The authors formulated the optimization problem as mixed integer linear programming. The model considers the main factors for optimizing the production plan of overall refinery related to the use of run-modes of processing units. The aim of this planning is to decide which run-mode to use in each processing unit in each period of a given horizon, to satisfy the demand, such as the total cost of production and inventory is minimized. The resulting model can be regarded as a generalized lot-sizing problem where a run-mode can produce and consume more than one product. The resulting optimization problem is large-sized and NP-hard. The authors have proposed a column generation-based algorithm called branch-and-price (BP) for solving the interested optimization problem. The model and implementation of the algorithm are described in detail in this article. The computational results verify the effectiveness of the proposed model and the solution method.展开更多

This work presents a trajectory tracking control method for snake robots.This method eliminates the influence of time-varying interferences on the body and reduces the offset error of a robot with a predetermined traj...This work presents a trajectory tracking control method for snake robots.This method eliminates the influence of time-varying interferences on the body and reduces the offset error of a robot with a predetermined trajectory.The optimized line-of-sight(LOS)guidance strategy drives the robot’s steering angle to maintain its anti-sideslip ability by predicting position errors and interferences.Then,the predictions of system parameters and viscous friction coefficients can compensate for the joint torque control input.The compensation is adopted to enhance the compatibility of a robot within ever-changing environments.Simulation and experimental outcomes show that our work can decrease the fluctuation peak of the tracking errors,reduce adjustment time,and improve accuracy.展开更多

In contrast to the Poisson, s arri...A queueing model of the Markov-modulated Poisson process (MMPP) with thresholds was investigated. The customer arrival with various arrival rates in the model was viewed as the MMPP. In contrast to the Poisson, s arrival process, the MMPP can better describe the situation that the arrival rate changes with changing conditions;therefore, the model fits better with reality. The threshold conversion was added to the model based on the general MMPP/M/C model. When the number of customers in the system exceeds a threshold, all servers work to serve;when the number of customers in the system is less than another threshold, some servers are shut down. This is the congestion-based staffing policy with two thresholds. Specifically, the problems in the slab stocking stage of slab production at the Iron and Steel Complex in China were analysed. In the slab production process, because the rate of the upstream steelmaking is not constant, the rate of slab reaching the slab yard is uncertain. The crane service is used to store slabs in a warehouse. Because the slab arrival rate varies, different numbers of cranes in service need to be optimized for cost control. Thus, MMPP was used to describe slab arrival with varied arrival rates. Therefore, an MMPP/M/C queue with thresholds was used to analyse and solve the practical problems, and the optimal number of service cranes was obtained to minimize the cost of slab stocking.展开更多

A four-ball tester was used to evaluate the tribological performance of the additive in a mineral oil under different loads and lubricant greas...The oil-soluble cadmium dipropyldithiophosphate additive was synthesized. A four-ball tester was used to evaluate the tribological performance of the additive in a mineral oil under different loads and lubricant grease synthesized compared with some commercial additives. The results show that it exhibits excellent antiwear and load-carrying capacities and is better than other additives. The surface analytical tools such as scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS) were used to investigate the topography, the compositions, and chemical states of some typical elements on the rubbing surface of worn scar.Smooth and light topography of worn scar further confirms that the additive shows good antiwear capacities. The results of EDX and XPS analyses indicate that tribochemical mixed protective films consisting of atomic cadmium, sulphides, sulphates and phosphates are formed on the rubbing surface, which contribute to improving the tribological properties of lubricant and grease. Particularly, the soft cadmium film formed plays an important role in improving antiwear properties of oils. Finally, antiwear mechanism of the additive and formation scheme of atomic cadmium was proposed.展开更多
The surface performances of directly fluorinated high density polyethylene (HDPE) are studied with Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and contact angle (CA) system. ...The surface performances of directly fluorinated high density polyethylene (HDPE) are studied with Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and contact angle (CA) system. The SEM images show that there is a three-layer structure called the reaction, virgin and boundary layer structure. The depth of fluorinated layer is 5.75 ~m with 1 h fluorination time and 7.86 b^m with 2 h. The depths are 5.46 /~m and 5.07 /~m when fluorine density is 2G and 1~/0, respectively. CA indicates that the HDPE surface property becomes more hydrophobic with the increasing water contact angle from 78.5~ to 104.5~. Oleophobic and hydrophobic features of HDPE are identified by comparison of mass change experiments. It is shown that the in- crement rate of fluorinated HDPE is much lower than that of un-fluorinated HDPE filled in neither distilled water nor jet fuel.展开更多

The inpatient bed allocation that allows beds shared among different departments is an important and challenging problem for a healthcare system. When the objective function(s) and (some) constraints need to be estima...The inpatient bed allocation that allows beds shared among different departments is an important and challenging problem for a healthcare system. When the objective function(s) and (some) constraints need to be estimated via expensive and noisy stochastic simulation, a simulation optimization algorithm is required to solve this problem. In literature, there is a heuristic algorithm highly customized for one specific inpatient bed allocation problem, and it performs quite well on that problem. However, its lack of theoretical convergence and high specialization may not give practitioners enough confidence to apply it on real inpatient bed allocation problems. To mitigate such issues, this paper proposes to use the empirical stochastic branch-and-bound (ESB&B) algorithm, which is theoretically convergent and suitable for relatively general problems. A modest improvement for the original ESB&B algorithm is made and how to adapt the ESB&B algorithm to inpatient bed allocation problems is presented. Numerical experiments reveal the generality and fairly satisfying performance of the ESB&B algorithm, and the superiority of the improved ESB&B algorithm over the original one.展开更多

We study the statistical properties of obtained SAA estimators. In particular we show that under moderate conditions a sequence of weak stationary points of SAA programs converge to a weak stationary point of the true problem with probability approaching one at exponential rate as the sample size tends to infinity. To implement the SAA method more efficiently, we incorporate the method with some techniques such as Scholtes' regularization method and the well known smoothing NCP method. Nonlinear convex cone programming(NCCP)models have found many practical applications.In this paper,we introduce a flexible first-order primal-dual algorithm,called the variant auxiliary problem principle(VAPP),for sol...Nonlinear convex cone programming(NCCP)models have found many practical applications.In this paper,we introduce a flexible first-order primal-dual algorithm,called the variant auxiliary problem principle(VAPP),for solving NCCP problems when the objective function and constraints are convex but may be nonsmooth.At each iteration,VAPP generates a nonlinear approximation of the primal augmented Lagrangian model.The approximation incorporates both linearization and a distance-like proximal term,and then the iterations of VAPP are shown to possess a decomposition property for NCCP.Motivated by recent applications in big data analytics,there has been a growing interest in the convergence rate analysis of algorithms with parallel computing capabilities for large scale optimization problems.We establish O(1/t)convergence rate towards primal optimality,feasibility and dual optimality.By adaptively setting parameters at different iterations,we show an O(1/t2)rate for the strongly convex case.Finally,we discuss some issues in the implementation of VAPP.展开更多

The complex was characterized with element analysis, UV and IR spectra. The crystal structure was determined by using X ray diffraction analysis. The crystal structure shows that Cu(II) and its coordinated atoms construct distorted octahedron configuration with oxygen atoms of (ClO - 4) s in the axial directions. The coordinated cations are linked by (ClO - 4) s to form nonplanar sheets. All sheets are linked together into three dimensional network by the intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The result of the activity assay indicates that the complex does have certain biological activity.展开更多

Solving a quantified constraint satisfaction problem(QCSP)is usually a hard task due to its computational complexity.Exact algorithms play an important role in solving this problem,among which backtrack algorithms are...Solving a quantified constraint satisfaction problem(QCSP)is usually a hard task due to its computational complexity.Exact algorithms play an important role in solving this problem,among which backtrack algorithms are effective.In a backtrack algorithm,an important step is assigning a variable by a chosen value when exploiting a branch,and thus a good value selection rule may speed up greatly.In this paper,we propose two value selection rules for existentially and universally quantified variables,respectively,to avoid unnecessary searching.The rule for universally quantified variables is prior to trying failure values in previous branches,and the rule for existentially quantified variables selects the promising values first.Two rules are integrated into the state-of-the-art QCSP solver,i.e.,QCSP-Solve,which is an exact solver based on backtracking.We perform a number of experiments to evaluate improvements brought by our rules.From computational results,we can conclude that the new value selection rules speed up the solver by 5 times on average and 30 times at most.We also show both rules perform well particularly on instances with existentially and universally quantified variables occurring alternatively.展开更多

文摘Nonlinear convex cone programming(NCCP)models have found many practical applications.In this paper,we introduce a flexible first-order primal-dual algorithm,called the variant auxiliary problem principle(VAPP),for solving NCCP problems when the objective function and constraints are convex but may be nonsmooth.At each iteration,VAPP generates a nonlinear approximation of the primal augmented Lagrangian model.The approximation incorporates both linearization and a distance-like proximal term,and then the iterations of VAPP are shown to possess a decomposition property for NCCP.Motivated by recent applications in big data analytics,there has been a growing interest in the convergence rate analysis of algorithms with parallel computing capabilities for large scale optimization problems.We establish O(1/t)convergence rate towards primal optimality,feasibility and dual optimality.By adaptively setting parameters at different iterations,we show an O(1/t2)rate for the strongly convex case.Finally,we discuss some issues in the implementation of VAPP.

文摘1 Introduction Megaprojects are a critical aspect of socio-economic development that can have huge effects on local communities,the environment,society,politics,or locals9 way of life(Zeng et al.,2015;Denicol et al.,2020).Megaproject social responsibility(MSR)refers to “the policies and practices of stakeholders through the whole project lifecycle that reflect responsibilities for the well-being of the wide society”(Zeng et al.,2015).MSR governance refers to socially responsible actions of relevant stakeholders to alleviate and eliminate a megaprojecfs negative effects on socio-economic and environmental outcomes during the megaprojecfs entire lifecycle(Lin et al.,2017;Ma et al.,2017).

文摘With N,N′ bis(benzimidazol 2 yl methyl)amine as the ligand, a novel Cu(II) dinuclear complex was synthesized as a mimetic compound of superoxide dismutase (SOD). The complex was characterized with element analysis, UV and IR spectra. The crystal structure was determined by using X ray diffraction analysis. The crystal structure shows that Cu(II) and its coordinated atoms construct distorted octahedron configuration with oxygen atoms of (ClO - 4) s in the axial directions. The coordinated cations are linked by (ClO - 4) s to form nonplanar sheets. All sheets are linked together into three dimensional network by the intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The result of the activity assay indicates that the complex does have certain biological activity.

文摘In this paper, we use the variational method to study the efficiency loss of user equilibrium for the multi-class, multi-criterion traffic equilibrium with general tolls and a discrete set of value of. time. By introducing three important parameters k1, k2, k3, we derive several bounds of price of anarchy for this problem when tolls are considered and not considered as part of the system cost, with the cost-based criterion.

文摘Solving a quantified constraint satisfaction problem(QCSP)is usually a hard task due to its computational complexity.Exact algorithms play an important role in solving this problem,among which backtrack algorithms are effective.In a backtrack algorithm,an important step is assigning a variable by a chosen value when exploiting a branch,and thus a good value selection rule may speed up greatly.In this paper,we propose two value selection rules for existentially and universally quantified variables,respectively,to avoid unnecessary searching.The rule for universally quantified variables is prior to trying failure values in previous branches,and the rule for existentially quantified variables selects the promising values first.Two rules are integrated into the state-of-the-art QCSP solver,i.e.,QCSP-Solve,which is an exact solver based on backtracking.We perform a number of experiments to evaluate improvements brought by our rules.From computational results,we can conclude that the new value selection rules speed up the solver by 5 times on average and 30 times at most.We also show both rules perform well particularly on instances with existentially and universally quantified variables occurring alternatively.
