This research is framed within the affective computing, which explains the importance of emotions in human cognition (decision making, perception, interaction and human intelligence). Applying this approach to a pedagogical agent is an essential part to enhance the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process of an intelligent learning system. This work focuses on the design of the inference engine that will give life to the interface, where the latter is represented by a pedagogical agent. The inference engine is based on an affective-motivational model. This model is implemented by using artificial intelligence technique called fuzzy cognitive maps. 展开更多

This contribution is dedicated to the celebration of Rémi Abgrall’s accomplishments in Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing during the conference“Essentially Hyperbolic Problems:Unconventional Numerics,and Applications”.With respect to classical Finite Elements Methods,Trefftz methods are unconventional methods because of the way the basis functions are generated.Trefftz discontinuous Galerkin(TDG)methods have recently shown potential for numerical approximation of transport equations[6,26]with vectorial exponential modes.This paper focuses on a proof of the approximation properties of these exponential solutions.We show that vectorial exponential functions can achieve high order convergence.The fundamental part of the proof consists in proving that a certain rectangular matrix has maximal rank. 展开更多

By the year 2026, it is estimated that the number of smartphone users in Mexico will be approximately 118.1 million. Each smartphone has the functionality of sending and receiving SMS (Short Message Service) messages, which pose a significant threat to all users, as it makes any device vulnerable to a malware attack. In particular, worm-type malware takes advantage of this means of communication in order to spread. Studying the dynamics of malware propagation can help understand and prevent massive contagion between mobile devices. In this work, a model based on Network Automata and compartmental epidemiological models is presented, aiming to simulate, analyze and study the spread of worm-like malware through sending SMS on smartphones. 展开更多

Sentiment lexicons(SL)(aka lexical resources)are the repositories of one or several dictionaries that consist of known and precompiled sentiment terms.These lexicons play an important role in performing several different opinion mining tasks.The efficacy of the lexicon-based approaches in performing opinion mining(OM)tasks solely depends on selecting an appropriate opinion lexicon to analyze the text.Therefore,one has to explore the available sentiment lexicons and then select the most suitable resource.Among available resources,SentiWordNet(SWN)is the most widely used lexicon to perform tasks related to opinion mining.In SWN,each synset of WordNet is being assigned the three sentiment numerical scores;positive,negative and objective that are calculated using by a set of classifiers.In this paper,a detailed and comprehensive review of the work related to opinion mining using Senti-WordNet is provided in a very distinctive way.This survey will be useful for the researchers contributing to the field of opinion mining.Following features make our contribution worthwhile and unique among the reviews of similar kind:(i)our review classifies the existing literature with respect to opinion mining tasks and subtasks(ii)it covers a very different outlook of the opinion mining field by providing in-depth discussions of the existing works at different granularity levels(word,sentences,document,aspect,clause,and concept levels)(iii)this state-ofart review covers each article in the following dimensions:the designated task performed,granularity level of the task completed,results obtained,and feature dimensions,and(iv)lastly it concludes the summary of the related articles according to the granularity levels,publishing years,related tasks(or subtasks),and types of classifiers used.In the end,major challenges and tasks related to lexicon-based approaches towards opinion mining are also discussed. 展开更多

Discrete Duality Finite Volume Discretization of the Thermal-P_(N) Radiative Transfer Equations on General Meshes

The discrete duality finite volume method has proven to be a practical tool for discretizing partial differential equations coming from a wide variety of areas of physics on nearly arbitrary meshes.The main ingredients of the method are:(1)use of three meshes,(2)use of the Gauss-Green theorem for the approximation of derivatives,(3)discrete integration by parts.In this article we propose to extend this method to the coupled grey thermal-P_(N) radiative transfer equations in Cartesian and cylindrical coordinates in order to be able to deal with two-dimensional Lagrangian approximations of the interaction of matter with radiation.The stability under a Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy condition and the preservation of the diffusion asymptotic limit are proved while the experimental second-order accuracy is observed with manufactured solutions.Several numerical experiments are reported which show the good behavior of the method. 展开更多

The DDFV(Discrete Duality Finite Volume)method is a finite volume scheme mainly dedicated to diffusion problems,with some outstanding properties.This scheme has been found to be one of the most accurate finite volume methods for diffusion problems.In the present paper,we propose a new monotonic extension of DDFV,which can handle discontinuous tensorial diffusion coefficient.Moreover,we compare its performance to a diamond type method with an original interpolation method relying on polynomial reconstructions.Monotonicity is achieved by adapting the method of Gao et al[A finite volume element scheme with a monotonicity correction for anisotropic diffusion problems on general quadrilateral meshes]to our schemes.Such a technique does not require the positiveness of the secondary unknowns.We show that the two new methods are second-order accurate and are indeed monotonic on some challenging benchmarks as a Fokker-Planck problem. 展开更多
