Objective To investigate three representative conditions, gallbladder colic, renal colic, and primary dysmenorrhea,to identify trends and regularities in acupoint selection and provide evidence-based references for clinical practice. Methods Clinical studies on acupuncture for gallbladder colic, renal colic, and primary dysmenorrhea published between 2006 and 2025 were retrieved from the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Chinese Scientific Journal Database(VIP),Wanfang, and PubMed.Bibliometric analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Modeler 18.0,and the Apriori algorithm was applied to evaluate acupoint-use patterns. Results The analysis demonstrated that commonly selected acupoints for these conditions have remained relatively consistent over the past two decades.Frequently used acupoints for gallbladder colic included Yanglingquan(GB 34),Dannang(EX-LE 6),Qiuxu(GB 40),Taichong(LR 3),Danshu(BL 19),Zusanli(ST 36),Qimen(LR 14),Riyue(GB 24),and Ganshu(BL 18).For renal colic, the most frequently reported points were Shenshu(BL 23),Sanyinjiao(SP 6),Zusanli(ST 36),Yinlingquan(SP 9),Jingmen(GB 25),Guanyuan(CV 4),Ashi points,Zhongji(CV 3),and Pangguangshu(BL 28).The main acupoints for primary dysmenorrhea were Sanyinjiao(SP 6),Guanyuan(CV 4),Ciliao(BL 32),Diji(SP 8),Shiqizhui(EX-B 8),Zhongji(CV 3),Zusanli(ST 36),Zigong(EX-CA 1),and Qihai(CV 6).On average, treatment protocols employed 3-4 acupoints per session. Conclusions The most frequently selected acupoints for visceral smooth muscle spasmodic pain were located within the ganglion segment innervation areas, showing close association with the target organs.Furthermore, treatment protocols typically involved a small number of acupoints. These findings highlight the need for further systematic research, particularly randomized controlled trials,to validate and strengthen the evidence base. 展开更多

Acupuncture can improve the cognitive state of Alzheimer's disease, but its mechanism is not clear. Dendritic atrophy and synaptic loss in Alzheimer's disease brain are positively correlated with cognitive damage. Therefore, we speculated that the effect of acupuncture on improving cognitive function may be associated with reduced dendritic damage in the brain. Acupuncture at Qihai(CV6), Zhongwan(CV12), Danzhong(CV17), bilateral Zusanli(ST36), and bilateral Xuehai(SP10) acupoints was performed once a day(1-day rest after 6-day treatment) for 14 consecutive days. Senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8(SAMP8) mice without acupuncture and senescence-accelerated mouse resistant 1(SAMR1) mice were used as normal controls. After 14 days of treatment, spatial learning and memory ability of mice was assessed in each group using the Morris water maze. Dendritic changes of pyramidal cells in the hippocampal CA1 region were analyzed by quantitative Golgi staining. Our results showed that acupuncture shortened escape latency and lengthened retention time of the former platform quadrant in SAMP8 mice. Further, SAMP8 mice exhibited a significant increase in the number of apical and basal dendritic branches and total length of apical and basal dendrites after acupuncture. These results suggest that acupuncture improves spatial learning and memory ability of middle-aged SAMP8 mice by ameliorating dendritic structure.Acupuncture can improve the cognitive state of Alzheimer's disease, but its mechanism is not clear. Different acupuncture ma- nipulations and durations may result in different therapeutic effects. In the present study, the Neig uan (PC6) acupoint of rats with occluded middle cerebral arteries was needled at a fixed frequency (3 Hz) with different durations, i.e., 5, 60 and 180 seconds under a twisting-rotating acupuncture method. Results showed that different durations of acupuncture had different therapeutic effects, with 60 seconds yielding a better therapeutic effect than the other two groups. This duration of treatment demonstrated rapid cerebral blood flow, encouraging recovery of neurological function, and small cerebral infarct volume. Experimental findings indicated that under 3 Hz frequency, the treatment of needling Neiguan for 60 seconds is effective for ischemic stroke. 展开更多

Objective: To investigate the local initiation role of local exosomes of acupoints in acupuncture analgesic effect. Methods: Thirty-two rats with adjuvant arthritis were randomly divided into model group(Group CFA),model + electroacupuncture group(Group EA), model + antagonist + electroacupuncture group(Group GW4869 + EA), and model + dimethyl sulfoxide + electroacupuncture group(Group DMSO + EA), with 8 rats in each group. The model rat s of adjuvant arthritis were prepared by intradermal injection of 0.1 mL of Freund’s adjuvant complete into the metatarsal of the right posterior foot to induce inflammation. No intervention was given in Group CFA, while electroacupuncture was performed in the other three groups at 'Zúsānlǐ(足三里 ST 36, bilaterally)' and 'Huántiào(环跳 GB 30, bilaterally)' of the rats with the following electroacupuncture parameters: dilatational wave with a frequency of 2/10 Hz, an intensity of 5/10/15(0.76/1.53/2.3 mA), a duration of 30 min, and an intensity increasing every 10 min. In Group DMSO + EA, DMSO(with a concentration of 0.2%, 50μL/acupoint) was injected at bilateral 'ST 36' of the model rats one hour before electroacupuncture, while GW4869(with a concentration of 3 mg/mL,50μL/acupoint) was injected at bilateral ST 36 of the model rats one hour before electroacupuncture in Group GW4869 + EA. The paw withdrawal latency(PWL) was used as the therapeutic effect index. Results: The PWL of rats in each group at Hour 24 after modeling was significantly lower than that before modeling, indicating that the models were successfully established. After the electroacupuncture treatment, the PWL of rats showed an increasing trend in all groups. The PWL of Group GW4869 + EA(6.74 ±1.09)s was lower than that of Group EA(7.72 ±1.54)s on Day 1 after injection, but the difference was not statistically significant(P> 0.05). The PWL values of Group GW4869 + EA(7.72 ±0.70)s,(7.87 ± 0.58)s were significantly lower than those of Group EA(9.96 士 0.94)s,(9.66 ±0.96)s(both P< 0.05)on Days 2 and 3 after injection, and the differences were statistically significant. Conclusion: It was preliminarily found that acupuncture analgesic effect was significantly reduced after local exosomes of acupoints were blocked, indicating that local exosomes of acupoints may be involved in the initiation process of acupuncture effect. 展开更多

The individual difference and non-repeatability in acupuncture have not only restricted the devel- opment of acupuncture, but have also affected the specificity of acupoints. The present study used instruments to control needle depth, lifting and thrusting frequency, and the duration of acupuncture. Effects of the quantified acupuncture were observed at Neiguan (PC6) with different stimulation parameters. A frequency of 1, 2, or 3 Hz and duration of 5, 60, or 180 seconds were used to observe cerebral blood flow and ratio of infarct volume recovery. Results showed that stimulation at Neiguan with a frequency of 1 Hz and long duration of 180 seconds or 2/3 Hz and long duration of 5/60 seconds significantly increased cerebral blood flow and decreased the ratio of infarct volume. In- teractions between frequency and duration play a critical role in quantified acupuncture therapy. 展开更多

Excess activation and expression of large-conductance Ca^2+-activated K^+ channels(BKCa channels) may be an important mechanism for delayed neuronal death after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. Electroacupuncture can regulate BKCa channels after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury, but the precise mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we established a rat model of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. Model rats received electroacupuncture of 1 m A and 2 Hz at Shuigou(GV26) for 10 minutes, once every 12 hours for a total of six times in 72 hours. We found that in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury rats, ischemic changes in the cerebral cortex were mitigated after electroacupuncture. Moreover, BKCa channel protein and m RNA expression were reduced in the cerebral cortex and neurological function noticeably improved. These changes did not occur after electroacupuncture at a non-acupoint(5 mm lateral to the left side of Shuigou). Thus, our findings indicate that electroacupuncture at Shuigou improves neurological function in rats following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury, and may be associated with down-regulation of BKCa channel protein and m RNA expression. Additionally, our results suggest that the Shuigou acupoint has functional specificity. 展开更多
