Natural basalt stones were adopted as the abrasive for simulation of the abrasion effect of the water flow with bed load, and test results indicate that the basalt stone is suitable for use in the abrasion resistance test of the flexible protective material. The wear process of the polyurea elastomer protective material is stable, and the wear loss is linear with the time of abrasion. If the wear thickness is regarded as the abrasion resistance evaluation factor, the abrasion resistance of the 351 pure polyurea is about twice those of pure polyurea with a high level of hardness and aliphatic polyurea, and over five times that of high-performance abrasion-resistant concrete under the abrasion of the water flow with suspended load. It is also about 50 times that of high-performance abrasion-resistant concrete under the abrasion of the water flow with bed load. Overall, the abrasion resistance of pure polyurea presented a decreasing trend with increasing hardness. Pure polyurea with a Shore hardness of D30 has the best abrasion resistance, which is 60 to 70 times that of high-performance abrasion-resistant concrete under the abrasion of the water flow with bed load, and has been recommended, among the five kinds of pure polyurea materials with different hardness, in anti-abrasion protection of hydraulic structures.展开更多

Based on the measurement of the boundary shear stress, a semi-empirical semi-theoretical computing approach of the boundary shear stress was derived including the effects of the secondary flow, sidewall roughness factor, eddy viscosity and the additional Reynolds stress, and more importantly, for the first time, it combined the effects of the cross-section central angle and the Reynolds number into the expressions. Afterwards, a comparison between the previous research and this study was developed. Following the result, we found that the semi-empirical semi-theoretical boundary shear stress distribution algorithm can predict the boundary shear stress distribution precisely. Finally, a single factor analysis was conducted on the relationship between the average sidewall shear stress on the convex and concave bank and the flow rate, water depth, slope ratio,or the cross-section central angle of the open channel bend. The functional relationship with each of the above factors was established, and then the distance from the location of the extreme sidewall shear stress to the bottom of the open channel was deduced based on the statistical theory.展开更多

Resilience is a major subject of research on disaster prevention and mitigation. This research mainly focuses on the ability of the hydraulic structure to recover from the significant impacts of typhoons. According to the load/unload response ratio theory, the degree of instability by which nonlinear systems can be identified according to the difference between load and unload responses was analyzed. This analysis was used as a basis to study the resilience of a hydraulic structure. Taking the Yangtze River embankments under the impact of Typhoon Matsa as an example, the ability of the typical sections of different types of embankments to adapt to the significant impact of the typhoon, i.e., the resilience of the hydraulic structure, is described with the help of the load/unload response ratio (L). The results of the calculated resilience reflect the actual conditions of the structure and can be used to determine the applicability of the embankment section. The load/unload response ratio theory is one of the effective tools for calculating the resilience of hydraulic structures under the significant impacts of typhoons.展开更多

These marine structures that can not afford the hit of wrack or will destroy the wrack must be well considered when they are placed near harbor and waterway or other water area with ship running. The risk zone should be consulted according to tide and weather conditions to protect structures and ships in necessary.A method is presented here to simulate the risk zone by 2D numerical hydraulic model with tidal current, wave, wind and water depth considered. This model can be used to built early-warning and protect system for special marine structure.展开更多

This study develops a physical model to examine local scour patterns around a novel mono-column composite bucket foundation(MCCBF) under unidirectional flows. The experiments reveal that under weak-flow conditions, no significant scour pits develop at the front or lateral sides of the MCCBF,while two distinct scour pits form behind the lateral sides. Under strong-flow conditions, substantial scour pits emerge at both frontal and lateral sides of the bucket foundation, with two scour pits extending downstream on either side. The research demonstrates that both the range and depth of local scour increase with higher flow velocity and decreasing water depth, though the mechanisms influencing local scour around the MCCBF prove more complex than those affecting monopiles. The distinctive structural features of the MCCBF necessitate particular consideration of effects related to bucket foundation exposure. The study concludes by proposing an empirical formula for predicting maximum scour depth around the MCCBF.展开更多

文摘Vulnerability to natural disasters falls into three categories: exposure, resistance, and resilience, where resilience mainly refers to the capability of a pressure-bearing system to recover by returning to its initial state, that is, the ability to adapt to disaster pressure. The load/unload response ratio theory is one of the effective tools for calculating the resilience of hydraulic structures under the significant impacts of typhoons.
文摘The wrack or the ship out of control will drift with flow. One of the most important factors that drive the ship is flow current which moves circularly in tidal area. The wrack from same place always drifts in different ways if the start time is different. So,during the ship drifting period, the drift trace is also determined by both wave and wind forces. The drift direction is limited by water depth which must be deeper than ship draft. This model can be used to built early-warning and protect system for special marine structure.

文摘Accurate prediction of water level changes in reservoirs is crucial for optimizing the operation of reservoir projects and ensuring their safety. This study proposed a method for reservoir water level prediction based on CEEMDAN-FE and RUN-SVM-RBFNN algorithms.By integrating the adaptive complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise(CEEMDAN)method and fuzzy entropy(FE)with the new and highly efficient Runge–Kuta optimizer(RUN),adaptive parameter optimization for the support vector machine(SVM)and radial basis function neural network(RBFNN)algorithms was achieved.Regression prediction was conducted on the two reconstructed sequences using SVM and RBFNN according to their respective features. This approach improved the accuracy and stability of predictions. In terms of accuracy, the combined model outperformed single models, with the determination coefficient, root mean square error, and mean absolute error values of 0.9975,0.2418 m,and 0.1616 m,respectively. In terms of stability, the model predicted more consistently in training and testing periods, with stable overall prediction accuracy and a better adaptive ability to complex datasets. The case study demonstrated that the combined prediction model effectively addressed the environmental factors affecting reservoir water levels, leveraged the strength of each predictive method, compensated for their limitations, and clarified the impacts of environmental factors on reservoir water levels.
文摘[Objective]The construction of weirs changes the hydraulic characteristics of rivers and affects the structure of phytoplankton communities and the health of aquatic ecosystems in the river. This study aims to explore the nonlinear response relationship between phytoplankton community structure and its driving factors in spring and autumn in Furong Creek under the construction of cascade weirs.[Methods]The structure of phytoplankton communities and related environmental factors were investigated in Furong Creek from 2023 to 2024.This study focused on the analysis of the changes of nutrient concentrations and biomass of phytoplankton in autumn and spring within the same dry season in Furong Creek.Redundancy analysis was used to identify the key factors influencing the structure of phytoplankton communities. The MIKE 11 model was employed to simulate the hydrodynamic changes in the river.Combined with total nitrogen and permanganate index,a GAM model of phytoplankton diversity index and hydrodynamic factors was developed, and the change of phytoplankton diversity after the optimized layout of the cascade weirs was fitted.[Results]The result showed that the annual average value of Shannon-Wiener diversity index of phytoplankton in Furong Creek was 2.79,which was in a state of mild pollution.A total of 239 species from 95 genera in 8 phyla were identified.Among the phytoplankton,Chlorophyta was the dominant group throughout the year in Furong Creek, followed by Bacillariophyta and Cyanophyta. The cell abundance of phytoplankton ranged from 3.11 to 20.64 mg/L and from 0.23 to 6.31 mg/L in spring and autumn, which indicated a clear seasonal succession of phytoplankton community structure.Compared with autumn, the relative abundance of Cyanophyta significantly decreased in spring across the whole river section, while Chrysophyta and Dinophyta showed significant increase at some monitoring sites, leading to water bloom phenomenon and a noticeable decline in the diversity of phytoplankton. The dominant species in the water bodies throughout the year were Cyclotella catenata,Chlorella vulgaris,Scenedesmus bijuga,Scenedesmus quadricauda,Chroomonas acuta,Cryptomonas ovata, and Cryptomonas erosa.Redundancy analysis(RDA)showed that hydrodynamic factors(v,h)and water environmental factors(TN,COD_(Mn))were the main influencing factors of phytoplankton community structure.[Conclusion]The result show that the nutrient concentration, phytoplankton biomass, and density in Furong Creek in spring are significantly higher than in autumn. The GAM model, constructed by combining hydrodynamic and environmental factors, can effectively reflect the nonlinear relationship between phytoplankton diversity index and its driving factors. In spring, with an increase in nutrient concentration, the habitat conditions of low flow speed and high water depths formed by overflow weirs will lead to a decrease in the Shannon-Wiener index of phytoplankton and an intensified risk of eutrophication. However,a reasonable layout scheme of cascade weirs will improve the diversity of phytoplankton and reduce the risk of eutrophication in the river. The findings of this study can help deepen the understanding of the ecological and environmental effects of cascade weir construction in the river.

文摘In channel reservoirs,a quantitative characterization of landslide-generated impulse wave-structure interactions is essential for evaluating potential damage to infrastructure and dams.In this study, the problem of landslide-generated impulse waves that attack a vertical wall was investigated in a wave channel via a smooth particle hydrodynamics(SPH)method coupled with a Chrono model. The results indicated that the longitudinal velocity beneath the leading wave crest of an incident impulse wave deviated significantly from solitary wave theory. Moreover, the variation rate in the vertical velocity along the water column coincided with the theoretical prediction only for small wave amplitudes.Nevertheless, the maximum run-up height of an impulse wave can be accurately predicted via the solitary wave theory. Moreover, the maximum wall force during impulse wave-wall interaction was significantly larger than that during solitary wave reflection, particularly for high incident wave amplitudes.Overall, the present study demonstrated some striking differences in the interactions of landslide-generated impulse waves and solitary waves with a vertical wall.

文摘Ecological water supplement projects have been implemented in many coastal wetlands, influencing saltmarsh vegetation restoration by altering tidal creek development. To clarify the effectiveness of ecological water supplement on tidal creek development and saltmarsh vegetation restoration, time series of high-resolution remote sensing images from2000 to 2021 were used to extract and analyze tidal creeks and saltmarsh vegetation in the Diaokou Estuary Reserve. The results are summarized as follows:(1)All tidal creek indices, except curvature, exhibited a significant linear increase with time, while curvature initially decreased and increased afterwards. The 5-year cumulative ecological water supplement volume was significantly positively correlated(R^(2)>0.7)with all tidal creek indices.(2)During the same period, most landscape pattern metrics of Phragmites australis increased, while those of Tamarix chinensis initially increased and then declined.Although the class area(CA)of Suaeda salsa increased with time, its perimeter-area fractal dimension(PAFRAC)and aggregation index(AI)fluctuated.(3)The CA of P.australis and S.salsa was significantly positively correlated with most tidal creek indices except curvature, while that of T.chinensis showed no significant correlation with any tidal creek index. Moreover, the AI and PAFRAC of P.australis were significantly positively correlated with fractal dimension,frequency/curvature of tidal creeks, respectively, while those of S.salsa and T.chinensis exhibited no significant correlation. In summary, the ecological water supplement project enhanced tidal creek development in coastal wetlands, promoting the restoration of P.australis and S.salsa, while having little impact on the restoration of T.chinensis.

文摘Shoreline erosion has been a pernicious problem facing many countries around the world. It causes the degradation and vulnerability of coastal eco-environments,and imposes considerable pressures upon coastal economic, social developments in the context of climate change and sea-level rising. The muddy coast of the abandoned Yellow River delta at Binhai,Jiangsu Province,China has experienced chronic erosion since 1855 when the Yellow River avulsed to north China.A variety of hard structures, that is,seawall, groin, jetty, breakwater, and so forth were emplaced and reinforced to withstand the shoreline retreat and concomitant beach loss. These engineering solutions have been proved unsuccessful or ineffective in their objectives. An overview is presented on the multi-decadal defense endeavors with technical lessons and management implications learnt.A SHIAA(site-specific,holistic,integrative,adaptive,affordable)tenet is put forward to achieve the sustainability in a coastal erosion mitigation scheme. The merit and limitation of nature-based solutions(NBS)applied in coastal protection is further discussed.

文摘The composite bucket foundations of offshore wind turbines penetrate minimally into the seabed, making local scour a significant threat to wind turbine stability. The study concludes by proposing an empirical formula for predicting maximum scour depth around the MCCBF.

文摘Exploring optimal operational schemes for synergistic development is crucial for sustainable management in river basins. This study introduces a multi-objective synergistic optimization framework aimed at analyzing the interplay among flood control, ecological integrity, and desilting objectives under varying watersediment conditions. The framework encompasses multi-objective reservoir optimal operation, scheme decision, and trade-off analysis among competing objectives. To address the optimization model,an elite mutation-based multiobjective particle swarm optimization(MOPSO)algorithm that integrates genetic algorithms(GA)is developed. The coupling coordination degree is employed for optimal scheme decision-making,allowing for the adjustment of weight ratios to investigate the trade-offs between objectives. This research focuses on the Sanmenxia and Xiaolangdi cascade reservoirs in the Yellow River, utilizing three representative hydrological years:1967,1969,and 2002.The findings reveal that:(1)the proposed model effectively generates Pareto fronts for multi-objective operations, facilitating the recommendation of optimal schemes based on coupling coordination degrees;(2)as water-sediment conditions shift from flooding to drought, competition intensifies between the flood control and desilting objectives. While flood control and ecological objectives compete during flood and dry years, they demonstrate synergies in normal years(r=0.22);conversely,ecological and desilting objectives are consistently competitive across all three typical years, with the strongest competition observed in the normal year(r=-0.95);(3)the advantages conferred to ecological objectives increase as water-sediment conditions shift from flooding to drought. However, the promotion of the desilting objective requires more complex trade-offs.This study provides a model and methodological approach for the multi-objective optimization of flood control, sediment management, and ecological considerations in reservoir clusters. Moreover, the methodologies presented herein can be extended to other water resource systems for multi-objective optimization and decision-making.

文摘Over the past six decades, the implementation of soil and water conservation measures has significantly reduced soil erosion and sediment yield on the Loess Plateau,China. However, while the overall reduction is well-documented,the dynamic interplay between soil erosion potential and sediment connectivity, specifically how they spatially covary under land use/cover changes, remains insufficiently understood. To address this gap, this study established a model framework by integrating the revised universal soil loss equation(RUSLE),index of connectivity(IC),and sediment delivery ratio(SDR)to evaluate the spatio-temporal variations in soil erosion and sediment yield in the Hantaichuan Watershed, northern Loess Plateau,China, from 1995 to 2020 and to estimate the effects of land use/cover changes and check dam construction on sediment yield. The results revealed that the soil erosion in the Hantaichuan Watershed decreased by 43.90% from 1995 to 2020 and the sediment yield decreased by 69.28% under the combination of land use/cover changes and check dam construction. The IC and soil erosion(IC-SE)map revealed both the coupling and decoupling covariation relationships between sediment connectivity and soil erosion.By 2020,areas with high connectivity and high erosion(I-E)covered only 18.67% of the watershed, while contributed more than 40.00% to the total erosion. The I-E zones were mainly located in the central part of the watershed where aeolian sands derived from the Hobq Desert are concentrated and were identified as critical areas for soil and water conservation. This study provides support for priority management of watershed conservation measures as well as a valuable reference for future studies.

文摘Landslide dams,as frequent natural hazards, pose significant risks to human lives, property, and ecological environments. The grading characteristics and density of dam materials play a crucial role in determining the stability of landslide dams and the potential for dam breaches. To explore the failure mechanisms and evolutionary processes of landslide dams with varying soil properties, this study conducted a series of flume experiments, considering different grain compositions and material densities. The results demonstrated that grading characteristics significantly influence landslide dam stability, affecting failure patterns, breach processes, and final breach morphologies.Fine-graded materials exhibited a sequence of surface erosion,head-cut erosion, and subsequent surface erosion during the breach process, while well-graded materials typically experienced head-cut erosion followed by surface erosion. In coarse-graded dams, the high permeability of coarse particles allowed the dam to remain stable,as inflows matched outflows. The dam breach model experiments also showed that increasing material density effectively delayed the breach and reduced peak breach flow discharge.Furthermore, higher fine particle content led to a reduction in the residual dam height and the base slope of the final breach profile, although the relationship between peak breach discharge and the content of fine and coarse particles was nonlinear. To better understand breach morphology evolution under different soil characteristics and hydraulic conditions, three key points were identified—erosion point, control point, and scouring point. This study,by examining the evolution of failure patterns, breach processes, and breach flow discharges under various grading and density conditions, offers valuable insights into the mechanisms behind landslide dam failures.

文摘The sparsity of ground gauges poses a significant challenge for evaluating and merging satellite-based and reanalysis-based precipitation datasets in lake regions. While the standard triple collocation(TC)method offers a solution without access to ground-based observations,it fails to address rain/no-rain classification and its suitability for assessing and merging lake precipitation has not been explored. This study combines categorical triple collocation(CTC)with standard TC to create an integrated framework(CTC-TC)tailored to evaluate and merge global gridded precipitation products(GPPs).We assess the efficacy of CTC-TC using six GPPs(ERA5-Land,SM2 RAIN-ASCAT,IMERG-Early,IMERG-Late,GSMaPMVK,and PERSIANN-CCS)across the five largest freshwater lakes in China.CTC-TC effectively captures the spatial patterns of metrics for all GPPs,and precisely estimates the correlation coefficient and root mean square error for satellite-based datasets apart from SM2 RAIN-ASCAT,but overestimates the classification accuracy indicator V for all GPPs.Regarding multi-source fusion,CTC-TC leverages the strengths of individual products of triplets, resulting in significant improvements in the critical success index(CSI)by over 11.9%and the modified Kling-Gupta efficiency(KGE')by more than 13.3%.Compared to baseline models, including standard TC,simple model averaging, one outlier removal, and Bayesian model averaging,CTC-TC achieves gains in CSI and KGE'of no less than 24.7%and 3.6%,respectively.In conclusion, the CTC-TC framework offers a thorough evaluation and efficient fusion of GPPs,addressing both categorical and continuous accuracy in data-scarce regions such as lakes.
