In BaLn_2Mn_2O_7 there appear many phases, depending on the synthetic conditions for each rare earth. The tetragonal phase of so-called Ruddlesden-Popper type is the fundamental structure and many kinds of deformed modification of this structure are obtained. For BaEu_2Mn_2O_7 at least five phases have been identified from the results of X-ray diffraction analysis with the space group P4_2/mnm, Fmmm, Immm and A2/m in addition to the fundamental tetragonal I4/mmm phase. In the pyrochlore-related type compounds, Ln_2Mn_(2-x)M_xO_7 (M=Ta, Nb, W etc), there also appear several phases with different crystal structures. With regard to every rare earth, Ln_2MnTaO_7 phase is stable only for excess Ta and can be obtained under high oxygen partial pressure process. This group has trigonal structure with zirkelite type (P3_121 space group). On the other hand Ln_2Mn_(2/3)Nb_(4/3)O_7 phase has monoclinic (C2/c space group) and zirconolite type structure. All of these structural models have the fundamental structure based on HTB (hexagonal tungsten bronze) layers formed by the arrangement of oxygen octahedra.展开更多

The phosphorescence can be seen with the naked eye in the dark clearly ev...A novel white light emitting long-lasting phosphor Cd1-xDyxSiO3 is reported in this letter. The Dy3+ doped CdSiO3 phosphor emits white light. The phosphorescence can be seen with the naked eye in the dark clearly even after the 254 nm UV irradiation have been removed for about 30 min. In the emission spectrum of 5% Dy3+ doped CdSiO3 phosphor, there are two emission peaks of Dy3+, 580 nm (4F9/26H13/2) and 486 nm (4F9/26H15/2), as well as a broad band emission located at about 410 nm. All the three emissions form a white light with CIE chromaticity coordinates x=0.3874, y=0.3760 and the color temperature is 4000 K under 254 nm excitation. It indicated that this phosphor is a promising new luminescent material for practice application.展开更多

The CNTS were refluxed in a solution of nitric acid containing europium nitrate, and the pH value was subsequently ajusted with ammonia solution. At last, the mixture was filtered and annealed. The TEM micrograph showed that the CNTS were covered with a uniform thin layer with thickness of about 15 nm. The XRD results revealed that the CNTS were coated with europium oxide.展开更多

The impurity peaks in XRD patterns were not determined. The result of SEM confirmed that the average sizes and shape of the BaLiF3 nanocrystals. The formation of BaLiF3 and particles size were strongly affected by water content. With increasing water content and reaction times, the size of the particle increases. Meanwhile, the solvent was also found to play a key role in the synthesis of the BaLiF3 nanocrystals.展开更多

Some of these phases were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction method using Rietveld analysis. These phases have only a little difference in crystal structure which has fundamentally K 2NiF 4 type structure, although the X-ray diffraction patterns are clearly different: a little deformation or tilting of the oxygen octahedron surrounding a central manganese ion composing the main frame of this structure induce these different diffraction patterns. Phase behavior of these compounds, mainly the detailed relation between various phases in BaTb 2Mn 2O 7, was refined including the data of high temperature X-ray diffractometry.展开更多

Polyoxometallates Co(en) 3PMo 12O 40·8H 2O(+,-)[abbreviated as PMo 12-Co(+,-)], nanoparticles were synthesized by the chemical precipitation reaction at room temperature for the first time. They were c...Polyoxometallates Co(en) 3PMo 12O 40·8H 2O(+,-)[abbreviated as PMo 12-Co(+,-)], nanoparticles were synthesized by the chemical precipitation reaction at room temperature for the first time. They were characterized by means of elemental analyses, IR spectrometry and X-ray diffraction. The images of scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and the results of calculation by using the Scherrer equation for the line widths of the XRD patterns were used to estimate the average particle size of the powder products, which was 40 nm. The results show that the nanoparticle size was affected by starting materials′ concentrations. The particles had a small size and a narrow distribution, when the concentrations of H 3PMo 12O 40·24H 2O and Co(en) 3I 3·H 2O were around 1.7×10 -4 and 1.0×10 -3 mol/L, respectively. When the concentration was increased, there was no significant increase in the particle size, but more polydisperse Co(en) 3(PMo 12O 40) (+, -) were obtained. In poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) with an average molecular weight(M W) of 600 g/mol and containing LiClO 4[n(O)/n(Li)=100∶1] as the supporting electrolyte, the conductivity of the composite system increases upon the addition of PMo 12-Co(+ or -) nanoparticles, which was measured by the a.c. impedance technique. The interactions among PEG, LiClO 4, PMo 12, and Co can be used to explain that the PMo 12-Co(+ or -) nanoparticles could promote the conductivity of the PEG-LiClO4-PMo12-Co system.展开更多

The results of XRD measurement indicate that the products fired under 1050℃ for 3 h have a good crystallization without any detectable amount of impurity phase. Rare earth ions doped CdSiO3 phosphors possess excellent luminescence properties. When rare earth ions such as Y3+, La3+, Gd3+, Lu3+, Ce3+, Nd3+, Ho3+, Er3+, Tm3+ and Yb3+ are introduced into the CdSiO3 host, one broadband centered at about 420 nm resulting from traps can be observed. In the case of other earth ions such as Pr3+, Sm3+, Eu3+, Tb3+ and Dy3+, their characteristic line emitting as well as the ~420 nm broadband luminescence can be obtained. The mixture of their characteristic line emitting with the ~420 nm broadband luminescence results in various afterglow color.展开更多

Various capping ligands, such as alkyl-thiolswith different chain length and shape, trioctylphosphine (TOP), and pyridine are used to passivatethe gold nanoparticles for the purpose of self-organization into superstructures. It is shown thatthe ligands have a great influence on the self-organization of gold nanoparticles intosuper-lattices, and do-decanethiol C_(12)H_(25)SH is confirmed to be the best ligand for theserf-organization.
