Influence of work-family facilitation on work engagement among physical education teachers

BACKGROUND Enhancing work engagement among physical education(PE)teachers is crucial for building a strong sports nation and fostering educational advancement.However,PE teachers frequently experience conflicts between work and family roles,significantly impacting their professional involvement.The concept of work-family facilitation,highlighting mutual facilitation between work and family domains,has considerable theoretical and practical significance but remains underexplored in this context.This study integrates ecosystem theory,spillover theory,social exchange theory,and two-factor theory to systematically explore the mechanism through which work-family facilitation influences work engagement.Specifically,it investigates the roles of psychological resilience and job satisfaction in this relationship,providing a novel theoretical perspective and empirical evidence.AIM To systematically explore the mechanism through which work-family facilitation influences work engagement among PE teachers.METHODS A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted among 436 PE teachers.Structural equation modeling was used to examine relationships among variables and assess mediating effects.RESULTS Work-family facilitation positively correlated with psychological resilience,job satisfaction,and work engagement(r=0.323-0.705,P<0.001).Psychological resilience and job satisfaction fully mediated the relationship between work-family facilitation and work engagement,demonstrating a significant chain mediation effect.CONCLUSION This study confirms that promoting work-family facilitation enhances psychological resilience and job satisfaction,thereby significantly boosting work engagement among PE teachers.These findings underline the importance of targeted interventions to enhance work-family resources,psychological resilience,and job satisfaction,contributing to theoretical advancements and practical implications for educational management. 展开更多

Background:The Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility(TPSR)model in physical education(PE)has been shown to promote Social and emotional competence(SEC).However,the underlying mechanisms through which TPSR enhances SEC,particularly in university students within the Chinese context,remain unclear.This study aims to explore the effects of TPSR and the mediating roles of self-efficacy and grit in improving SEC.Methods:71 Chinese university students were in the TPSR group,and 39 in the Traditional Teaching Model(TTM)control group,assessed before and after a 14-week intervention.The Adapted Social and Emotional Competence Scale(ASECS),General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES),and Short Grit Scale(SGS)were used for measurement.A mixed-design ANOVA assessed TPSR’s effects,with post-hoc t-tests for pre-post differences and mediation analysis for underlying mechanisms.Results:The mixed-design ANOVA revealed a significant interaction between time and intervention on SEC.The TPSR group showed significant improvement from pre-test to post-test(t(70)=−2.63,p=0.011,Cohen’s d=−0.31),whereas the TTM control group did not(t(38)=1.40,p=0.170,Cohen’s d=0.22).The TPSR group also showed a significant increase in self-efficacy(t(70)=−3.67,p<0.001,Cohen’s d=−0.44),while no change was observed in the TTM group(t(38)=0.62,p=0.540,Cohen’s d=0.10).No significant effects were found for grit(F=0.342,p=0.560).Mediation analysis confirmed that self-efficacy significantly mediated the effects of the TPSR intervention on SEC(95%CI:0.0277 to 0.2897).Conclusion:The TPSR intervention led to significant improvements in university students’SEC and self-efficacy,with no significant changes observed in grit.Self-efficacy served as a mediator in the relationship between the intervention and SEC. 展开更多

Comparative Analysis of the Climate in the Barents Sea and Greenland Sea for a Perturbation of the Sea-to-Air Flux of Dimethylsulfide

An atmospheric general circulation model(AGCM)is used to analyze the different impact on the Barents Sea(BS)and Greenland Sea(GS)for a perturbation of sea-to-air DMS flux.We compare contemporary anthropogenic S and contemporary DMS sea-to-air flux(as baseline,B00)sulfur emissions,with contemporary anthropogenic S and a perturbed DMS flux(as modified,B01)sulfur emissions.Results show that the global mean surface DMS and DMS vertically integrated concentration all peaked in June and increases more than 63%in BS and increases about 58%in GS.The concentrations of atmospheric sulfur dioxide vertical integral(SO_(2))and sulfate vertical integral(SO_(4))only increase less than 12%in both regions.Sulfur emission(SEM)peaked in June and increased about 67%and 41%in GS and BS,respectively.Aerosol optical depth(AOD)increases less than 4%in GS and in BS.Surface temperature(TSC)peaked in July and reduces 0.25 K and 0.8 K in GS and BS,respectively.Satellite data from 2003 to 2023show that chlorophyll(CHL)concentration in BS exceeds that of GS by 51%.The AOD in GS is only 0.6%higher than in BS.The recent increased rate of DMS surface concentration in BS(from 6%during 1981–2002 to 18.8%in 2003–2023)is mainly caused by elevated CHL concentrations in BS.Finally,the perturbation on DMS flux leads to increase rate of DMS and related sulfur emissions especially in the BS,this tendency will have an offsetting effect on regional warming. 展开更多

Hesitation analysis plays a crucial role in decision-making processes by capturing the intermediary position between supportive and opposing information.This study introduces a refined approach to addressing uncertainty in decision-making,employing existing measures used in decision problems.Building on information theory,the Kullback–Leibler(KL)divergence is extended to incorporate additional insights,specifically by applying temporal data,as illustrated by time series data fromtwo datasets(e.g.,affirmative and dissent information).Cumulative hesitation provides quantifiable insights into the decision-making process.Accordingly,a modified KL divergence,which incorporates historical trends,is proposed,enabling dynamic updates using conditional probability.The efficacy of this enhanced KL divergence is validated through a case study predicting Korean election outcomes.Immediate and historical data are processed using direct hesitation calculations and accumulated temporal information.The computational example demonstrates that the proposed KL divergence yields favorable results compared to existing methods. 展开更多

The demand for extended electric vehicle(EV)range necessitates advanced lightweighting strategies.This study introduces a materials genome approach,augmented by machine learning(ML),for optimizing lightweight composite designs for EVs.A comprehensive materials genome database was developed,encompassing composites based on carbon,glass,and natural fibers.This database systematically records critical parameters such as mechanical properties,density,cost,and environmental impact.Machine learning models,including Random Forest,Support Vector Machines,and Artificial Neural Networks,were employed to construct a predictive system for material performance.Subsequent material composition optimization was performed using amulti-objective genetic algorithm.Experimental validation demonstrated that an optimized carbon fiber/bio-based resin composite achieved a 45%weight reduction compared to conventional steel,while maintaining equivalent structural strength.The predictive accuracy of the models reached 94.2%.A cost-benefit analysis indicated that despite a 15%increase in material cost,the overall vehicle energy consumption decreased by 12%,leading to an 18%total cost saving over a five-year operational lifecycle,under a representative mid-size battery electric vehicle(BEV)operational scenario. 展开更多

Based on the fundamental equations of piezoelasticity of quasicrystals (QCs), with the symmetry operations of point groups, the plane piezoelasticity theory of one- dimensional (1D) QCs with all point groups is investigated systematically. The gov- erning equations of the piezoelasticity problem for 1D QCs including monoclinic QCs, orthorhombic QCs, tetragonal QCs, and hexagonal QCs are deduced rigorously. The general solutions of the piezoelasticity problem for these QCs are derived by the opera- tor method and the complex variable function method. As an application, an antiplane crack problem is further considered by the semi-inverse method, and the closed-form so- lutions of the phonon, phason, and electric fields near the crack tip are obtained. The path-independent integral derived from the conservation integral equals the energy release rate. 展开更多

Ancient Chinese medical theories advocate forging a narrative bond with patients, urging healthcare practitioners to utilize Dao Shu Jie He(道术结合 integration of Dao and techniques) and Yi Dao Yu Shu(以道驭术 guiding techniques with Dao) during diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. In this context, Dao(道) in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) corresponds to narrative thinking(叙事思维) while Shu(术) aligns with scientific thinking(科学思维) in evidence-based medicine. This study adopts “narrative Chinese medicine” within the “discourse system of Chinese narrative medicine” as its framework, centering on medical stories that exemplify the application of narrative thinking in ancient Chinese diagnosis and treatment. It delves into the narrative thinking encapsulated in Chinese medicine, such as Guan Wu Qu Xiang(观物取象 observing things and extracting information), Can He Er Xing(参合而行 final examination and decision by integrating the four diagnoses), Xing Shen Bing Zhi(形神并治 body-spirit treatment), Xin Shen Jian Li(心身兼理 mind-body balance) and Bian Zheng Lun Zhi(辨证论治 treatment based on pattern differentiation). In this editorial,we will discuss the article by Tang et al published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology.They explored an innovative approach to enhancing gemcitabine(GEM)delivery and efficacy using human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(HU-BMSCs)-derived exosomes.The manufacture of GEM-loaded HU-BMSCs-derived exosomes(Exo-GEM)has been optimized.The Tang et al’s study demonstrated that Exo-GEM exhibits enhanced cytotoxicity and apoptosis-inducing effects compared to free GEM,highlighting the potential of exosome-based drug delivery systems as a more effective and targeted approach to chemotherapy in pancreatic cancer.Additional in vivo studies are required to confirm the safety and effectiveness of Exo-GEM before it can be considered for clinical use. 展开更多

In this paper,we investigate the optimal investment strategy for a target-return pension plan under a Wishart model using stochastic optimal control methods.We consider the fact that mortality and interest rates are affected by a combination of systematic and idiosyncratic factors,which are modelled by a Wishart model with positive values.On this basis,we analyse the correlation between stochastic mortality and stochastic wage rates for plan members,as well as wage movements and financial market volatility.It is shown that financial market parameters and wage rates have a significant impact on the optimal investment strategy.We provide the optimal investment strategy and the optimal yield adjustment strategy for target-return pensions.This study provides a valuable reference for policy formulation and implementation of target-return pension plans in China. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Physical activity(PA)is a key contributor to the neurocognitive and psychological development of children and adolescents.With the rapid integration of digital technologies in educational and recreational contexts,technology-enhanced PA(TEPA)interventions have emerged as promising tools for promoting mental and cognitive health.However,the effectiveness of various TEPA modalities—such as virtual reality(VR),mobile applications,and biofeedback systems—remains unclear.Prior findings are fragmented across systematic reviews with inconsistent methodologies.This umbrella review was conducted to synthesize current evidence and evaluate whether specific TEPA modalities yield differential benefits.We hypothesized that TEPA interventions with immersive and selfregulatory features provide greater enhancements in executive function(EF),cognitive function(CF),and mental health(MH)than passive or minimally interactive formats.AIM To determine the effects of TEPA interventions and modality-specific characteristics on EF,CF,and MH outcomes in children and adolescents.METHODS An umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses was conducted in accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 guidelines.Five databases(PubMed,Web of Science,EMBASE,EBSCOhost,and Cochrane Library)were searched up to March 2025.Eligible reviews included participants aged≤18 years,assessed TEPA interventions,and reported EF,CF,or MH outcomes.Methodological quality was assessed using A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews 2.Data synthesis was stratified by intervention modality,and heterogeneity was evaluated using the I^(2)statistic.RESULTS A total of 11 systematic reviews and meta-analyses were included.Interventions using VR(2/2),game-based formats(2/2),biofeedback(2/2),and multicomponent programs(1/1)showed consistent evidence of improvements in EF and MH(e.g.,EF:6.92±3.86 vs 3.61±1.67,P<0.001).App-based interventions(3/3)demonstrated mixed or modest effects,while augmented reality-based formats showed limited efficacy.MH outcomes were most frequently improved(9/11 reviews),followed by EF(6/11 reviews)and CF(5/11 reviews).Heterogeneity ranged from moderate to high(I^(2)=42%-78%)across modalities.CONCLUSION TEPA significantly improves MH and selectively enhances executive and CF in youth.Immersive,interactive,and biofeedback-driven modalities are particularly effective. 展开更多

Multinational corporations(MNCs)play a pivotal role in driving sustainable development by effectively implementing Environmental,Social,and Governance(ESG)strategies.This study adopts the lens of Social Cognitive Theory to analyze how MNCs operating in China can optimize human capital to enhance ESG outcomes.By exploring the interplay between individual cognition,organizational culture,and incentive mechanisms,the research establishes a human capital-driven framework for ESG implementation.Key findings emphasize the importance of cultivating ESG awareness among employees,fostering an ESG-centric organizational culture,and designing robust incentive structures to align individual behaviors with corporate sustainability goals.This comprehensive approach offers practical insights for MNCs striving to balance profitability with social responsibility and environmental stewardship in a rapidly evolving global landscape. 展开更多

On Numerical Examples of Boundary Knot Method for Helmholtz-Type Equation

The boundary knot method(BKM)is a simple boundary-type meshless method.Due to the use of non-singular general solutions rather than singular fundamental solutions,BKM does not need to consider the artificial boundary.Therefore,this method has the merits of purely meshless,easy to program,high solution accuracy and so on.In this paper,we investigate the effectiveness of the BKM for solving Helmholtz-type problems under various conditions through a series of novel numerical experiments.The results demonstrate that the BKM is efficient and achieves high computational accuracy for problems with smooth or continuous boundary conditions.However,when applied to discontinuous boundary problems,the method exhibits significant numerical instability,potentially leading to substantial deviations in the computed results.Finally,three potential improvement strategies are proposed to mitigate this limitation. 展开更多

Interpreting is a fast-paced activity where interpreters must make quick choices when faced with uncertainty. This study looks at how professional interpreters handle linguistic uncertainty in English-Chinese sight translation, with a focus on the strategies they use. By analyzing transcription data alongside instructor evaluations, we found that interpreters relied most on creative interpretation and omission, while strategies like paraphrasing, simplification, transformation, addition, and generalization appeared less often. The results show a clear preference for strategies that keep communication flowing without adding unnecessary cognitive load. These findings support the Processing Economy Hypothesis, which suggests interpreters naturally seek efficient ways to process language while maintaining meaning. The study also highlights practical implications for interpreter training, emphasizing the value of flexible, economy-oriented strategies to help interpreters stay fluent under pressure. 展开更多
