The ongoing need for better fuel economy and lower exhaust pollution of vehicles has increased the employment of electric power steering(EPS)in automotives.Optimal design of EPS for a product family reduces the development and fabrication costs significantly.In this paper,the TOPSIS method along with the NSGA-Ⅱis employed to find an optimum family of EPS for an automotive platform.A multi-objective optimization problem is defined considering road feel,steering portability,RMS of Ackerman error,and product family penalty function(PFPF)as the conflicting objective functions.The results for the single objective optimization problems and the ones for the multi-objective optimization problem,as well as two suggested trade-off design points are presented,compared and discussed.For the two suggested points,performance at one objective function is deteriorated by about 1%,while the commonality is increased by 20%–40%,which shows the effectiveness of the proposed method in first finding the non-dominated design points and then selecting the trade-off among the obtained points.The results indicate that the obtained trade-off points have superior performance within the product family with maximum number of common parts. 展开更多

In order to reduce both the weight of vehicles and the damage of occupants in a crash event simultaneously, it is necessary to perform a multi-objective optimal design of the automotive energy absorbing components. Modified non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II(NSGA II) was used for multi-objective optimization of automotive S-rail considering absorbed energy(E), peak crushing force(Fmax) and mass of the structure(W) as three conflicting objective functions. In the multi-objective optimization problem(MOP), E and Fmax are defined by polynomial models extracted using the software GEvo M based on train and test data obtained from numerical simulation of quasi-static crushing of the S-rail using ABAQUS. Finally, the nearest to ideal point(NIP)method and technique for ordering preferences by similarity to ideal solution(TOPSIS) method are used to find the some trade-off optimum design points from all non-dominated optimum design points represented by the Pareto fronts. Results represent that the optimum design point obtained from TOPSIS method exhibits better trade-off in comparison with that of optimum design point obtained from NIP method. 展开更多

Optimization of an automotive body structure faces the difficulty of having too many design variables and a too large design search space. A simplified model of body-in-prime(BIP) can solve this difficulty by reducing the number of design variables. In this study, to achieve lighter weight and higher stiffness, the simplified model of BIP was developed and combined with an optimization procedure;consequently, optimal designs of automotive body B-pillar were produced. B-pillar was divided into four quarters and each quarter was modelled by one simplified beam. In the optimization procedure, depth, width, and thickness of the simplified beams were considered as the design variables.Weight, bending and torsional stiffness were also considered as objective functions. The optimization procedure is composed of six stages: designing the experiments, calculating grey relational grade, calculating signal-to noise ratio,finding an optimum design using Taguchi grey relational analysis, performing sensitivity analysis using analysis of variance(ANOVA) and performing non-dominated sorting and multi-criteria decision making. The results show that the width of lower B-pillar has the highest effect(about 55%) and the obtained optimum design point could reduce the weight of B-pillar by about 40% without reducing the BIP stiffness by more than 1.47%. 展开更多

To prepare a conductive polymer actuator with decent performance,a self-built experimental platform for the preparation of polypyrrole film is employed.One of the essential goals is to examine the mechanical characteristics of the actuator in the presence of various combinations of process parameters,combined with the orthogonal test method of"four factors and three levels".The bending and sensing characteristics of actuators of various sizes are methodically examined using a self-made bending polypyrrole actuator.The functional relationship between the bending displacement and the output voltage signal is established by studying the characteristics of the actuator sensor subjected to various degrees of bending.The experimental results reveal that the bending displacement of the actuator tip almost exhibits a linear variation as a function of length and width.When the voltage reaches 0.8 V,the bending speed of the actuator tends to be stable.Finally,the mechanical properties of the self-assembled polypyrrole actuator are verified by the design and fabrication of the microgripper. 展开更多

Selective hydrogenation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural triggered by a high Lewis acidic Ni-based transition metal carbide catalyst 被引量:1

The high-efficiency conversion of biomass resources to biofuels has attracted widespread attention, and the active sites and synergistic effect of catalysts significantly impact their surface arrangement and electronic structure. Here, a nickel-based transition metal carbide catalyst(Ni/TMC) with high Lewis acidity was prepared by self-assembly of transition metal carbide(TMC) and nickel, which exhibited excellent performance on synergistic hydrogenation and hydrogenolysis of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF) into liquid biofuel 2,5-dimethylfuran(DMF).Notably, Ni/WC with the highest Lewis acidity(4728.3 μmol g^(-1)) can achieve 100% conversion of HMF to 97.6% yield of DMF, with a turnover frequency of up to 46.5 h^(-1). The characterization results demonstrate that the rich Lewis acid sites yielded by the synergistic effect between Ni species and TMC are beneficial for the C=O hydrogenation and C–O cleavage, thereby accelerating the process of hydrodeoxygenation(HDO). Besides, a kinetic model for the HDO of HMF to DMF process has been established based on the experimental results, which elucidated a significant correlation between the measured and the predicted data(R^(2)> 0.97). Corresponding to the adsorption configuration of Ni/WC and substrate determined by in-situ FTIR characterization, this study provides a novel insight into the selective conversion of HMF process for functional biofuel and bio-chemicals. 展开更多

Current studies on carbon nanotube (CNT) size effects predominantly employ Eringen’s differential nonlocal model, which is widely recognized as ill-suited for bounded domains. This paper investigates the free vibration of multi-walled CNTs (MWCNTs) with mathematically well-posed two-phase strain-driven and stress-driven nonlocal integral models incorporating the bi-Helmholtz kernel. The van der Waals (vdW) forces coupling MWCNT layers are similarly modeled as size-dependent via the bi-Helmholtz two-phase nonlocal integral framework. Critically, conventional pure strain-driven or stress-driven formulations become over-constrained when nonlocal vdW interactions are considered. The two-phase strategy resolves this limitation by enabling consistent coupling. Each bi-Helmholtz integral constitutive equation is equivalently transformed into a differential form requiring four additional constitutive boundary conditions (CBCs). The numerical solutions are obtained with the generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) for these coupled higher-order equations. The parametric studies on double-walled CNTs (DWCNTs) and triple-walled CNTs (TWCNTs) elucidate the nonlocal effects predicted by both formulations. Additionally, the influence of nonlocal parameters within vdW forces is systematically evaluated to comprehensively characterize the size effects in MWCNTs. 展开更多

Two cross⁃sectional configurations of thin⁃walled square tubes partially filled with lightweight metallic foams are proposed,and termed as double⁃cell configuration partially filled with foam(DC⁃PF)and double⁃tube configuration partially filled with foam(DT⁃PF),respectively.The bending crashworthiness is investigated based on three⁃point bending tests using finite element ABAQUS/Explicit code.The two key mechanical indicators including Crash Load Efficiency(CLE)and Specific Energy Absorption(SEA)are introduced to evaluate the effect of foams in comparison with empty square tubes and fully filled square tubes.The numerical results show that the two partially filled configurations,especially DT⁃PF,display dramatically excellent bending crashworthiness compared with empty and fully filled square tubes.There exists a foam density threshold,beyond which the CLE of DT⁃PF achieves a maximum constant.In addition,there seems to be another foam density threshold,beyond which the SEA of DT⁃PF gets to the maximum value.It is also shown that the foam density threshold corresponding to the maximum SEA varies with the thickness of thin⁃walled square tubes. 展开更多

A356/6061 bimetallic specimens were prepared by liquid-solid compound casting.The effects of various casting conditions on the interfacial microstructure and mechanical properties of the bimetallic specimens were studied.Results demonstrate that a combination of chemical zinc deposition and electroplating can create a dense protective layer on the surface of the 6061 aluminum bar,achieving complete metallurgical bonding at the bimetallic interface.The interfacial microstructure is primarily characterized by equiaxed grain formation,with eutectic silicon distributed along the grain boundaries.Notably,the thickness of the zinc plating layer does not significantly influence the microstructure of the interface transition layer.Pouring temperature is critical for establishing metallurgical bonding at the bimetallic interface,with the thickness of the transition layer increasing as the pouring temperature rises.The hardness of the bimetallic composite interface falls between the hardness values of the two constituent materials.While the thickness of the galvanized layer has a minimal effect on interfacial shear strength,there is a slight decrease in shear strength with increasing pouring temperature,with a maximum value recorded at 68 MPa. 展开更多

The indiscriminate discharge of industrial wastewater and oil leakage accidents cause serious water pollution and pose threats to aquatic ecosystems and sanitary environments.The oily wastewater system is complex and most membrane materials cannot separate various oil-water mixtures.S erious membrane pollution would cause a decrease in separation flux.We proposed a pre-identified organic hydrogel surface prepared by micro-nano manufacturing technology for selective oil/water separation with ultra-high separating flux.Stimulated by water,the prepared surface is superhydrophilic-underwater superoleophobic,allowing water to pass through,and stimulated by oil,the prepared surface is superoleophilic-underoil superhydrophobic,allowing oil to pass through.Thus,based on the special solvent-responsive property,the prepared surface has a pre-identified function for water and oil,and could achieve the capture of oil droplets in water and water droplets in oil.In addition,the surface maintains an ultra-high separating efficiency and flux of about 99.85%and 17750 L·m^(-2)·h^(-1),and even after continuous cycles without cleaning,it could keep 99.1%and 16000 L·m^(-2)·h^(-1)due to the excellent anti-fouling ability.This study provides new ideas and methods for designing intelligent oil-water separation devices,and further guidance for achieving on-demand oily wastewater treatment. 展开更多

The intake system of a racing engine plays a crucial role in determining its performance,particularly in terms of volumetric efficiency,power output,and throttle response.According to Formula Society of Automotive Engineers(FSAE)regulations,the engine intake systemmust incorporate a 20mmdiameter flow-limiting valve within the intake manifold.This restriction significantly reduces the airflow into the engine,leading to a substantial drop in power output.To mitigate this limitation,the intake system requires a redesign.In this study,theoretical calculations and one-dimensional thermodynamic simulations are employed to determine the optimal parameters for the intake system.A numerical simulation of the intake system’s flow field is then conducted to refine its structure and layout.Finally,experiments are performed on an engine equipped with the optimized intake system,and its feasibility is evaluated based on experimental results.Thefindings indicate that the maximumengine torque increases from56.36 to 59.91 N⋅m,while the maximum power output rises from 59.16 to 63.94 kW.To further enhance performance and adaptability across different competitions,a variable-length intakemanifold control system is also designed,improving both power delivery and overall operational stability of the racing car. 展开更多

In order to reveal the cavitation erosion mechanisms of Fe_(50)Mn_(30)Co_(10)Cr_(10)coating prepared by laser melting deposition(LMD)technique,the phase composition evolution,microstructure,microhardness,cavitation erosion resistance and failure mechanisms were investigated.The results demonstrate that the amount of martensite HCPεphase of the coating surface increased by a factor of 2.43,and the microhardness increased from HV 270 to HV 410 after 20 h of cavitation erosion test in distilled water.The cumulative volume loss of the coating was approximately 55%less than that of AlCoCrxCuFe(x=2.0),and the cumulative mean depth of erosion(MDE)was 9%that of FeCoCrAlNiTix(x=2.0).The surface strength and plasticity of the coating were further strengthened in the process of cavitation erosion due to the back stress strengthening and work hardening mechanism caused by the heterogeneous structure,which effectively improved the cavitation erosion resistance of the coating. 展开更多

Effect of Fin Spacing on Frost Growth and Airflow Dynamics in ASHP Evaporators

Frost accumulation on the evaporator fins of air source heat pumps(ASHPs)severely degrades heat transfer performance and overall system efficiency.To address this,the present study employs computational fluid dynamics(CFD)to investigate how fin spacing influences frosting behavior,emphasizing the coupled evolution of frost thickness,density,airflow,and temperature distribution within fin channels.Results reveal that fin spacing is a key parameter governing both the extent and rate of frost growth.Wider fin spacing enhances frost accumulation,with a final frost mass of 6.41 g at 12 mm,about 71.8%higher than at 4 mm.In contrast,narrower spacing suppresses frost formation by accelerating airflow.The frost layer exhibits a distinct two-stage growth pattern:at 12 mm spacing,the early-stage average thickness growth rate reaches 0.021 mm/min,nearly 4.3 times that at 4 mm.Frost density follows similar initial trends across different spacings but diverges later due to thermal resistance and airflow variations. 展开更多

Automated detection of multi-type defects of ultrasonic TFM images for aeroengine casing rings with complex sections based on deep learning

The manufacturing processes of casing rings are prone to multi-type defects such as holes,cracks,and porosity,so ultrasonic testing is vital for the quality of aeroengine.Conventional ultrasonic testing requires manual analysis,which is susceptible to human omission,inconsistent results,and time-consumption.In this paper,a method for automated detection of defects is proposed for the ultrasonic Total Focusing Method(TFM)inspection of casing rings based on deep learning.First,the original datasets of defect images are established,and the Mask R-CNN is used to increase the number of defects in a single image.Then,the YOLOX-S-improved lightweight model is proposed,and the feature extraction network is replaced by Faster Net to reduce redundant computations.The Super-Resolution Generative Adversarial Network(SRGAN)and Convolutional Block Attention Module(CBAM)are integrated to improve the identification precision.Finally,a new test dataset is created by ultrasonic TFM inspection of an aeroengine casing ring.The results show that the mean of Average Precision(m AP)of the YOLOX-S-improved model reaches 99.17%,and the corresponding speed reaches 77.6 FPS.This study indicates that the YOLOX-S-improved model performs better than conventional object detection models.And the generalization ability of the proposed model is verified by ultrasonic B-scan images. 展开更多
