Microstructure, chemical and phase composition and corrosion performance of the carbonitriding layers are investigated by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction, as well as potentiodynamic polarization testing. X-ray diffraction results show that the carbonitriding coatings are composed of martensite, anstenite(γ-Fe), Fe2C, Fe3C, Fe5 C2, FeN and ε-Fe2-3N. After the plasma electrolytic carbonitriding treatment the corrosion resistance of cast iron is clearly improved compared to the substrate, and the coatings produced at 350 V for 30s give the best corrosion resistance.展开更多

The discharge parameters, such as the operating frequency, gas flow rate, ...An dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) system in atmospheric pressure utilized for the treatment of industrial landfill leachate is reported. The discharge parameters, such as the operating frequency, gas flow rate, and treating duration, were found to affect significantly the removal of ammonia nitrogen (AN) in industrial landfill leachate. An increase in treating duration leads to an obvious increase in the removal efficiency of AN (up to 83%) and the leachate color changed from deep grey-black to transparent. Thus the dielectric barrier discharges in atmospheric pressure could degrade the landfill leachate effectively. Typical waveforms of both applied voltage and discharge current were also presented for analyzing the discharge processes under different discharge parameters. Optical emission spectra measurements indicate that oxidation species generated in oxygen DBD plasma play a crucial role in removing AN, oxidizing organic and inorganic substances and decolorizing the landfill leachate.展开更多
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effects of moxibustion and acupuncture of Zusanli(ST 36)and Zhongwan(CV 12)acupoints on chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG)in rats,and to study the mechanisms behind their actions.METHODS:Forty-f...OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effects of moxibustion and acupuncture of Zusanli(ST 36)and Zhongwan(CV 12)acupoints on chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG)in rats,and to study the mechanisms behind their actions.METHODS:Forty-four male Sprague-Dawley rats were induced with CAG by intragastric administration of 40%ethanol combined with free drinking of N-methyl-N′-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine and irregular feeding for 12 weeks,followed by daily treatment with moxibustion or acupuncture for 2 weeks.Histopathologic examination,Western blotting of cytokines[epidermal growth factor(EGF),EGF receptor(EGFR),extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK),phosphorylated ERK(p-ERK)],and1 H NMR-based metabolic profiling of gastric tissues were used to measure changes related to CAG modeling and treatment.RESULTS:Moxibustion and acupuncture at Zusanli(ST 36)and Zhongwan(CV 12)each relieved CAG-induced abnormalities in histopathology and cytokine expression of ERK and p-ERK.Only moxibustion treatment regulated the expression of EGF and EGFR.Metabolites that were increased in gastric tissue by CAG induction(alanine,nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate,uracil DNA glycosylase,lactate,glycerol and adenosine)were restored to normal levels after moxibustion treatment;acupuncture treatment only normalized the levels of adenosine monophosphate and glycerol.CONCLUSION:Our findings suggest that moxibustion or acupuncture at Zusanli(ST 36)and Zhongwan(CV 12)can significantly improve the condition of CAG in rats.These treatments exert their effects on CAG through different mechanisms.展开更多

Compared with the substrate, the deposited coatings display attractive mechani- cal and biomedical properties. First, the coatings have stronger wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Second, they show a strong antibacterial ability. The mean vitality of the P. gingivalis on the coating surfaces is reduced to about 21%. Third, the coatings have good biocompatibility. The mean viability of the fibroblast cells on the coating surface is increased to about 130%. With these attractive properties, Ag incorporated HA/TiO2 coatings may be useful in the biomedical field.展开更多

Current-voltage measurements and intens...A stable and homogeneous well-aligned air microplasma device for application at atmospheric pressure is designed and its electrical and optical characteristics are investigated. Current-voltage measurements and intensified charge coupled device (ICCD) images show that the well-aligned air microplasma device is able to generate a large-area and homogeneous discharge at the applied voltages ranging from 12 kV to 14 kV, with a repetition frequency of 5 kHz, which is attributed to the diffusion effect of plasma on dielectric surface. Moreover, this well-aligned microplasma device may result in the uniform and large-area surface modification of heat-sensitive PET polymers without damage, such as optimization in hydrophobicity and biocompatibility. In the biomedical field, the utility of this well-aligned microplasma device is further testified. It proves to be very efficient for the large-area and uniform inactivation of E. coli cells with a density of 103/cm2 on LB agar plate culture medium, and inactivation efficiency can reach up to 99% for 2-min treatment.展开更多

After plasma treatment, the water co...Polytetrafluoroethylene films are treated by room temperature helium atmospheric pressure plasma plumes, which are generated with a home-made single liquid electrode plasma device. After plasma treatment, the water contact angle of polytetrafiuoroethylene fihn drops from 114° to 46° and the surface free energy increases from 22.0 mJ/m2 to 59.1 mJ/m2. The optical emission spectrum indicates that there are reactive species such as O2+, O and He in the plasma plume. After plasma treatment, a highly crosslinking structure is formed on the fihn surface and the oxygen element is incorporated into the film surface in the forms of C O-C-, -C=O, and O C=O groups. Over a period of 10 days, the contact angle of the treated film is recovered by only about 10°, which indicates that the plasma surface modification is stable with time.展开更多
