC) in China and the paucity of information about relevant expenditure highlight the necessity of better understanding the financial burden and effect of CRC diagnosis and treatment. We performed a survey to quantify the direct medical and non-medical expenditure as well as the resulting financial burden of CRC patients in China.Methods: We conducted a multicenter, cross-sectional survey in 37 tertiary hospitals in 13 provinces across China between 2012 and 2014. Each enrolled patient was interviewed using a structured questionnaire. All expenditure data were inflated to the 2014 Chinese Yuan(CNY; 1 CNY = 0.163 USD). We quantified the overall expenditure and financial burden and by subgroup(hospital type, age at diagnosis, sex, education, occupation, insurance type, household income, clinical stage, pathologic type, and therapeutic regimen). We then performed generalized linear modeling to determine the factors associated with overall expenditure.Results: A total of 2356 patients with a mean age of 57.4 years were included, 57.1 % of whom were men; 13.9% of patients had stage I cancer; and the average previous-year household income was 54,525 CNY.The overall average direct expenditure per patient was estimated to be 67,408 CNY, and the expenditures for stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ disease were 56,099 CNY, 59,952 CNY, 67,292 CNY, and 82,729 CNY, respectively. Non-medical expenditure accounted for 8.3%of the overall expenditure. The 1-year out-of-pocket expenditure of a newly diagnosed patient was 32,649 CNY, which accounted for 59.9% of their previous-year household income and caused 75.0% of families to suffer an unmanageable financial burden. Univariate analysis showed that financial burden and overall expenditure differed in almost all subgroups(P < 0.05), except for sex. Multivariate analysis showed that patients who were treated in specialized hospitals and those who were diagnosed with adenocarcinoma or diagnosed at a later stage were likely to spend more,whereas those with a lower household income and those who underwent surgery spent less(all P < 0.05).Conclusions: For patients in China, direct expenditure for the diagnosis and treatment of CRC seemed catastrophic,and non-medical expenditure was non-ignorable. The financial burden varied among subgroups, especially among patients with different clinical stages of disease, which suggests that, in China, CRC screening might be cost-effective.

文摘Background: Esophageal cancer is associated with substantial disease burden in China, and data on the economic burden are fundamental for setting priorities in cancer interventions. The medical expenditure for the diagnosis and treatment of esophageal cancer in China has not been fully quantified. This study aimed to examine the medical expenditure of Chinese patients with esophageal cancer and the associated trends.Methods: From 2012 to 2014, a hospital-based multicenter retrospective survey was conducted in 37 hospitals in 13 provinces/municipalities across China as a part of the Cancer Screening Program of Urban China. For each esophageal cancer patient diagnosed between 2002 and 2011, clinical information and expense data were extracted by using structured questionnaires. All expense data were reported in Chinese Yuan(CNY; 1 CNY = 0.155 USD) based on the2011 value and inflated using the year-specific health care consumer price index for China.Results: A total of 14,967 esophageal cancer patients were included in the analysis. It was estimated that the overall average expenditure per patient was 38,666 CNY, and an average annual increase of 6.27% was observed from 2002(25,111 CNY) to 2011(46,124 CNY). The average expenditures were 34,460 CNY for stage Ⅰ,39,302 CNY for stage Ⅱ,40,353 CNY for stage Ⅲ, and 37,432 CNY for stage IV diseases(P < 0.01). The expenditure also differed by the therapy type, which was 38,492 CNY for surgery, 27,933 CNY for radiotherapy, and 27,805 CNY for chemotherapy(P < 0.05).Drugs contributed to 45.02% of the overall expenditure.Conclusions: These conservative estimates suggested that medical expenditures for esophageal cancer in China substantially increased in the last 10 years, treatment for early-stage esophageal cancer costs less than that for advanced cases, and spending on drugs continued to account for a considerable proportion of the overall expenditure.
文摘Worldwide,infections caused by drug‐resistant pathogens constitute a significant challenge threatening therapeutic efforts.According to the World Health Organization(WHO),antimicrobial resistance(AMR)ranks among the top 10 global public health threats.Organisms with a high rate of multiple host adaptivity,significant genetic diversity(multiple lineages),high virulence factors,and genetic exchange have been isolated from various sources(humans,animals,and the environment)even without exposure to prior antibiotics.Till now,the source of AMR and how resistant clones are selected in the environment remain largely elusive,and potential anthropogenic transmission has been reported in different studies.Various drug‐resistant pathogens,lineages,resistant clones,outbreak clusters,plasmid replicates,and genes that play a critical role in resistance dissemination have been identified.Maintenance of certain multidrug‐resistant(MDR)determinants has also been shown to enhance or support the propagation of MDR.So far,significant advances have been made in understanding the burden of AMR.However,overcoming AMR requires a holistic approach,as there is no single approach with sufficient precision to curb the threat.While strengthening AMR surveillance efforts is essential,as we have shown,there is also a need to intensify efforts to strengthen therapeutic interventions,especially in priority regions such as Africa.Herein,we discussed the burden of AMR and the dissemination of AMR in humans,animals,and the environment(non‐medical drivers).We further delved into the big questions on Africa and discussed how therapeutic interventions involving vaccines and other viable biomaterials could be pivotal in reducing the burden of AMR to the barest minimum.
文摘Traditional methods for proportioning of high-performance concrete(HPC)have certain shortcomings,such as high costs,usage constraints,and nonlinear relationships.Implementing a strategy to optimize the mixtures of HPC can minimize design expenses,time spent,and material wastage in the construction sector.Due to HPC’s exceptional qualities,such as high strength(HS),fluidity and resilience,it has been broadly used in construction projects.In this study,we employed Generalized Regression Neural Network(GRNN),Nonlinear AutoRegressive with exogenous inputs(NARX neural network),and Random Forest(RF)models to estimate the Compressive Strength(CS)of HPC in the first scenario.In contrast,the second scenario involved the development of an ensemble model using the Radial Basis Function Neural Network(RBFNN)to detect inferior performance of standalone model combinations.The output variable was the 28 Days CS in MPa,while the input variables included slump(S),water-binder ratio(W/B)%,water content(W)kg/m^(3),fine aggregate ratio(S/a)%,silica fume(SF)%,and superplasticizer(SP)kg/m^(3).An RF model was developed by using R Studio;GRNN and NARX-NN models were developed by using the MATLAB 2019a toolkit;and the pre-and post-processing of data was carried out by using E-Views 12.0.The results indicate that in the first scenario,the Combination M1 of the RF model outperformed other models,with greater prediction accuracy,yielding a PCC of 0.854 and MAPE of 4.349 during the calibration phase.In the second scenario,the ensemble of RF models surpassed all other models,achieving a PCC of 0.961 and MAPE of 0.952 during the calibration phase.Overall,the proposed models demonstrate significant value in predicting the CS of HPC.

文摘Desorption energies of dichloromethane (CH2C12) and water (H20) in a metal-organic framework, MIL-53(A1), were investi- gated by the combination of experimental (differential scanning calorimeter, DSC) and computational (ab-initio calculations) methods. The differences of desorption energy and natural log of the frequency factor of CH2C12 and H20 in MIL-53(A1) were analyzed by a thermo active process using DSC measurements. The interaction energy of vip molecules with MIL-53(A1), which corresponds to the desorption in the thermal active process, was explored using ab-initio calculation. As a result of the difference in the interaction energies of H20 and CH2C12 in MIL-53(A1), the site near the p2-OH groups has two potential wells Both experimentally and computationally, MIL-53 presents the preferential adsorption of CH2C12 than H20.

文摘Hybrid Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems that construct overlay networks structured among superpeers have great potential in that they can give the benefits such as scalability, search speed and network traffic, taking advantages of superpeer-based and the structured P2P systems. In this article, we enhance keyword search in hybrid P2P systems by constructing a tree-based index overlay among directory nodes that maintain indices, according to the load and popularity of a keyword. The mathematical analysis shows that the keyword search based on semi-structured P2P overlay can improve the search performance, reducing the message traffic and maintenance costs.

文摘Considering a double-headed Brownian motor moving with both translational and rotational degrees of freedom,we investigate the directed transport properties of the system in a traveling-wave potential.It is found that the traveling wave provides the essential condition of the directed transport for the system,and at an appropriate angular frequency,the positive current can be optimized.A general current reversal appears by modulating the angular frequency of the traveling wave,noise intensity,external driving force and the rod length.By transforming the dynamical equation in traveling-wave potential into that in a tilted potential,the mechanism of current reversal is analyzed.For both cases of Gaussian and Lévy noises,the currents show similar dependence on the parameters.Moreover,the current in the tilted potential shows a typical stochastic resonance effect.The external driving force has also a resonance-like effect on the current in the tilted potential.But the current in the traveling-wave potential exhibits the reverse behaviors of that in the tilted potential.Besides,the currents obviously depend on the stability index of the Lévy noise under certain conditions.

文摘Using the sea surface temperature and wind anomalies(SSTA and SSWA for short)of the tropical Pacific from January 1970 to December 1989,main spatial patterns of tropical Pacific SSTA and SSWA coupling features in the transform course from the warm phase to the cold phase of El Nino-southern Oscillation(ENSO)cycles are discussed. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)air-sea coupling patterns at the mature stage of El Nino(La Nina)are main spatial ones of tropical Pacific SSWA and SSTA coupling:(2)at the mature stage of El Nino,the interaction of the anticyclonic anomaly wind,generated by the forcing of distinct meridional SSTA gradient in the Northern Hemisphere tropical central Pacific.with the California cold current and SSTA is mainly responsible for weakening of El Nino;(3)the second sea temperature increase along the South American coast in the decaying course of El Nino results from the eastward movement of the weakened positive SSTA in the tropical central-eastern Pacific forced by anomalous west wind stress:(4)La Nina results from the joint effect of Walker circulation,Ekman drift and negative SSTA in the tropical central-eastern Pacific.
