Objective:To explore the rehabilitation effect of pulmonary rehabilitation training in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods:Elderly COPD patients hospitalized from June 2024 to Dec...Objective:To explore the rehabilitation effect of pulmonary rehabilitation training in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods:Elderly COPD patients hospitalized from June 2024 to December 2024 were selected as subjects for a quasi-experimental study.The study randomly assigned patients into two equal groups of 50 each.One group served as the control and received standard treatment and nursing care,while the other group,the intervention group,was given additional pulmonary rehabilitation exercises alongside the conventional care.The lung function indexes[forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1),forced vital capacity(FVC),FEV1/FVC],6-minute walk distance(6MWD),Borg’s Category Scale for perceived exertion(BCSS),COPD Assessment Test(CAT),Barthel Index for activities of daily living,blood oxygen saturation,and Modified Medical Research Council(MMRC)dyspnea scale were compared between the two groups before and after intervention.Results:Following the intervention,the intervention group demonstrated improved lung function compared to the control group(P<0.05).However,no significant difference was observed in the 6-minute walk distance(6MWD)(P>0.05).The intervention group had lower Bronchitis Severity Scale(BCSS)scores(P<0.05)and better quality of life scores(P<0.05)than the control group.No notable differences were found in activities of daily living scores or blood oxygen saturation(P>0.05).Additionally,the intervention group exhibited a lower proportion of residual severe dyspnea(P<0.05).Conclusion:Pulmonary rehabilitation can enhance respiratory function in individuals with COPD,leading to beneficial therapeutic outcomes and ultimately improving their overall quality of life.展开更多
BACKGROUND The intricate relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and diabetic nephropathy(DN)presents a challenge in understanding the significance of various biomarkers in diagnosis.AIM To elucidate the ro...BACKGROUND The intricate relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and diabetic nephropathy(DN)presents a challenge in understanding the significance of various biomarkers in diagnosis.AIM To elucidate the roles and diagnostic values ofα2-macroglobulin(α2-MG),podocalyxin(PCX),α-L-fucosidase(AFU),retinol-binding protein-4(RBP-4),and cystatin C(CysC)in DN.METHODS From December 2018 to December 2020,203 T2DM patients were enrolled in the study.Of these,115 were diagnosed with DN(115 patients),while the remaining 88 patients were classified as non-DN.The urinary levels ofα2-MG,PCX,and AFU and the serum concentrations RBP-4 and CysC were measured in conjunction with other relevant clinical indicators to evaluate their potential correlations and diagnostic utility.RESULTS After adjustments for age and gender,significant positive correlations were observed between the biomarkers CysC,RBP-4,α2-MG/urinary creatinine(UCr),PCX/UCr,and AFU/UCr,and clinical indicators such as urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio(UACR),serum creatinine,urea,24-h total urine protein,and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR).Conversely,these biomarkers exhibited negative correlations with the estimated glomerular filtration rate(P<0.05).Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis further demonstrated the diagnostic performance of these biomarkers,with UACR showcasing the highest area under the ROC curve(AUC^(ROC))at 0.97.CONCLUSION This study underscores the diagnostic significance ofα2-MG,PCX,and AFU in the development of DN.The biomarkers RBP-4,CysC,PCX,AFU,andα2-MG provide promising diagnostic insights,while UACR is the most potent diagnostic biomarker in assessing DN.展开更多
Objective:To explore the feasibility of tiotropium bromide therapy and its effect on the lung function of patients with asthma-COPD overlap syndrome(ACOS).Method:The 58 subjects selected in this study were all ACOS pa...Objective:To explore the feasibility of tiotropium bromide therapy and its effect on the lung function of patients with asthma-COPD overlap syndrome(ACOS).Method:The 58 subjects selected in this study were all ACOS patients admitted to our hospital(Hohhot First Hospital)from October 2020 to October 2022.They were grouped according to the random number table method and divided into a control group(29 cases)and an observation group(29 cases).The control group received routine treatment plus salmeterol-fluticasone powder inhalation treatment,and the observation group received tiotropium bromide treatment.The relevant indicators of the two groups were compared.Results:The total clinical effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group.Besides,the forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory volume in 1 second(FEV1)levels,and ACT scores of the two groups increased after treatment,with the observation group having better results than the control group.The residual volume-total lung capacity ratio(RV/TLC),acute exacerbation frequency,and CAT scores all decreased,with the observation group showing smaller values than the control group.The difference between the results of both groups were significant(P<0.05)Conclusion:Tiotropium bromide has a significant clinical effect in the treatment of ACOS patients and can effectively improve the lung function of patients.展开更多
