The cross sections of the ^(148)Sm(n,α)^(145)Nd reaction were measured for the first time at neutron energies ranging from 4.8 to 5.3 MeV.The experiment was carried out on the Van de Graaff accelerator EG-5 at the Fr...The cross sections of the ^(148)Sm(n,α)^(145)Nd reaction were measured for the first time at neutron energies ranging from 4.8 to 5.3 MeV.The experiment was carried out on the Van de Graaff accelerator EG-5 at the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics,Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.Fast neutrons were produced via the ^(2)H(d,n)^(3)He reaction with a deuterium gas target.A twin gridded ionization chamber was used as the charged particle detector,with back-to-back^(148)Sm samples mounted on tantalum backings at the common cathode.The absolute neutron flux was measured using the ^(238)U_(3)O_(8) sample.The obtained cross section data were compared with those from existing nuclear data libraries and theoretical calculations using the TALYS-1.96 code.The present results for the^(148)Sm(n,α)^(145)Nd reaction are expected to resolve discrepancies among various nuclear evaluation data.展开更多

Cross sections of the^(6)Li(n;t)^(4)He reaction were measured in the fast neutron energy range from 3.3 to 5.3 MeV using a gridded ionization chamber(GIC)and well-calibrated experimental setup at the EG-5 Van de Graaf...Cross sections of the^(6)Li(n;t)^(4)He reaction were measured in the fast neutron energy range from 3.3 to 5.3 MeV using a gridded ionization chamber(GIC)and well-calibrated experimental setup at the EG-5 Van de Graaff accelerator of the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics,Joint Institute for Nuclear Research(FLNP,JINR).Lithium fluoride(^(6)LiF)samples with varying thicknesses and krypton-CO_(2)gas mixtures with different pressures were used to optimize the detection of both alpha particles and tritons.Neutron fluxes were monitored using two high-purity(99.999%)^(238)U_(3)O_(8)samples placed inside the GIC,complemented by an externally calibrated^(3)He long counter.The measured^(6)Li(n,t)^(4)He cross-section data were compared with existing results of measurements and evaluations from EXFOR and ENDF nuclear data libraries,and the results showed a good agreement in the measured neutron energy range.These new measurements provide reliable cross-section data that contribute to the refinement of evaluated nuclear data files and support applications in nuclear physics,tritium production,and reactor design.展开更多
