Developing sensorless techniques for estimating battery expansion is essential for effective mechanical state monitoring,improving the accuracy of digital twin simulation and abnormality detection.Therefore,this paper presents a data-driven approach to expansion estimation using electromechanical coupled models with machine learning.The proposed method integrates reduced-order impedance models with data-driven mechanical models,coupling the electrochemical and mechanical states through the state of charge(SOC)and mechanical pressure within a state estimation framework.The coupling relationship was established through experimental insights into pressure-related impedance parameters and the nonlinear mechanical behavior with SOC and pressure.The data-driven model was interpreted by introducing a novel swelling coefficient defined by component stiffnesses to capture the nonlinear mechanical behavior across various mechanical constraints.Sensitivity analysis of the impedance model shows that updating model parameters with pressure can reduce the mean absolute error of simulated voltage by 20 mV and SOC estimation error by 2%.The results demonstrate the model's estimation capabilities,achieving a root mean square error of less than 1 kPa when the maximum expansion force is from 30 kPa to 120 kPa,outperforming calibrated stiffness models and other machine learning techniques.The model's robustness and generalizability are further supported by its effective handling of SOC estimation and pressure measurement errors.This work highlights the importance of the proposed framework in enhancing state estimation and fault diagnosis for lithium-ion batteries. 展开更多

Weather variations present a major challenge for photovoltaic(PV)systems in obtaining the optimal output during maximum power point tracking(MPPT),particularly under partial shadowing conditions(PSCs).Bypass diodes are typically installed across the series-connected PV modules to avoid the occurrence of the hotspots.Consequently,the power curve exhibits several local peaks(LPs)and one global peak(GP).The conventional MPPTs typically become stuck in one of these LPs,presenting a significant decrease in both the power output and overall efficiency of the PV system.A major constraint of several optimization techniques is their inability to differ-entiate between the irradiancefluctuations and load alterations.In this study,we analyze seven different methods for MPPT.These include:the team game algorithm(TGA),social ki driver algorithm(SSD),differential evolution(DE),grey wolf optimization(GWO),particle swarm optimization(PSO),cuckoo search(CS),and the perturb and observe(P&O)method.These algorithms were applied in practice,and their effectiveness was experimentally demonstrated under different amounts of solar irradiation while maintain-ing a constant temperature.The results indicate that the CS and TGA approaches can accurately track the MPPT across various posi-tions on the P-V curve.These methods achieve average efficiencies of 99.59%and 99.54%,respectively.Additionally,the TGA achieves superior performance with the shortest average tracking time of 0.92 s,outperforming the existing MPPT algorithms. 展开更多

One-step direct ammonia synthesis by pulse-modulated microwave plasma at atmospheric pressure

In this study,we explored a one-step direct synthesis of NH3 under mild experimental conditions utilizing pulse-modulated microwave plasma technology at atmospheric pressure.At a substantial gas flow rate,a microwave plasma jet was formed and the microwave-assisted ammonia synthesis can be realized.Impacts of various parameters including the gas flow rate,gas component,microwave absorbed power,pulse modulation frequency,and pulse duty cycle on ammonia synthesis were systematically investigated.To indicate the reaction path of ammonia synthesis,the distributions of both the gas temperature and active species were also studied using optical emission spectra technology.It is found that a considerable amount of ammonia was directly synthesized without involvement of any catalysts,the highest ammonia production rate and energy efficiency(EE),up to 2.93μmol·min^(-1) and 6.64×10^(-2)g·(k W·h)^(-1),respectively,were achieved under low microwave power of 84.42 W.The duty cycle has obvious influences on the synthesis efficiency,compared to a duty cycle of 80%,the ammonia synthesis rate,EE and nitrogen conversion decreased by about 22%at a duty cycle of 100%.This finding underscores the significance of incorporating pulse modulation in the microwave discharge process for ammonia synthesis.Furthermore,it was found that vibrational excitation of microwave plasma has a significant driving effect on ammonia synthesis. 展开更多

Alpha-voltaic cell is a type of micro nuclear battery that provides several decades of reliable power in the nano watt to microwatt range,supplying for special applications where traditional chemical batteries or solar cells are difficult to operate.However,the power conversion efficiency of the alpha-voltaic cells reported are still far behind the theoretical limit,making the development of alpha-voltaic cell challenging.Developing advanced semiconductor transducers with higher efficiency in converting the energy of alpha particles into electric energy is proving to be necessary for realizing high-power conversion efficiency.Herein,we propose an alpha-voltaic cell based on SiC PIN transducer that includes a sensitive region with an area of 1 cm^(2),a width of 51.2μm,and a charge collection efficiency of 95.6%at 0 V bias.We find that optimizing the unintentional doping concentration and crystal quality of the SiC epitaxial layer can significantly increase the absorption and utilization of the energy of alpha particles,resulting in a 2.4-fold enhancement in power conversion efficiency compared with that of the previous study.Electrical properties of the SiC alpha-voltaic cell are measured using an He-ion accelerator as the equivalentα-radioisotopes,with the best power conversion efficiency of 2.10%and maximum output power density of 406.66 nW cm-2 is obtained.Our research makes a big leap in SiC alpha-voltaic cell,bridging the gap between micro nuclear batteries and practical applications in micro-electromechanical systems,micro aerial vehicles,and tiny satellites. 展开更多

Analysis on the capacity degradation mechanism of a series lithium-ion power battery pack based on inconsistency of capacity 被引量:2

The lithium-ion battery has been widely used as an energy source. Charge rate, discharge rate, and operating tem- perature are very important factors for the capacity degradations of power batteries and battery packs. Firstly, in this paper we make use of an accelerated life test and a statistical analysis method to establish the capacity accelerated degradation model under three constant stress parameters according to the degradation data, which are charge rate, discharge rate, and operating temperature, and then we propose a capacity degradation model according to the current residual capacity of a Li-ion cell under dynamic stress parameters. Secondly, we analyze the charge and discharge process of a series power battery pack and interpret the correlation between the capacity degradations of the battery pack and its charge/discharge rate. According to this cycling condition, we establish a capacity degradation model of a series power battery pack under inconsistent capacity of cells, and analyze the degradation mechanism with capacity variance and operating temperature difference. The comparative analysis of test results shows that the inconsistent operating temperatures of cells in the series power battery pack are the main cause of its degradation; when the difference between inconsistent temperatures is narrowed by 5 ℃, the cycle life can be improved by more than 50%. Therefore, it effectively improves the cycle life of the series battery pack to reasonably assemble the batteries according to their capacities and to narrow the differences in operating temperature among cells. 展开更多

In the last decades the voltage regulation has been challenged by the increase of power variability in the electric grid,due to the spread of non-dispatchable generation sources.This paper introduces a Smart Transformer(ST)-based Medium Voltage(MV)grid support by means of active power control in the ST-fed Low Voltage(LV)grid.The aim of the proposed strategy is to improve the voltage profile in MV grids before the operation of On-Load Tap Changer in the primary substation transformer,which needs tens of seconds.This is realized through reactive power injection by the AC/DC MV converter and simultaneous decrease of the active power consumption of voltage-dependent loads in ST-fed LV grid,controlling the ST output voltage.The last feature has two main effects:the first is to reduce the active power withdrawn from MV grid,and consequently the MV voltage drop caused by the active current component.At the same time,higher reactive power injection capability in the MV converter is unlocked,due to the lower active power demand.As result,the ST increases the voltage support in MV grid.The analysis and simulation results carried out in this paper show improvements compared to similar solutions,i.e.the only reactive power compensation.The impact of the proposed solution has been finally evaluated under different voltage-dependence of the loads in the LV grid. 展开更多

The control schemes are both effective in DC-DC converters and DC-AC converters. Controller models are set up, and the over-current limit operation principles of analogy and digital control are analyzed too. An 800VA aeronautical power supply bas been constructed to verify the performance of the proposed control strategy in various cases such as the sudden load change and the constant load. Traditional power supply method for moving electric railway vehicles is based on contact type power collection technology.This sometimes cannot meet the requirements of modern rail transportation.A new wireless power transfer(WPT)technology can offer significant benefits in modern rail transportation particularly in some stringent environments.This paper reviews the status and the development of rail transit power supply technology,and introduces a new challenging technology--inductive power transfer(IPT)technology for rail transit.Tesla established the underpinning of IPT technology and creatively and significantly demonstrated power transfer by using highly resonant tuned coils long time ago.However,only in recent years the IPT technology has been significantly improved including the transfer air-gap length,transfer efficiency,coupling factor,power transfer capability and so on.This is mainly due to innovative semiconductor switches,higher control frequency,better coil designs and high performance material,new track and vehicle construction techniques.Recent advances in IPT for rail transit and major milestones of the developments are summarized in this paper.Some important technical issues such as coupling coil structures,power supply schemes,segmentation switching techniques for long-distance power supply,and bidirectional IPT systems for braking energy feedback are discussed. 展开更多

This paper presents a PFCVF (Power Factor Correction) rectifier that uses a variable frequency source for alternators for electric and hybrid vehicles application. In such application, the frequency of the signal in the alternator changes according to the vehicle speed, more over the loading effect on the alternator introduces harmonic currents and increases the alternator apparent power requirements. To overcome these problems and aiming more stability and better design of the alternator, a new third harmonic injection technique is proposed. This technique allows to preserve a good THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) of the input source at any frequency and to decrease losses in semiconductors switches, thereby allowing more stability and reducing the apparent power requirements. A comparative study between the standard and the new technique is made and highlights the effectiveness of the new design. A detailed analysis of the proposed topology is presented and simulations as well as experimental results are shown. 展开更多
