The principal mode is constructed;its absorption is estimated. The agreement with previous results about reflection of waves from absorbing walls is discussed. Roughly, the effective absorption of the principal mode is proportional the minus third power of the distance between walls, minus 1.5 d power of the wavenumber and minus 0.5 power of the local absorption of the wave in the wall. This estimate is suggested as hint for the design of the atomic waveguides, and also as tool for optimization of attenuation of the amplified spontaneous emission (and suppression of parasitic oscillations) in high power lasers.展开更多

A rotating neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Nd:YAG)disk laser resonator for efficiently generating vector beams with azimuthal and radial polarization is demonstrated.In the study,the laser crystal rotary for t...A rotating neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Nd:YAG)disk laser resonator for efficiently generating vector beams with azimuthal and radial polarization is demonstrated.In the study,the laser crystal rotary for thermal alleviation and polarization discrimination uses c-cut ytterbium vanadate(YVO_(4)).The laser output could be switched between azimuthal and radial polarizations by simply adjusting the cavity length.The laser power reached 4.38 W and 4.64W for azimuthally and radially polarized beams at the slope efficiencies of 45.3%and 48.5%,respectively.Our study proved that an efficient,high-power vector rotary disk laser would be realistic.展开更多
We demonstrate a linearly-polarized, ytterbium-doped fiber laser that uses an uncoated, undoped ceramic YAG plate as the output coupler, and the corresponding polarization extinction ratio of laser beam increases with...We demonstrate a linearly-polarized, ytterbium-doped fiber laser that uses an uncoated, undoped ceramic YAG plate as the output coupler, and the corresponding polarization extinction ratio of laser beam increases with incident pump power and then saturates at larger pump power. For comparison, the output coupler of the fiber laser is replaced by 10% reflectivity plane mirror, while the feature of the polarization of laser output is kept unchanged. The results show that the origin of the pump-dependent and self-started polarization is associated with the intensity-dependent nonlinear birefringence in the gain fiber.展开更多

The differential cross sections and...The energy loss spectrum of the molecular nitrogen in the energy region 12 -14 eV has been measured at 300 eV impact energy and in the range of scattering angles of 2.75℃- 10.25℃. The differential cross sections and generalized oscillator strengths have been determined for individual vibronic excitation band (v’ = 1 - 4) of b1Пu from the ground state of N2 and the absolute optical oscillator strengths have also been obtained by taking the limit of K→ 0. Results have been compared with experimental data and theoretical calculations previously published.展开更多
