All of them play important role for the late Cretaceous evolution of the southern Neotethys. The spatial and temporal relations of these units suggest the progressive development of coeval magmatism and thrusting during the late Cretaceous northward subduction/accretion. Our new U-Pb zircon data from the rhyolitic rocks of the wide-spread volcanic arc unit show ages of (83.1 ± 2.2)-(74.6 ± 4.4) Ma. Comparison of the ophiolites, the volcanic arc units and the granitoids suggest following late Cretaceous geological evolution. The ophiolites formed in a suprasubduction zone (SSZ) setting as a result of northward intra-oceanic subduction. A wide-spread island-arc tholeiitic volcanic unit developed on the top of the SSZ-type crust during 83 75 Ma. Related to regional plate convergence, northward under-thrusting of SSZ-type ophiolites and volcanic arc units was initiated beneath the Tauride platform (Malatya-Keban) and followed by the intrusion of I-type calc-alkaline volcanic arc granitoids during 84 82 Ma. New U-Pb ages from the arc-related volcanic-sedimentary unit and granitoids indicate that under-thrusting of ophiolites together with the arc-related units beneath the Malatya-Keban platform took place soon after the initiation of the volcanic arc on the top of the SSZ- type crust. Then the arc-related volcanic-sedimentary unit continued its development and lasted at - 75 Ma until the deposition of the late Campanian-Maastrichtian shallow marine limestone. The subduction trench eventually collided with the Bitlis-Pfitfirge massif giving rise to HP-LT meta- morphism of the Bitlis massif. Although the development of the volcanic arc units and the granitoids were coeval at the initial stage of the subduction/accretion both tectono-magmatic units were genetically different from each other.展开更多

It highlights the developments that have made it possible for satellites communication to form a competitive alternative for terrestrial broadband internet services. We motivate discussions on ways and approaches to ensure terrestrial mobile operators construct effective strategy in integrating and working with the newcomers for interconnecting their terrestrial nodes with those of the satellite service providers. We discuss some technology and business perspectives for a healthy co-existence, and postulate that customers’ finances (price consideration) and perception of quality of experience and satisfaction may be the battleground for satellites and terrestrial service providers. Finally, it is concluded that, in the history of human endeavor, smart and effective cooperation has always been the best strategy to fight extinction.展开更多

It covers the technological advances in connected smart healthcare, including the roles of artificial intelligence, machine learning, 5G and IoT platforms, and other enabling technologies. It also presents the challenges and potential risks that could arise from delivering connected smart healthcare services. Healthcare delivery is witnessing revolutions engineered by the developments in mobile connectivity and the plethora of platforms, applications, sensors, devices, and equipment that go along with it. Human society is evolving fast in response to these technological developments, which are also pushing the connectivity-providing sector to create and adopt new waves of network technologies. Consequently, new communications technologies have been introduced into the healthcare system and many novel applications have been developed to make it easier for sharing data in various forms and volumes within health-related services. These applications have also made it possible for telemedicine to be effectively adopted. This paper provides an overview of some of the recent developments within the space of mobile connectivity and telemedicine.展开更多

These hazards usually cannot be prevented by current mitigating measures, thus, it becomes more and more important to develop a precise technique for the risk assessment of earthquake-induced failures in the mountainous area. The application of discrimination analysis method is proved to be successful and effective in the prediction of earthquake-triggered landslides and slope failures in the region of Imokawa Basin in Japan. Discriminant score can be used to assess the relative risk of slope failures, as the score increases, the possibility of slope failures occurrence increases accordingly. At the same time, the variables in the judgement formula, such as slope gradient, slope curvature and seismic peak ground acceleration, are easy to obtain. This advantage makes this method more practical and manipulable than others at present. In order to apply this method more effectively, there are still several problems to resolve.展开更多
