Objective:To evaluate the global liter-ature output on the relationship between brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)and cognitive function in al-cohol dependence syndrome using bibliometric methods and explore the ...Objective:To evaluate the global liter-ature output on the relationship between brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)and cognitive function in al-cohol dependence syndrome using bibliometric methods and explore the status and trends in this field.Method:The literature on the application of BDNF in cognitive impairment caused by alcohol dependence syndrome published from 1995 to 2023 were retrieved from Web of Science,and the relevant information(publication characteristics,country and institution,author,number of publications,citation,journal and research field,corresponding author,key words,etc.)was recorded.The bibliometrix R package was used for quantitative and qualitative analysis of publication output and author contributions.Result:A total of 99 articles were included.The overall number of publications in this field has increased over time.The countries and institutions that contributed the most to the field were the United States and the Academy of Medical Sciences of Iranian universities,respectively.Most of the authors were from the United States,followed by Spain,China,and Iran.Ceccanti M,Fiore M were the most productive authors.Publications with Ceccanti M had the highest h-index.The most cited reference author is Haenninen H(227 citations),and the number one published journal is Alcohol.Most articles were published in 2020(n=12)and 2022(n=11),followed by 2019 and 2021(n=10).The corresponding author has the largest number of publications from the United States,and more publications from a single country tend to have more cooperation from other countries.BDNF and alcohol appeared more frequently in various keyword clouds.However,significant differences remained in the author keyword cloud,keyword plus word cloud,and paper topic word cloud.Conclusion:BDNF has great potential in the application of cognitive dysfunction caused by alcohol dependence syndrome.Bibliometric methods and data visualization techniques can help understand the current state of research progress and enable relevant scholars and practitioners to predict the development trends in this field.展开更多
The recent global economic recession has affected nursing working conditions in terms of salary reductions, increased workload and staff shortages. Poor nursing working conditions are associated with higher levels of ...The recent global economic recession has affected nursing working conditions in terms of salary reductions, increased workload and staff shortages. Poor nursing working conditions are associated with higher levels of burnout. However in Greece this association has not yet been studied. The aim of this study was to explore financial crisis related changes in nurses’ working conditions and their associations with burnout. A cross-sectional quantitative survey was conducted and data were collected through self-reported questionnaires from 299 Greek nurses from two Public Hospitals in 2012. Multiple linear regression analyses were used in order to find independent factors associated with burnout. The results showed that Greek nurses had high levels of burnout. Satisfaction from the job, quality of care and feeling equivalent with other professionals were independent predictors of lower emotional exhaustion. Workload increase and willingness to change career and work department were independent predictors of higher emotional exhaustion. Job satisfaction and satisfaction from care quality were independent predictors of lower depersonalization. Changes in working relationships and willingness to change career were independent predictors of higher depersonalization. Higher personal accomplishments were independently associated with more years in nursing, satisfaction from the salary prior to reductions, better quality of care, feeling suitable for the job and being anxious about future career. Influence on nurse efficiency by income reduction was an independent predictor of lower personal accomplishments. In conclusion, Greek nurses were suffering from high levels of burnout which was independently associated with crisis related working conditions. Interventions are needed in order to reduce the burden of burnout among Greek nurses.展开更多

The majority of papers concerning the families of autistic children concentrate on the quality of their liv...The influence of the family of origin is often described in the aetiology of different psychiatric disorders. The majority of papers concerning the families of autistic children concentrate on the quality of their lives. The aim of our study was to compare the experiences from the family of origin of mothers of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders （ASD） and from mothers of healthy children. In our study a Family of Origin Scale （FOS） was used. This scale consists of l0 constructs： clarity of expression, responsibility, respect for others, openness to others, acceptance of separation/loss, range of feelings, mood and tone, conflict resolution, empathy and trust. It was a pilot study. The examined group consisted of 9 mothers of children with ASD, the control group-7 mothers of healthy children. We found that both groups differed in a statistically significant way as for the construct called responsibility. Our research was a pilot study and it required further investigations.展开更多
Introduction Currently,interventions for children with autism spectrum disorders(ASD)in China are mainly carried out by professionals in rehabilitation institutions and special schools.However,when autistic children a...Introduction Currently,interventions for children with autism spectrum disorders(ASD)in China are mainly carried out by professionals in rehabilitation institutions and special schools.However,when autistic children are older,they do not receive effective training and treatment,and there is no specific place in society to accommodate autistic adults.Mental hospitals are usually their ultimate home.Case presentation We report a 22‐year‐old male with ASD.The manifestation and/or intervention from the age of 3 years to now were recorded.He has been hospitalized in the closed ward of a mental hospital since 2015.Conclusion This report typically present the current problems in treatment and training of autistic children growing up in China.Life‐long rehabilitation training is important for every patient with ASD.Relevant policies and resources in China should be optimized in terms of medical treatment and health care,education and training,social assistance,social security,labor employment,and social culture.展开更多
