GSLDWOA: A Feature Selection Algorithm for Intrusion Detection Systems in IIoT

Existing feature selection methods for intrusion detection systems in the Industrial Internet of Things often suffer from local optimality and high computational complexity.These challenges hinder traditional IDS from effectively extracting features while maintaining detection accuracy.This paper proposes an industrial Internet ofThings intrusion detection feature selection algorithm based on an improved whale optimization algorithm(GSLDWOA).The aim is to address the problems that feature selection algorithms under high-dimensional data are prone to,such as local optimality,long detection time,and reduced accuracy.First,the initial population’s diversity is increased using the Gaussian Mutation mechanism.Then,Non-linear Shrinking Factor balances global exploration and local development,avoiding premature convergence.Lastly,Variable-step Levy Flight operator and Dynamic Differential Evolution strategy are introduced to improve the algorithm’s search efficiency and convergence accuracy in highdimensional feature space.Experiments on the NSL-KDD and WUSTL-IIoT-2021 datasets demonstrate that the feature subset selected by GSLDWOA significantly improves detection performance.Compared to the traditional WOA algorithm,the detection rate and F1-score increased by 3.68%and 4.12%.On the WUSTL-IIoT-2021 dataset,accuracy,recall,and F1-score all exceed 99.9%. 展开更多

In this paper, we propose an optical burst network architecture supporting the ge- netic mesh topology. The intermediate node architecture of the mesh network can be the same with current wavelength switching Wave- length Division Multiplexing (WDM) net- works, and thus can reuse existing deployed infrastructure. We employ a novel Optical Time Slot Interchange (OTSI) at the source nodes for the first time to mitigate the burst conten- tion and to increase the bandwidth utilization. Time- and wavelength-domain reuse in the OTSI significantly saves optical components and red- uces blocking probability. 展开更多

This paper reports on an experiment about a novel method of polarization stabilization. The polarization stabilizer proposed here has an additional function of polarization transformation from any state of polarization into any others. The particle swarm optimization is introduced as a control algorithm in the process of either searching or endless tracking. The tracking speed of the stabilizer is obtained up to 12.6 krad/s by using hardware we have in the laboratory, which means that we can achieve a higher speed practical polarization stabilizer if we have faster hardware. 展开更多

We investigate the principles of optical phase remodulation and demonstrate its application in a future-proof10 Gb/s/channel wavelength-division-multiplexed(WDM) passive optical network to realize a colorless optical network unit and bidirectional transmission over a single fiber. The modulation depth of downstream differential phase-shift keying is properly reduced to facilitate phase remodulation and Rayleigh noise mitigation. For both downstream and upstream 10 Gb/s signals, error-free transmission via a 20 km single-mode fiber is demonstrated without dispersion compensation operation. 展开更多

An adaptive polarization mode dispersion (PMD) compensation experiment is reported in a 40-Gb/s phase shaped binary transmission (PSBT) communication system, with the use of a new digital signal processor (DSP)-based optical PMD compensator. PMD tolerance is found to be enhanced by 8 ps after PMD compensation with 1-dB optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) penalty. Under the condition of fast change of states of polarization up to 85 rad/s in the fiber link, the performance of our PMD compensator undergoes the bit error ratio (BER) test for as long as 10 h. 展开更多
