Influence of the Kerr Effect on the Optical Force Acting on the Dielectric Particle 被引量:1

Basing on the necessary condition for the trapping dielectric particle by the Gaussian beam, the Kerr effect in the tweezers with the nonlinear particle or the nonlinear medium is proposed to concern. The expressions of the optical forces concerned with the Kerr effect, which affects the refractive index of the medium, are presented. The distribution of the optical forces in the trapping region is simulated and discussed. The results show that the stability of the tweezers depends on the nonlinear coefficient of refractive index, and the optical tweezers could be broken down with a critical value of the nonlinear coefficient of refractive index of the surrounding medium, or with a critical value of the laser intensity, duration of laser pulse, and radius of beam waist. Moreover, these results give us the explanation the stability of the optical tweezers used for the trapped object as biological molecule embedded in the fluid, which is sensitive with Kerr effect. 展开更多

The Spin-Spin Interaction and the New Concept of Photon

After researching carefully the well known M. Planck’s law of the black-body radiation, the quantum theory of field and the Einstein’s postulates about interaction of the photon with the atoms, there are a lot of unclear questions about photon and its interaction with atom. From all the above questions, there are three main following questions: Why does the energy of a light mode include zero-point energy? Where does the first photon come from in universe? and What is the first fact as a reason of absorption, emission in the photon-atom interaction? To find out the acceptable answers, here we propose postulates about the zero-photon and then about the new concepts of photon. Using them, we have tried to describe the basic characters of the photon and explain the photon-atom interaction in other way: the spin-spin interaction. Our results showed out the different picture of mechanism of the photon-atom interaction, the existence of the zero-photon energy, the absorption as well as the emission rule and its probabilities. 展开更多

Two Models of Optical Pulse Self-Compressor Combined the Nonlinear Coupler with Backward Raman Fiber Amplifier

Based on the nonlinearity of the nonlinear optical coupler (NOC) and the amplifying capacity of the backward Raman fiber amplifier (PBRFA), two new optical systems to compress the optical pulse (Optical Pulse Self-Compressor: OPSC) are proposed. Using the expressions describing relationship between input and output intensities from ports of the NOC and the derived expression describing the amplification of the PBRFA, the compressing process of the optical pulse propagating through the OPSC is simulated. The results show that the peak of the optical pulse will be enhanced and the duration of the optical pulse will be reduced significantly. Consequently, the shape of input pulse is completely compressed with the certain efficiency. It means the optical pulse is self-compressed without the external pump pulse by proposing the OPSC. 展开更多

Up to now there are many works investigated the stretched state of deoxyribonucleic axid (DNA) by optical trap. The main purpose of mentioned works is to find out the elastic force-extension characterisitic approximatelly based on the experimental parameters. In experiments, the optical force is seem as an apply force, but not an own elastic force of DNA molecules. To use sufficiently optical tweezer to manipulate and hold the DNA molecules keeping in stretched state, it is necessary to use the elastic as one force contributing to process trapping it, and consequently, the term describing elastic force must be present in the general Langevin equation (GLE) describing the dynamic of driven bead linking to DNA molecule. In this paper, the finite difference equation of GLE is derived for simulation the dynamic of bead linking to DNA molecule embedded in the fluid. The process manipulation of polystyrene bead to tweezer center is simulated and discussed. From results, the role of Brownian force, elastic force and optical force on process trapping driven bead is evaluated. Moreover, the trapping time, velocity of bead are discussed, too. 展开更多

Based on the "called" acoustic-elasticity of the fluid embedding trapped microparticle, the expression describing the refractive index induced by cross-interference of two perpendicular ultrasonic waves is approximately derived. By simulation, the 2D array of the Graded-refractive index lenses appeared in the fluid layer with certain strain-acoustic constant and thickness. The trapping capability of the plane-wave laser beam propagating through those lenses is shown out, and the appearance of the optical trap 2D array has been affirmed. 展开更多
