Wavelet based filtering analysis can produce Low Frequency (LF) and High Frequency (HF) subbands of the original input images. The extremely small size microcalcifications become visible under multiresolution techniques. LF subband is then fuzzified by conventional fuzzy c-means clustering (FCM) algorithm with justified number of clusters. HF components, representing the narrow protrusions and other fine details are also fuzzified by FCM with justified number of clusters. Vague set approach captures the hesitancies and uncertainties of truly affected masses/other breast abnormalities with normal glandular tissues. After highlighting the masses/microcalcifications accurately, both LF and HF subbands are transformed back to the original resolution by inverse wavelet transform. The results show that the proposed method can successfully enhance the selected regions of mammograms and provide better contrast images for visual interpretation.展开更多

Irreducible Poly-nomials (IPs) have been used to construct 4-bit or 8-bit substitution boxes in many cryptographic block ciphers. In Advance Encryption Standard, the ele-ments of 8-bit S-box have been obtained from the Multiplicative Inverse (MI) of elemental polynomials (EPs) of the 1st IP over Galois field GF(28) by adding an additive element. In this paper, a mathematical method and the algorithm of the said method with the discussion of the execution time of the algorithm, to obtain monic IPs over Galois field GF(pq) have been illustrated with example. The method is very similar to polynomial multiplication of two polynomials over Galois field GF(pq) but has a difference in execution. The decimal equivalents of polynomials have been used to identify Basic Polynomials (BPs), EPs, IPs and Reducible polynomials (RPs). The monic RPs have been determined by this method and have been cancelled out to produce monic IPs. The non-monic IPs have been obtained with multiplication of α where?α∈ GF(pq)?and assume values from 2 to (p −1) to monic IPs.展开更多

In this case, ionospheric critical frequency of F2 layer (foF2) variations and meteorological parameters, viz., air temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure and wind speed variations were investigated so as to detect any anomalies. Data are obtained from different websites freely available for researchers. In the absence of real ionosonde foF2 data, IRI 2016 model data were used. For each parameter, anomaly window were defined when values fell beyond ± 6 ℃,< 70 %,± 4 mb and ± 3.5 km h-1 from the event day value and one third of total foF2 values broke the limits of the upper and lower bounds. Certain random anomalies in temperature, relative humidity, pressure, wind speed and foF2 frequencies were observed different days prior to occurrence of the quake but each parameter showed anomalies 12 days before the occurrence. Also, geomagnetic tranquility was justified through Kp and Dst indices. This study reveals that continuous monitoring of atmospheric meteorological parameters and regular ionospheric foF2 observations might help us to predict an earthquake about a week prior to the occurrence.展开更多

Results show that the large-signal RF power output of the device in both CW and pulsed modes increases with the increase of voltage modulation factor up to 60%, but decreases sharply with further increase of voltage modulation factor for a particular junction temperature; while the same parameter increases with the increase of junction temperature for a particular voltage modulation factor. Heat sinks made of copper and type-IIA diamond are designed to carry out the steady-state and transient thermal analysis of the device operating in CW and pulsed modes respectively. Authors have adopted Olson's method to carry out the transient analysis of the device, which clearly establishes the superiority of type-IIA diamond over copper as the heat sink material of the device from the standpoint of the undesirable effect of frequency chirping due to thermal transients in the pulsed mode.展开更多

A L-S simulation technique based on a non-sinusoidal voltage excitation (NSVE) model developed by the authors has been used to obtain the high frequency properties of the above mentioned devices. The effect of band-to-band tunneling on the L-S properties of the device at different mm-wave and THz frequencies are also investigated. Similar studies are also carried out for DDR IMPATTs based on the most popular semiconductor material, i.e. Si, for the sake of comparison. A compara- tive study of the devices based on conventional semiconductor materials (i.e. GaAs, InP and Si) with those based on Wz-GaN shows significantly better performance capabilities of the latter at both mm-wave and THz frequencies.展开更多

The effect of band-to-band tunneling as well as parasitic series resistance on the large-signal properties of DDR Si IMPATTs have also been studied at different mm-wave and THz frequencies.
