Quantitative analysis of the relative tectonic activity of the Almus fault zone,Tokat,Türkiye

The Almus Fault Zone(AFZ)is one of the major splay faults of the North Anatolian Fault Zone(NAFZ)and is important for understanding its tectonic features and assessing regional seismic hazards.This research presents the integration of morphometric indices to quantitatively assess the spatial variation of tectonic activity along the AFZ.The AFZ is an active fault with both strike-slip and normal fault components and consists of two main branches,Mercimekdağı-Çamdere Fault(MÇF)and Tokat Fault(TF)segments.This study aims to assess the relative tectonic activity of the AFZ using various morphometric indices,based on a 10 m resolution DEM,with the aid of ArcGIS and MATLAB software.For this purpose,morphometric indices such as hypsometric integral(HI:0.35-0.65),mountain front sinuosity(Smf:1.3-1.44),valley floor width-height ratio(Vf:0.15-2.28),asymmetry factor(AF:23-77),drainage basin shape(Bs:1.13-6.10)and normalized steepness index(ksn:1-498)were applied to 53 drainage basins.When the Smf and mean Vf indices results were evaluated,it was calculated that the uplift ratio of the region was more than 0.5 mm/yr.The spatial distribution of the relative tectonic activity(Iat)of the area was revealed by combining the obtained morphometric indices analysis results.According to the Iat result,it was concluded that the MercimekdağıÇamdere Fault and Tokat Fault segments have high tectonic activity,but the Mercimekdağı-Çamdere Fault segment has higher tectonic activity.The results obtained were also confirmed by field observations.This research provides valuable information for the evaluation of tectonic activity in drainage systems controlled by splay faults. 展开更多

Self-compassion is an important psychological resource that improves health-related quality of life and diabetes self-management;however,the psychological processes underlying these associations remain unclear.This study examined the roles of meaning in life and resilience in the relationship between self-compassion and both health-related quality of life and diabetes self-management.Participants were 301 individuals living with type 2 diabetes(176(58.5%)females,M age=49.69,SD=12.36)conveniently selected from two tertiary healthcare institutions in Nigeria.They completed self-report measures of self-compassion,meaning in life,resilience,health-related quality of life and diabetes selfmanagement.Multiple regression analyses indicated that self-compassion positively predicted health-related quality of life and diabetes self-management.Meaning in life and resilience independently and positively predicted health-related quality of life and diabetes self-management.Mediation analysis showed that meaning in life mediated the association between self-compassion and health-related quality of life,as well as diabetes self-management.Likewise,resilience mediated the connection between self-compassion and health-related quality of life,and diabetes self-management behaviour.Intervention for diabetes self-management should focus on promoting self-compassion,meaning in life and resilience abilities of patients,as they can potentially improve health and self-care behaviours needed for recovery. 展开更多

This study focuses on 14 higher vocational colleges in Hainan Province.By collecting data from five dimensions-academic papers,research projects,patents,teacher teaching competitions,and teaching achievement awards-between 2020 and 2023,this research analyses the current status of teaching and research at these 14 higher vocational colleges in Hainan.Also evaluated the teaching and research capabilities of these institutions via the entropy value method.The findings reveal that academic papers of high volume and quality are predominantly found in Hainan’s higher vocational colleges designated as“Double High”institutions,which possess distinct professional characteris-tics.With respect to research projects,Hainan’s higher vocational colleges con-duct scientific research grounded in provincial conditions,with a focus on the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and key local industries.In terms of patents,Hainan’s higher vocational colleges place greater emphasis on the cultivation of utility model patents.With respect to teaching achievement awards,Hainan has a relatively high selection frequency,with a particular focus on participation from department heads and frontline teachers.In teacher teaching competitions,Hainan’s higher vocational colleges utilize their professional characteristics to develop competition projects centered around clusters of majors.On the basis of the results of the data analysis,recommendations are proposed for transforming research paradigms,building high-quality teaching and research teams,establishing a sustainable teaching and research evaluation system,and implementing categorized management for key and general institutions,providing a basis for enhancing teaching and research capabilities at Hainan’s higher vocational colleges. 展开更多

From Korea to Japan:The East Asian Transmission and Localization of Zhu Quan’s Huo Ren Xin

Since ancient times,humans have endeavored to maintain their health.These methods are collectively referred to as“Yang Sheng(养生)”or health preservation practices.The concept of Yang Sheng originated and was nurtured in ancient China.By the Ming dynasty,this practice had transcended the elite scholarly class and began to garner the attention of the general populace.With the development of the publishing industry,a large number of Yang Sheng-related books were created,disseminated,and widely read.Zhu Quan(朱权),a representative literatus of the Ming dynasty and a member of the imperial family,left behind a vast body of writings across multiple fields,including Yang Sheng,medicine,Daoism,history,drama,and phonology.Among these,his works on Yang Sheng and medicine were also transmitted to Korea and Japan,exerting an influence on East Asian Yang Sheng culture.Previous studies have largely lacked a systematic examination of Zhu Quan’s thought on Yang Sheng and have paid little attention to the transmission of this thought in Korea and Japan.This study begins with an analysis of his Yang Sheng-related text Huo Ren Xin(《活人心》Enlivening the Human Heart),and through an exploration of the core ideas in this work as well as its dissemination and reception in Korea and Japan,it attempts to shed light on the modes of transmission and exchange within East Asian Yang Sheng culture.First,the paper investigates the formation of Zhu Quan’s thinking by examining his life and intellectual background.It then analyzes the compilation,content,and conceptual features of Huo Ren Xin,and explores its transmission in Korea and Japan based on extant editions.Finally,through an examination of medical texts and literary works by scholars in Korea and Japan,the study further elucidates the acceptance and transmission of Zhu Quan’s Yang Sheng thought across East Asia. 展开更多

Mediating role of self-esteem in the relationship between parental disapproval of the child and alexithymic personality

BACKGROUND Alexithymia is defined as difficulties in identifying,expressing,and understanding emotions.An unapproving environment during childhood is defined as the child not receiving emotional approval from their parents,being punished,or having their emotions devalued.The formation of self-esteem is shaped by the influence of parental behavior during childhood.The commu-nication that the child establishes with their parents contributes to their increased self-esteem and sense of importance.The absence of this may play a role in developmental psychopathology.AIM To examine the mediating role of self-esteem in the relationship between a disapproving environment in childhood and alexithymia.METHODS The research in the relational screening model was conducted with 404 participants.Demographic Information Form,Disapproving Environment Scale in Childhood,Toronto Alexithymia Scale,and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale were used as data collection tools.Hayes’bootstrapping technique was used in the analysis of the data obtained from the research.RESULTS As a result of the analyses,parental disapproval positively predicted the level of alexithymia(rmother=0.51,rfather=0.52,P<0.05)and negatively predicted selfesteem(rmother=-0.75,rfather=-0.67,P<0.05).Additionally,self-esteem negatively predicted alexithymia(r=-0.58,P<0.05).It was observed that self-esteem had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between parental disapproval and alexithymia.Family types were analyzed separately as chaotic,approving,perfect,and typical.Of these,the chaotic family type positively predicted alexithymia(r=0.33,P<0.05)and negatively predicted self-esteem(r=-0.60,P<0.05).The approving family type negatively predicted alexithymia(r=-0.43,P<0.05)and positively predicted self-esteem(r=0.61,P<0.05).The perfect family type negatively predicted alexithymia(r=-0.27,P<0.05)and positively predicted self-esteem(r=-0.45,P<0.05).CONCLUSION The type of family in which the child grows up in and parental disapproval during childhood affected the child’s self-esteem and caused alexithymic personality traits. 展开更多

Emotional and semantic analysis of landscape elements in heritage parks:insights from social media data on visitor perception

Heritage parks preserve cultural heritage while contributing to education,recreation,and sustainable urban development.However,the relationships between landscape elements and visitors'emotional responses remain underexplored.This study aims to bridge this gap by analysing social media reviews to understand how various landscape elements in heritage parks influence emotional experiences,offering insights for enhancing park services and promoting practical cultural heritage preservation.Using data from 63,288 visitor reviews(2018–2023)across five major social media platforms,this research focuses on five heritage parks in Xi'an as case studies.By employing latent Dirichlet allocation(LDA)topic modelling,sentiment analysis,and social network analysis(SNA),we identified five key categories of landscape elements:cultural landscapes,biological and natural environments,framework and service facilities,special activities,and architecture and infrastructure.Sentiment analysis revealed that cultural landscapes elicited the highest positive emotional response score(64.9%),reflecting their historical and aesthetic significance.Framework and service facilities had the highest emotional intensity score(8.09),emphasising their functional role in enhancing visitor satisfaction.In contrast,the biological and natural environments presented weaker emotional appeal(6.86).This study provides a novel framework linking emotional responses to specific landscape features,offering practical guidance for optimising heritage park management and supporting the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. 展开更多

Despite compulsory Chinese requirements (Level 4 HSK), a non-immersive environment often leads to motivation issues. Findings reveal that students perceive their needs as phased, homogeneous yet diverse, and not universal. Daily and professional communication demands, positive teacher-student relationships, and successful language application drive deep learning. Key strategies are proposed, including enhancing teacher quality, developing structured materials that bridge general and medical Chinese, implementing scenario-based teaching that prioritizes speaking/listening, and optimizing the curriculum for continuous exposure and a balanced workload. The ultimate goal is to cultivate competent communicators for medical practice and daily life in China. 展开更多

This study employs bibliometric methods to conduct an empirical analysis of 53 vocational education projects approved under the National Education Science Planning(NESP)Program between 2020 and 2024 in higher vocational institutions(HVI)across China.The aim is to reveal the current state,developmental trajectory,key characteristics,and future directions of research in higher vocational education.The findings indicate that the number and categories of approved projects are significantly influenced by national policy orientations,exhibiting notable fluctuations and overall imbalances in distribution.The geographical distribution of project-leading institutions is uneven,and the distinctive characteristics of higher vocational colleges have yet to be fully demonstrated.While the research themes increasingly align with national vocational education policies,the construction of research teams remains weak.Based on the structural analysis of the approved projects,it is recommended that HVI focus on type-based positioning,coordinate research capacity with regional development needs,optimize the allocation of research resources,concentrate on key tasks such as quality improvement and excellence cultivation,and enhance the research motivation of young faculty members.These efforts are essential for advancing vocational education research toward a new stage of high-quality development. 展开更多

Evaluating Geographical Variations of Road Traffic Accidents in Matara,Sri Lanka:A Geospatial Perspective to Policy Decisions

Road Traffic Accidents(RTAs)pose significant threats to public safety and urban infrastructure.While numerous studies have addressed this issue in other countries,there remains a notable gap in localized RTA research in Sri Lanka.In this context,the present study investigates the spatial and temporal patterns of RTAs in theMatara urban area in 2023,with the goal of supporting evidence-based policy interventions.A suite of GIS-based spatial analysis techniques including hotspot analysis,kernel density estimation,GiZ score mapping,and spatial autocorrelation(Moran’s I=0.36,p<0.01)was applied to examine the distribution and contributing factors of RTAs.The results identified several high-risk zones,particularly along the Colombo-Wellawaya main road,as well as near the southern expressway exit,and around Rahula Junction,which collectively accounted for over 40% of all recorded accidents.These areas are characterized by high traffic volumes,complex road geometries,and significant pedestrian activity.Driverrelated behaviors were dominant causes,with negligence accounting for 57% of accidents,aggressive driving for 14%,and alcohol influence for 8%.Temporally,the highest incidence of RTAs(38%)was recorded during the afternoon peak hours(11:00 a.m.to 4:59 p.m.).Based on these findings,targeted policy measures such as enhanced traffic enforcement,infrastructure redesign,and public awareness campaigns are recommended to reduce accident frequency and improve road safety in high-risk areas.This study provides a localized,data-driven framework that can guide urban traffic planning and safety interventions in Matara and similar urban settings. 展开更多

Empirical Analysis of Tourism Revenue in Sanya City

Tourism is a pillar industry of the national economy and can reflect the overall economic development level of Sanya.Using the tourism data of Sanya from 2012 to 2023,we applied principal component analysis to extract two principal components from 11 indicators affecting the city’s tourism revenue.Python was employed to develop regression models and GM(1,1)models for predicting Sanya’s tourism revenue.The results show that in recent years,Sanya’s tourism revenue has been on the rise.The number of domestic tourists is the main factor affecting Sanya’s tourism revenue.Sanya’s tourism revenue is mainly influenced by domestic tourism revenue,the number of domestic tourists,the number of domestic overnight tourists in Sanya,the number of inbound overnight tourists in Sanya,and tourism foreign exchange earnings,etc.However,tourism hotels and other factors have no significant impact on Sanya’s tourism revenue.Based on the root mean square error(RMSE)criterion,regression models exhibit superior predictive performance compared to the GM(1,1)model in forecasting Sanya’s tourism revenue. 展开更多

AI-driven fintech industries face critical vulnerabilities from volatile rare earth and metallic mineral prices,geopolitical instability,and inflationary pressures.Sovereign inflation-linked bonds serve as incentives for investors in technological industries,despite the risks associated with rising costs of goods.By analyzing global data(8 September 2020–9 September 2023)via cross-quantilogram,recursive cross-quantilogram and quantile vector autoregressive approaches,this study reveals how Russia–Ukraine geopolitical risk,sovereign inflation–linked bonds,rare earth and metallic mineral prices disrupt AI-driven fintech outputs.Key findings indicate that rising rare earth prices suppress fintech productivity in long-term growth periods,whereas sovereign inflation-linked bonds mitigate short-term inflationary risk.Geopolitical turmoil disproportionately harms fintech outputs during market downturns,with both mineral price volatility and conflict-driven shocks amplifying systemic instability in fintech outputs and sovereign inflation-linked bonds.These results urge policymakers to secure critical mineral supply chains,promote inflation-hedging financial instruments,and foster international cooperation to buffer AI-driven fintech sectors against geopolitical and resource-driven disruptions. 展开更多

In the context of digital transformation,the deep integration of cyberspace and the physical world has given rise to new types of security challenges,and there is an urgent need for real-time and reliable personnel identity verification and behavioural status monitoring in fields such as intelligent transportation and telemedicine.As a typical human-caused security risk,fatigued driving not only threatens road traffic safety but also may be used by cyberattackers to implement identity fraud or data theft,resulting in derivative hazards.To this end,this study proposes an improved YOLOv6 facial fatigue monitoring method that integrates cybersecurity perspectives;combines traditional computer vision techniques with cybersecurity modelling;is based on the PyTorch framework;integrates OpenCV,Dlib,and multilevel fatigue assessment algorithms;optimises the PP-LCNet lightweighting module and the ShuffleNetv2 channel rearranging mechanism by incorporating the YOLOv6 backbone network;reconfigures the neck feature fusion layer to enhance the multiscale feature extraction capability;and introduces the adversarial sample training mechanism to improve the model’s defense capability against network attacks.Experiments show that the improved model significantly improves the fatigue feature recognition accuracy and real-time performance on the embedded platform,which provides innovative technical support for the construction of networked human security monitoring and intelligent traffic active defense systems. 展开更多

The application of artificial intelligence(AI)in carotid atherosclerotic plaque detection via computed tomography angiography(CTA)has significantly ad-vanced over the past decade.This mini-review consolidates recent innovations in deep learning architectures,domain adaptation techniques,and automated pl-aque characterization methodologies.Hybrid models,such as residual U-Net-Pyramid Scene Parsing Network,exhibit a remarkable precision of 80.49%in plaque segmentation,outperforming radiologists in diagnostic efficiency by reducing analysis time from minutes to mere seconds.Domain-adaptive fra-meworks,such as Lesion Assessment through Tracklet Evaluation,demonstrate robust performance across heterogeneous imaging datasets,achieving an area under the curve(AUC)greater than 0.88.Furthermore,novel approaches inte-grating U-Net and Efficient-Net architectures,enhanced by Bayesian optimi-zation,have achieved impressive correlation coefficients(0.89)for plaque quanti-fication.AI-powered CTA also enables high-precision three-dimensional vascular segmentation,with a Dice coefficient of 0.9119,and offers superior cardiovascular risk stratification compared to traditional Agatston scoring,yielding AUC values of 0.816 vs 0.729 at a 15-year follow-up.These breakthroughs address key challenges in plaque motion analysis,with systolic retractive motion biomarkers successfully identifying 80%of vulnerable plaques.Looking ahead,future directions focus on enhancing the interpretability of AI models through explainable AI and leveraging federated learning to mitigate data heterogeneity.This mini-review underscores the transformative potential of AI in carotid plaque assessment,offering substantial implic-ations for stroke prevention and personalized cerebrovascular management strategies. 展开更多

Computational modeling plays a vital role in advancing our understanding and application of soliton theory.It allows researchers to both simulate and analyze complex soliton phenomena and discover new types of soliton solutions.In the present study,we computationally derive the bright and dark optical solitons for a Schrödinger equation that contains a specific type of nonlinearity.This nonlinearity in the model is the result of the combination of the parabolic law and the non-local law of self-phase modulation structures.The numerical simulation is accomplished through the application of an algorithm that integrates the classical Adomian method with the Laplace transform.The results obtained have not been previously reported for this type of nonlinearity.Additionally,for the purpose of comparison,the numerical examination has taken into account some scenarios with fixed parameter values.Notably,the numerical derivation of solitons without the assistance of an exact solution is an exceptional take-home lesson fromthis study.Furthermore,the proposed approach is demonstrated to possess optimal computational accuracy in the results presentation,which includes error tables and graphs.It is important tomention that themethodology employed in this study does not involve any form of linearization,discretization,or perturbation.Consequently,the physical nature of the problem to be solved remains unaltered,which is one of the main advantages. 展开更多

This scoping review aimed to explore the nature and structure of Student Counselling and Development Units(SCDUs)in Africa towards a better understanding of the role they play in African Higher Education Institutions(HEIs).A comprehensive literature search of ten years(2015-2025)on five electronic databases was conducted.Titles and abstracts were screened,and full articles examined,resulting in 23 studies meeting the inclusion criteria.Using thematic analysis,five main overarching themes were identified:(i)the scope and focus of services in SCDUs,(ii)multidisciplinary teams,(iii)approaches to service provision,(iv)challenges in providing effective support,and(v)adaptability of SCDUs.These themes highlighted that SCDUs offer a multidimensional range of support services and adopt systems-based frameworks.Moreover,they face significant challenges,including limited resources,poor service utilization,and the need for culturally sensitive practices.Conversely,a major strength is their adaptability of implementing online and blended service delivery models. 展开更多

Photocatalytic fuel cells provide promising opportunities for sustainable wastewater treatment and energy conversion.However,their applications are challenged by the sluggish oxygen reducton reaction(ORR)kinetics at cathodes owning to the low O_(2) solubility and diffusion rate.Herein,we proposed a photobiocatalytic fuel cell(PBFC) with a novel hybrid biocathode based on artificially engineered algal cells coated by ZIF-8 confined carbon dots/bilirubin oxidase(ZIF-8/CDs/BOD@algae).Microalgae absorbed CO_(2) and provided O_(2) in situ for BOD catalysts.Due to effective absorption of O_(2) by imidazole and confinement of hydrophobic porous ZIF-8,oxygen diffusion has been accelerated in MOF/enzyme systems.Importantly,the introduction of CDs alleviated the poor conductivity of ZIF-8 and improved the electron transfer rate of BOD.Thus,the biocathode exhibited a high current density of 1767 μA/cm^(2),a 2.26-fold increase compared with that of CDs/BOD/algae biocathode.Also,it displayed enduring operational stability for up to 60 h since the firmly wrapped ZIF-8 shells could encapsulate proteins and protect algae from the external stimulation.When coupled with Mo:BiVO_(4) photoanodes,the PBFC exhibited a remarkable power output of 131.8 μW/cm^(2) using tetracycline hydrochloride(TCH) as a fuel and an increased degradation rate of TCH.Therefore,this work not only establishs an effective confinement strategy for enzyme to enrich oxygen,but also unveils new possibilities for modified microalgal cells aiding photoelectrocatalytic systems to recover energy from wastewater treatment. 展开更多

The aim of this work was to study the influence of the processing route on the microstructural constituents,hardness andtribological(wear and friction)behavior of Ti6Al4V biomedical alloy.In this sense,three different processing routes were studied:conventional casting,hot pressing and selective laser melting.A comprehensive metallurgical,mechanical and tribologicalcharacterization was performed by X-ray diffraction analysis,Vickers hardness tests and reciprocating ball-on-plate wear tests ofTi6Al4V/Al2O3sliding pairs.The results showed a great influence of the processing route on the microstructural constituents andconsequent differences on hardness and wear performance.The highest hardness and wear resistance were obtained for Ti6Al4Valloy produced by selective laser melting,due to a markedly different cooling rate that leads to significantly different microstructurewhen compared to hot pressing and casting.This study assesses and confirms that selective laser melting is potential to producecustomized Ti6Al4V implants with improved wear performance. 展开更多

Profile monitoring is used to check the stability of the quality of a product over time when the product quality is best represented by a function at each time point.However,most previous monitoring approaches have not considered that the argument values may vary from profile to profile,which is common in practice.A novel nonparametric control scheme based on profile error is proposed for monitoring nonlinear profiles with varied argument values.The proposed scheme uses the metrics of profile error as the statistics to construct the control charts.More details about the design of this nonparametric scheme are also discussed.The monitoring performance of the combined control scheme is compared with that of alternative nonparametric methods via simulation.Simulation studies show that the combined scheme is effective in detecting parameter error and is sensitive to small shifts in the process.In addition,due to the properties of the charting statistics,the out-of-control signal can provide diagnostic information for the users.Finally,the implementation steps of the proposed monitoring scheme are given and applied for monitoring the blade manufacturing process.With the application in blade manufacturing of aircraft engines,the proposed nonparametric control scheme is effective,interpretable,and easy to apply. 展开更多
