Brain tumor segmentation from Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)supports neurologists and radiologists in analyzing tumors and developing personalized treatment plans, making it a crucial yet challenging task.Supervised models such as 3D U-Net perform well in this domain, but their accuracy significantly improves with appropriate preprocessing. This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of preprocessing in brain tumor segmentation by applying a pre-segmentation step based on the Generalized Gaussian Mixture Model(GGMM)to T1 contrastenhanced MRI scans from the BraTS 2020 dataset. The Expectation-Maximization(EM)algorithm is employed to estimate parameters for four tissue classes, generating a new pre-segmented channel that enhances the training and performance of the 3DU-Net model. The proposed GGMM+3D U-Net framework achieved a Dice coefficient of 0.88 for whole tumor segmentation, outperforming both the standard multiscale 3D U-Net(0.84)and MMU-Net(0.85).It also delivered higher Intersection over Union(IoU)scores compared to models trained without preprocessing or with simpler GMM-based segmentation. These results, supported by qualitative visualizations, suggest that GGMM-based preprocessing should be integrated into brain tumor segmentation pipelines to optimize performance. 展开更多

The stability control of longwall coalface is the key technology of large-cutting-height mining method. Therefore,a systematic study of the factors that affect coalface stability and its control technology is required in the development of large-cutting-height mining method in China. After the practical field observation and years of study,it was found that the more than 95% of failures in coalface are shear failure. The shear failure analysis model of coalface has been established, that can perform systematic study among factors such as mining height, coal mass strength, roof load, support resistance, and face flipper protecting plate horizontal force. Meanwhile, sensitivity analysis of factors influencing coalface stability showed that improving support capacity, cohesion of coal mass and decreasing roof load of coalface are the key to improve coalface stability. Numerical simulation of the factors affecting coalface stability has been performed using UDEC software and the results are consistent with the theoretical analysis. The coalface reinforcement technology of large-cutting-height mining method using the grouting combined with coir rope is presented. Laboratory tests have been carried out to verify its reinforcement effect and practical application has been implemented in several coal mines with good results. It has now become the main technology to reduce longwall coalface failure of large-cutting-height mining method. 展开更多

Flotation is the most common method to obtain concentrate through the selective adsorption of collectors on target minerals to make them hydrophobic and floatable. In the hydrometallurgy of concentrate, collectors adsorbed on concentrate can damage ion-exchange resin and increase the chemical oxygen demand(COD)value of wastewater. In this work,we proposed a new scheme,i.e.,desorbing the collectors from concentrate in ore dressing plant and reusing them in flotation flowsheet.Lead nitrate and benzohydroxamic acid(Pb-BHA)complex is a common collector in scheelite flotation. In this study, different physical(stirring or ultrasonic waves)and chemical(strong acid or alkali environment)methods for facilitating the desorption of Pb-BHA collector from scheelite concentrate were explored.Single-mineral desorption tests showed that under the condition of pulp pH 13 and ultrasonic treatment for 15 min,the highest desorption rates of Pb and BHA from the scheelite concentrate were 90.48%and 63.75%,respectively.Run-of-mine ore flotation tests revealed that the reuse of desorbed Pb and BHA reduced the collector dosage by 30%for BHA and 25%for Pb.The strong alkali environment broke the chemical bonds between Pb and BHA.The cavitation effect of ultrasonic waves effectively reduced the interaction intensity between Pb-BHA collector and scheelite surfaces. This method combining ultrasonic waves and strong alkali environment can effectively desorb the collectors from concentrate and provide“clean”scheelite concentrate for metallurgic plants;the reuse of desorbed collector in flotation flowsheet can reduce reagent cost for ore dressing plants. 展开更多

This work is a simulation model with the LAMMPS calculation code of an electrode based on alkali metal oxides (lithium, sodium and potassium) using the Lennard Jones potential. For a multiplicity of 8*8*8, we studied a gap-free model using molecular dynamics. Physical quantities such as volume and pressure of the Na-O and Li-O systems exhibit similar behaviors around the thermodynamic ensembles NPT and NVE. However, for the Na2O system, at a minimum temperature value, we observe a range of total energy values;in contrast, for the Li2O system, a minimum energy corresponds to a range of temperatures. Finally, for physicochemical properties, we studied the diffusion coefficient and activation energy of lithium and potassium oxides around their melting temperatures. The order of magnitude of the diffusion coefficients is given by the relation Dli-O >DNa-O for the multiplicity 8*8*8, while for the activation energy, the order is well reversed EaNa-O > EaLi-O. 展开更多

The concrete mixed to sugarcane bagasse fibers and polypropylene fibers prepared with varied conditions were presented. The aim of our study is to formulate a concrete mixed with sugarcane bagasse fibers, which will gradually replace the conventional polypropylene fibers often used. We formulated all our concretes using the dreux gorisse method. We used an oven calibrated at 105˚C to dry the washed fibers. We also carried out tensile splitting and compression tests, at 28 and 112 days of age. The reinforcement mechanisms of sugarcane bagasse fibers and polypropylene fibers concretes were subjected to tensile splitting and compression tests after total immersion of the specimens in tap water at 28 and 112 days. Porosity at 28 days, mass loss and drying shrinkage at 80 days were also studied. The curing processes of concretes containing 0.10, 0.15, 0.17, 0.23 and 0.25% bagasse fibers were compared with those of ordinary concretes containing no fiber. The results showed that the addition of bagasse fibers reduces mechanical strength and porosity. In summary, specimens SBC-0.15 and SBC-0.17 showed the best results for all fibers. We plan to do the same work, but this time with raffia or palm nut fibers. 展开更多

The depositional environment of the sands of the cover formation is discussed. This study aims to determine the paleoenvironments of deposition of the sands of the cover formation in the Batéké Plateaus by studying sedimentary dynamics based on the description of lithological facies in the field and granulometric analyses in the laboratory. In the field, six (6) lithostratigraphic logs were surveyed and 42 sand samples were taken for laboratory analysis. In the laboratory, the samples underwent granulometric, sieving and sedimentometry analyses, after washing with running water using a 63 µm sieve. These analyses made it possible to determine the granulometric classes of the samples. The sieving results allowed to determine the granulometric parameters (mean, standard deviation, mode, median, skewness, flattening or kurtosis) using the method of moments with the software “Gradistat V.8”, granulometric parameters with which the granulometric facies, the mode of transport and the deposition environment were determined using the diagrams. Morphoscopy made it possible to determine the form and aspect of the surface of the quartz grains constituting these sands. Granulometric analyses show that these silty-clay or clayey-silty sands are fine sands and rarely medium sands, moderately to well sorted and rarely well sorted. The dominant granulometric facies is hyperbolic (sigmoid), with parabolic facies being rare. The primary mode of transport of these sands is saltation, which dominates rolling. The dispersion of points in the diagrams shows that these sands originate from two depositional environments: aeolian and fluvial. Morphoscopic analysis reveals the presence of clean rounded matt grains (RM), dirty rounded matt grains (RS), shiny blunt grains (EL) and shiny rounded grains (RL). The rounded matt grains exhibit several impact marks. The presence of dirty rounded grains with a ferruginous cement on their surface indicates that these sands have been reworked. These sands have undergone two types of transport, first by wind (aeolian environment) and then by water (fluvial environment). 展开更多

This study aims to characterize from a geotechnical point of view, the soils as well as the lateritic gravels along the Songololo-Lufu road route in the Kongo Central Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Ten soil samples and eight lateritic gravel samples were analysed and tested in the laboratory. For each sample, identification parameters were determined such as particle size analysis, natural water content, Atterberg limits (plasticity index and consistency index), but also compaction and lift parameters such as optimal water content, maximum dry density and CBR lift index. All materials and soils have been classified according to the Congolese Road Standard (NRC) and according to the American HRB classification. The test results show us that clay soils almost always contain between 70% and 90% fine fraction;the grained fraction represents less than 30% in clay samples. For lateritic gravels soils, the percentage of fine elements varies between 35% and 15%;in sand around 20%;the gravelly fraction represents a little more than 50% of the soil. The majority of soil facies encountered define a plasticity index lower than 15. As for the consistency index, we obtained values greater than 1, both for clayey soils and for gravelly soils. The classification according to NRC defined for these soils the types Ae1 and Ae2 for the clayey facies and the types GL1 and GL2 for the gravelly soils, while that of the HRB identified the classes and subclasses A-6 and A-7-6 for clayey soils, and subclass A-2-6 for gravelly soils. The optimal water content values obtained range between 10.2% and 23.10%;the maximum dry densities are between 1.66 and 2.07 t/m3 and the CBR index is between 6 and 26. As for the lateritic gravels materials of the Songololo region, the percentage of fine elements generally remains between 12% and 31%;the plasticity index is between 8 and 18;the optimal dry density is around 2 t/m3;the optimal water content is between 9.8% and 14.5% and the CBR index is between 27 and 82. The Songololo-Lufu lateritic gravels are characteristic of laterites in the savannah region, with a high gravel fraction at the expense of the fine fraction, but low parameters such as the liquid limit and plasticity index. 展开更多

Five equal size columns were used for the leaching of the ore. Sulfuric acid solution with a flow rate of 3.12 L·m-2·h-1 and pH 1.5 passed through each column continuously for 90 d. In the first and the second column, bioleaching was performed without agglomeration of the ore and on the agglomerated ore, respectively. 28wt% of the copper was extracted in the first column after 40 d, while this figure was 38wt% in the second column. After 90 d, however, the overall extractions were almost the same for both of them. Bioleaching with mesophilic bacteria was performed in the third column without agglomeration of the ore and in the fourth column on the agglomerated ore. After 40 d, copper extractions in the third and the fourth columns were 62wt% and 70wt%, respectively. Copper extractions were 75wt% for both the columns after 90 d. For the last column, bioleaching was performed with moderate thermophilic bacteria and agglomerated ore. Copper extractions were 80wt% and 85wt% after 40 and 90 d, respectively. It was concluded that crushing and agglomeration of the ore using bacteria could enhance the copper extraction considerably. 展开更多

The microstructures of a Cu-Cr alloy cast in a water-cooled copper mold were studied in the present work. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results show that there are the copper matrix saturated with chromium, spherical precipitates of chromium separated from liquid phase during cooling before the initiation of so- lidification, and a eutectic phase in grain boundary areas. To investigate the effect of age-hardening treatment on the microstructures and properties of the material, some samples were subsequently age-hardened in a salt bath and investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results show that coherent precipitates with the diameter of 11 nm are detectable in the samples before and after the age-hardening stage. Of course, the volume fraction of coherent precipitates is higher after the aging process. 展开更多

By employing numerical modeling, similar material simulation and comprehen-sive field observation, investigations were made and patterns were obtained governing surrounding-rock stress distribution and strata behaviors. It shows that patterns governing displacement of FMC roadway surrounding rocks and those governing deformation of supports are basically the same along the strike, but the displacements vary greatly. The front stresses affect greater areas than the lateral stresses and their limit widths of equilib-rium zones and K are almost similar. The stress transmits very deep. Our findings offer scientific basis on which to determine parameters for coal pillar retaining and for roadway out-laying, thus increasing the recovery ratio and improving the maintenance of roadway. 展开更多

On fully-mechanized faces in nearly horizontal thin coal seams (NHTCS), the selection of the auxiliary transportation mode is difficult. Generally, auxiliary transportation mainly includes trackless or rail transportation. Combined with a familiar NHTCS fully-mechanized face, a multi-attribute decision- making model was set up for the decision. The index weight was objectively determined with the fuzzy number and entropy method. The priority order of auxiliary transportation modes was obtained from the Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE). The results show that: the net flow of the mode can be expressed by the function of the surrounding rock deformation of the roadway, the dimension of equipment and the thickness of the coal seam; Based on the cost type index, there is a positive correlation between the net flow with the height and width of the trackless auxiliary transportation equipment, respectively. The trackless auxiliary transportation equipment selection principle should be "height first then width". Combined with the field application of the trackless auxil- iary transportation in Liangshuijing coal mine, the proper method to achieve the safe and high-efficient exploitation of a NHTCS fully-mechanized face is trackless tvred vehicle auxiliary transportation. 展开更多

The effect of calcination temperature on the pozzolanic activity of maize straw stem ash(MSSA)was evaluated. The MSSA samples calcined at temperature values of 500,700,and 850℃ were dissolved in portlandite solution for 6 h,thereby obtaining residual samples. The MSSA and MSSA residual samples were analyzed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray powder diffraction scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to determine vibration bonds, minerals, microstructures, and Si 2p transformation behavior. The conductivity,pH value, and loss of conductivity with dissolving time of the MSSA-portlandite mixed solution were also determined. The main oxide composition of MSSA was silica and potassium oxide. The dissolution of the Si^(4+) content of MSSA at 500℃ was higher than those of the other calcination temperatures. The conductivity and loss of conductivity of MSSA at 700℃ were higher than those of the other calcination temperatures at a particular dissolving time due to the higher KCl content in MSSA at 700℃.C-S-H was easily identified in MSSA samples using X-ray powder diffraction, and small cubic and nearly spherical particles of C-S-H were found in the MSSA residual samples. In conclusion, the optimum calcination temperature of MSSA having the best pozzolanic activity is 500℃,but excessive agglomeration must be prevented. 展开更多

The identification of anomalies within stream sediment geochemical data is one of the fastest developing areas in mineral exploration. The various means used to achieve this objective make use of either continuous or discrete field models of stream sediment geochemical data.To map anomalies in a discrete field model of such data, two corrections are required:background correction and downstream dilution correction.Topography and geomorphology are important factors in variations of element content in stream sediments. However, few studies have considered, through the use of digital terrain analysis, the influence of geomorphic features in downstream dilution correction of stream sediment geochemical data. This study proposes and demonstrates an improvement to the traditional downstream dilution correction equation, based on the use of digital terrain analysis to map single-element anomalies in stream sediment geochemical landscapes. Moreover, this study compares the results of analyses using discrete and continuous field models of stream sediment geochemical data from the Xincang area,Xizang. The efficiency of the proposed methodology was validated against known mineral occurrences. The results indicate that catchment-based analysis outperforms interpolation-based analysis of stream sediment geochemical data for anomaly mapping.Meanwhile, the proposed modified downstream dilution correction equation proved more effective than the original equation. However, further testing of this modified downstream dilution correction is needed in other areas,in order to investigate its efficiency further. 展开更多

Identifying the ecological environment suitable for the growth of Thuja sutchuenensis and predicting other potential distribution areas are essential to protect this endangered species. After selecting 24 environmental factors thatcould affect the distribution of T. sutchuenensis, including climate, topography, soil and Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI), we adopted the Random Forest-MaxEnt integrated model to analyze our data. Basedon the Random Forest study, the contribution of the mean temperature of the warmest quarter, mean temperatureof the coldest quarter, annual mean temperature and mean temperature of the driest quarter was large. Based onMaxEnt model prediction outputs, the potential distribution map not only identified areas that originallyrecorded T. sutchuenensis, such as Xuanhan County, Kai County and Chengkou County, but also identified highlysuitable distribution areas where T. sutchuenensis may exist, including Wanyuan County, Sichuan Province, andthe junction of Chongqing and Hubei Province. This provides a more explicit geographic range for ex situ conservation and reintroduction of T. sutchuenensis. Our results also indicate that, in addition to climate factors, topography and soil factors are also important environmental factors that affect distribution. This provides a theoretical basis for subsequent laboratory construction to simulate the indoor growth of T. sutchuenensis. 展开更多

Accurate prediction of the internal corrosion rates of oil and gas pipelines could be an effective way to prevent pipeline leaks. In this study,a proposed framework for predicting corrosion rates under a small sample of metal corrosion data in the laboratory was developed to provide a new perspective on how to solve the problem of pipeline corrosion under the condition of insufficient real samples. This approach employed the bagging algorithm to construct a strong learner by integrating several KNN learners.A total of 99 data were collected and split into training and test set with a 9:1 ratio. The training set was used to obtain the best hyperparameters by 10-fold cross-validation and grid search, and the test set was used to determine the performance of the model. The results showed that theMean Absolute Error(MAE)of this framework is 28.06%of the traditional model and outperforms other ensemblemethods. Therefore, the proposed framework is suitable formetal corrosion prediction under small sample conditions. 展开更多

A granulometric, mineralogical, morphoscopic and exoscopic study and Rock-Eval analysis carried out on samples taken in the Loango Bay and at Kivesso on the Congolese coast have made it possible to highlight the highly erosive character of the well-documented wet phases ca 9000 - 3000 years B.P. and ca 320 B.P. in the sub-region. Supported by carbon-14 dating, total organic carbon analyses highlight two major phases of peat deposit emplacement. The first, ca. 7000 years B.P., corresponds to the beginning of the deposition of the yellow formation in the entire Loango Bay;the second, ca. 320 years B.P., is contemporary with the deposition of peat in the Kivesso sector. The granulometric analysis of the sediments shows that they are essentially sandy-clay and very poor in silt, alternating with beds of silty clay sometimes rich in organic matter. These sands have a predominant mode of 0.200 mm and an average varying between 0.150 and 0.300 mm. They constitute the flood phase of the carrier current. They are associated with a population of mode 0.125 mm sometimes 0.050 mm with an average varying between 0.100 mm and 0.126 mm which corresponds to the settling phase. Morphoscopic examination showed several varieties of quartz that argue for a source of supply close to the depositional sites. 展开更多

This work is the subject of the biostratigraphic and palaeoenvironmental study of the North Deep Sea area of the Congolese Miocene Atlantic Basin. This study is made from samples of lateral cores, drill cuttings and electrical logs. Lithology generally exhibits an irregular alternation of weakly indurated grey clay, light grey siltstones, and whitish, quartzitic sand, medium to coarse-grained, sub-angular to rounded. The presence of glaucony indicates that sediments have been deposited in a calm and reducing environment. The entire formation is fossiliferous. Micropaleontological analysis revealed 120 species of foraminifera including 98 planktonic (81.67%) and 22 benthic (18.33%) species used for biozonation, dating and interpretation of palaeoenvironments. Similarly, the bio-events of plankton foraminiferal, characterized by the level of the first appearance of certain species, have made it possible to identify fifteen biozones (Globorotalia plesiotumida, Globorotalia merotumida, Globorotalia acostaensis, Globorotalia menardii, Globigerina nepenthes, Globorotalia siakensis, Globorotalia fohsi, Globorotalia praefohsi, Globorotalia peripheroacuta, Globorotalia peripheroronda, Praeorbulina sicana, Catapsydrax dissimilis, Globigerinatella insueta, Paragloborotalia kugleri and Globorotalia kugleri) corresponding to age between Aquitanian and Lower Pliocene. Biofacies analysis of foraminifera has identified palaeoenvironments that vary from open marine environments, bathyal to abyssal. <br /> 展开更多

Zatua Hills are located in the northeastern part of the DR Congo in Haut Uélé Province, formerly known as Province Orientale. This part of DR Congo is identified by the high elevated zone, which has remained a witness to a stable zone not affected by the ancient erosion process. BIFs are most abundant and are dated to the Neoarchaean and Late Kibalian, hosted in the Upper Congo Granites Massifs of the DR. Congo. Zatua Hills consist of dolerite, phyllade, clay-rich sediment, poor itabirite, enriched BIFs, friable hematite, hard hematite, and mineralized and unmineralized breccias. Field study and geochemistry analysis by XRF, XRD, and ICP-MS are executed in order to know the geochemistry signature and paragenesis of Zatua Hills and the probably process could lead the BIFs to iron ore. The geochemistry analysis by XRF, XRD, and ICP-MS shows that Iron ore content has an iron rate between 57% and 69% with less deleterious elements such as Si, P, and Al. These deleterious elements are secondary and have silicium composition (probably quartz or chert, goethite, and Kaolinite), aluminum (probably gibbsite, variscite, cadwaladérite, goethite, and Kaolinite), phosphorous (probably variscite), and hydrated minerals, which are grown LOI in the samples. Hypogen and supergen processes are played in BIFs for iron ore conversion and, respectively, silica dissolution and leaching. Metamorphism was also impacted and marked by the Ti element (anatase) in samples, contributing to the crystallization of martite to hematite after magnetite oxidation. 展开更多
