Effects of different water levels on phytoplankton in the Harbin section of the Songhua River

The functional diversity index of a phytoplankton body has gradually become a new mean of measuring and research.To explore the response of phytoplankton taxonomy and the functional diversity index to interannual environmental changes,a survey on the structure of the phytoplankton community and water physicochemical characteristics of the water was carried out at 28 sampling points in the Harbin section of the Songhua River for three consecutive years in every May from 2021 to 2023.The taxonomy diversity index and the functional diversity index were calculated.Firstly,The relationship between the structure of the characteristics of the community and environmental factors was explored;secondly,we reveal the responses of taxonomic and functional diversity indices to different habitats between years;finally,we explore the main environmental factors that control the taxonomic and functional diversity indices of phytoplankton.Results show that,initially,environmental factors in water changes caused by different water levels between years affected the composition of phytoplankton communities.Subsequently,by comparing the taxonomic diversity index and the functional diversity index on a time scale,we found that the taxonomic diversity index was more responsive to environmental changes.Ultimately,the main environmental factors on the phytoplankton taxonomic diversity index were dissolved oxygen,Taxonomic diversity index,and specific conductivity,and the main environmental factors that affected the functional diversity index were dissolved oxygen,turbidity,and water temperature.This study reveals the important role of the taxonomic diversity index in river water quality evaluation,obtained new information on the relative precision of the taxonomic diversity index and the functional diversity index in the evaluation of ecological health of the water,and provided a reliable tool for monitoring river water quality based on aquatic organisms. 展开更多

Epidemiological Characteristics of Hepatitis B in Harbin from 2010 to 2023

Objective:To analyze the distribution characteristics and trends of hepatitis B in Harbin and provide evidence for the development of hepatitis B prevention and control strategies.Methods:Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to analyze the three-dimensional distribution characteristics and epidemiological trends of hepatitis B data in Harbin from 2010 to 2023.Results:A total of 38,604 cases of hepatitis B were reported in Harbin from 2010 to 2023,with an average annual incidence rate of 26.38 per 100,000.The majority of hepatitis B cases were chronic.There was no obvious seasonal distribution pattern of hepatitis B.The average incidence rate was lowest in the<10-year-old group(1.72 per 100,000)and highest in the 40-year-old group(34.71 per 100,000).Cases were mainly concentrated in the 30-69-year-old population,accounting for 75.35%.The male-to-female ratio was 1.35:1.The majority of cases were farmers,accounting for 57.31%.Conclusion:Except for a significant decrease from 2020 to 2022,the overall incidence of hepatitis B showed a trend of decreasing first and then increasing from 2010 to 2023.The prevention and control measures for the 0-19-year-old population were effective.It is necessary to strengthen the prevention and control of hepatitis B among adults over 20 years old,especially to develop differentiated hepatitis B prevention and control strategies targeting key areas and high-risk populations. 展开更多

Modeling the effects of urban park 3D environmental features on bird diversity with interpretable machine learning:A case study of Harbin,northeastern China

Urban parks are essential habitats for birds in densely built environments.However,most studies focus only on horizontal features,overlooking the role of integrated vertical structures.Using bird records from the China Bird Report(CBR) collected between 2020 and 2024,this study focused on major urban parks in Harbin,a cold highlatitude city in Northeast China.Using interpretable machine learning models,we assessed the impact of threedimensional(3D) park features on bird species richness and identified key variables along with their nonlinear relationships.Subsequently,we grouped bird species by ecological traits and applied ordination analysis to assess their differential abundance responses to the 3D environmental characteristics of urban parks.Results showed that:(1) urban park 3D environmental features had a certain influence on bird richness,among which disturbance from built-up land and the coverage of commercial buildings were the most important factors;(2) different bird groups responded differently to the urban park 3D environmental features.Specifically,waterbirds and generalist birds preferred mixed habitats dominated by water,wetlands,and tall vegetation,and exhibited significant edge effects caused by built-up land disturbance.In contrast,forest birds were mainly affected by greenspace configuration.Although they showed tolerance to human disturbance,this trend may increase the risk of biotic homogenization.The study used a 3D environmental framework integrating horizontal and vertical dimensions to explore how bird diversity is shaped,providing detailed recommendations for biodiversitysensitive park planning in Harbin. 展开更多

Analysis of Allergens in 5473 Patients with Allergic Diseases in Harbin, China 被引量:11

Objective To analyze the allergic status to common inhalant allergens and food allergens in clinical patients in Harbin in northeastern China and provide evidence to develop the prevention strategy of allergic disease. Methods The data were collected from 5 473 patients with clinical suspected allergic diseases seeking medical care in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University. Among these patients, 2 530 (46.2%) were males aged 0-86 years, the youngest was only 1 month old and 2 579 (47.1%) were young children and teenagers. The serum specific Immunoglobulin E (slgE) to 14 kinds of common allergens and serum total IgE were detected by using AllergyScreen test (Mediwiss Analytic GmbH, Moers, Germany). Results In 5 473 subjects the positive rate of slgE was 33.1% (n=1 813). Cow milk (6.9%) and wheat (3.1%) were the most common food allergens, followed by house dust mite mix (12.5%) and mould mix (9.4%) and the age and gender specific differences in the positive rate were significant. For the children aged 〈7 years the positive rates to cow milk, beef-mutton, and egg white/egg yolk were high, but the positive rates to house dust mite mix, ragweed estragon, and mould mix were low (P〈0.05). For the adults the positive rates to aeroallergens were high while the rates to food allergens were low. Conclusion The results from this study showed that the food allergens in Harbin had geographic characteristics, which support the viewpoint that the environment factors play an important role in the incidence of allergic diseases. Also, the detection of slgE and total IgE are essential to identify relevant allergens for the purpose of early diagnosis, management and prevention of allergic disease. 展开更多

From the sedimentologic view, this paper analyses the grain-size distribution and the chemical composition of the deposits from sand-dust storm, occurring in Harbin on March 20, 2002. The result indicates that there exist plentiful coarse matters in the sand-dust deposits in Harbin, and the sand-dust composition presents obvious three peak distribution characteristics, indicating that the sand-dust in Harbin is composed of multi-origin components. The grain-size composition consists of silt (4-8Φ), accounting for 71.18% of the total, sand (〉4Φ), 21.70%, and clay (〈8Φ), only 7.13%. The average grain size (Mz) is 5.14Φ. The chemical elements of the deposits are mainly SiO2 and A1203 and Fe203, totally occupying 77.8%. The enrichment factors (EF) of Mg, K, Si, Fe, Mn, P, Ti, Co, Ni and V elements are all about 1, which mainly come fi'om lithosphere source, while parts of Cu, Pb, Zn, Cr and Se elements are from pollution sources out of lithosphere source, and As, Cd and Sb elements are mainly from pollution sources. Based on the comprehensive analysis of grain-size, chemical composition, enrichment factor (EF), discriminant function (DF) and matter source index (PI), this paper points out that the grain-size distribution and element composition of the sand-dust deposits in Harbin are evidently different from the loess and sand-dust in Lanzhou, and that matter source of the sand-dust in Harbin is different from the loess in Northwest China and the sand-dust in Lanzhon. The sand-dust deposits in Harbin are an admixture of coarse grains transmitted in short distance and fine grains transported in long distance. The plentiful coarse grains of the sand-dust deposits in Harbin origin from sand of local spot, and are the near-souroe deposits transported by low altitude airflow. 展开更多

Simulation of Urban Land Expansion Under Ecological Constraints in Harbin-Changchun Urban Agglomeration,China 被引量:7

Under the demand of urban expansion and the constraints of China’s’National Main Functional Area Planning’policy,urban agglomerations are facing with a huge contradiction between land utilization and ecological protection,especially for HarbinChangchun urban agglomeration who owns a large number of land used for the protection of agricultural production and ecological function.To alleviate this contradiction and provide insight into future land use patterns under different ecological constraints’scenarios,we introduced the patch-based land use simulation(PLUS)model and simulated urban expansion of the Harbin-Changchun urban agglomeration.After verifying the accuracy of the simulation result in 2018,we predicted future urban expansion under the constraints of three different ecological scenarios in 2026.The morphological spatial pattern analysis(MSPA)method and minimum cumulative resistance(MCR)model were also introduced to identify different levels of ecological security pattern(ESP)as ecological constraints.The predicted result of the optimal protection(OP)scenario showed less proportion of water and forest than those of natural expansion(NE)and basic protection(BP)scenarios in 2026.The conclusions are that the PLUS model can improve the simulation accuracy at urban agglomeration scale compared with other cellular automata(CA)models,and the future urban expansion under OP scenario has the least threat to the ecosystem,while the expansion under the natural expansion(NE)scenario poses the greatest threat to the ecosystem.Combined with the MSPA and MCR methods,PLUS model can also be used in other spatial simulations of urban agglomerations under ecological constraints. 展开更多

Associated with the rapid economic development of China, the level of urbanization is becoming a serious concern. Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjiang Province, China and one of the political, economic, cultural, and transportation centers of the northeastern region of China, has experienced rapid urbanization recently. To examine the spatial patterns of long-term urbanization and explore its driving forces, we employed the impervious surface fraction derived from remote sensing image as a primary indicator. Specifically, urban imper- vious surface information for the central city of Harbin in 1984, 1993, 2002, and 2010 was extracted from Landsat Thematic Mapper image using a Linear Spectral Mixture Analysis (LMSA). Then, the spatial and temporal variation characteristics and the driving factors of percent impervious surface area (ISA) changes were analyzed throughout this 26-year period (1984 to 2010). Analysis of results suggests that: (1) ISAs in the central city of Harbin con- stantly increased, particularly from 1993 to 2010, a rapid urbanization period; (2) the gravity center of impervious surface area in the central city was located in Nangang District in 1984, moving southeast from 1984 to 1993, northwest from 1993 to 2002, and continuing toward the southeast from 2002 to 2010; and (3) the urban growth of the central city can be character- ized as edge-type growth. 展开更多

It is an effective way in realizing urban coordinated and sustainable development to establish a series of in- dicators and to evaluate urban environmental and socioeconomic development. According to the characteristics of Harbin City in Northeast China, an indicator system including five subsystems and 37 indicators was established for comprehensive evaluation on urban sustainable development. The development indexes of all urban subsystems and complex system were calculated quantitatively using the comprehensively integrated methods composed of Principle Component Analysis, Analytic Hierarchy Process and weighed index method, and then the comprehensive level of ur- ban sustainable development and the degree of urban interior coordination were analyzed. The results indicated that 1) the overall urban development presented an uptrend, however, the interior development was not well balanced from 1996 to 2006; 2) the development in each subsystem presented a strong fluctuation; and 3) the development in re- sources subsystem showed a downtrend. Based on those results, the suggestions of urban sustainable development were put forward at the end. 展开更多

Aerosol plays a key role in determining radiative balance, regional climate and human health.Severe air pollution over Northeast China in recent years urges more comprehensive studies to figure out the adverse effects caused by excessive aerosols. In this study, column aerosol measurements over urban Harbin, a metropolis located at the highest latitude in Northeast China, during May 2016 to March 2017 were conducted using a CIMEL sun-photometer to analyze local aerosol properties and its variation from different aspects. According to the observations, aerosol optical depth at 440 nm(AOD_(440)) ranges from 0.07 up to 1.54, and the large variability in both AOD_(440) and Angstrom Exponent(AE_(440–870)) indicates the frequent change of aerosol types due of different emission sources. Coarse mode particles dominated Harbin during the studying period because of the long-range transported dust and probably the suspended snow crystals in winter. As the wavelength increases, relatively consistent decrease trends of single scattering albedo(SSA) and asymmetry factor(ASY) were observed in spring, autumn, and winter, indicating the presence of absorbing polluted aerosols. Mixed type(MIX) aerosol dominated the study region with a total percentage of 34%, and biomass burning and urban industry(BB/UI), clean continental(CC), and desert dust(DD) aerosols were found to be 31%, 27%, and 8%, respectively. The current work fills up the optical characteristics of aerosols in Harbin, and will contribute to the in-depth understanding of local aerosol variation and regional climate change over Northeast China. 展开更多

The article analyzed the dynamic change of land-use ecological footprint in Harbin City from 1996 to 2006. Through the measurement of ecological footprint to assess the social impact and the extent of sustainable land-use. The results showed that the per capita ecological footprint in Harbin had increased year by year, while the per capita ecological carrying capacity had decreased, the per capita ecological deficit was increasing, and land-use in Harbin City was in an overload status. A comparative evaluation of three different cell-disruption methods for the release of hydrogenase from H2 -producing bacterium E. harbinenase YUAN-3T was investigated. The cell disruption techniques evaluated in this study were uhrasonieation, high-speed homogenization and bead milling. Ultrasonication process was found to be the most effective method in terms of cell disruption. As for the specific activity of hydrogenase, there is no significant difference among the three kinds of methods. An orthogonal experiment L9 (34) was designed to optimize the procedures of ultrasonication for cell disruption. The optimized uhrasonication disruption conditions were the treatment at 250 W, 20 kHz, 30 s/15 s and 0. 30 g bacteria cell (dry weight) in 15 mL suspension buffer. As a result, the optimized conditions allow the hydrogenase to maintain the active form with the yield of 93.95 mg protein/g cell and the final activity of 0. 252 μmol/min/mg protein. In this work, we have developed and optimized an ultrasonication protocol for YUAN-3T cel]s, which is adapted to laboratory- scale release of hydrogenase proteins. 展开更多

Chemical characteristics and source apportionment of atmospheric particles during heating period in Harbin, China 被引量:6

Atmospheric particles(total suspended particles(TSPs); particulate matter(PM) with particle size below 10 μm, PM10; particulate matter with particle size below 2.5 μm, PM2.5)were collected and analyzed during heating and non-heating periods in Harbin. The sources of PM10 and PM2.5were identified by the chemical mass balance(CMB) receptor model.Results indicated that PM2.5/TSP was the most prevalent and PM2.5was the main component of PM210, while the presence of PM10–100was relatively weak. SO-4and NO-3concentrations were more significant than other ions during the heating period. As compared with the non-heating period, Mn, Ni, Pb, S, Si, Ti, Zn, As, Ba, Cd, Cr, Fe and K were relatively higher during the heating period. In particular, Mn, Ni, S, Si, Ti, Zn and As in PM2.5were obviously higher during the heating period. Organic carbon(OC) in the heating period was 2–5 times higher than in the non-heating period. Elemental carbon(EC) did not change much. OC/EC ratios were 8–11 during the heating period, which was much higher than in other Chinese cities(OC/EC: 4–6). Results from the CMB indicated that 11 pollution sources were identified, of which traffic, coal combustion, secondary sulfate, secondary nitrate, and secondary organic carbon made the greatest contribution. Before the heating period, dust and petrochemical industry made a larger contribution. In the heating period, coal combustion and secondary sulfate were higher. After the heating period, dust and petrochemical industry were higher. Some hazardous components in PM2.5were higher than in PM10, because PM2.5has a higher ability to absorb toxic substances. Thus PM2.5pollution is more significant regarding human health effects in the heating period. 展开更多

This study reports the presence of brominated flame retardants in the topsoil in and around Harbin, a city in northeastern China. Samples of soil were collected from 17 locations in 2006, and the levels of 9 polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDEs 17, 28, 47, 66, 99, 100, 153, 154, and 183) ranged from 2.45 to 55.9 pg/g dry weight (dw) with a mean of 26.3 pg/g dw. These levels are very low comparing with those for some cities in Europe and USA. BDE 209 and hexabromocyclododecane were the two dominant congeners, with mean concentrations of 520 pg/g dw and 1750 pg/g dw, respectively. The concentrations of the total nine PBDE congeners clearly decreased from urban areas to background, but the compositions of individual congeners differed. Proportions of heavier congeners decreased while those of lighter congeners increased, along urban-rural-background transect, providing evidence for an urban fractionation effect. Correlation analysis indicated similar sources for PBDEs, hexabromocyclododecane, and 1,2-bis(2,4,6-tribromophenoxy)-ethane from urban areas but pentabromoethylbenzene was probably present due to long-range atmospheric transport. Principal component analysis was used to determine the characteristics of the relationships among these brominated flame retardants in the field. 展开更多

Water regime and nitrogen(N) fertilizer are two important factors impacting greenhouse gases(GHG) emission from paddy field, whereas their effects have not been well studied in cold region. In this study, we conducted a two-year field experiment to study the impacts of water regime and N fertilizer on rice yields and GHG emissions in Harbin, China, a cold region located in high latitudes. Our results showed that intermittent irrigation significantly decreased methane(CH4) emission compared with continuous flooding, however,the decrement was far lower than the global average level. The N2O emissions were very small when flooded but peaked at the beginning of the disappearance of floodwater. The N fertilizer treatments increased CH4 emissions at low level(75 kg N/ha). But both CH4 and N2O emissions were uninfluenced at the levels of 150 kg N/ha and 225 kg N/ha. Rice yields increased under intermittent irrigation and were highest at the level of 150 kg N/ha. From our results, we recommended that the intermittent irrigation and 150 kg N/ha as the ideal water regime-nitrogen fertilizer incorporation for this area to achieve low GHG emissions without impacting rice yields. 展开更多

Based on sounding data from 1975 to 2005 and TM/ETM+ remote sensing images in 1989, 2001 and 2007, the climate changes in Harbin City, Northeast China in recent 30 years were analyzed and forecasted. Results show that in the lower troposphere the meridional wind speed and mean annual wind speed decrease, and in the lower stratosphere the temperature decreases while the meridional wind speed increases significantly. In the study area, the climate is becoming warmer and wetter in the middle lower troposphere. The expansion of urban area has great effects on the surface air temperature and the wind speed, leading to the increase of the surface air temperature, the decrease of the surface wind speed, and the increase of the area of urban high temperature zone. The quantitative equations have been established among the surface air temperature, the carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration and the specific humidity (the water vapor content). It is predicted that the future increasing rate of the surface air temperature is 0.85℃/10yr if emission concentration of CO2 remains unchanged; if emission concentration of CO2 decreases to 75%, 50% and 25%, respectively, the surface air temperature will increase 0.65℃/10yr, 0.46℃/10yr and 0.27℃/10yr, respectively. The rise of the surface air temperature in the study area is higher than that of the global mean temperature forecasted by IPCC. 展开更多
