NOMA is able to contribute to the improvement ofthe tradeoff between system capacity and user fairness(i.e., cell-edge user experience). This improvement becomes in particularemphasized in a cellular system where the channel conditions vary significantly among users due to the near-far effect. In this arti-cle, we provide an overview of the concept, design and performance of NOMA. In addition, we review the potential benefits and is-sues of NOMA over orthogonal multiple access(OMA) such as orthogonal frequency division multiple access(OFDMA) adoptedby LTE, and the status of 3GPP standardization related to NOMA.展开更多

Each loop antenna is paired with a reflector while each dipole antenna is paired with a director and a reflector. The proposed antenna is intended for an indoor base station (BS) with resonance frequency of 2.4 GHz and capable of producing four orthogonal directional pattern with downward elevation angle equals to 30°;and half power bandwidth (HPBW) less than 80°;in both vertical and horizontal polarization. The reflection characteristics of the loop and dipole arrays are less than -10 dB and the mutual coupling between the vertical and horizontal polarization elements is nearly less than -20 dB. In later progress, the dipole antenna was substituted with printed dipole antenna to achieve a better performance. Both the calculated and measured results demonstrated that the desired radiation patterns were achieved, and the measured results agreed well with the calculated ones. Consequently, a low profile antenna with a thickness of 0.16 λ (20 mm) having the expected radiation pattern is successfully designed.展开更多

However, many people in the modem world feel that they are deficient in face-to-face communication. So, we feel that it is necessary to support their face-to-face communication using information technologies. We have developed a topic-providing system that can infer behaviors from daily life and provides users with information about their conversation partner, including that on his hometown, hobbies and life logs when face-to-face communication is initiated. The life logs are details about a user's life, and are generated using a Bayesian network on the basis of sensor data provided by our system. This system enables users to access other users' information of behaviors from the accumulated life logs and it utilizes this infbrmation to generate topics for conversation. We evaluated the accuracy with which proposal system inferred behaviors to confirm whether exact life log generation is possible. And we also evaluated the proposed system by administering a questionnaire to confirm whether the proposed system can support face-to-face communication.展开更多
