In this paper we report studies of the robust properties of the lensless ghost imaging system with a pseudo-thermal light source in a strongly scattering medium. The effects of the positions of the strong medium on the ghost imaging are investigated. In the lensless ghost imaging system, a pseudo-thermal light is split into two correlated beams by a beam splitter. One beam goes to a charge-coupled detector camera, labeled as CCD2. The other beam goes to an object and then is collected in another charge-coupled detector camera, labeled as CCD1, which serves as a bucket detector. When the strong medium, a pane of ground glass disk, is placed between the object and CCD1, the bucket detector, the quality of ghost imaging is barely affected and a good image could still be obtained. The quality of the ghost imaging can also be maintained, even when the ground glass is rotating, which is the strongest scattering medium so far. However, when the strongly scattering medium is present in the optical path from the light source to CCD2 or the object, the lensless ghost imaging system hardly retrieves the image of the object. A theoretical analysis in terms of the second-order correlation function is also provided.展开更多

Instabilities due to dust-neutral and ion-neutral drags can occur in electrostatic waves of collisional dusty plasmas with self-gravitating particles. In this study, the effect of gravitational force on heavy dust particles is considered in tandem with both the polarization and electrostatic forces. The parallax method is the most widely used and important basic method for stellar ranging. However, it needs to perform highprecision measurement of the parallax angle and the baseline length together. We aim to propose a new stellar ranging scheme based on second-order correlation that does not require a parallax angle measurement. We hope our solution can be as basic as the parallax method. We propose a new stellar ranging scheme by using the offset of second-order correlation curve signals. The optical path difference between the stars and different base stations is determined by the offset of the second-order correlation curve signals. Then the distance of the stars could be determined by the geometric relation. With the distance to stars out to 10 kpc away, our astrometric precision can be better compared to Gaia by simulation. We also design an experiment and successfully demonstrate the feasibility of this scheme. This stellar ranging scheme enables further and more accurate stellar ranging without requiring any prior information or angle measurement.展开更多

It is shown that the amplifying parameters and laser output power have a maximum value at optimum buffer gas pressure of 11?Torr. The challenge between microscopic parameters such as stimulated emission cross section, laser upper level lifetime, and population inversion, which determine the values of laser characteristics respective to the operational pressure of buffer gas, are investigated. Thus an optimum delay time of about 10?ns is determined, and a maximum output power equivalent to about 12?W is extracted. The amplifying parameters and measured output power of laser versus delay times show some local maxima and minima at the delay time interval of 6–43?ns.展开更多

文摘Stellar ranging is the basis for stellar dynamics research and in-depth research on astrophysics. This stellar ranging scheme enables further and more accurate stellar ranging without requiring any prior information or angle measurement.
文摘A pair of copper bromide lasers in an oscillator–amplifier configuration is used to investigate the small signal gain and saturation intensity as amplifying parameters and output power of lasers, versus pressure of buffer gas. The amplifying parameters and measured output power of laser versus delay times show some local maxima and minima at the delay time interval of 6–43?ns.
文摘It was the best of times;it was the worst of times. It was the season of population medicine;it was the season of personalized medicine--or was it?Charles Dickens'fictional depiction of late eighteenth century France walked a tense line that masterfully narrated the untenable socioeconomic disparity of its day.He described the forces that inevitably led to the French revolution.Today in the world of medicine we are on the verge of similai"untenable tension.Unravelling of the human genome was indeed an epochal event that brought with it the promise of personalized medicine.
