This paper systematically introduces and reviews a scientific exploration of reliability called the belief reliability.Beginning with the origin of reliability engineering,the problems of present theories for reliabil...This paper systematically introduces and reviews a scientific exploration of reliability called the belief reliability.Beginning with the origin of reliability engineering,the problems of present theories for reliability engineering are summarized as a query,a dilemma,and a puzzle.Then,through philosophical reflection,we introduce the theoretical solutions given by belief reliability theory,including scientific principles,basic equations,reliability science experiments,and mathematical measures.The basic methods and technologies of belief reliability,namely,belief reliability analysis,function-oriented belief reliability design,belief reliability evaluation,and several newly developed methods and technologies are sequentially elaborated and overviewed.Based on the above investigations,we summarize the significance of belief reliability theory and make some prospects about future research,aiming to promote the development of reliability science and engineering.展开更多
Spatial variability of soil properties imposes a challenge for practical analysis and design in geotechnical engineering.The latter is particularly true for slope stability assessment,where the effects of uncertainty ...Spatial variability of soil properties imposes a challenge for practical analysis and design in geotechnical engineering.The latter is particularly true for slope stability assessment,where the effects of uncertainty are synthesized in the so-called probability of failure.This probability quantifies the reliability of a slope and its numerical calculation is usually quite involved from a numerical viewpoint.In view of this issue,this paper proposes an approach for failure probability assessment based on Latinized partially stratified sampling and maximum entropy distribution with fractional moments.The spatial variability of geotechnical properties is represented by means of random fields and the Karhunen-Loève expansion.Then,failure probabilities are estimated employing maximum entropy distribution with fractional moments.The application of the proposed approach is examined with two examples:a case study of an undrained slope and a case study of a slope with cross-correlated random fields of strength parameters under a drained slope.The results show that the proposed approach has excellent accuracy and high efficiency,and it can be applied straightforwardly to similar geotechnical engineering problems.展开更多
Seepage refers to the flow of water through porous materials.This phenomenon has a crucial role in dam,slope,excavation,tunnel,and well design.Performing seepage analysis usually is a challenging task,as one must cope...Seepage refers to the flow of water through porous materials.This phenomenon has a crucial role in dam,slope,excavation,tunnel,and well design.Performing seepage analysis usually is a challenging task,as one must cope with the uncertainty associated with the parameters such as the hydraulic conductivity in the horizontal and vertical directions that drive this phenomenon.However,at the same time,the data on horizontal and vertical hydraulic conductivities are typically scarce in spatial resolution.In this context,so-called non-traditional approaches for uncertainty quantification(such as intervals and fuzzy variables)offer an interesting alternative to classical probabilistic methods,since they have been shown to be quite effective when limited information on the governing parameters of a phenomenon is available.Therefore,the main contribution of this study is the development of a framework for conducting seepage analysis in saturated soils,where uncertainty associated with hydraulic conductivity is characterized using fuzzy fields.This method to characterize uncertainty extends interval fields towards the domain of fuzzy numbers.In fact,it is illustrated that fuzzy fields are an effective tool for capturing uncertainties with a spatial component,since they allow one to account for available physical measurements.A case study in confined saturated soil shows that with the proposed framework,it is possible to quantify the uncertainty associated with seepage flow,exit gradient,and uplift force effectively.展开更多
Recovery is a crucial supporting process for carrier aircraft,where a reasonable landing scheduling is expected to guide the fleet landing safely and quickly.Currently,there is little research on this topic,and most o...Recovery is a crucial supporting process for carrier aircraft,where a reasonable landing scheduling is expected to guide the fleet landing safely and quickly.Currently,there is little research on this topic,and most of it neglects potential influence factors,leaving the corresponding supporting efficiency questionable.In this paper,we study the landing scheduling problem for carrier aircraft considering the effects of bolting and aerial refueling.Based on the analysis of recovery mode involving the above factors,two types of primary constraints(i.e.,fuel constraint and wake interval constraint)are first described.Then,taking the landing sequencing as decision variables,a combinatorial optimization model with a compound objective function is formulated.Aiming at an efficient solution,an improved firefly algorithm is designed by integrating multiple evolutionary operators.In addition,a dynamic replanning mechanism is introduced to deal with special situations(i.e.,the occurrence of bolting and fuel shortage),where the high efficiency of the designed algorithm facilitates the online scheduling adjustment within seconds.Finally,numerical simulations with sufficient and insufficient fuel cases are both carried out,highlighting the necessity to consider bolting and aerial refueling during the planning procedure.Simulation results reveal that a higher bolting probability,as well as extra aerial refueling operations caused by fuel shortage,will lead to longer recovery complete time.Meanwhile,due to the strong optimum-seeking capability and solution efficiency of the improved algorithm,adaptive scheduling can be generated within milliseconds to deal with special situations,significantly improving the safety and efficiency of the recovery process.An animation is accessible at bilibili.com/video/BV1QprKY2EwD.展开更多

For good efficiency, based on the ideas that directional sampling reduces dimensionality and importance sampling focuses on the domain contributing to failure probability, the joint probability density function of importance sampling is constructed, and the sampling center is moved to MPP to ensure that more random sample points draw belong to the failure domain and the simulation efficiency is improved. However, the existing mathematical theories cannot simultaneously process the above reliability data of multiple types, and thus imprecise probability theory is introduced. Imprecise probability theory can simultaneously process multiple reliability data by quantifying multiple uncertainties(stochastic uncertainty,fuzzy uncertainty, epistemic uncertainty, etc.) together. Although imprecise probability theory has so many advantages, the existing natural extension models are complex and the computation result is imprecise. Therefore,they need some improvement for the better application of reliability engineering. To characterize the web operational profile precisely, it should be realized that the workload of a web server is normally non-homogeneous and often observed with the pattern of random impulsive shocks. A web software reliability model with random im- pulsive shocks and its statistical analysis method are developed. In the proposed model, the web server workload is characterized by a geometric Brownian motion process. Diseases in tea trees can result in significant losses in both the quality and quantity of tea production.Regular monitoring can help to prevent the occurrence of large-scale diseases in tea plantations.However,existi...Diseases in tea trees can result in significant losses in both the quality and quantity of tea production.Regular monitoring can help to prevent the occurrence of large-scale diseases in tea plantations.However,existingmethods face challenges such as a high number of parameters and low recognition accuracy,which hinders their application in tea plantation monitoring equipment.This paper presents a lightweight I-MobileNetV2 model for identifying diseases in tea leaves,to address these challenges.The proposed method first embeds a Coordinate Attention(CA)module into the originalMobileNetV2 network,enabling the model to locate disease regions accurately.Secondly,a Multi-branch Parallel Convolution(MPC)module is employed to extract disease features across multiple scales,improving themodel’s adaptability to different disease scales.Finally,the AutoML for Model Compression(AMC)is used to compress themodel and reduce computational complexity.Experimental results indicate that our proposed algorithm attains an average accuracy of 96.12%on our self-built tea leaf disease dataset,surpassing the original MobileNetV2 by 1.91%.Furthermore,the number of model parameters have been reduced by 40%,making itmore suitable for practical application in tea plantation environments.展开更多

In order to quantitatively measure the contributions of input variables to the system reliability, a global sensitivity index is proposed, the properties of which are also discussed. Then the proposed index is tested with an aeronautical hydraulic pipeline system, which is under the excitation of pump vibration and at a risk of resonance failure. Sensitivity results under different failure criteria and variation coefficients are obtained and studied, from which significant and insignificant input variables can be identified.The proposed method provides a relatively new insight for anti-resonance design of engineering structures.展开更多
Titanium cermets were successfully synthesized on the surface of biomedical grade titanium alloys by using sequential carburization method. The mechanical properties such as hardness, fracture toughness and plasticity...Titanium cermets were successfully synthesized on the surface of biomedical grade titanium alloys by using sequential carburization method. The mechanical properties such as hardness, fracture toughness and plasticity were measured to estimate the potential application of titanium cermets. The results show that after carburization the surface hardness of titanium cermets was 778 HV, with a significant improvement of 128% compared with that of titanium alloys. In addition, the fracture toughness of titanium cermets was 21.5 × 10^6 Pa.m^1/2, much higher than that of other ceramics. Furthermore, the analysis of the loading-unloading curve in the nanoindentation test also indicates that the plasticity of titanium cermet reached 32.1%, a relatively high value which illustrates the combination of the metal and ceramics properties. The results suggest that sequential carburization should be an efficient way to produce titanium cermets with hard surface, high toughness and plasticity.展开更多

However,the mechanisms through which textured patterns and texturing methods prove beneficial remains unclear. To address this issue,the tribological system of the cylinder liner?piston ring(CLPR) is investigated in this work. Two types of surface textures(Micro concave,Micro V?groove) are processed on the cylinder specimen using di erent processing methods. Comparative study on the friction coe cients,worn surface texture features and oil film characteristics are performed. The results demonstrate that the processing method of surface texture a ect the performance of the CLPR pairs under the specific testing conditions. In addition the micro V?groove processed by CNCPM is more favorable for improving the wear performances at the low load,while the micro?con?cave processed by CE is more favorable for improving the wear performances at the high load. Wear state monitoring becomes the bottle-neck of CBM due to the lack of on-line information acquiring means. The wear mechanism judgment with characteristic wear debris has been widely adopted in off-line wear analysis; however, on-line wear mechanism characterization remains a big problem. In this paper, the wear mechanism identification via on-line ferrograph images is studied. To obtain isolated wear debris in an on-line ferrograph image, the deposition mechanism of wear debris in on-line ferrograph sensor is studied. The study result shows wear debris chain is the main morphology due to local magnetic field around the deposited wear debris. Accordingly, an improved sampling route for on-line wear debris deposition is designed with focus on the self-adjustment deposition time. As a result, isolated wear debris can be obtained in an on-line image, which facilitates the feature extraction of characteristic wear debris. By referring to the knowledge of analytical ferrograph, four dimensionless morphological features, including equivalent dimension, length-width ratio, shape factor, and contour fractal dimension of characteristic wear debris are extracted for distinguishing four typical wear mechanisms including normal, cutting, fatigue, and severe sliding wear. Furthermore, a feed-forward neural network is adopted to construct an automatic wear mechanism identification model. By training with the samples from analytical ferrograph, the model might identify some typical characteristic wear debris in an on-line ferrograph image. This paper performs a meaningful exploratory for on-line wear mechanism analysis, and the obtained results will provide a feasible way for on-line wear state monitoring.展开更多

In order to investigate the influence of normal load and sliding speed on the frictional properties of skin and its possible mechanism, tests were carded out on a multi-specimen friction tester. When the normal load increases from 0.1 N to 0.9 N, normal displacement and the friction coefficient of skin increase. The friction coefficient is dependent on the load, indicating that both adhesion and deformation contribute to the friction behaviour. The deformation friction was interpreted using the plough model of friction. When sliding speed increases from 0.5 mm·s^-1 to 4 mm·s^-1, the friction coefficient increases and "stick-slip" phenomena increase, indicating that hysteretic friction contributes to the friction. The hysteretic friction was in- terpreted using schematic of energy translation during the rigid spherical probe sliding on the soft skin surface, which provides an explanation for the influence of the sliding speed on the frictional characteristics of the skin.展开更多

For good efficiency, based on the ideas that directional sampling reduces dimensionality and importance sampling focuses on the domain contributing to failure probability, the joint probability density function of importance sampling is constructed, and the sampling center is moved to MPP to ensure that more random sample points draw belong to the failure domain and the simulation efficiency is improved. Then the numerical example of initiating explosive devices for rocket booster explosive bolts demonstrates the applicability, versatility and accuracy of the approach compared with other reliability simulation algorithm.

文摘This paper focuses on the issue of reliability and global sensitivity analysis for an airplane slat mechanism considering the uncertainties in the wear process of mechanical components.First,the multi-body kinematic model of the slat mechanism is built in the ADAMS software.The geometrical sizes of the roller wheels after wear degradation are considered as input variables and the angle the slat should turn is considered as the output response.To accurately identify the influential roller wheels to the reliability and robustness of the slat mechanism,the failure probability based sensitivity and variance-based sensitivity indices are introduced.Comprehensive analysis of the results have shown that the reliability analysis and global sensitivity theory can help engineers find significant parts by their contributions,thus provide guidance for mechanical design and maintenance.

文摘Small sample size problem is one of the main problems that heavy numerical control(NC) machine tools encounter in their reliability assessment. In order to deal with the small sample size problem, many indirect reliability data such as reliability data of similar products, expert opinion, and engineers' experience are used in reliability assessment. However, the existing mathematical theories cannot simultaneously process the above reliability data of multiple types, and thus imprecise probability theory is introduced. Imprecise probability theory can simultaneously process multiple reliability data by quantifying multiple uncertainties(stochastic uncertainty,fuzzy uncertainty, epistemic uncertainty, etc.) together. Although imprecise probability theory has so many advantages, the existing natural extension models are complex and the computation result is imprecise. Therefore,they need some improvement for the better application of reliability engineering. This paper proposes an improved imprecise reliability assessment method by introducing empirical probability distributions to natural extension model, and the improved natural extension model is applied to the reliability assessment of heavy NC machine tool spindle to illustrate its effectiveness.

文摘The structure and the production process for flying shear machine are introduced first.Then,a quintic polynomial is applied to the design of an electronic cam system for the rotary knife axis in short materials cutting.The dimensionless equation for a quintic polynomial cam curve is deduced.Finally,the curve is plotted with the cam constructor integrated into Siemens engineering development software SCOUT and it is tested with a laboratory platform,which consists of a motion controller SIMOTION and motor drivers SINAMICS S120.The results show that the running stability of the flying shear machine and the position control accuracy of the rotary knife can be effectively improved by using the curve designed in this paper.

文摘As the web-server based business is rapidly developed and popularized, how to evaluate and improve the reliability of web-servers has been extremely important. Although a large num- ber of software reliability growth models (SRGMs), including those combined with multiple change-points (CPs), have been available, these conventional SRGMs cannot be directly applied to web soft- ware reliability analysis because of the complex web operational profile. To characterize the web operational profile precisely, it should be realized that the workload of a web server is normally non-homogeneous and often observed with the pattern of random impulsive shocks. A web software reliability model with random im- pulsive shocks and its statistical analysis method are developed. In the proposed model, the web server workload is characterized by a geometric Brownian motion process. Based on a real data set from IIS server logs of ICRMS website (www.icrms.cn), the proposed model is demonstrated to be powerful for estimating impulsive shocks and web software reliability.

文摘Traditional structural reliability analysis methods adopt precise probabilities to quantify uncertainties and they are suitable for systems with sufficient statistical data.However,the problem of insufficient data is often encountered in practical engineering.Thus,structural reliability analysis methods under insufficient data have caught more and more attentions in recent years and a lot of nonprobabilistic reliability analysis methods are put forward to deal with the problem of insufficient data.Non-probabilistic structural reliability analysis methods based on fuzzy set,Dempster-Shafer theory,interval analysis and other theories have got a lot of achievements both in theoretical and practical aspects and they have been successfully applied in structural reliability analysis of largescale complex systems with small samples and few statistical data.In addition to non-probabilistic structural reliability analysis methods,structural reliability analysis based on imprecise probability theory is a new method proposed in recent years.Study on structural reliability analysis using imprecise probability theory is still at the start stage,thus the generalization of imprecise structural reliability model is very important.In this paper,the imprecise probability was developed as an effective way to handle uncertainties,the detailed procedures of imprecise structural reliability analysis was introduced,and several specific imprecise structural reliability models which are most effective for engineering systems were given.At last,an engineering example of a cantilever beam was given to illustrate the effectiveness of the method emphasized here.By comparing with interval structural reliability analysis,the result obtained from imprecise structural reliability model is a little conservative than the one resulted from interval structural reliability analysis for imprecise structural reliability analysis model considers that the probability of each value is taken from an interval.
文摘There is a common sense that heavy-duty CNC machine strongly depends on its foundation and can be easily affected by many factors.Hydraulic system,the most important part in CNC machine,is a complex and multi-loop system.In order to make up for the shortcomings of traditional fault tree analysis method and traditional GO method,the most effective method named fuzzy GO method is proposed to analyze the reliability of hydraulic system.And then some ideas are provided for system reliability assessment,fault diagnosis and maintenance by qualitative and quantitative analysis.

文摘Diseases in tea trees can result in significant losses in both the quality and quantity of tea production.Regular monitoring can help to prevent the occurrence of large-scale diseases in tea plantations.However,existingmethods face challenges such as a high number of parameters and low recognition accuracy,which hinders their application in tea plantation monitoring equipment.This paper presents a lightweight I-MobileNetV2 model for identifying diseases in tea leaves,to address these challenges.The proposed method first embeds a Coordinate Attention(CA)module into the originalMobileNetV2 network,enabling the model to locate disease regions accurately.Secondly,a Multi-branch Parallel Convolution(MPC)module is employed to extract disease features across multiple scales,improving themodel’s adaptability to different disease scales.Finally,the AutoML for Model Compression(AMC)is used to compress themodel and reduce computational complexity.Experimental results indicate that our proposed algorithm attains an average accuracy of 96.12%on our self-built tea leaf disease dataset,surpassing the original MobileNetV2 by 1.91%.Furthermore,the number of model parameters have been reduced by 40%,making itmore suitable for practical application in tea plantation environments.

文摘In an uncertainty scheme, reliability and global sensitivity analysis is studied in this work, to provide helpful information for probabilistic anti-resonance design of vibration systems.Discussions show that the resonance failure problem can be viewed as a series system, in which input uncertainties are modeled by random variables. In order to quantitatively measure the contributions of input variables to the system reliability, a global sensitivity index is proposed, the properties of which are also discussed. Then the proposed index is tested with an aeronautical hydraulic pipeline system, which is under the excitation of pump vibration and at a risk of resonance failure. Sensitivity results under different failure criteria and variation coefficients are obtained and studied, from which significant and insignificant input variables can be identified.The proposed method provides a relatively new insight for anti-resonance design of engineering structures.

文摘Titanium cermets were successfully synthesized on the surface of biomedical grade titanium alloys by using sequential carburization method. The mechanical properties such as hardness, fracture toughness and plasticity were measured to estimate the potential application of titanium cermets. The results show that after carburization the surface hardness of titanium cermets was 778 HV, with a significant improvement of 128% compared with that of titanium alloys. In addition, the fracture toughness of titanium cermets was 21.5 × 10^6 Pa.m^1/2, much higher than that of other ceramics. Furthermore, the analysis of the loading-unloading curve in the nanoindentation test also indicates that the plasticity of titanium cermet reached 32.1%, a relatively high value which illustrates the combination of the metal and ceramics properties. The results suggest that sequential carburization should be an efficient way to produce titanium cermets with hard surface, high toughness and plasticity.

文摘It is of a vital importance to reduce the frictional losses in marine diesel engines. Advanced surface textures have provided an e ective solution to friction performance of rubbing pairs due to the rapid development of surface engineering techniques. However,the mechanisms through which textured patterns and texturing methods prove beneficial remains unclear. To address this issue,the tribological system of the cylinder liner?piston ring(CLPR) is investigated in this work. Two types of surface textures(Micro concave,Micro V?groove) are processed on the cylinder specimen using di erent processing methods. Comparative study on the friction coe cients,worn surface texture features and oil film characteristics are performed. The results demonstrate that the processing method of surface texture a ect the performance of the CLPR pairs under the specific testing conditions. In addition the micro V?groove processed by CNCPM is more favorable for improving the wear performances at the low load,while the micro?con?cave processed by CE is more favorable for improving the wear performances at the high load. These findings are in helping to understand the e ect of surface texture on wear performance of CLPR.

文摘Water-lubricated bearing has become the development trend in the future because of its economy and environmental friendliness.The poor friction performance under low speed and heavy load seriously limits the popularization and application of water-lubricated bearings.Learning from nature,the phenomenon of low friction and wear in nature has aroused great interest of scientists,and a lot of research has been carried out from mechanism analysis to bionic application.In this review,our purpose is to provide guiding methods and analysis basis for the bionic design and theoretical research of anti-friction and anti-wear of water-lubricated bearings.The development of water-lubricated bearing materials are described.Some typical examples of natural friction reduction and drag reduction are introduced in detail,and several representative preparation methods are listed.Finally,the application status of bionic tribology in water-lubricated bearings is summarized,and the future development direction of water-lubricated bearings is prospected.

文摘Condition based maintenance(CBM) issues a new challenge of real-time monitoring for machine health maintenance. Wear state monitoring becomes the bottle-neck of CBM due to the lack of on-line information acquiring means. The wear mechanism judgment with characteristic wear debris has been widely adopted in off-line wear analysis; however, on-line wear mechanism characterization remains a big problem. In this paper, the wear mechanism identification via on-line ferrograph images is studied. To obtain isolated wear debris in an on-line ferrograph image, the deposition mechanism of wear debris in on-line ferrograph sensor is studied. The study result shows wear debris chain is the main morphology due to local magnetic field around the deposited wear debris. Accordingly, an improved sampling route for on-line wear debris deposition is designed with focus on the self-adjustment deposition time. As a result, isolated wear debris can be obtained in an on-line image, which facilitates the feature extraction of characteristic wear debris. By referring to the knowledge of analytical ferrograph, four dimensionless morphological features, including equivalent dimension, length-width ratio, shape factor, and contour fractal dimension of characteristic wear debris are extracted for distinguishing four typical wear mechanisms including normal, cutting, fatigue, and severe sliding wear. Furthermore, a feed-forward neural network is adopted to construct an automatic wear mechanism identification model. By training with the samples from analytical ferrograph, the model might identify some typical characteristic wear debris in an on-line ferrograph image. This paper performs a meaningful exploratory for on-line wear mechanism analysis, and the obtained results will provide a feasible way for on-line wear state monitoring.

文摘The study of frictional properties of human skin is important for medical research, skin care products and textile exploi- tation. In order to investigate the influence of normal load and sliding speed on the frictional properties of skin and its possible mechanism, tests were carded out on a multi-specimen friction tester. When the normal load increases from 0.1 N to 0.9 N, normal displacement and the friction coefficient of skin increase. The friction coefficient is dependent on the load, indicating that both adhesion and deformation contribute to the friction behaviour. The deformation friction was interpreted using the plough model of friction. When sliding speed increases from 0.5 mm·s^-1 to 4 mm·s^-1, the friction coefficient increases and "stick-slip" phenomena increase, indicating that hysteretic friction contributes to the friction. The hysteretic friction was in- terpreted using schematic of energy translation during the rigid spherical probe sliding on the soft skin surface, which provides an explanation for the influence of the sliding speed on the frictional characteristics of the skin.
文摘This study provides a systematic overview of the advent and evolution of reliability systems engineering(RSE)in China,and the latest RSE development,that is,model-based RSE(MBRSE),is emphatically introduced.The establishment of the system architecture and conceptual models of MBRSE is first described.The fundamental theory and methodology of MBRSE are then elaborated,with a V-model as the core of this approach.The development of various MBRSE platforms and the effectiveness of their implementation over the past 30 years are presented.The prospective trends in the development of RSE in China are outlined.
