The accuracy of its nuclear data is critical for the design of nuclear devices. The evaluation data of ^(56)Fe isotopes in the latest version of the CENDL-3.2 library from China was significantly updated. This new data must be tested before it can be used. To test the reliability of this data and assess the shielding effect, a shielding benchmark experiment was conducted with natural Fe spherical samples using a pulsed deuterium–tritium neutron source at the China Institute of Atomic Energy(CIAE). The leakage neutron spectra from the natural spherical iron samples with different thicknesses(4.5, 7.5, and 12 cm) were measured between 0.8 and 16 MeV after interacting with 14 MeV neutrons using the time-of-flight method. The simulation results were obtained by Monte Carlo simulations by employing the Fe data from the CENDL-3.2, ENDF/B-VIII.0, and JEDNL-5.0 libraries. The measured and simulated leakage neutron spectra and penetration rates were compared, demonstrating that the CENDL-3.2 library performs sufficiently overall. The simulation results of the other two libraries were underestimated for scattering at the continuum energy level.展开更多

文摘A new multi-detector array named HALIMA(Hybrid Array for LIfetime MeAsurement)has been developed at Lanzhou for nuclear structure studies in fission. The array comprises eight BGO-shielded High-Purity Germanium detectors and twenty fast Ce-doped Lanthanum Bromide[LaBr_(3)(Ce)]detectors shielded with CsI(Tl).HALIMA is further complemented by two ancillary detector systems:fission fragment(FF)detectors and β detectors. This configuration enables precise sub-nanosecond lifetime measurements using the fourfold FF/β-Ge-LaBr_(3)(Ce)-LaBr_(3)(Ce)coincidence technique. The performance and specifications of the detectors, associated electronics, and the data acquisition system are presented in detail. The advantage of FF selectivity is emphasized, which significantly enhances sensitivity to specific fission channels.Using this approach, the lifetimes of the nuclear excited states populated in the spontaneous fission of^(252)Cf were measured, showing good agreement with the established literature values.

文摘Beryllium(^(9)Be)serves as a crucial neutron multiplier and reflection material, being extensively employed in the nuclear industry. The evaluated nuclear data are utilized in the design of the nuclear devices.Following the interaction between neutrons and^(9)Be,all neutrons generated stem from the^(9)Be(n,2n)^(8)Be reaction channel, except for the elastic scattering reaction channel.Nevertheless, the data of the outgoing neutron double differential cross section of the reaction channel provided by the latest internationally evaluated libraries still exhibit considerable discrepancies.A shielding integral experiment based on slab^(9)Be samples with measurements of neutron spectra leaked from different angles is an effective approach to verify the double differential cross-section data.Hence,in this study,a shielding integral experiment of^(9)Be samples of different thicknesses was conducted using a nanosecond pulsed deuterium-tritium neutron source established by the China Institute of Atomic Energy. The neutron time-of-flight spectra of three thicknesses(4.4 cm,8.8 cm,and 13.2 cm)and six angles(47°,58°,73°,107°,122°,and 133°)were measured by the neutron time-of-flight method, and 18 sets of experimental data were obtained.Additionally, the MCNP-4C program was used to obtain the simulated results of the leakage neutron spectra using the evaluated nuclear data of^(9)Be from the CENDL-3.2,ENDF/B-Ⅷ.0,JENDL-5,and JEFF-3.3 libraries. The simulated results of the leakage neutron spectra were compared with the experimental results, and the results showed that in the elastic scattering energy region, the simulated results from the CENDL-3.2,ENDF/B-Ⅷ.0,and JENDL-5 libraries were slightly higher at small angles and slightly lower at large angles. In the(n,2n)energy region, the simulated results from the CENDL-3.2 library were significantly different from the experimental results in terms of spectral shape, and the simulated results from the ENDF/B-Ⅷ.0 and the JENDL-5 libraries were in good agreement with the experimental results at small angles but low at large angles. The simulated results from the JEFF-3.3 library showed serious underestimation at all angles.

文摘This study investigates the mechanism of ^(6)Li+^(7)Li anomalous large-angle scattering.First, elastic scattering is analyzed using an optical model with the São Paulo potential, and inelastic scattering to the first excited state of ^(7)Li is analyzed by distorted wave born approximation method. The experimental data of the elastic scattering angular distributions could be described reasonably well by the optical model at forward angles;however, anomalous large-angle scattering is observed in the angular distributions of both the elastic and inelastic channels for all measured energies.Elastic and inelastic scatterings are investigated using the coupled reaction channel method. The elastic and inelastic scattering, transfer reactions for the ground and excited states, and their coupling effects are considered in the coupled reaction channel scheme. In addition, the influence of the breakup effects of the weakly bound ^(6)Li and ^(7)Li is investigated by including three resonance states of ^(6)Li and two resonance states of ^(7)Li in the coupled reaction channel framework. The observed anomalous large-angle scattering is explained using the transfer reaction mechanism and breakup effect, and the calculated results reproduce the experimental data reasonably well.

文摘The prompt fission neutron spectrum(PFNS)is a key nuclear data quantity that is of particular interest and plays a crucial role in understanding and modeling fission processes. An array comprising 48 liquid scintillation detectors and a parallelplate avalanche counter(PPAC)was developed at the China Institute of Atomic Energy(CIAE)to measure the PFNS of actinide nuclei.Efficiency and energy calibrations were performed for all the liquid scintillators, and their efficiencies were consistently found to be better than 5%.The time resolutions of the PPAC and liquid scintillators were measured to be 1.08 ns and 1.16 ns using~(252)Cf and~(207)Bi sources, respectively. The pulse shape discrimination of the liquid scintillator was utilized to identify neutron andγsignals on an event-by-event basis, and the figure of merit was deduced as 1.12 at a 200 ke Vee threshold. The contribution to the PFNS from multiple scattered neutrons was evaluated via Geant4 simulations, and those originating from the environment were found to be comparable to the crosstalk between the detectors. The neutron efficiency of the entire detection array was calibrated using a~(252)Cf spontaneous fission source and was demonstrated to be consistent with the Geant4 simulation results, which verified the reliability of the detection array.

文摘This study determined the lifetime of the first excited state(5∕2_(1)^(+))in ^(139)La via β-γ time-difference measurement using a LaBr_(3)+plastic scintillator array. This state is populated following the decay of ^(139)Ba produced in the^(138)Ba(n,γ)reaction.Compared with previous experiments using only stilbene/plastic crystals, this experiment separates the background contribution in the γ-ray spectrum owing to the high energy resolution of LaBr_(3).The L-forbidden M1 transition strength,B(M1,5∕2_(1)^(+)→7∕2_(1)^(+)),in^(139)La was measured and compared with detailed large-scale shell model calculations, with a special focus on the core-excitation effect. The results showed the importance of both proton and neutron core-excitations in explaining the M1 transition strength.Meanwhile, the effective g-factor for the tensor term of the M1 operator was smaller than the previously reported value in this region or around ^(208)Pb.

文摘A state-of-the-art detector array with a digital data acquisition system has been developed for charged-particle decay studies,includingβ-delayed protons,αdecay, and direct proton emissions from exotic proton-rich nuclei. The digital data acquisition system enables precise synchronization and processing of complex signals from various detectors, such as plastic scintillators, silicon detectors, and germaniumγdetectors. The system's performance was evaluated using theβdecay of^(32)Ar and its neighboring nuclei, produced via projectile fragmentation at the first Radioactive Ion Beam Line in Lanzhou(RIBLL1).Key measurements, including the half-life,charged-particle spectrum,andγ-ray spectrum, were obtained and compared with previous results for validation.Using the implantation–decay method, the isotopes of interest were implanted into two doublesided silicon strip detectors, where their subsequent decays were measured and correlated with preceding implantations using both position and time information. This detection system has potential for further applications, including the study ofβ-delayed charged-particle decay and direct proton emissions from even more exotic proton-rich nuclei.

文摘^(147,149)Sm are slow neutron capture(s-process)nuclides in nuclear astrophysics, whose(n,γ)cross sections are important input parameters in nucleosynthesis network calculations in the samarium(Sm)region. In addition,^(149)Sm is a fission product of ^(235)U with a 1%yield,and its neutron resonance parameters play a critical role in reactor neutronics.According to the available nuclear evaluation databases,a significant disagreement has been observed in the resonance peaks of the ^(147,149)Sm(n,γ)crosssectional data within the energy range of 20-300 eV.In this study, tutron capture cross section of a natural samarium target was measured at the back-streaming white neutron beamline of the China Spallation Neutron Source. The neutron capture yield was obtained, and the neutron resonance parameters for ^(147)Sm at 107.0,139.4,241.7,and 257.3 eV and ^(149)Sm at 23.2,24.6,26.1,28.0,51.5,75.2,90.9,125.3,and 248.4 eV were extracted using the SAMMY code based on R-matrix theory. For the parameters Γ_(n) and Γ_(γ) in these energies of ^(147,149)Sm,the percentages consistent with the results of the CENDL-3.2,ENDF/B-Ⅷ.0,JEFF-3.3,JENDL-4.0,and BROND-3.1 database are 27%,65%,65%,42%,and 58%,respectively.However,27% of the results were inconsistent with those of the major libraries. This work enriches experimental data of the ^(147,149)Sm neutron capture resonance and helps clarify the differences between different evaluation databases at the above energies.

文摘To verify the performance of the neutron total cross-sectional spectrometer, the neutron total cross section of carbon is initially measured in the energy range of 1 eV to 20 MeV using the time-of-flight method. The measurement is performed at the Back-n white neutron source with a 76-m time-of-flight path using the China Spallation Neutron Source. A multilayer fast fission chamber with 235U and 238U is employed as the neutron detector. The diameter and thickness of the natural graphite sample are 70 mm and 40 mm, respectively. Signal waveforms are collected using a data acquisition system. Off-line data processing was used to obtain the neutron time-of-flight spectra and transmissions. The uncertainty of the counting statistics is generally approximately 3% for each bin in the energy range of 1–20 MeV. It is determined that the results for the neutron total cross section of carbon obtained using ^235U cells are in good agreement with the results obtained using 238U cells within limits of statistical uncertainty. Moreover, the measured total cross sections show good agreement with the broadening evaluated data.

文摘Iron is commonly used as a structural and shielding material in nuclear devices. The simulation results of the other two libraries were underestimated for scattering at the continuum energy level.
文摘Neutron capture therapy with Sulfur-33, similar to boron neutron capture therapy with Boron-10, is effective in treating some types of tumors including ocular melanoma. The key point in sulfur neutron capture therapy is whether the neutron beam flux and the resonance capture cross section of ^(33)S(n;α)^(30) Si reaction at 13.5 keV can achieve the requirements of radiotherapy. In this research, the authors investigated the production of 13.5 keV neutron production and moderation based on an accelerator neutron source. A lithium glass detector was used to measure the neutron flux produced via near threshold^7 Li(p,n)~7 Be reaction using the time-of-flight method. Furthermore, the moderation effects of different kinds of materials were investigated using Monte Carlo simulation.

文摘The neutron capture cross section of ^(232)Th was measured at the neutron time-of-flight facility Back-n of China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)for the first time. The measurement was performed with 4 hydrogen-free deuterated benzene C6D6 liquid scintillation detectors,in the ES#2 experiment station on the beam line,at a distance of about 76 m from the neutron-production assembly. The total energy detection principle in combination with the pulse height weighting technique(PHWT)was applied to analyze the measured data. Results of the ^(232)Th(n,γ)reaction cross section in the unresolved resonance region from 4 keV to 100 keV were obtained, which shows a good agreement with the existing experimental data from EXFOR,as well as with the evaluated data from the ENDF/B-VIII.0 and CENDL-3.1.In addition, the excitation function of ^(232)Th(n,γ)^(233)Th reaction in the unresolved resonance region was theoretically calculated by using the code TALYS-1.95.By fitting the experimental cross section and theoretical data, the average parameters in the unresolved resonance region were extracted.

文摘The ^(232)Th(n,f)cross section is very important in basic nuclear physics and applications based on the Th/U fuel cycle.Using the time-of-flight method and a multi-cell fast-fission ionization chamber,a novel measurement of the^(232)Th(n,f)cross sec-tion relative to^(235)U in the 1–200 MeV range was performed at the China Spallation Neutron Source Back-n white neutron source(Back-n).The fission event-neutron energy spectra of^(232)Th and^(235)U fission cells were measured in the single-bunch mode.Corrected 232Th/235U fission cross-sectional ratios were obtained, and the measurement uncertainties were 2.5–3.7%for energies in the 2–20 MeV range and 3.6–6.2%for energies in the 20–200 MeV range.The^(232)Th(n,f)cross section was obtained by introducing the standard cross section of^(235)U(n,f).The results were compared with those of previous theoreti-cal calculations, measurements, and evaluations. The measured 232Th fission cross section agreed with the main evaluation results in terms of the experimental uncertainty, and 232Th fission resonances were observed in the 1–3 MeV range. The present results provide^(232)Th(n,f)cross-sectional data for the evaluation and design of Th/U cycle nuclear systems.

文摘Interest has recently emerged in potential applications of(n,2n)reactions of unstable nuclei.Challenges have arisen because of the scarcity of experimental cross-sectional data. This study aims to predict the(n,2n)reaction cross-section of long-lived fission products based on a tensor model. This tensor model is an extension of the collaborative filtering algorithm used for nuclear data.It is based on tensor decomposition and completion to predict(n,2n)reaction cross-sections;the corresponding EXFOR data are applied as training data. The reliability of the proposed tensor model was validated by comparing the calculations with data from EXFOR and different databases.Predictions were made for long-lived fission products such as^(60)Co,^(79)Se,^(93)Zr,^(107)P,^(126)Sn,and^(137)Cs,which provide a predicted energy range to effectively transmute long-lived fission products into shorter-lived or less radioactive isotopes. This method could be a powerful tool for completing(n,2n)reaction cross-sectional data and shows the possibility of selective transmutation of nuclear waste.
