The Program is composed of seven key projects, namely, studies on western China’s environmental evolution laws, and sustainable utilization of its wa- ter-and-soil resources; an experimental demonstration of the comprehensive management of the ecology and environment in Hunshandak Sands and the transitional belts between farming and pastoral areas at the north- ern fringe of Beijing; an experimental demonstration of water-and-soil preservation and ecological resto- ration on the Loess Plateau; an experimental demon- stration of comprehensive management of the water resources, ecosystems and local economies in the Heihe River Valley; an experimental demonstration of the rehabilitation and rebuilding of the typically de- pleted ecosystems in the upper reaches of Minjiang River Valley; an experimental demonstration of the control of desertification and ecosystem management of oases in the lower reaches of Tarim River; and re- search and development of new drugs with indepen- dent intellectual properties. 展开更多
