It is the leading cause of cancer mortality in women, almost all of which is due to metastases, with 73% of metastases occurring in the bone. In oncology, metastable technetium 99-labelled methylene bisphosphonate bone scintigraphy (BS) remains the standard examination for detecting and assessing the extent of bone metastases. The aim of this study was to assess the role of BS in the evaluation and follow-up of breast cancer in Senegal. Methodology: This was a retrospective study of breast cancer patients who underwent bone scintigraphy with <sup>99m</sup>Tc-HMDP in the nuclear medicine department of Idrissa Pouye General Hospital (IPGHO), from July 2009 to June 2022. Results: We enrolled 165 patients, mean age 46.79 years (27 - 87 years). BS was performed in 94.37% of cases for post-therapeutic monitoring and in 5.63% for pre-therapeutic assessment. Results were contributory in 131 patients (92.25%), of whom 72 cases (50.70%) were normal and 59 cases (41.55%) positive or presenting bone metastases;and non-contributory or doubtful in 11 cases (7.75%). Secondary bone locations were multiple in 57 cases (96.61%) and single or solitary in 2 cases (3.39%). The scintigraphic appearance of bone metastases was hyper-fixative in 58 cases (98.31%) and mixed in 1 case (1.69%). Bone lesions were quantified using the Soloway’s grading classification. Conclusion: BS with <sup>99m</sup>Tc-labelled bisphosphonates remains the examination of choice for skeletal exploration, in the detection and extension of bone metastases in breast cancer. Performance has been enhanced by the development of SPECT coupled with CT (SPECT-CT).展开更多

It occurs mainly between the ages of 30 and 50. Sternocostoclavicular hyperostosis is one of the main distinguishing features. We report a case of SAPHO in Dakar diagnosed by bone scintigraphy. Observation: 28-year-old Senegalese women presented with left shoulder pain and relative functional impotence for over 2 years. Examination revealed right sternoclavicular hyperostosis and left shoulder pain on palpation. Questioning revealed a history of acne and hyperostosis of the right first toe. Bone scintigraphy, performed after injection of 630 MBq of <sup>99m</sup>Tc-HMDP, revealed: hyperfixation of the bilateral (right++) manubrio-sternal and sternoclavicular junction, producing the classic bull’s horn image;hyperfixation of the left shoulder with an inflammatory appearance;hyperfixation of the sacroiliac joints suggestive of bilateral sacroiliitis;hyperfixation of the right first toe;two mandibular hyper fixations probably related to dental damage. This scintigraphic appearance in one was strongly suggestive of SAPHO syndrome. Conclusion: SAPHO syndrome, related to spondyloarthropathy, associates cutaneous and osteoarticular signs. It is characterized by frequent delays in diagnosis due to poor recognition. Soy is an invaluable diagnostic tool, enabling us to assess the extent of the disease and its evolution.展开更多

Cancer stem cells (CSCs), despite being only a small subset of cancer cells, have the capability to self-renew and sustain the tumor. They also have the ability to proliferate. Multiple CSCs-associated markers have been identified in colon cancer including CD133, ALDH1 and β-catenin. The aim of the work was to study the prognostic value of CSCs markers (CD133, ALDH 1 and β-catenin), as well as their rela- tionship to clinicopathological features of colon cancer. Methods: CD133, ALDH1 and β-catenin proteins expression was as- sessed immunohistochemically in a series of colon cancers and their prognostic significance was evaluated. Results: CD133 expression showed significant relationship to tumor stage and lymph node metastasis (P-value 0.004 & 〈 0.001 respectively), and near significant relationship to liver metastasis (P-value 0.092). ALDH1 was significantly associated with tumor grade, stage and nodal metastasis (P-value 0.021,0.001 and 0.026 respectively), but its relationship to liver metastasis was near sig- nificant (P-value 0.068). Nuclear β-catenin was significantly related to tumor grade, stage, nodal and liver metastasis (P-value 0.001, 〈 0.001, 〈 0.001 and 0.008 respectively). Overall survival (OS) was associated inversely with CD133, ALDH1 positivity, and directly with nuclear 13-catenin posiUvity (P-value 〈 0.001,0.0001 and 〈 0.001 respectively). Also recurrence free survival (RFS) was associated inversely with CD133, ALDH1 and directly with nuclearβ-catenin positivity (P-value 0.0001,0.001 and 〈 0.001 respectively). Conclusion: CD133, ALDH1 and β-catenin expressions of tumor cells have significant impact upon malignant progression of colon cancer and thus patient survival and tumor recurrence. Hence they can be used to predict outcome of colon cancer patients.展开更多

It was used a new set of point kinetics equations for subcritical systems based on the model proposed by Gandini & Salvatores. In this work it was employed the integrating factor method. The analytical solution for the case of interest was obtained by using only an approximation which consists of disregarding the term of the second derivative for neutron density in relation to time when compared with the other terms of the equation. And also, it is proposed an approximation for the upper incomplete gamma function found in the solution in order to make the computational processing faster. In addition, for purposes of validation and comparison a numerical solution was obtained by the finite differences method. Finally, it can be concluded that the obtained solution is accurate and has fast numerical processing time, especially when compared with the results of numerical solution by finite difference. One can also observe that the gamma approximation used achieve a high accuracy for the usual parameters. Thus we got satisfactory results when the solution is applied to practical situations, such as a reactor startup.展开更多

The Administrated Activity (AAs) (MBq) was collected from six nuclear medicine departments. Factors influencing the image quality were also observed. The established Sudan National DRLs represent the AA value corresponding to 75th percentile of the AA frequency distribution. Generally, Sudan National DRLs and average AAs are comparable with the papers published in the international literature. All Sudanese DRLs values were found within the international range. While it is noted that the Sudanese DRLs is higher than the values of ARSA except for the MIBI pharmaceuticals that used in both parathyroid and myocardial perfusion scan and for <sup>99m</sup>TcDTPA that used for Dynamic Renal scan study the DRLs values were decreased. In compared with UNSCEAR 2008 data, the average dose (MBq) for Sudanese we note that the bone scan falls within the average values while it’s lower in all other scans except for parathyroid scan in which the AAAs increase more than twice. When compared to BSS 1996, it showed variation in increased and decreased AAAs. There may be potential for reducing the higher values of AAs, in co-operation with Nuclear Medicine staff.展开更多

A nearby maritime oil spill accident is one of the external events analysed in the probabilistic risk assessment of the plant. In the worst case, the oil could cause a loss of the ultimate heat sink by blocking the sea water intake screens. By considering the maritime traffic, oil transport and oil spill accident data in the Baltic Sea area, the annual probabilities of nearby, significant oil spills are evaluated. Event tree analysis is used to evaluate the probability that significant amount of oil enters the plant intake tunnel. The spill behaviour is considered, including oil spreading, dissolution, dispersion and movement due to wind and currents. In addition, oil combat measures including the use ofoil booms and skimmers are evaluated.展开更多
This work investigated the dynamic behavior of vertical pipes conveying gas-liquid two-phase flow when subjected to external excitations at both ends.Even with minimal excitation amplitude,resonance can occur when the...This work investigated the dynamic behavior of vertical pipes conveying gas-liquid two-phase flow when subjected to external excitations at both ends.Even with minimal excitation amplitude,resonance can occur when the excitation frequency aligns with the natural frequency of the pipe,significantly increasing the degree of operational risk.The governing equation of motion based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam is derived for the relative deflection with stationary simply supported ends,with the effects of the external excitations represented by source terms distributed along the pipe length.The fourth-order partial differential equation is solved via the generalized integral transform technique(GITT),with the solution successfully verified via comparison with results in the literature.A comprehensive analysis of the vibration phenomena and changes in the motion state of the pipe is conducted for three classes of external excitation conditions:same frequency and amplitude(SFSA),same frequency but different amplitudes(SFDA),and different frequencies and amplitudes(DFDA).The numerical results show that with increasing gas volume fraction,the position corresponding to the maximum vibration displacement shifts upward.Compared with conditions without external excitation,the vibration displacement of the pipe conveying two-phase flow under external excitation increases significantly.The frequency of external excitation has a significant effect on the dynamic behavior of a pipe conveying two-phase flow.展开更多
The current industrial-scale production of molybdenum-99(^(99)Mo)and iodine-131(^(131)I)is heavily predicated on thermal neutron irradiation of LEU targets.In this route,^(99)Mo and ^(131)I are separated using a solid...The current industrial-scale production of molybdenum-99(^(99)Mo)and iodine-131(^(131)I)is heavily predicated on thermal neutron irradiation of LEU targets.In this route,^(99)Mo and ^(131)I are separated using a solid-phase extraction approach.The goal of this study was to develop and evaluate copolymeric beads that could be used to separate ^(99)Mo and ^(131)I from their aqueous solutions.Different aminated styrenedivinyl benzene co-polymeric beads were successfully manufactured for this approach.The structural features of the synthesized copolymers were characterized.The resin frameworks were found to have homogeneous spherical shapes decorated with a very thin layer of amine moieties.The FT-IR peaks caused by N—H stretching and C—N bending vibrations show the successful functionalization of the resins'surfaces with amine moieties selective for the sorption of I-over Mo O_(4)^(2-)ions.Under various circumstances,the produced resins were assessed for sorption of ^(99)Mo and ^(131)I from their aqueous solutions.They showed an enhanced sorption capability for I-ions compared to MoO_(4)^(2-)ions and attained equilibrium in less than 20 min.Data declare that the sorption of MoO_(4)^(2-)and I-ions onto synthesized resins was attained through an ion exchange process with Cl-ions.In such interactions,one iodide ion(I-)consumes only one active site from the resin surface,while two active sites must be exhausted to retain one MoO_(4)^(2-)ion onto the surface of the resins.The exchange interaction of both MoO_(4)^(2-)and I-ions was an endothermic process.Further,the elution of ^(99)Mo and ^(131)I radioisotopes loaded on synthesized resins was investigated using various eluents.Additional sets of individual and binary dynamic experiments were performed using columns packed with trimethylamine styrene divinyl benzene(TMA-PSDVB)and triethylamine styrene divinyl benzene(TEA-PSDVB)resins.The individual breakthrough sorption capacity of TMA-PSDVB and TEA-PSDVB resins had values of 381.6 and352.6 mg·g^(-1)for ^(131)I and values of 134.7 and 117.2 mg·g^(-1)for ^(99)Mo isotopes,respectively.Furthermore,TMA-PSDVB resin exhibited breakthrough sorption capacity for ^(99)Mo and ^(131)I,in the binary system,amounting to 123.7 and 331.6 mg·g^(-1)with elution percentages reaching 75.4%and 12.1%,respectively.These findings demonstrate that Mo(Ⅵ)ions were efficiently separated from I(Ⅰ)ions.Finally,the reported aminated polymeric resins may be regarded as promising solid phases for the separation and recovery of Mo(Ⅵ)and I(Ⅰ).展开更多
This study presents a detailed experimental evaluation of a newly developed mechanistic scale-up methodology for gas-solid fluidized beds.Traditional scale-up approaches typically rely on matching global dimensionless...This study presents a detailed experimental evaluation of a newly developed mechanistic scale-up methodology for gas-solid fluidized beds.Traditional scale-up approaches typically rely on matching global dimensionless groups,which often fail to ensure local hydrodynamic similarity.In contrast,the new mechanistic method aims to achieve scale-up by matching the radial profiles of gas holdup between geometrically similar beds at corresponding dimensionless axial positions(z/Dc).This approach is based on the premise that when gas holdup profiles align,other key hydrodynamic parameters—such as solids holdup and particle velocity—also become similar.To validate this methodology,experiments were conducted in two fluidized beds with inner diameters of 14 cm and 44 cm.Optical probes and gamma ray densitometry(GRD)were used to measure local gas holdup,solids holdup,and particle velocity at multiple axial and radial positions.The results show that matched gas holdup profiles led to mean absolute deviations(MAD)below 3%in solids holdup and particle velocity,confirming hydrodynamic similarity.In contrast,unmatched profiles resulted in significant deviations across all parameters.展开更多
IBI351,a synthetic compound,exerts its anti-tumor effects by specifically,covalently,and irreversibly modifying the 12th cysteine residue of KRAS G12C.However,the pharmacokinetic profile of IBI351 in humans has not ye...IBI351,a synthetic compound,exerts its anti-tumor effects by specifically,covalently,and irreversibly modifying the 12th cysteine residue of KRAS G12C.However,the pharmacokinetic profile of IBI351 in humans has not yet been reported.The current study aimed to investigate the pharmacokinetics and safety of IBI351 in healthy Chinese male subjects.A single oral dose of 600 mg combined with 150μCi[^(14)C]IBI351 was administered to six healthy male volunteers.Blood,urine,and fecal samples were collected at multiple time points to quantify the parent drug and its metabolites.IBI351 showed favorable pharmacokinetic characteristics and was well tolerated by all participants.Seventeen major metabolites were identified in plasma,urine,and feces.The main metabolic pathways included oxidation,hydrogenation,sulfonate conjugation,glucuronide conjugation,and cysteine conjugation.Excretion of IBI351 and its metabolites occurred mainly through feces.Collectively,this first-in-human study provides essential data on the metabolism and safety of IBI351 in Chinese subjects and lays the foundation for its further clinical development as a novel anti-tumor drug.展开更多
Even in small concentrations,toxic metals like lead,cadmium,and mercury are dangerous to the environment and human health.Environmental monitoring depends on precisely identifying these heavy metals,particularly cadmi...Even in small concentrations,toxic metals like lead,cadmium,and mercury are dangerous to the environment and human health.Environmental monitoring depends on precisely identifying these heavy metals,particularly cadmium ions(Cd(Ⅱ)).In this study,we present a novel screen-printed carbon electrode(SPCE)modified with single crystallineα-Fe_(2)O_(3)nano-hexagons that functions as a sensor for detecting Cd(Ⅱ).The performance of the fabricated sensor was thoroughly assessed and compared with unmodified SPCE using the voltammetric method.The crystalline structure of the synthesizedα-Fe_(2)O_(3)nano-hexagons was confirmed through XRD,and surface analysis revealed an average diameter and thickness of 86 nm and 9 nm,respectively.Theα-Fe_(2)O_(3)modified SPCE yields a 7-fold enhanced response(at pH 5.0 vs.Ag/AgCl)to Cd(Ⅱ)than bare SPCE.The modified electrode effectively detects Cd(Ⅱ)with a linear response range of up to 333.0μmol/L and a detection limit of 0.65 nmol/L under ideal circumstances.This newly fabricated sensor offers significant potential for environmental monitoring applications by providing outstanding practicality,anti-interference ability,and repeatability for detecting Cd(Ⅱ)in water samples.展开更多

Flow cytometry and quantitative real-time PCR were used to analyze T-box transcription factor(T-bet) and interferon-γ(IFN-γ) expressions in CD4+ T cells,B cells and monocytes from the peripheral blood of AIH-1 patients including 5-1993 TC and 15-1993 TT genotype carriers,and healthy controls including 10-1993 TC and 25-1993 TT genotype carriers. Furthermore,a range of biochemical indices was measured simultaneously in the blood of AIH-1 patients.RESULTS TBX21-1993 C allele created a strong Yin-Yang 1(YY1)-binding site and decreased transcriptional activity of TBX21 promoter in human CD4+ T and B cells.Higher levels of T-bet and IFN-γ were detected in the circulating CD4+ T cells and B cells of AIH-1 patients carrying the TBX21-1993 TT genotype compared with the patients carrying the-1993 TC genotype and controls with the-1993 TC genotype. T-bet expression levels of circulating T cells and B cells were positively correlated with AIH-1 disease activity. Knockdown of YY1 with si RNA caused increased expression of T-bet and IFN-γ in peripheral blood mononuclear cells in AIH-1 patients. CONCLUSION The repression of TBX21 expression by high-affinity binding of YY1 to the-1993 C allele may contribute to a decreased development of AIH-1 via suppression of type 1 immunity.展开更多

DTCs are analyzed as a single group in clinical studies that inv...Objective: Differentiated thyroid carcinomas (DTCs) are classified into papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC). DTCs are analyzed as a single group in clinical studies that investigated the prognostic factors and prognosis of these malignancies. However, the biological behaviors of these carcinomas significantly differ. In the present study, we aimed to detect differences in the outcomes between PTC and FTC in Mansoura University Hospital in Egypt. Methods: A total of SS8 patients with histologically proven thyroid carcinomas from January 2003 to December 2012 were retrospectively enrolled. The clinical and pathological data of patients were reviewed. Results: Large primary tumor size, lymph node involvement, extrathyroid extension, and distant metastasis were significant poor prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) in old PTC patients. Cox hazard analysis showed that the patient's age, extra thyroid extension, and distant metastasis were the only independent prognostic factors. In FTC patients, only the distant metastasis and degree of tumor invasion were significant poor prognostic factors in OS univariate analysis. However, these factors were nonsignificant in multivariate analysis. The 10-year OS rates were 97% and 89% for PTC and FTC, respectively (P=0.003). The 10-year disease-free survival (DFS) rates were 77.2% in PTC vs. 65% in FTC (P=0.179). Conclusion: The significant prognostic factors vary between the two types of DTCs. Therefore, PTC and FTC patients need to be analyzed and reported independently. PTC survival is widely and significantly affected by age, extrathyroid extension, and distant metastasis. By contrast, these factors were nonsignificant in FTC, which showed poorer survival than PTC.展开更多
Currently,18F-FDG coincidence SPECT(Co-SPECT)/CT scan still serves as an important tool for diagnosis,staging,and evaluation of cancer treatment in developing countries.We implemented full physical corrections(FPC) to...Currently,18F-FDG coincidence SPECT(Co-SPECT)/CT scan still serves as an important tool for diagnosis,staging,and evaluation of cancer treatment in developing countries.We implemented full physical corrections(FPC) to Co-SPECT(quantitative Co-SPECT) to improve the image resolution and contrast along with the capability for image quantitation.FPC included attenuation,scatter,resolution recovery,and noise reduction.A standard NEMA phantom filled with 10:1 F-18 activity concentration ratio in spheres and background was utilized to evaluate image performance.Subsequently,15 patients with histologically confirmed thoracic carcinomas were included to undergo a 18 F-FDG Co-SPECT/CT scan followed by a 18 F-FDG PET/CT scan.Functional parameters as SUVmax,SUVmean,SULpeak,and MTV from both quantitative Co-SPECT and PET were analyzed.Image resolution of Co-SPECT for NEMA phantom was improved to reveal the smallest sphere from a diameter of 28 mm to 22 mm(17 mm for PET).The image contrast was enhanced from 1.7 to 6.32(6.69 for PET) with slightly degraded uniformity in background(3.1% vs.6.7%)(5.6% for PET).Patients’ SUVmax,SUVmean,SULpeak,and MTV measured from quantitative Co-SPECT were overall highly correlated with those from PET(r=0.82-0.88).Adjustment of the threshold of SUVmax and SUV to determine SUVmean and MTV did not further change the correlations with PET(r=0.81-0.88).Adding full physical corrections to Co-SPECT images can significantly improve image resolution and contrast to reveal smaller tumor lesions along with the capability to quantify functional parameters like PET/CT.展开更多

A preliminary study of the extraction of long-lived(^(90) Sr and ^(152+154)Eu) and short-lived(^(90) Y) radionuclides by polyglycerol phthalate was performed. The influence of different diluents, concentration of the acid, type of acid, and various interfering ions was explored. The stripping of ^(152+154)Eu radionuclide was studied by using different acid solutions, and it was found that sulfuric acid was the ideal acid for this purpose. Furthermore,^(152+154)Eu was extracted from the fission products(^(90) Sr) and the extraction% of^(90) Sr was found to improve in the presence of interfering ions.展开更多

The main cause of such truck vibrations is the large impact force due to the gravity dumping of large tonnage passes. Therefore a rigorous mathematical model has been developed for the impact force containing all the necessary factors upon which it depends. Latter, a thorough analysis shows that percentage reduction of 7.19%, 9.40%, 13.27%, 14.8%, 17.30% and 18.13% can he achieved by reducing the dumping distance to 6.33 m, 6.0 m, 5.5 m, 5.33 m, 5.0 m and 4.9 m, respectively, as compared to when the dumping distance was 7.33 m. Even more reduction in the magnitude of impact force can he observed if the shovel pass gets divided into more than two sub-passes. Therefore, these models can he used to figure out the number of sub-passes into which a single ore pass can he divided and/or the extent to which the dumping distance can he reduced which would reduce the impact force significantly enough to obtain safer yet economic operations.展开更多
AIM:To monitor the early responses to irradiation in primary and metastatic colorectal cancer(CRC)with 18 Ffluorothymidine(18 F-FLT)and 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose(18 F-FDG)small-animal position emission tomography(micro-...AIM:To monitor the early responses to irradiation in primary and metastatic colorectal cancer(CRC)with 18 Ffluorothymidine(18 F-FLT)and 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose(18 F-FDG)small-animal position emission tomography(micro-PET).METHODS:The primary and metastatic CRC cell lines,SW480 and SW620,were irradiated with 5,10 and 20,l l l,Gy.After 24 h,the cell cycle phases were analyzed.A dual-tumor-bearing mouse model of primary and metastatic cancer was established by injecting SW480 and SW620 cells into mice.micro-PET with 18 F-FLT and 18 F-FDG was performed before and 24 h after irradiation with 5,10 and 20 Gy.The region of interest(ROI)was drawn over the tumor and background to calculate the ratio of tumor to non-tumor(T/NT)in tissues.Immunohistochemical assay and Western blotting were used to examine the levels of integrinβ3,Ki-67,vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2(VEGFR2)and heat shock protein 27(HSP27).RESULTS:The proportion of SW480 and SW620 cells in the G 2-M phase was decreased with an increasing radiation dose.The proportion of SW480 cells in the G 0-G 1 phase was increased from 48.33%±4.55%to 87.09%±7.43%(P<0.001)and that of SW620 cells in the S-phase was elevated from 43.57%±2.65%to 66.59%±7.37%(P=0.021).In micro-PET study,with increasing dose of radiation,18 F-FLT uptake was significantly reduced from 3.65±0.51 to 2.87±0.47(P=0.008)in SW480 tumors and from 2.22±0.42 to 1.76±0.45(P=0.026)in SW620 tumors.18 F-FDG uptake in SW480 and SW620 tumors was reduced but not significantly(F=0.582,P=0.633 vs F=0.273,P=0.845).Dose of radiation was negatively correlated with 18 F-FLT uptake in both SW480 and SW620 tumors(r=-0.727,P=0.004;and r=-0.664,P=0.009).No significant correlation was found between 18 F-FDG uptake and radiation dose in SW480 or SW620 tumors.HSP27 and integrinβ3 expression was higher in SW480 than in SW620 tumors.The T/NT ratio for 18 F-FLT uptake was positively correlated with HSP27 and integrinβ3 expression(r=0.924,P=0.004;and r=0.813,P=0.025).CONCLUSION:18 F-FLT is more suitable than 18 F-FDG in monitoring early responses to irradiation in both primary and metastatic lesions of colorectal cancer.展开更多
文摘Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, accounting for an estimated 22% of all female cancers. It is the leading cause of cancer mortality in women, almost all of which is due to metastases, with 73% of metastases occurring in the bone. In oncology, metastable technetium 99-labelled methylene bisphosphonate bone scintigraphy (BS) remains the standard examination for detecting and assessing the extent of bone metastases. The aim of this study was to assess the role of BS in the evaluation and follow-up of breast cancer in Senegal. Methodology: This was a retrospective study of breast cancer patients who underwent bone scintigraphy with <sup>99m</sup>Tc-HMDP in the nuclear medicine department of Idrissa Pouye General Hospital (IPGHO), from July 2009 to June 2022. Results: We enrolled 165 patients, mean age 46.79 years (27 - 87 years). BS was performed in 94.37% of cases for post-therapeutic monitoring and in 5.63% for pre-therapeutic assessment. Results were contributory in 131 patients (92.25%), of whom 72 cases (50.70%) were normal and 59 cases (41.55%) positive or presenting bone metastases;and non-contributory or doubtful in 11 cases (7.75%). Secondary bone locations were multiple in 57 cases (96.61%) and single or solitary in 2 cases (3.39%). The scintigraphic appearance of bone metastases was hyper-fixative in 58 cases (98.31%) and mixed in 1 case (1.69%). Bone lesions were quantified using the Soloway’s grading classification. Conclusion: BS with <sup>99m</sup>Tc-labelled bisphosphonates remains the examination of choice for skeletal exploration, in the detection and extension of bone metastases in breast cancer. Performance has been enhanced by the development of SPECT coupled with CT (SPECT-CT).
文摘Introduction: The acronym SAPHO (Synovitis, Acne, Pustulosis, Hyperostosis and Osteitis) is a syndrome combining osteoarticular and cutaneous manifestations. It occurs mainly between the ages of 30 and 50. Sternocostoclavicular hyperostosis is one of the main distinguishing features. We report a case of SAPHO in Dakar diagnosed by bone scintigraphy. Observation: 28-year-old Senegalese women presented with left shoulder pain and relative functional impotence for over 2 years. Examination revealed right sternoclavicular hyperostosis and left shoulder pain on palpation. Questioning revealed a history of acne and hyperostosis of the right first toe. Bone scintigraphy, performed after injection of 630 MBq of <sup>99m</sup>Tc-HMDP, revealed: hyperfixation of the bilateral (right++) manubrio-sternal and sternoclavicular junction, producing the classic bull’s horn image;hyperfixation of the left shoulder with an inflammatory appearance;hyperfixation of the sacroiliac joints suggestive of bilateral sacroiliitis;hyperfixation of the right first toe;two mandibular hyper fixations probably related to dental damage. This scintigraphic appearance in one was strongly suggestive of SAPHO syndrome. Conclusion: SAPHO syndrome, related to spondyloarthropathy, associates cutaneous and osteoarticular signs. It is characterized by frequent delays in diagnosis due to poor recognition. Soy is an invaluable diagnostic tool, enabling us to assess the extent of the disease and its evolution.
文摘Objective: Colon cancer is one of the most common human malignancies. Cancer stem cells (CSCs), despite being only a small subset of cancer cells, have the capability to self-renew and sustain the tumor. They also have the ability to proliferate. Multiple CSCs-associated markers have been identified in colon cancer including CD133, ALDH1 and β-catenin. The aim of the work was to study the prognostic value of CSCs markers (CD133, ALDH 1 and β-catenin), as well as their rela- tionship to clinicopathological features of colon cancer. Methods: CD133, ALDH1 and β-catenin proteins expression was as- sessed immunohistochemically in a series of colon cancers and their prognostic significance was evaluated. Results: CD133 expression showed significant relationship to tumor stage and lymph node metastasis (P-value 0.004 & 〈 0.001 respectively), and near significant relationship to liver metastasis (P-value 0.092). ALDH1 was significantly associated with tumor grade, stage and nodal metastasis (P-value 0.021,0.001 and 0.026 respectively), but its relationship to liver metastasis was near sig- nificant (P-value 0.068). Nuclear β-catenin was significantly related to tumor grade, stage, nodal and liver metastasis (P-value 0.001, 〈 0.001, 〈 0.001 and 0.008 respectively). Overall survival (OS) was associated inversely with CD133, ALDH1 positivity, and directly with nuclear 13-catenin posiUvity (P-value 〈 0.001,0.0001 and 〈 0.001 respectively). Also recurrence free survival (RFS) was associated inversely with CD133, ALDH1 and directly with nuclearβ-catenin positivity (P-value 0.0001,0.001 and 〈 0.001 respectively). Conclusion: CD133, ALDH1 and β-catenin expressions of tumor cells have significant impact upon malignant progression of colon cancer and thus patient survival and tumor recurrence. Hence they can be used to predict outcome of colon cancer patients.
文摘The present work aims to achieve a fast and accurate analytical solution of the point kinetics equations applied to subcritical reactors such as ADS (Accelerator-Driven System), assuming a linear reactivity and external source variation. It was used a new set of point kinetics equations for subcritical systems based on the model proposed by Gandini & Salvatores. In this work it was employed the integrating factor method. The analytical solution for the case of interest was obtained by using only an approximation which consists of disregarding the term of the second derivative for neutron density in relation to time when compared with the other terms of the equation. And also, it is proposed an approximation for the upper incomplete gamma function found in the solution in order to make the computational processing faster. In addition, for purposes of validation and comparison a numerical solution was obtained by the finite differences method. Finally, it can be concluded that the obtained solution is accurate and has fast numerical processing time, especially when compared with the results of numerical solution by finite difference. One can also observe that the gamma approximation used achieve a high accuracy for the usual parameters. Thus we got satisfactory results when the solution is applied to practical situations, such as a reactor startup.
文摘In this study, a national survey for establishment of Nuclear Medicine (NM) Dose Reference Levels (DRLs) for adult patients was carried out. The Administrated Activity (AAs) (MBq) was collected from six nuclear medicine departments. Factors influencing the image quality were also observed. The established Sudan National DRLs represent the AA value corresponding to 75th percentile of the AA frequency distribution. Generally, Sudan National DRLs and average AAs are comparable with the papers published in the international literature. All Sudanese DRLs values were found within the international range. While it is noted that the Sudanese DRLs is higher than the values of ARSA except for the MIBI pharmaceuticals that used in both parathyroid and myocardial perfusion scan and for <sup>99m</sup>TcDTPA that used for Dynamic Renal scan study the DRLs values were decreased. In compared with UNSCEAR 2008 data, the average dose (MBq) for Sudanese we note that the bone scan falls within the average values while it’s lower in all other scans except for parathyroid scan in which the AAAs increase more than twice. When compared to BSS 1996, it showed variation in increased and decreased AAAs. There may be potential for reducing the higher values of AAs, in co-operation with Nuclear Medicine staff.
文摘Fennovoima is planning to build a new nuclear power plant unit-Hanhikivi 1, on a greenfield site in Northern Finland. A nearby maritime oil spill accident is one of the external events analysed in the probabilistic risk assessment of the plant. In the worst case, the oil could cause a loss of the ultimate heat sink by blocking the sea water intake screens. By considering the maritime traffic, oil transport and oil spill accident data in the Baltic Sea area, the annual probabilities of nearby, significant oil spills are evaluated. Event tree analysis is used to evaluate the probability that significant amount of oil enters the plant intake tunnel. The spill behaviour is considered, including oil spreading, dissolution, dispersion and movement due to wind and currents. In addition, oil combat measures including the use ofoil booms and skimmers are evaluated.

文摘This work investigated the dynamic behavior of vertical pipes conveying gas-liquid two-phase flow when subjected to external excitations at both ends.Even with minimal excitation amplitude,resonance can occur when the excitation frequency aligns with the natural frequency of the pipe,significantly increasing the degree of operational risk.The governing equation of motion based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam is derived for the relative deflection with stationary simply supported ends,with the effects of the external excitations represented by source terms distributed along the pipe length.The fourth-order partial differential equation is solved via the generalized integral transform technique(GITT),with the solution successfully verified via comparison with results in the literature.A comprehensive analysis of the vibration phenomena and changes in the motion state of the pipe is conducted for three classes of external excitation conditions:same frequency and amplitude(SFSA),same frequency but different amplitudes(SFDA),and different frequencies and amplitudes(DFDA).The numerical results show that with increasing gas volume fraction,the position corresponding to the maximum vibration displacement shifts upward.Compared with conditions without external excitation,the vibration displacement of the pipe conveying two-phase flow under external excitation increases significantly.The frequency of external excitation has a significant effect on the dynamic behavior of a pipe conveying two-phase flow.
文摘The current industrial-scale production of molybdenum-99(^(99)Mo)and iodine-131(^(131)I)is heavily predicated on thermal neutron irradiation of LEU targets.In this route,^(99)Mo and ^(131)I are separated using a solid-phase extraction approach.The goal of this study was to develop and evaluate copolymeric beads that could be used to separate ^(99)Mo and ^(131)I from their aqueous solutions.Different aminated styrenedivinyl benzene co-polymeric beads were successfully manufactured for this approach.The structural features of the synthesized copolymers were characterized.The resin frameworks were found to have homogeneous spherical shapes decorated with a very thin layer of amine moieties.The FT-IR peaks caused by N—H stretching and C—N bending vibrations show the successful functionalization of the resins'surfaces with amine moieties selective for the sorption of I-over Mo O_(4)^(2-)ions.Under various circumstances,the produced resins were assessed for sorption of ^(99)Mo and ^(131)I from their aqueous solutions.They showed an enhanced sorption capability for I-ions compared to MoO_(4)^(2-)ions and attained equilibrium in less than 20 min.Data declare that the sorption of MoO_(4)^(2-)and I-ions onto synthesized resins was attained through an ion exchange process with Cl-ions.In such interactions,one iodide ion(I-)consumes only one active site from the resin surface,while two active sites must be exhausted to retain one MoO_(4)^(2-)ion onto the surface of the resins.The exchange interaction of both MoO_(4)^(2-)and I-ions was an endothermic process.Further,the elution of ^(99)Mo and ^(131)I radioisotopes loaded on synthesized resins was investigated using various eluents.Additional sets of individual and binary dynamic experiments were performed using columns packed with trimethylamine styrene divinyl benzene(TMA-PSDVB)and triethylamine styrene divinyl benzene(TEA-PSDVB)resins.The individual breakthrough sorption capacity of TMA-PSDVB and TEA-PSDVB resins had values of 381.6 and352.6 mg·g^(-1)for ^(131)I and values of 134.7 and 117.2 mg·g^(-1)for ^(99)Mo isotopes,respectively.Furthermore,TMA-PSDVB resin exhibited breakthrough sorption capacity for ^(99)Mo and ^(131)I,in the binary system,amounting to 123.7 and 331.6 mg·g^(-1)with elution percentages reaching 75.4%and 12.1%,respectively.These findings demonstrate that Mo(Ⅵ)ions were efficiently separated from I(Ⅰ)ions.Finally,the reported aminated polymeric resins may be regarded as promising solid phases for the separation and recovery of Mo(Ⅵ)and I(Ⅰ).
文摘This study presents a detailed experimental evaluation of a newly developed mechanistic scale-up methodology for gas-solid fluidized beds.Traditional scale-up approaches typically rely on matching global dimensionless groups,which often fail to ensure local hydrodynamic similarity.In contrast,the new mechanistic method aims to achieve scale-up by matching the radial profiles of gas holdup between geometrically similar beds at corresponding dimensionless axial positions(z/Dc).This approach is based on the premise that when gas holdup profiles align,other key hydrodynamic parameters—such as solids holdup and particle velocity—also become similar.To validate this methodology,experiments were conducted in two fluidized beds with inner diameters of 14 cm and 44 cm.Optical probes and gamma ray densitometry(GRD)were used to measure local gas holdup,solids holdup,and particle velocity at multiple axial and radial positions.The results show that matched gas holdup profiles led to mean absolute deviations(MAD)below 3%in solids holdup and particle velocity,confirming hydrodynamic similarity.In contrast,unmatched profiles resulted in significant deviations across all parameters.

文摘IBI351,a synthetic compound,exerts its anti-tumor effects by specifically,covalently,and irreversibly modifying the 12th cysteine residue of KRAS G12C.However,the pharmacokinetic profile of IBI351 in humans has not yet been reported.The current study aimed to investigate the pharmacokinetics and safety of IBI351 in healthy Chinese male subjects.A single oral dose of 600 mg combined with 150μCi[^(14)C]IBI351 was administered to six healthy male volunteers.Blood,urine,and fecal samples were collected at multiple time points to quantify the parent drug and its metabolites.IBI351 showed favorable pharmacokinetic characteristics and was well tolerated by all participants.Seventeen major metabolites were identified in plasma,urine,and feces.The main metabolic pathways included oxidation,hydrogenation,sulfonate conjugation,glucuronide conjugation,and cysteine conjugation.Excretion of IBI351 and its metabolites occurred mainly through feces.Collectively,this first-in-human study provides essential data on the metabolism and safety of IBI351 in Chinese subjects and lays the foundation for its further clinical development as a novel anti-tumor drug.
文摘Even in small concentrations,toxic metals like lead,cadmium,and mercury are dangerous to the environment and human health.Environmental monitoring depends on precisely identifying these heavy metals,particularly cadmium ions(Cd(Ⅱ)).In this study,we present a novel screen-printed carbon electrode(SPCE)modified with single crystallineα-Fe_(2)O_(3)nano-hexagons that functions as a sensor for detecting Cd(Ⅱ).The performance of the fabricated sensor was thoroughly assessed and compared with unmodified SPCE using the voltammetric method.The crystalline structure of the synthesizedα-Fe_(2)O_(3)nano-hexagons was confirmed through XRD,and surface analysis revealed an average diameter and thickness of 86 nm and 9 nm,respectively.Theα-Fe_(2)O_(3)modified SPCE yields a 7-fold enhanced response(at pH 5.0 vs.Ag/AgCl)to Cd(Ⅱ)than bare SPCE.The modified electrode effectively detects Cd(Ⅱ)with a linear response range of up to 333.0μmol/L and a detection limit of 0.65 nmol/L under ideal circumstances.This newly fabricated sensor offers significant potential for environmental monitoring applications by providing outstanding practicality,anti-interference ability,and repeatability for detecting Cd(Ⅱ)in water samples.

文摘AIM To investigated the mechanism of the association between the TBX21 T-1993 C promoter polymorphism and autoimmune hepatitis type 1(AIH-1) development.METHODS In vivo,In vivo,and reporter analyses were performed to determine the function of transcription factors binding to the T-1993 C element of the TBX21 promoter in human CD4+ T and B cell lines. Flow cytometry and quantitative real-time PCR were used to analyze T-box transcription factor(T-bet) and interferon-γ(IFN-γ) expressions in CD4+ T cells,B cells and monocytes from the peripheral blood of AIH-1 patients including 5-1993 TC and 15-1993 TT genotype carriers,and healthy controls including 10-1993 TC and 25-1993 TT genotype carriers. Furthermore,a range of biochemical indices was measured simultaneously in the blood of AIH-1 patients.RESULTS TBX21-1993 C allele created a strong Yin-Yang 1(YY1)-binding site and decreased transcriptional activity of TBX21 promoter in human CD4+ T and B cells.Higher levels of T-bet and IFN-γ were detected in the circulating CD4+ T cells and B cells of AIH-1 patients carrying the TBX21-1993 TT genotype compared with the patients carrying the-1993 TC genotype and controls with the-1993 TC genotype. T-bet expression levels of circulating T cells and B cells were positively correlated with AIH-1 disease activity. Knockdown of YY1 with si RNA caused increased expression of T-bet and IFN-γ in peripheral blood mononuclear cells in AIH-1 patients. CONCLUSION The repression of TBX21 expression by high-affinity binding of YY1 to the-1993 C allele may contribute to a decreased development of AIH-1 via suppression of type 1 immunity.
文摘Objective: Differentiated thyroid carcinomas (DTCs) are classified into papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC). DTCs are analyzed as a single group in clinical studies that investigated the prognostic factors and prognosis of these malignancies. However, the biological behaviors of these carcinomas significantly differ. In the present study, we aimed to detect differences in the outcomes between PTC and FTC in Mansoura University Hospital in Egypt. Methods: A total of SS8 patients with histologically proven thyroid carcinomas from January 2003 to December 2012 were retrospectively enrolled. The clinical and pathological data of patients were reviewed. Results: Large primary tumor size, lymph node involvement, extrathyroid extension, and distant metastasis were significant poor prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) in old PTC patients. Cox hazard analysis showed that the patient's age, extra thyroid extension, and distant metastasis were the only independent prognostic factors. In FTC patients, only the distant metastasis and degree of tumor invasion were significant poor prognostic factors in OS univariate analysis. However, these factors were nonsignificant in multivariate analysis. The 10-year OS rates were 97% and 89% for PTC and FTC, respectively (P=0.003). The 10-year disease-free survival (DFS) rates were 77.2% in PTC vs. 65% in FTC (P=0.179). Conclusion: The significant prognostic factors vary between the two types of DTCs. Therefore, PTC and FTC patients need to be analyzed and reported independently. PTC survival is widely and significantly affected by age, extrathyroid extension, and distant metastasis. By contrast, these factors were nonsignificant in FTC, which showed poorer survival than PTC.

文摘Currently,18F-FDG coincidence SPECT(Co-SPECT)/CT scan still serves as an important tool for diagnosis,staging,and evaluation of cancer treatment in developing countries.We implemented full physical corrections(FPC) to Co-SPECT(quantitative Co-SPECT) to improve the image resolution and contrast along with the capability for image quantitation.FPC included attenuation,scatter,resolution recovery,and noise reduction.A standard NEMA phantom filled with 10:1 F-18 activity concentration ratio in spheres and background was utilized to evaluate image performance.Subsequently,15 patients with histologically confirmed thoracic carcinomas were included to undergo a 18 F-FDG Co-SPECT/CT scan followed by a 18 F-FDG PET/CT scan.Functional parameters as SUVmax,SUVmean,SULpeak,and MTV from both quantitative Co-SPECT and PET were analyzed.Image resolution of Co-SPECT for NEMA phantom was improved to reveal the smallest sphere from a diameter of 28 mm to 22 mm(17 mm for PET).The image contrast was enhanced from 1.7 to 6.32(6.69 for PET) with slightly degraded uniformity in background(3.1% vs.6.7%)(5.6% for PET).Patients’ SUVmax,SUVmean,SULpeak,and MTV measured from quantitative Co-SPECT were overall highly correlated with those from PET(r=0.82-0.88).Adjustment of the threshold of SUVmax and SUV to determine SUVmean and MTV did not further change the correlations with PET(r=0.81-0.88).Adding full physical corrections to Co-SPECT images can significantly improve image resolution and contrast to reveal smaller tumor lesions along with the capability to quantify functional parameters like PET/CT.
文摘A new polyglycerol phthalate extractant was prepared and characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance(~1H NMR) spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. A preliminary study of the extraction of long-lived(^(90) Sr and ^(152+154)Eu) and short-lived(^(90) Y) radionuclides by polyglycerol phthalate was performed. The influence of different diluents, concentration of the acid, type of acid, and various interfering ions was explored. The stripping of ^(152+154)Eu radionuclide was studied by using different acid solutions, and it was found that sulfuric acid was the ideal acid for this purpose. Furthermore,^(152+154)Eu was extracted from the fission products(^(90) Sr) and the extraction% of^(90) Sr was found to improve in the presence of interfering ions.
文摘When shovels load the dump trucks with over 100-ton passes under gravity dumping conditions, they will create a large impact force on the dump truck body which generates high frequency shock waves which expose the operators to whole body vibrations (WBV). The main cause of such truck vibrations is the large impact force due to the gravity dumping of large tonnage passes. Therefore a rigorous mathematical model has been developed for the impact force containing all the necessary factors upon which it depends. Latter, a thorough analysis shows that percentage reduction of 7.19%, 9.40%, 13.27%, 14.8%, 17.30% and 18.13% can he achieved by reducing the dumping distance to 6.33 m, 6.0 m, 5.5 m, 5.33 m, 5.0 m and 4.9 m, respectively, as compared to when the dumping distance was 7.33 m. Even more reduction in the magnitude of impact force can he observed if the shovel pass gets divided into more than two sub-passes. Therefore, these models can he used to figure out the number of sub-passes into which a single ore pass can he divided and/or the extent to which the dumping distance can he reduced which would reduce the impact force significantly enough to obtain safer yet economic operations.

文摘AIM:To monitor the early responses to irradiation in primary and metastatic colorectal cancer(CRC)with 18 Ffluorothymidine(18 F-FLT)and 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose(18 F-FDG)small-animal position emission tomography(micro-PET).METHODS:The primary and metastatic CRC cell lines,SW480 and SW620,were irradiated with 5,10 and 20,l l l,Gy.After 24 h,the cell cycle phases were analyzed.A dual-tumor-bearing mouse model of primary and metastatic cancer was established by injecting SW480 and SW620 cells into mice.micro-PET with 18 F-FLT and 18 F-FDG was performed before and 24 h after irradiation with 5,10 and 20 Gy.The region of interest(ROI)was drawn over the tumor and background to calculate the ratio of tumor to non-tumor(T/NT)in tissues.Immunohistochemical assay and Western blotting were used to examine the levels of integrinβ3,Ki-67,vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2(VEGFR2)and heat shock protein 27(HSP27).RESULTS:The proportion of SW480 and SW620 cells in the G 2-M phase was decreased with an increasing radiation dose.The proportion of SW480 cells in the G 0-G 1 phase was increased from 48.33%±4.55%to 87.09%±7.43%(P<0.001)and that of SW620 cells in the S-phase was elevated from 43.57%±2.65%to 66.59%±7.37%(P=0.021).In micro-PET study,with increasing dose of radiation,18 F-FLT uptake was significantly reduced from 3.65±0.51 to 2.87±0.47(P=0.008)in SW480 tumors and from 2.22±0.42 to 1.76±0.45(P=0.026)in SW620 tumors.18 F-FDG uptake in SW480 and SW620 tumors was reduced but not significantly(F=0.582,P=0.633 vs F=0.273,P=0.845).Dose of radiation was negatively correlated with 18 F-FLT uptake in both SW480 and SW620 tumors(r=-0.727,P=0.004;and r=-0.664,P=0.009).No significant correlation was found between 18 F-FDG uptake and radiation dose in SW480 or SW620 tumors.HSP27 and integrinβ3 expression was higher in SW480 than in SW620 tumors.The T/NT ratio for 18 F-FLT uptake was positively correlated with HSP27 and integrinβ3 expression(r=0.924,P=0.004;and r=0.813,P=0.025).CONCLUSION:18 F-FLT is more suitable than 18 F-FDG in monitoring early responses to irradiation in both primary and metastatic lesions of colorectal cancer.
