The geometry optimization and three dimensional (3D) modeling of the above mentioned species have been made on CAChe pro software. The results show: (i) The involvement of three p atomic orbitals is negligible as their summation values are very low in comparison to d orbital and considerably low with respect to s orbital. (ii) The study well support the Landis concepts of sdn-hybridation (here n = 1) as bond angle and contributions of s-orbital and d-orbital of Pt(II) are maximum with negligible contribution of p-orbitals. (iii) These halides also support the cloud-expanding effect with experimental data and also follow the nephelauxetic effect. The result is in good agreement with experiment results that covalent character increases in the order: PtI2 > PtBr2 > PtCl2 > PtF2. (iv) And thus the study will help to fine tune the existing complexes of these halides.展开更多

METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed for patients undergoing colonoscopy for suspected ileocolonic tuberculosis between January 2000 and June 2004, in whom retrograde ileoscopy had been performed. Only patients diagnosed with tuberculosis on the basis of histological findings of either a caseating granuloma or those having non-caseating granuloma or a collection of epithelioid cells at a minimum of one endoscopic lesion (either in the colon or the terminal ileum) on histology with good responses to conventional anti-tuberculous drugs were enrolled for the study. RESULTS: Fifty-three patients were included. The terminal ileum was involved in only 11 patients. Eight of these patients had involvement of the cecum too. Two patients had ileal lesions without cecal involvement; however, lesions were noted in the ascending colon. In one patient the whole colon was normal and only the terminal ileum showed nodularity and ulceration. Histological examination of the ileal biopsies obtained from the ileal lesions showed noncaseating granulomas in five, collection of epithelioid cells in four and nonspecific histology in two patients. Mucosal biopsies obtained from the lesion in the terminal ileum, in the patient in whom mucosal abnormality was observed to be confined to the ileum, showed noncaseating granulomas. In two other patients the ileal biopsies alone showed histological evidence of tuberculosis with biopsies from the colonic lesions showing non-specific inflammatory changes only. CONCLUSION: Retrograde ileoscopy should be performed in all patients undergoing colonoscopy for suspected ileocolonic tuberculosis. In some patients only the terminal ileum may be involved and histological examination may reveal evidence of tuberculosis only from the lesions in the terminal ileum. This approach would lead to additional lesions being picked up andincreasing the chances of well-timed diagnosis of tuberculosis.展开更多

It has been implicated in the causation of various gastric disorders including gastric cancer. The geographical distribution and etiology of gastric cancer differ widely in different geographical regions and H. pylori, despite being labeled as a grade I carcinogen, has not been found to be associated with gastric cancer in many areas. Studies in Asian countries such as Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabian countries, Israel and Malaysia, have reported a high frequency of H. pylori infection co-existing with a low incidence of gastric cancer. In India, a difference in the prevalence of H. pylori infection and gastric cancer has been noted even in different regions of the country leading to a puzzle when attempting to find the causes of these variations. This puzzle of H. pylori distribution and gastric cancer epidemiology is known as the Indian enigma. In this review we have attempted to explain the Indian enigma using evidence from various Indian studies and from around the globe. This review covers aspects of epidemiology, the various biological strains present in different parts of the country and within individuals, the status of different H. pylori-related diseases and the molecular pathogenesis of the bacterium.展开更多

To assess the causes of ileocecal mass in patients with amebic liver abscess. METHODS: Patients with amebic liver abscess and ileocecal mass were carefully examined and investigated by contrast-enhanced CT scan followed by colonoscopy and histological examination of biopsy materials from lesions during colonoscopy. RESULTS: Ileocecal masses were found in seventeen patients with amebic liver abscess. The cause of the mass was ameboma in 14 patients, cecal tuberculosis in 2 patients and adenocarcinoma of the cecum in 1 patient. Colonic ulcers were noted in five of the six (83%) patients with active diarrhea at presentation. The ileocecal mass in all these patients was ameboma. Ulcers were seen in only one of the 11 (9%) patients without diarrhea. The difference was statistically significant from the group with diarrhea (P〈 0.005). CONCLUSION: Ileocecal mass is not an uncommon finding in patients with amebic liver abscess. Although, the ileocecal mass is due to ameboma formation in most cases, it should not be assumed that this is the case in all patients. Colonoscopy and histological examination of the target biopsies are mandatory to avoid missing a more sinister lesion.展开更多

METHODS: Between January 1997 and March 2005, 39 hematochezia patients (males 36, females 3, mean age 44.7 years) with a reported normal colonoscopy underwent a repeat colonoscopy. After reaching the cecum, attempt was made to localize the ileocecal valve and intubate the terminal ileum. Any abnormality in the mucosa of the terminal ileum was carefully recorded and biopsies were obtained from suspiciouslooking lesions. RESULTS: During the study period there were 39 patients admitted for hematochezia in whom colonoscopy till cecum did not reveal any abnormality. Fulllength colonoscopy till the cecum could be performed in all the patients. The terminal ileum could be intubated in 36 patients. No abnormality was noted in 31 patients. Ileal ulcers were noted in two patients. Noclularity along with ulceration of the ileal mucosa, a Dieulafoy's lesion, and an angiomatous malformation were noted in one patient each. Histological examination of the biopsies obtained from the ulcers revealed typical tuberculous lesion in the patient with nodularity and ulceration. One of the patients had typhoid ulcers and another had non-specific ulcers. CONCLUSION: Retrograde terminal ileoscopy gives limited but valuable information, in patients with hematochezia and should be attempted in all such patients.展开更多

CONCLUSION: Retrograde terminal ileoscopy gives limited but valuable information, in patients with hematochezia and should be attempted in all such patients.
文摘Objective:To evaluate antidiabetic activity of chloroform extracts of Acacia arabica bark, Benincasa hispida fruit,Tinispora cordifolia stem,Ocimum sanctum areal parts and Jatropha curcus leaves. Methods:The chloroform extracts of Acacia arabica bark,Benincasa hispida fruit,Tinospora cordifolia stem, aerial part of Ocimum sanctum and Jatropha curcus leaves were evaluated at different doses(250 and 500 mg/kg body weight.) for antidiabetic potentials in alloxan induced diabetic albino rats. The extracts were administered for two weeks in different groups whereas tolbutamide(80 mg/kg body weight) was used as reference standard throughout study. Results:The result of present study showed test compounds significantly decreases elevated level of serum glucose and also caused to reverse the cholesterol, triglyceride,HDL and LDL values when compared to untreated diabetic rats. Conclusions:Our finding indicates that different test extracts were able to ameliorate the derangements in lipid metabolism caused by diabetes mellitus in alloxan induced diabetic rats towards normal level.
文摘Objective:To isolate and characterize antidiabetic component(bioactivity-guided fractionation) from hydro alcoholic extract of Ocimum sanctum(O.sanctum) aerial part. Methods:Ten fractions(F1 - F10) were isolated from hydro alcoholic extract of O.sanctum aerial part by column chromatography. All the fractions Fl to F10 were screened for antidiabetic activity in alloxan induced diabetic rats by estimating serum glucose level and lipid parameters. The isolated bioactive component was elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic(UV,IR,MS,1H and 13C NMR) data analysis. Results:The bioactive fraction(F5) was found to be potent antidiabetic by ameliorating glucose and lipid parameters(total cholesterol, triglycerides, low and high density lipoprotein cholesterol). The extensive spectroscopic data analysis reveals that, the isolated bioactive compound elucidated as tetracyclic triterpenoid[16-Hydroxy-4,4,10,13-tetramethyl- 17-(4-methyI-pentyl)-hexadecahydro-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-3-one].Conclusions:Our present study concluded that, tetracyclic triterpenoid isolated from aerial part of O.sanctum has a great anti-diabetic potential.

文摘COVID-19,being the virus of fear and anxiety,is one of the most recent and emergent of various respiratory disorders. It is similar to the MERS-COV and SARS-COV,the viruses that affected a large population of different countries in the year 2012 and 2002,respectively.Various standard models have been used for COVID-19 epidemic prediction but they suffered from low accuracy due to lesser data availability and a high level of uncertainty. The proposed approach used a machine learning-based time-series Facebook NeuralProphet model for prediction of the number of death as well as confirmed cases and compared it with Poisson Distribution, and Random Forest Model. The analysis upon dataset has been performed considering the time duration from January 1st 2020 to16th July 2021.The model has been developed to obtain the forecast values till September 2021.This study aimed to determine the pandemic prediction of COVID-19 in the second wave of coronavirus in India using the latest Time-Series model to observe and predict the coronavirus pandemic situation across the country. In India, the cases are rapidly increasing day-by-day since mid of Feb 2021.The prediction of death rate using the proposed model has a good ability to forecast the COVID-19 dataset essentially in the second wave.To empower the prediction for future validation, the proposed model works effectively.
