This research aims to investigate the impact of technological addiction on workplace productivity within the public sector of Zimbabwe. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining surveys, interviews, and a case study analysis, to examine the prevalence and effects of technological addiction in affecting productivity in the public sector of Zimbabwe. The findings indicate that excessive use of social media, and other digital distractions is a growing concern in the public sector, leading to decreased focus, missed deadlines, and strained teamwork. Factors such as unrestricted internet access, lack of clear usage policies, and inadequate self-regulation contribute to the problem The research outcomes also highlight the need for awareness and interventions to address social media addiction in the workplace, promote healthier technology use, and uphold productivity and employee well-being.展开更多

In this study, we observed brain areas activated under three de- grees of uncertainty in a reward-based decision-making task (certain, risky, and ambiguous). The tasks were presented using a brain function audiovisual stimulation system. We conducted brain scans of 15 healthy volunteers using a 3.0T magnetic resonance scanner. We used SPM8 to ana- lyze the location and intensity of activation during the reward-based decision-making task, with re- spect to the three conditions. We found that the orbitofrontal cortex was activated in the certain reward condition, while the prefrontal cortex, precentral gyrus, occipital visual cortex, inferior parietal lobe, cerebellar posterior lobe, middle temporal gyrus, inferior temporal gyrus, limbic lobe, and midbrain were activated during the 'risk' condition. The prefrontal cortex, temporal pole, inferior temporal gyrus, occipital visual cortex, and cerebellar posterior lobe were activated during am- biguous decision-making. The ventrolateral prefrontal lobe, frontal pole of the prefrontal lobe, orbi- tofrontal cortex, precentral gyrus, inferior temporal gyrus, fusiform gyrus, supramarginal gyrus, infe- rior parietal Iobule, and cerebellar posterior lobe exhibited greater activation in the 'risk' than in the 'certain' condition (P 〈 0.05). The frontal pole and dorsolateral region of the prefrontal lobe, as well as the cerebellar posterior lobe, showed significantly greater activation in the 'ambiguous' condition compared to the 'risk' condition (P 〈 0.05). The prefrontal lobe, occipital lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe, limbic lobe, midbrain, and posterior lobe of the cerebellum were activated during deci- sion-making about uncertain rewards. Thus, we observed different levels and regions of activation for different types of reward processing during decision-making. Specifically, when the degree of reward uncertainty increased, the number of activated brain areas increased, including greater ac- tivation of brain areas associated with loss.展开更多
AIM:To examined the effects of stochastic resonance whole-body vibration training on musculoskeletal pain in young healthy individuals.METHODS:Participants were 43 undergraduate students of a Swiss University.The stud...AIM:To examined the effects of stochastic resonance whole-body vibration training on musculoskeletal pain in young healthy individuals.METHODS:Participants were 43 undergraduate students of a Swiss University.The study was designed as a randomized controlled trial(RCT)with randomized group allocation.The RCT consisted of two groups each given 12 training sessions during four weeks with either 5 Hz-Training frequency(training condition)or 1.5 Hz Training frequency(control condition).Outcome was current musculoskeletal pain assessed in the evening on each day during the four week training period.RESULTS:Multilevel regression analysis showed musculoskeletal pain was significantly decreased in the training condition whereas there was no change in the control condition(B=-0.023,SE=0.010,P=0.021).Decrease in current musculoskeletal pain over four weeks was linear.CONCLUSION:Stochastic resonance whole-body vibration reduced musculoskeletal pain in young healthy individuals.Stochastic resonance vibration and not any other exercise component within training caused pain reduction.展开更多
AIM To investigate the acute effects of stochastic resonance whole body vibration(SR-WBV),including muscle relaxation and cardiovascular activation.METHODS Sixty-four healthy students participated.The participants wer...AIM To investigate the acute effects of stochastic resonance whole body vibration(SR-WBV),including muscle relaxation and cardiovascular activation.METHODS Sixty-four healthy students participated.The participants were randomly assigned to sham SR-WBV training at a low intensity(1.5 Hz)or a verum SR-WBV training at a higher intensity(5 Hz).Systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),heart rate(HR)and selfreported muscle relaxation were assessed before and immediately after SR-WBV.RESULTS Two factorial analyses of variance(ANOVA)showed a significant interaction between pre-vs post-SR-WBVmeasurements and SR-WBV conditions for muscle relaxation in the neck and back[F(1,55)=3.35,P=0.048,η2=0.07].Muscle relaxation in the neck and back increased in verum SR-WBV,but not in sham SR-WBV.No significant changes between pre-and post-training levels of SBD,DBD and HR were observed either in sham or verum SR-WBV conditions.With verum SR-WBV,improved muscle relaxation was the most significant in participants who reported the experience of back,neck or shoulder pain more than once a month(P<0.05).CONCLUSION A single session of SR-WBV increased muscle relaxation in young healthy individuals,while cardiovascular load was low.An increase in musculoskeletal relaxation in the neck and back is a potential mediator of pain reduction in preventive worksite SR-WBV trials.展开更多

Objectives:This study aimed to determine the relationship between emotional reflexivity and work-life integration through the mechanism of moral courage and enhance our understanding of the importance of these nursing...Objectives:This study aimed to determine the relationship between emotional reflexivity and work-life integration through the mechanism of moral courage and enhance our understanding of the importance of these nursing concepts to enable the nurses to develop better coping strategies for work-life integration.Methods:A cross-sectional survey was performed with 249 nurses,including staff nurses,ICU and critical care nurses,operation theatre nurses,pediatric nurses from 17 hospitals.Emotional Reflexivity,work-life integration,and courage were measured using a demographic information questionnaire,Life Project Reflexivity Scale(LPRS),Nurse’s Moral Courage Scale(NMCS),andWork-Life Boundary Enactment(WLBE)scale.A series of multiple regressions analyzed the mediating effect.Results:Emotional Reflexivity was positively correlated with work-life integration(b=0.66,P<0.01).There was a positive correlation between emotional reflexivity and moral courage.But the path did not get the necessary support in the structural equation modeling(SEM)(b=0.13,P=0.40).When controlling for courage(b=0.42,P<0.01),the association was significant between emotional reflexivity and work-life integration with partial mediation.Conclusion:The study reported a positive correlation between reflexivity and work-life integration.Thus,nurses’work-life integration becomes better by reinforcing their emotional reflexivity and moral courage.展开更多
Experiencing urban green and blue spaces(GBSs)can be a nature-based solution to improve mental well-being and cope with negative moods for people exposed to PM2.5 pollution.In this study,a total of 1257 photos were co...Experiencing urban green and blue spaces(GBSs)can be a nature-based solution to improve mental well-being and cope with negative moods for people exposed to PM2.5 pollution.In this study,a total of 1257 photos were collected to recognize their posted emotions of Sina Weibo users from 38 parks in 22 cities in Northeast China in 2021,when atmospheric PM_(2.5)and landscape metrics were evaluated for GBSs of each park.Autumn and winter had heavy atmospheric PM_(2.5)pollutions in resource-dependent cities of Liaoning.Net positive emotions(happy minus sad scores)decreased in larger green spaces.The perception of blue space countered the presentation of sadness only for a limited period over four seasons.High elevation decreased the level of happiness presented in winter.Overall,this study confirms that visiting large urban green spaces at low elevations can benefit the perception of positive sentiments for people exposed to PM_(2.5)in autumn.For planning urban forests in Northeast China,more green spaces should be constructed in cities in southern Jilin province to alleviate air PM_(2.5)pollution and gain better well-being of local people.展开更多

Although it is becoming increasingly popular for organizations to offer programs of mind–body practices to their employees to improve their physical and mental health,the effects that after-work sessions of mind–bod...Although it is becoming increasingly popular for organizations to offer programs of mind–body practices to their employees to improve their physical and mental health,the effects that after-work sessions of mind–body prac-tices have on employees’work behavior remain unclear.Using the model of proactive motivation and experience sampling,this study explored the relationship between employees’mind–body practices after work and their proactive behavior in the workplace on the following day.A multilevel path analysis of data from 82 employees over seven consecutive workdays showed that employees’mind–body practices after work had a positive effect on their proactive behavior in the workplace on the following day.The relationship was mediated by next-day high-activated positive affect and problem-solving confidence.Furthermore,job control positively moderated the rela-tionship between high-activated positive affect and proactive behavior but not that between problem-solving con-fidence and proactive behavior.We discuss the theoretical and practical implications of thesefindings,and propose future research directions.展开更多

The fibre strength properties were tested using SIRIM Standard methods and colour changed using gray scale. The bioaugmentation of pectin decomposing bacteria together with MgO additions were found to enhance retting process and reduced retting periods 52% and yielded better strength on the fibres. The lower portion pseudo-stem sheaths gave the higher strength than upper portion. Colour changed showed that the bioaugmentation of pectin bacteria enhanced the degradation colouring compound in banana fibres.展开更多

This is especially true for maintaining and recovering the lifeline of the organization and its data. Although the literature has discussed the importance of disaster recovery and business continuity, there is not much known about how Information System Data Analytics Resilience (ISDAR) and the organization’s ability to recover from lost information. In this research, we take a step in this direction and analyze the relationship of IS personnel expertise on ISDAR and investigate Information System (IS) personnel understanding of the firm’s competitive priorities, IS Personnel understanding of business policies and objectives, IS personnel’s ability to solve business problems, IS personnel initiatives in changing business processes and their determination and attentiveness to focus on achieving confident leadership in data and analytics resilience. We collected data through a survey of IS and business managers from 302 participants. Our results show that there is evidence to support our hypothesis and that there may indeed be a relationship between these variables.展开更多

文摘AIM:To examined the effects of stochastic resonance whole-body vibration training on musculoskeletal pain in young healthy individuals.METHODS:Participants were 43 undergraduate students of a Swiss University.The study was designed as a randomized controlled trial(RCT)with randomized group allocation.The RCT consisted of two groups each given 12 training sessions during four weeks with either 5 Hz-Training frequency(training condition)or 1.5 Hz Training frequency(control condition).Outcome was current musculoskeletal pain assessed in the evening on each day during the four week training period.RESULTS:Multilevel regression analysis showed musculoskeletal pain was significantly decreased in the training condition whereas there was no change in the control condition(B=-0.023,SE=0.010,P=0.021).Decrease in current musculoskeletal pain over four weeks was linear.CONCLUSION:Stochastic resonance whole-body vibration reduced musculoskeletal pain in young healthy individuals.Stochastic resonance vibration and not any other exercise component within training caused pain reduction.

文摘AIM To investigate the acute effects of stochastic resonance whole body vibration(SR-WBV),including muscle relaxation and cardiovascular activation.METHODS Sixty-four healthy students participated.The participants were randomly assigned to sham SR-WBV training at a low intensity(1.5 Hz)or a verum SR-WBV training at a higher intensity(5 Hz).Systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),heart rate(HR)and selfreported muscle relaxation were assessed before and immediately after SR-WBV.RESULTS Two factorial analyses of variance(ANOVA)showed a significant interaction between pre-vs post-SR-WBVmeasurements and SR-WBV conditions for muscle relaxation in the neck and back[F(1,55)=3.35,P=0.048,η2=0.07].Muscle relaxation in the neck and back increased in verum SR-WBV,but not in sham SR-WBV.No significant changes between pre-and post-training levels of SBD,DBD and HR were observed either in sham or verum SR-WBV conditions.With verum SR-WBV,improved muscle relaxation was the most significant in participants who reported the experience of back,neck or shoulder pain more than once a month(P<0.05).CONCLUSION A single session of SR-WBV increased muscle relaxation in young healthy individuals,while cardiovascular load was low.An increase in musculoskeletal relaxation in the neck and back is a potential mediator of pain reduction in preventive worksite SR-WBV trials.

文摘Blockchain,as a decentralized platform and distributed ledger technology,will complement and promote the existing centralized system to form a relatively comprehensive ecosystem.A systematic review of blockchain research on information system(IS)disciplines during the five years from 2016 to 2020 selected dozens of papers from 16 leading IS journals.The technological characteristics and implementation models of blockchain are introduced,highlighting and discussing its research status and development in context.Moreover,the future research directions for blockchain in IS are illustrated.It aims to discuss the decentralized and emerging technology of blockchain in its early development stage and to depict the relevant IS issues that are worthy of further investigation.
文摘Objectives:This study aimed to determine the relationship between emotional reflexivity and work-life integration through the mechanism of moral courage and enhance our understanding of the importance of these nursing concepts to enable the nurses to develop better coping strategies for work-life integration.Methods:A cross-sectional survey was performed with 249 nurses,including staff nurses,ICU and critical care nurses,operation theatre nurses,pediatric nurses from 17 hospitals.Emotional Reflexivity,work-life integration,and courage were measured using a demographic information questionnaire,Life Project Reflexivity Scale(LPRS),Nurse’s Moral Courage Scale(NMCS),andWork-Life Boundary Enactment(WLBE)scale.A series of multiple regressions analyzed the mediating effect.Results:Emotional Reflexivity was positively correlated with work-life integration(b=0.66,P<0.01).There was a positive correlation between emotional reflexivity and moral courage.But the path did not get the necessary support in the structural equation modeling(SEM)(b=0.13,P=0.40).When controlling for courage(b=0.42,P<0.01),the association was significant between emotional reflexivity and work-life integration with partial mediation.Conclusion:The study reported a positive correlation between reflexivity and work-life integration.Thus,nurses’work-life integration becomes better by reinforcing their emotional reflexivity and moral courage.

文摘Experiencing urban green and blue spaces(GBSs)can be a nature-based solution to improve mental well-being and cope with negative moods for people exposed to PM2.5 pollution.In this study,a total of 1257 photos were collected to recognize their posted emotions of Sina Weibo users from 38 parks in 22 cities in Northeast China in 2021,when atmospheric PM_(2.5)and landscape metrics were evaluated for GBSs of each park.Autumn and winter had heavy atmospheric PM_(2.5)pollutions in resource-dependent cities of Liaoning.Net positive emotions(happy minus sad scores)decreased in larger green spaces.The perception of blue space countered the presentation of sadness only for a limited period over four seasons.High elevation decreased the level of happiness presented in winter.Overall,this study confirms that visiting large urban green spaces at low elevations can benefit the perception of positive sentiments for people exposed to PM_(2.5)in autumn.For planning urban forests in Northeast China,more green spaces should be constructed in cities in southern Jilin province to alleviate air PM_(2.5)pollution and gain better well-being of local people.

文摘Pollination biology studies of the endangered herbal medicines Dendrobium chrysotoxum were conducted in natural pollination conditions using flower observation,pollinator observation and artificial pollination experiments.Populations of D.chrysotoxum with fragrance and nectar were pollinated by Ctenoplectra davidi Valhalla(Hymenoptera:Apidae)species.The floral structure of D.chrysotoxum adapted precisely to its pollinators.Flowers had a low capsule setting(0.17%)under natural conditions.However,compared to open pollination,artificial pollination experiments showed a significant increase in capsule setting,and D.chrysotoxum was cross-compatible and self-compatible,but there was pollinator limitation also.This study will provide important information for the preservation of this endangered species.

文摘Although it is becoming increasingly popular for organizations to offer programs of mind–body practices to their employees to improve their physical and mental health,the effects that after-work sessions of mind–body prac-tices have on employees’work behavior remain unclear.Using the model of proactive motivation and experience sampling,this study explored the relationship between employees’mind–body practices after work and their proactive behavior in the workplace on the following day.A multilevel path analysis of data from 82 employees over seven consecutive workdays showed that employees’mind–body practices after work had a positive effect on their proactive behavior in the workplace on the following day.The relationship was mediated by next-day high-activated positive affect and problem-solving confidence.Furthermore,job control positively moderated the rela-tionship between high-activated positive affect and proactive behavior but not that between problem-solving con-fidence and proactive behavior.We discuss the theoretical and practical implications of thesefindings,and propose future research directions.
文摘BACKGROUND:Since demographic changes have contributed to the growth of emergency medicine,a highly populous nation such as India needs to give physicians associated due credit and recognition.The management of knowledge source must also be conducted with due care as the work environment is completely different from that of any other clinicians.METHODS:The data were collected by direct interaction with residents of the department.Additional information was gathered by observation.The data were verified for validity.RESULTS:This study was to bring out the benefits of proactive decisions that could further enhance the emergency department.But such decisions did not always result in positive responses and improved morale.When such decisions were retracted as it causes misalignment with the existing system.An academic emergency department was expected and physicians should enrich their knowledge about emergency medicine.CONCLUSIONS:The problems faced by emergency department might be similar but the way in which one tackles the situation would be different.Decision making in this hospital may not be the best but it would've been the optimum one given the conditions available.
文摘Autism spectrum disorder(ASD)is regarded as a neurological disorder well-defined by a specific set of problems associated with social skills,recurrent conduct,and communication.Identifying ASD as soon as possible is favourable due to prior identification of ASD permits prompt interferences in children with ASD.Recognition of ASD related to objective pathogenicmutation screening is the initial step against prior intervention and efficient treatment of children who were affected.Nowadays,healthcare and machine learning(ML)industries are combined for determining the existence of various diseases.This article devises a Jellyfish Search Optimization with Deep Learning Driven ASD Detection and Classification(JSODL-ASDDC)model.The goal of the JSODL-ASDDC algorithm is to identify the different stages of ASD with the help of biomedical data.The proposed JSODLASDDC model initially performs min-max data normalization approach to scale the data into uniform range.In addition,the JSODL-ASDDC model involves JSO based feature selection(JFSO-FS)process to choose optimal feature subsets.Moreover,Gated Recurrent Unit(GRU)based classification model is utilized for the recognition and classification of ASD.Furthermore,the Bacterial Foraging Optimization(BFO)assisted parameter tuning process gets executed to enhance the efficacy of the GRU system.The experimental assessment of the JSODL-ASDDC model is investigated against distinct datasets.The experimental outcomes highlighted the enhanced performances of the JSODL-ASDDC algorithm over recent approaches.
文摘The upper and lower portions of Musa sapientum pseudo-stem sheaths were exposed in four types of treatments: pectin decomposing bacteria, magnesium oxide (MgO), both pectin decomposing bacteria and MgO and control. The fibre strength properties were tested using SIRIM Standard methods and colour changed using gray scale. The bioaugmentation of pectin decomposing bacteria together with MgO additions were found to enhance retting process and reduced retting periods 52% and yielded better strength on the fibres. The lower portion pseudo-stem sheaths gave the higher strength than upper portion. Colour changed showed that the bioaugmentation of pectin bacteria enhanced the degradation colouring compound in banana fibres.
文摘Disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) have been important areas of inquiry for both business managers and academicians. It is now widely believed that for achieving sustainable business continuity, a firm must be able to recover from both man-made and natural disasters. This is especially true for maintaining and recovering the lifeline of the organization and its data. Although the literature has discussed the importance of disaster recovery and business continuity, there is not much known about how Information System Data Analytics Resilience (ISDAR) and the organization’s ability to recover from lost information. In this research, we take a step in this direction and analyze the relationship of IS personnel expertise on ISDAR and investigate Information System (IS) personnel understanding of the firm’s competitive priorities, IS Personnel understanding of business policies and objectives, IS personnel’s ability to solve business problems, IS personnel initiatives in changing business processes and their determination and attentiveness to focus on achieving confident leadership in data and analytics resilience. We collected data through a survey of IS and business managers from 302 participants. Our results show that there is evidence to support our hypothesis and that there may indeed be a relationship between these variables.
