It was found that there was great potential to improve the signal quality and repeatability by reducing the laser beam divergence angle using a suitable beam expander (BE). Two radio frequency(RF) electric fields, noted as local and signal fields, couple the nearby Rydberg transition. The two-photon resonant Rydberg electromagnetically induced transparency(Rydberg-EIT) is employed to directly read out the weak signal field having hundreds of k Hz difference between the local and signal fields that is encoded in the resonant microwave-dressed Rydberg atoms. The minimum detectable signal fields of ESmin= 1.36 ± 0.04 mV/m for 2.18 GHz coupling |68D(5/2)〉→ |69P(3/2)〉 transition and 1.33 ± 0.02 mV/m for 1.32 GHz coupling |80D(5/2)〉→ |81P(3/2)〉 transition are obtained, respectively. The bandwidth dependence is also investigated by varying the signal field frequency and corresponding -3 dB bandwidth of 3 MHz is attained. This method can be employed to perform a rapid and precise measurement of the weak electric field, which is important for the atom-based microwave metrology.展开更多

文摘We present high resolution photoassociation spectroscopy of ultracold 23Na133Cs molecules in a long-range c3∑+ state below the (3S1/2 + 6P3/2) asymptote. We perform photoassociation spectroscopy in a dual-species magneto-optical trap (MOT) and detect the photoassociation resonances using trap-loss spectroscopy. By fitting the experimental data with the semi-classical LeRoy-Bernstein formula, we deduce the long-range molecular coefficient C6 and derive the empirical potential energy curve in the long-range region.

文摘The transition dipole moments(TDMs)of ultracold85 Rb133 Cs molecules between the lowest vibrational ground level,(X^1Σ~+(v=0,J=1),and the two excited rovibrational levels,2^(3)Π_(0)+(v′=10,J′=2)and 2~1Π1(v′=22,J′=2),are measured using depletion spectroscopy. The ground-state85 Rb133 Cs molecules are formed from cold mixed component atoms via the 2^(3)Π_(0)-(v=11,J=0)short-range level, then detected by time-of-flight mass spectrum.A home-made external-cavity diode laser is used as the depletion laser to couple the ground level and the two excited levels.Based on the depletion spectroscopy, the corresponding TDMs are then derived to be 3.5(2)×10^(-3)eααand 1.6(1)×10^(-2)eαα,respectively,where 0)(60 represents the atomic unit of electric dipole moment. The enhance of TDM with nearly a factor of 5 for the 2^(1)Π_(1)(v′=22,J′=2)excited level means that it has stronger coupling with the ground level. It is meaningful to find more levels with much more strong coupling strength by the represented depletion spectroscopy to realize direct stimulated Raman adiabatic passage transfer from scattering atomic states to deeply molecular states.

文摘The laser frequency could be linked to an radio frequency through an external cavity by the combination of Pound-Drever-Hall and Devoe-Brewer locking techniques.A stable and tunable optical frequency at wavelength of 1.5μm obtained by a cavity with high finesse of 96000 and a fiber laser has been demonstrated, calibrated by a commercial optical frequency comb. The locking performances have been analyzed by in-loop and out-loop noises, indicating that the absolute frequency instability could be down to 50 kHz over 1 s and keep to less than 110 kHz over 2.5 h.Then, the application of this stabilized laser to the direct absorption spectroscopy has been performed. With the help of balanced detection, the detection sensitivity,in terms of optical density, can reach to 9.4×10^(-6).

文摘We report on a research of the loading of ultracold sodium atoms in an optical dipole trap, generated by two beams from a high power fiber laser. The effects of optical trap light power on atomic number, temperature and phase space density are experimentally investigated.A simple theory is proposed and it is in good accordance with the experimental results of the loaded atomic numbers. In a general estimation,an optimal value for each beam with a power of 9 W from the fiber laser is achieved. Our results provide a further understanding of the loading process of optical dipole trap and laid the foundation for generation of a sodium Bose–Einstein condensation with an optical dipole trap.

文摘Laser-induced plasma is often produced in the presence of background gas, which causes some new physical processes. In this work,a two-dimensional axisymmetric radiation fluid dynamics model is used to numerically simulate the expansion process of plasma under different pressures and gases,in which the multiple interaction processes of diffusion, viscosity and heat conduction between the laser ablated target vapor and the background gas are further considered, and the spatio-temporal evolutions of plasma parameters(species number density, expansion velocity, size and electron temperature)as well as the emission spectra are obtained. The consistency between the actual and simulated spectra of aluminum plasma in 1 atm argon verifies the correctness of the model and the numerical simulation, thus providing a refinement analysis method for the basic research of plasma expansion in gases and the application of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy.

文摘Double resonance optical pumping spectroscopy has an outstanding advantage of high signal-to-noise ratio, thus having potential applications in precision measurement. With the counter propagated 780nm and 776nm laser beams acting on a rubidium vapor cell, the high resolution spectrum of 5S1/2 - 5P3/2 - 5D5/2 ladder-type transition of ST Rb atoms is obtained by monitoring the population of the 5S1/2 ground state. The dependence of the spectroscopy lineshape on the probe and coupling fields are comprehensively studied in theory and experiment. This research is helpful for measurement of fundamental physical constants by high resolution spectroscopy.

文摘With the rapid advancement of laser decontamination technology and growing awareness of microbial hazards,it becomes crucial to employ theoretical model to simulate and evaluate decontamination processes by laser-induced plasma. This study employs a two-dimensional axisymmetric fluid dynamics model to simulate the power density of plasma bombardment on bacteria and access its decontamination effects. The model considers the transport processes of vapor plasma and background gas molecules.Based on the destructive impact of high-speed moving particles in the plasma on bacteria,we investigate the bombardment power density under various conditions, including different laser spot sizes, wavelengths, plate's tilt angles, and plate-target spacing. The results reveal that the bombardment power density increases with a decrease in laser spot size and wavelength. For instance, when the plate is parallel to the target surface with a 1 mm spacing, the bombardment power density triples as the laser spot size decreases from 0.8 mm to 0.5 mm and quadruples as the wavelength decreases from 1064 nm to 266 nm.Notably, when the plate is parallel to the target with a relatively close spacing of 0.5 mm,the bombardment power density at 0°inclination increases sevenfold compared to 45°.This simulation study is essential for optimizing optical parameters and designing component layouts in decontamination devices using laser-induced plasma. The reduction of laser spot size,wavelength,plate-target spacing and aligning the plate parallel to the target, collectively contribute to achieving precise and effective decontamination.

文摘The Josephson effect,an important quantum supercurrent phenomenon, has been extensively studied in superconductors and superfluids. In this paper,we investigate the rich physics of one-dimensional Josephson junctions in a red-detuned optical lattice with sodium(Na)quantum gas.A one-dimensional Josephson array is formed by setting up an optical lattice using a red-detuned laser.By characterizing the dependence of Josephson oscillations of the lattice depth,we experimentally demonstrate the Josephson current. The lattice depth is controlled by altering the lattice power, and our observations are consistent with theoretical predictions. These findings offer valuable insights into quantum coherent transport and the intricate dynamics inherent to superfluidity.

文摘Interactions between atoms in ultracold quantum gases play an important role in the study of the quantum simulation of many-body physics.Feshbach resonance is a versatile tool to control atomic interactions, where the atom-loss spectra are widely used to characterize Feshbach resonances of various atomic species. Here,we report the experimental observation of momentum-induced broadening of widths in atom-loss spectra of narrow ^(133)Cs Feshbach resonances. We drive Bragg excitation to kick the Bose-Einstein condensate of Cs atoms in a cigar-shaped optical trap, and measure the atom-loss spectra of narrow Feshbach resonances of moving ultracold atoms near the magnetic fields 19.84 G and 47.97 G.We show that the widths of the atom-loss spectra are broadened for the atoms with the momenta of 2hk,and 4hk,and even observe splitting in the Feshbach resonance of the atoms with momentum 4hk.Our work may open the way for exploring the interesting physical phenomena arising from the collective velocity of colliding atoms that have been ignored in general.

文摘Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) is a promising analytical spectroscopy technology based on spectroscopic analysis of the radiation emitted by laser-produced plasma. However, for quantitative analysis by LIBS, the so-called self-absorption effects on the spectral lines, which affect plasma characteristics, emission line shapes, calibration curves, etc, can no longer be neglected. Hence, understanding and determining the self-absorption effects are of utmost importance to LIBS research. The purpose of this review is to provide a global overview of self-absorption in LIBS on the issues of experimental observations and adverse effects, physical mechanisms, correction or elimination approaches, and utilizations in the past century. We believe that better understanding and effective solving the self-absorption effect will further enhance the development and maturity of LIBS.

文摘We present a precise measurement of a weak radio frequency electric field with a frequency of ■3 GHz employing a resonant atomic probe that is constituted with a Rydberg cascade three-level atom, including a cesium ground state |6S(1/2)〉,an excited state |6P(3/2)〉, and Rydberg state |nD(5/2)〉. This method can be employed to perform a rapid and precise measurement of the weak electric field, which is important for the atom-based microwave metrology.

文摘The chemical composition of alloys directly determines their mechanical behaviors and application fields.Accurate and rapid analysis of both major and minor elements in alloys plays a key role in metallurgy quality control and material classification processes.A quantitative calibration-free laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(CF-LIBS)analysis method, which carries out combined correction of plasma temperature and spectral intensity by using a secondorder iterative algorithm and two boundary standard samples,is proposed to realize accurate composition measurements.Experimental results show that, compared to conventional CF-LIBS analysis, the relative errors for major elements Cu and Zn and minor element Pb in the copperlead alloys has been reduced from 12%,26%and 32%to 1.8%,2.7%and 13.4%,respectively.The measurement accuracy for all elements has been improved substantially.
