The increasing incidence of neurodegenerative diseases(NDs)and the constraints of existing treatment methods have spurred a keen interest in investigating alternative therapies.Medicinal plants,renowned for their long-standing use in traditional medicine,offer a hopeful avenue for discovering new neuroprotective agents.This study emphasizes the potential neuroprotective characteristics of edible fruit plants in Bangladesh,specifically focusing on their traditional folk medicine uses for neurological disorders.This study provides an in-depth overview of the different types of edible fruit trees in Bangladesh and their phytochemicals,including flavonoids,terpenoids,and phenolic acids.This work examines the scientific data supporting the neuroprotective properties of bioactive chemicals from plants.It further explores the mechanisms by which these compounds work to counteract oxidative stress,decrease inflammation,and stimulate neurogenesis.Moreover,the study investigates toxicological characteristics and bioactive components of some fruits,emphasizing the importance of further investigation to measure their safety profile comprehensively.This thorough study highlights the potential benefits of Bangladesh's edible fruit trees as a rich source of neuroprotective chemicals.It also shows that additional research might lead to novel approaches for improving brain functioning and preventing NDs. 展开更多

Acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)is the name used to describe several potentially life-threatening infections and disorders that happen when HIV has severely compromised the immune system.The primary effect of HIV is to decrease host immunity,exposing the host to external pathogens.The development of pharmaceutical drugs that directly cure the infection is crucial because of the current wide-ranging epidemic of HIV.Most therapeutic anti-HIV drugs are nucleosides.However,their high toxicity and potential for drug resistance restrict their use.Many of the most effective clinical drugs used to inhibit HIV,the activation of latent HIV,and AIDS have been obtained from natural sources.This review focuses on potential natural medicinal products for treating and managing HIV and AIDS.Notwithstanding,further clinical research studies are needed to understand the subject and its dynamics. 展开更多

Naringenin suppresses NLRP3 inflammasome activation via the mRNA-208a signaling pathway in isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction

Objective:To investigate the cardioprotective effect of naringenin against isoproterenol(ISO)-induced cardiotoxicity in rats.Methods:Rats were divided into five groups:the normal group,the ISO group(85 mg/kg b.w.);the ISO+naringenin(50 mg/kg b.w.)group,the ISO+naringenin(100 mg/kg b.w.)group and the ISO+propranolol(10 mg/kg b.w.)group.Plasma creatine kinase-MB(CK-MB),cardiac troponin T,lactate dehydrogenase,brain natriuretic peptide(BNP),and IL-10,as well as cardiac transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and malondialdehyde(MDA)were examined.In addition,NLRP3 and mRNA-208a expressions were evaluated by RT-PCR analysis.Histopathological examination was also performed to assess cardiac damages.Results:Naringenin treatment significantly decreased plasma lactate dehydrogenase,CK-MB,cardiac troponin T,BNP,and IL-10,as well as cardiac TGF-β1,VEGF,and MDA while increasing p-Akt and superoxide dismutase in ISO-administered rats.It also reduced NLRP3 and mRNA-208a gene expression levels.Furthermore,naringenin improved ISO-induced cardiac damage.Conclusions:Naringenin attenuates myocardial dysfunction in ISO-treated rats by decreasing oxidative stress and increasing cardiac endogenous antioxidant system,which may be modulated partly by improvement of NLRP3 and mRNA-208a gene expression. 展开更多

One of the most common kinds of cancer is breast cancer.The early detection of it may help lower its overall rates of mortality.In this paper,we robustly propose a novel approach for detecting and classifying breast cancer regions in thermal images.The proposed approach starts with data preprocessing the input images and segmenting the significant regions of interest.In addition,to properly train the machine learning models,data augmentation is applied to increase the number of segmented regions using various scaling ratios.On the other hand,to extract the relevant features from the breast cancer cases,a set of deep neural networks(VGGNet,ResNet-50,AlexNet,and GoogLeNet)are employed.The resulting set of features is processed using the binary dipper throated algorithm to select the most effective features that can realize high classification accuracy.The selected features are used to train a neural network to finally classify the thermal images of breast cancer.To achieve accurate classification,the parameters of the employed neural network are optimized using the continuous dipper throated optimization algorithm.Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach in classifying the breast cancer cases when compared to other recent approaches in the literature.Moreover,several experiments were conducted to compare the performance of the proposed approach with the other approaches.The results of these experiments emphasized the superiority of the proposed approach. 展开更多
