Based on superelastic damping application in structural engineering, the damping characteristics of commercial Ti-50.8Ni(mole fraction, %) alloy have been systematically studied by adjusting frequency of mechanical shock, temperature, stress, strain and number of cycling. The results show that at extremely low frequency mechanical shock at room temperature, the superelastic damping capacity increases with controlled strain, and such capacity of each cycle is greater than 50%. When the frequency of mechanical shock is 0.10.3 Hz, the superelastic damping capacity above room temperature is relatively large at high strain; when the temperature approaches to M_d, the damping begins at low stress. For specimen cycled under 0.5 Hz, above 6% strain mechanical shock at relatively high temperature, further large-strain cycling exhibits more than 35% damping capacity. The superelastic damping of trained specimen is relatively stable at 2050 ℃ and 0.10.5 Hz frequency mechanical shock. 展开更多

Simulating of marble subjected to uni-axial loading using index-parabola damage model

The results of an investigation lead ... The limitations of several existing classical rock damage models were critically appraised. Thereafter, a description of a new model to estimate the response of rock was provided. The results of an investigation lead to the development and confirmation of a new index parabola damage model. The new model is divided into two parts, fictitious damage and real damage and bordered by the critical damage point. In fictitious damage, the damage variable follows the index distribution, while in the real damage a parabolic distribution is used. Thus, the so called index parabola damage model is derived. The proposed damage model is applied to simulate the damage procedure of marble under uni axial loading. The results of the tests show that the proposed model is in excellent agreement with experimental data, in particular the nonlinear characteristic of rock deformation is adequately represented. Thus, the facilities can be built on a faster, cheaper, and higher quality base. Consequently, it will enhance the owner’s competitiveness. Due to the high cost and lengthy duration of mega-construction projects in recent years, Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contracts are getting popular in delivering constructed projects in the public sector. With BOT, the public owners are able to focus on the effectiveness of fair resource allocation as well as bring the efficiency of private enterprise into governmental operations. This paper uses Taiwan High Speed Rail project to exemplify the BOT method in executing the constructed projects in the chain of real estate management processes. The paper explains the reasons for building HSR and adopting BOT approach. The detail of the HSR project and the feasibility analysis of the project will be presented in this paper. The feasibility analysis comprises the comparisons of different transportation means, the financial analysis, and other benefits from HSR. Finally, conclusions will be drawn. 展开更多

Based on the demand on efficient axial-flow blast with low noise and energy saving, a blade was designed through the application of the unequal work distribution principle and the exponential twisted camber was used to shape blades. Then, the hydrodynamic characteristics of blades were studied and the strengths and vibrations of blades and hydro-dynamic noise of blast were analyzed. Furthermore, the software of optimization design of axial-flow blast was developed. Finally, the HMF-T40No.20 axial-flow blast used in large textile conditioner system of cotton spinning industry was designed, which could meet the required total safety and environmental requirements as the corresponding test demonstrates.
